At about 1:15 minutes into the trailer the soundtrack devolves into the EXACT same tinnitus sound that happens in the game during the golf scene.
Very common golfing injury
Thays when I started tearing up lol
Omg i knew ittt I recognized the audio
I noticed that immediately. It gave me goosebumps.
and it's the same ringing sound that Ellie hears when she found out that she killed pregnant Mel
The shot of Abby at the grave gives me chills. I can feel her grief and her rage just from that split second.
From the interviews I have read from the cast, Kaitlyn Dever's performance steals the show. They were blown away by her. I cannot wait to see her in action.
@@Allyphant2909 I was skeptical at first, but I'm looking forward to her portrayal.
her performance is really gonna lift the show up. her character requires so much nuance and i don’t think the game was quite able to do that. being able to show more real emotion is gonna help so much
She lost her mom around when filming began so I'm sure we are witnessing her real grief too
I didnt realize this untili now, but its taking the grave scene from the game and giving it to the other side!
Can we also talk about how amazing the editing is for this trailer? The way it shows enough, doesn’t reveal too much, but is also edited in a way where fans of the game understand what it means is just incredible. That cut from Catherine O’Hara saying “What did you do” to finally revealing Abby at her dad’s grave really got me.
I think that Ellie scene might be a nightmare of the hospital because it looks like she's in a hospital gown and is laying on a gurney. Maybe giving her nightmares about what Joel did (or what she imagines he did, since he didn't tell her everything) will further fuel her resentment towards him. She could be seeing Joel killing Marlene in a nightmare, which would explain what looks like a blood-curdling scream.
well he did tell her the hospital was attacked by raiders.
@@kennycooper294 But she knows he lied.
This was 100% my thought!
The only thing I could think of was them doing the chemical burn to hide her bite marks, but yeah does kinda look like the hospital gown
"I can't believe we're getting this." I felt that in my whole chest.
Wow. Wow. Wow.
yeah. I had a moment there and couldn't really recover lol
'the golf tournament' lmaoo
tlou discussions are so much more enjoyable without some little rat squealing in your ear about “we tried ahh casting”
oh my god fr
To be fair, future days BARELY exists in the game version too. Neil barely justifies its existence whenever asked about it. I don't think that matters much, the song is too important to be excluded for something like that.
he said the song was unreleased but had been played live, and Joel had learned it from a youtube video😅 like yes that's a bit farfetched but it's more believable than Joel playing a song that was 10 years away from existing when the apocalypse happened. I agree the song is important though so maybe it will only be used non-diagetically (meaning we the audience will hear it but the characters won't/it won't actually play within the world)
@@tlou_explained they could always go the route saying Joel wrote the song. Might make it have an even stronger impact but idk how that works ethically lol
@@CornOffTheCobb that could be cool! I think Pearl Jam would be cool with that haha
@@tlou_explainedimagining Joel learning songs from UA-cam is the cutest thing ever oh my god
@@tlou_explained it'd be funny if Pearl Jam simply survived and continued making music somehow but I know they wouldn't go that route, haha.
I am beyond excited for this. So many people are already angry because some of the characters don't look EXACTLY like the game models, but from the two seconds we see Kaitlyn as Abby, she already FEELS like Abby. Bells FEELS like Ellie. They embody the characters, which makes them so much better in my opinion. Nobody can dampen my excitement for this next season. I'm excited to see Bella dig into revenge and how that changes somebody, Kaitlyn go through Abby's journey, and so much more.
I’ve been a diehard fan of the game/series since day 1! I really appreciate your analysis series on TLOU Part 2. Very in depth and I can tell you took your time to put the pieces together. Well done and keep it up!
Watching the trailer, I was looking for clues, and immediately atarted ti realize that they aren't going to wait for the moment that made the game so divisive. Personally I'm ready for it and to see how ppl react. I'm in the camp that believes that was absolutely necessary to set the tone for the game, and the motivation for everything to work right. Loved part 2. Can't wait to see season 2.
The tv show is giving us exactly what we get from the games; emotional, raw, unfiltered storytelling with the correct camera angles, settings/locations, music, lighting, passionate acting et al. You can see the labour of love in both the tv show and games. Excellent, high quality craftsmanship!
i can’t even. i can’t. i… ABBY!!! KAITLYN YOU QUEEN!!!
I was literally waiting for you to see it and watch your reaction. guess we’re the only fraction who understands Abby as much as Ellie and Joel.
