The Last of Us Day is still a really unclear title, I mean I get its the rewording of The Outbreak Day…But I also don’t think that’s a great memorial title either. Maybe if they just called it “The Last of Us, Memoriam”.

I just feel bad for Kaitlyn Dever, she's an incredible actress, she is going to get so much hate because of her character. TLOU pt II is an incredible story that really challenges you to take a step back and look at all that's transpired in both games. This is gonna be amazing

Honestly I think show watchers are more forgiving than gamers. I personally love the game but the big rub that I do understand for some is when they throw you in Abby’s shoes. A LOT of people quit the game at that point.

@@Killerpeanut Yeah maybe, but unlike when the game released, today we have a big group of rightwing outrage grifters that make money by targeting media projects featuring or casting certain kinds of people they dislike and stoking hate through social media and youtube about it. They already targeted S1 to a degree, but the events of S2 make it prime fodder for outrage peddling. So there will undoubtedly be a group of very loud morons that likely have never even played the game or watched the show still spreading toxicity over it for existing. How intense that gets will probably depend on how popular the season is as the more popular it is the more financial incentive those grifters will have to keep peddling their faux outrage instead of just moving on to the next target.
This season is looking to be REALLY heavy..... Like bolater heavy, Hulk trying to lift mjolnir heavy........... Everyone have the tissues at the ready and don't wear your contacts
Idk if you've played the game or not, but yes, these next two seasons covering the second game will be heavy AF. The second game is at the same time one of the most beautiful experiences I've ever had with a story, and one of the most depressing too.
@@ladrac198 no I never had the opportunity to play the games