The pause you took at 4:50 is exactly my reaction after watching the teaser for the first time. This show and the fact that it's existing, almost feels surreal.
Beautifully put… it feels so surreal… I can’t really believe it.
I'm in the same boat. These games have done such a huge impact on me. I'm so excited to see how they tell this heartbreaking story
Oh my god the eye of Tommy when he has his moment with his wife! For "Future Days" I hope that they simply said "Fuck It with continuity, we are going to use it anyway", I will completely agree with them.
PS, don't worry and take your time but can you please post your blind reaction here or share at least the link for those who don't want to do a ticktock account?
I agree with the point about Future Days. Im optimistic, since we see that Pearl Jam vinyl in Ellie's room in the trailer, so here's hoping its not just me boofing copium!
I’m like super happy about the actress for Abby, I agree, good choice honestly and good contrasting parallel choice for Bella’s adaptation of Ellie
Ellie screaming reminds me of the PTSD scene in the barn... but there's no way it's that, right?
4:01 Interestingly, they aren't wearing masks here. So seems as if we aren't going any kind of spores route for what happens at the end of this underground sequence. Can't imagine it would be hard to adapt Ellie getting scratched or cut or w/e, and revealing her immunity that way.
if I remember correclty, they didnt implement the spore thing in season 1 because they didnt want the actors to wear masks all the time. So there are no spores in TV TLOU
I have a theory that the man watching the incoming horde is going to be Seth.
i’m shitting myself 😞
3:56 Is this part after Joel dies? I think it is because Tommy has the wound from being pistol-whipped
Omg u might be right😮
i was like mmmmm idk for a while on Dever being Abby but that shot by her dad's grave sold it for me i'm like YUP THAT'S ABBY, nailed the hair especially
The fence being pushed in is just like the game but Abby still seems to wear the cap when the infected is shot
I don't think I've ever been so excited for a TV show!
Why dont u post the original reaction?
I think its interesting to have that scene with Joel and a therapist. Which i feel they are trying to really hit home that Joel was in a very different place mentally in part 2. A mentality that allowed him to be so trusting and what ultimately happens.
Also, I was just thinking as I was watching this. Granted, they can't give away spoilers for the golf tournament, but they show a lot of stuff that happens in the first half of the game, which centers around Ellie and Dina. I wonder if season 2 will, in some ways, be the first half of the game with perhaps flashbacks/past events woven in between. It could be that they're just being secretive as they were when first introducing Abby's character, but I also wouldn't be surprised since we haven't seen anything about Yara or Lev yet that we'll get the full scope and "second half" in season 3. Even if I'm so completely wrong, I'm still excited for whatever they have planned.
So glad I found your channel. As a huge fan of Part II who thinks it’s the best game ever made and because of the complexity of its storytelling and subtleties, I really appreciate your takes and focus on those nuances. Can’t wait for Season 2 now of the show. It’s looking like they are gonna do it right!!!
Seeing Abby in front of her father's grave really gave me the impression we will definitly see the reason why she took the journey to Jackson in this season, compared to the game, where you really had to wait a long time (the end of Ellie's Day 3) to find out.
I still find it reassuring, especially for viewers who have only seen season 1. I still remember when the game came out, many people didn't understand at the beginning who Abby was, why she was doing all this, how it had come to this
I just wanted to say Thank You for making these videos, TLOU 2 is my favourite game of all time and i absolutely love your videos and thoughts about it.
I just had to take a moment and comment on how beautiful your music editing was with the guitar segment of Unbroken playing as you talk about sitting with how you feel about getting such a high quality adaptation of the game. You did such a great job matching the emotion of the music to what you're discussing and feeling.
They really payed attention to the casting which I love. Bella looks rather young so naturally Dina & Abby do too, cause their all around the same age. Neat!
First-Bella and Pedro BOTH need those Emmy awards! Love the addition of Joel seeing a therapist. Having him doing the work/tackling his demons, and then feeling hopeful about repairing his relationship with Ellie (with the change of having that final conversation in S2), only to then have that chance violently taken away by Abby, will make it more painful I think. Same with Ellie..that’s where a lot of her anger came from, angry at herself for not forgiving Joel sooner, and losing that chance to rekindle that relationship. Knowing Bella and Pedro’s close friendship off-screen will for sure add to the heartbreak. ❤️🩹
I watched the previous video u did before and now its amazing how u understood the stuff shown in the teaser ... All the characters are iconic now and seeing u react to them is so wholesome ❤❤❤
I have been waiting for your reaction video from as soon as I saw there was a new trailer!
I really am curious as to what the narrative structure of this whole thing is going to be. It cannot be as 'Ellie's Story then Abby's Story' as the game. One of the things I most look forward to is seeing how they do that.
Also, if they do the flashback in the museum, I may well just melt into nothingness. I do not know how I can maintain my shit if that happens.
I'm as excited as you are for season two of The Last Of Us coming out in 2025! Got my box of Kleenex tissues handy so lets go! 🔥😁
That is an amazing shirt!
Thank you for reacting! I know it was a scramble to get set up but I was waiting for your reaction
I have to admit, i'm worried about the pacing and structure of this season. There's no way they could fit the whole of the 2nd game into 1 season, but it seems as though we're going to get some of abby & the WLF's story in this as well which says to me that they'll be restructuring the narrative. Now, HBO has a very skilled team of writers at their disposal so perhaps they could change the narrative structure and make it work but the game to me just did it so perfectly that i don't know if we'd get the same impact if they did it the way they seem to be doing it. I still enjoyed the first season, while not thinking it was quite as strong as the game though so i'm anxious but excited to see what they bring us next year regardless.
I heard they made it into 2 seson
@@bighendy4162the second game is actually going to be 3 seasons long, gives them time to fully explore the game without pacing issues as well as time for ND to finish up Part 3 so the series can follow it once it’s out
i’m guessing season 2-2025, season 3-2027, season 4-2029 and season 5-2031 and im guessing part 3 will release 2030
@@juancortez958 yeah i really wanted explore behind story of WLF and Seraphite.
And man i wish they released TLOU faction online game.. I play 'no return' every single day, coz the gameplay is fire🔥
@@bighendy4162 fr tho 🔥
Jessie is jacked!
abby character analysis video pleaseee
The Loyal + Expansion of SEASON ONE was perfect in my opinion. If they continue that same format I will continue to love season two regardless of my hate for Abby. My only regret is I couldn't hack the game so I could have the satisfaction of avenging "the golf tournament"
I hope they keep the structure, I get worried when I hear "changes". The game is iconic due to this structure.. like are we not going to see Abby after episode 1/2 uptil the next season? Pretty ballsy to do. But I hope they do it.
I am 100% confident that it is going to be loyal to the game as it was for season 1. I’m one of the ones who believes that Part I and Part II are the pinnacle of storytelling, if they were to deviate and change the story for season 2, that just means that Neil didn’t fully believe in the actual story which I know is not true. I can’t wait man, so damn excited. 🦋🩵
Season 1 wasn’t loyal enough, to the storytelling sure (apart from the race swapping and Bill) we never once saw any action, not to mention Henry and Sam were done so dirty
@@xragdoll5662Craig and Neil both said season 2 would have more action and infected. They did admit they under did it season 1, in part because they didn’t want to overdo it and have it lose its impact. They instead focused more on the story and emotional aspects as opposed to the action. So I assume Season 2 will be more action packed, which makes sense for its story. How much more action packed is to be seen.
@@xragdoll5662 I hear you but I think the way they told the story for the first game in season one couldn’t have been done better. I completely disagree with you on the note that it wasn’t loyal enough, in fact, most of the scenes in it are frame for frame. It had everything and the beats of the core story were absolutely there, but that’s just me.
The show is already deviating. The infected attack on Jackson and the confession of Joel to (a therapist?) instead of his brother, the only person he would ever tell the truth to.
🤷🏻♂️
There could be a great explanation. But things look great, I expect this to be a faithful adaption, but an adaptation just the same.
@@ElNuddles I think he’s still gonna tell Tommy, I don’t see why he wouldn’t. The therapist scene is likely after their fight at the dance judging by Joel’s hair. They’ll either have their fight or Ellie won’t talk to him and the therapist wants to know why. I doubt Joel is gonna be truthful to her because it’s too risky. I can see him leaving it at “I saved her” and not much else. The infected could be headed for Jackson but there was still a horde in game. I assume they’re expanding on that.
my only college class for the day started a minute before it released.
I'm so excited to see the added context like conversations between characters and details to plot events that we didn't see in the game! :) oh, boy... I can't believe it's really almost here!!!
Yeh I don't think we get Lev and Yara until s3. I think s2 is going to give us up thru Ellies Seattle days and the turn where we see the first Abby flashback. Then s3 will be Abbys Seattle + flashbacks. Then I think s4 will be farm, Santa Barbara, and epilogue.
I am a Little scared that they might be giving the story a new struggle. We know that Part 2 is going to be multiple seasons however in this trailer we see segments from the Abby half and even the very end of the game.
I think it makes sense that Abby isn’t jacked because of how small Bella’s Elle still is. Like maybe Abby is just stronger from her being older, faster and taller. I think Kaitlyn looking like a older Bella IS intentional to make them both doppelgängers of each other and moral foils like you can definitely imagine in another universe where Kaitlyn plays Elle, but just someone who’s further along in her life. I think when we shift to the point of view of following Abby as she’s now trying to kill Elle it’s going to feel like a character who’s killing herself her mirror image.
If they are faithful to the game, tv audiences are not ready, part 2 is devastating. Also Nirvana’s in Utero in the background behind Pedro at 1:33, pretty cool.
I'm so exited for Abby in this season! I really hope they will evenly distribute screentime, switching between Abby and Ellie POVs, othervise it'd be a shame if they'd make us wait another 2 years for next season for Abby's POV.
You are always right...like you were when you thought Ellie was wrong in making out with Dina after Dina Jesse officially broke up...and you also don't think that Abby Owen did wrong with Mel....writing I was right in the title shows your arrogance....worst channel ever
Loved the “Jesse too swole for the apocalypse” jab at Abby haters.
Was such a weird thing they fixated on for a game about actual zombies.
Abby is going to be amazing. So excited for Catherine O’Hara
simply changing this controversial story from a game into a show WILL impact how it makes the audience feel… i can’t wait to see how they take advantage of this opportunity, if at all 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Oh yeah, I never thought about what they would do about Future Days, since in the show’s timeline the song was never written. I’m curious to see how they’ll handle that. The trailer looks so good!!!
It really seems like they're doing the whole Part 2 in one season which surprised me. Unless the porch scene is bait. But it really has to be saved until the end for maximum impact.
Minor spoilers ahead if you haven’t played part 2
This trailer proves to me that the makeup and hair department is handling the aging aspect of Ellie really well. I saw someone say that Bella still looks too young at the beginning of the trailer, in the scene of her holding the guitar smiling with Joel, but they’re missing that’s exactly the point! That interaction takes place a few weeks/months from where the first season/game ends, her and Joel are just arriving in Jackson, she’s still a kid in that scene. In the other section of the trailer when we see her approaching Joel on his porch at night, and she’s looking at him with that cold stare, she truly looks 4-5 years older. The makeup and hair department are doing subtle and smart choices to age her up, you can really tell a stark difference if you compare both frames.
I’m really just excited to see Bella kill it (lol) next season.
Honestly looking Forward to seeing Kaitlyn Dever portrayal as Abby ever since they announced it, i cant wait.👍💯🔥
Excellent break down. Just found your channel and I’m a new subscriber now
I don't get why people get hung up on whether Future Days exists in the show because it's set before the song came out in real life. The outbreak exists in the show, but not in real life. The song can too.
We dir see stalkers in season 1 therr was a stalker in episode 3 that ellie killed when it was on the ground in rubble unable to move there was a young stalker after ellie im the car in episode 5 well it looked like a stalker to me and there was a stalker im episode 7 that was trying to kill ellie and Riley in the mall
Hmm i really want to know hy ellie was screaming in that one part, ofc they will most likely add more to the story in the show just like they did in season 1, so it just might be a thing we havent seen yet. Or its just the scene where ellie gets ptsd in the barn🤷♂️
Is it official the second game will be told over two seasons? Where will they put the break I wonder. This trailer seems like it's entirely for game fans because it touches so many characters and story beats from the game. But as lot of the shots we see may be from the second half of the season. I wonder if the golf tournament might be the last episode of the season? Abby is a complete unknown to TV viewers but the trailer showing her mourning with a dog tag chain seems like a spoiler people who spend many hours picking apart every detail in a trailer. I think how Abby is connected is going to to be accurately speculated on before episode 1, which will make the reveal less impactful than in the game.
@@gregs3845 not to mention that shot of Abby was right after Catherine O'Hara asked Joel "what did you do"💀 I mean, they can't really give too much of the plot away because so much hinges on a massive spoiler. Game fans will know all the references they made in the trailer, whereas show fans are prob like "huh, lots of new people, neat. can't wait to see more of Pedro as Joel!"
and I believe they've stated it will take more than one season to cover tlou2, but I'm not sure if the series has officially been renewed for season 3 yet.
Love the video, been watching your channel grow for a while now :D
I had the same feeling as you did near the end I was just like. Omg. I am so excited and it’s almost surreal that it’s actually happening
I still bet Ellie is screaming cos she's doing the chemical burn. There's also someone holding her. It would be too much to do that by herself.
what do you think of them literally copying visual setup of the game? im conflicted on one hand its cool to see a recreation but the game already looks so good. at least or i hope we get to see other stories like Bills in the first season..
I cannot wait for your analyses!
I admit, I'm most fearful of the obnoxious fan response to this.
I'm thinking Bella screaming is the sheep scene in the game. But yeah, it could be her waking up after the golf tournament.
My first priority yesterday was to watch the trailer. 2nd order of business was to wait for your reaction. Your honesty and passion outshines all of 'em
They just might use future days in the show, gotta remember its still a fictional world, and no other song would feel right in that scene
Why can't they use Future Days in the actual show? I would presume that both it and Take On Me would be used in the show as they were in the game. I can't imagine licensing would be a problem for them, as they already got it for the game. I feel like the opening verse of that song is so poignant to the story and such a great foreshadow of things to come, that it would be quite a loss to not have that element in there. I mean, this story obvious takes place in an alternate version of our world, so I don't think it really matters when the song was really written in respect to a timeline.
they could just proceed with it and say screw the timeline, or only use it non-diagetically. I'm sure they have a plan!
02:16 i think you are right... i do believe they will tease this stand off to be ingrained in the viewer's mind only to go back to it in season 3 you know when.
my guess is ellie and joel may live together at first as father and daughter that would make things even more heartbreaking for them in the show. then show moves in the garage later?
Since the show took out the concept of spores, I wonder how Dina will find out Ellie is immune
I am wondering if that Bella screaming scene is the barn PTSD scene
I want it to be loyal to the game but I want some changes so it's not as predictable for us who knows that game.
2:31 are we just going to ignore Abby who’s literally built like she hulk 😭😭
Whos playing Abby she looks familiar to me.
I am super pumped for this, though I am worried they will kill off Joel early on like Part 2. Joel has to die, but I think doing it so soon wasn't the right call. Imo it should've started with building Abby up and showing Ellie's fallout with Joel, then a time jump with Abby killing Joel then moving into the rest of the game.
I suggest you watch my recent video about the structure
I'm almost positive someone else has already posted about this, but I'll toss it out there anyway.
Though Future Days may not have been in the game (at least from my recollection), it very likely was going to be at some stage, since there is a recording of Troy Baker performing it in the voice of Joel. (I was also fortunate enough to see Troy Baker perform the song as Joel live last year!)
The problem is that in this version the world ended in 2003 and the song hadn't been written yet so how does Joel know a song that never existed. In the game timeline the world ends in 2013 so the reason he knows the song is because he heard it at a Pearl Jam show and remembered it. A shaky story but not as unlikely as singing a song that never was. The real explanation is Neil loves Pearl Jam, likes how the lyrics relate to the game and doesn't care about timelines or logic he just loves the song.
I wonder if bella screaming is like a flashback or the joel scene😢 but who knows
yayayayayaya this is the reaction video I was looking for. Well done.
In Jackson they aren't starving, they have access to dairy and meat. This life requires hard physical labor. Before our current culture people didn't need special diets and access to gyms, trainers and special workout routines to be fit and strong. People weren't sitting at computers for a living and spending the rest of their time playing video games or watching various screens as sedentary observers. They were active participants in life. Throw in genetics and you have the answer as to why someone like Jessie can look the way they look.
Yes u are so right, and I think they know that haha! I’m pretty sure they were mocking people who were vehemently upset at abby’s awesome build because abby is a woman without “adequate access to the right amount of protein”
i think ellie screaming could also be when she gets bit cuz she’s gonna have to since there’s no spores
I think the scene where Ellie is screaming is where they did the chemical burn on her arm…
I think we're going to get snippets of the porch scene throughout the season and into season 3.
practice your golf swings everybody!
i’m only watching this season for abby and abby only
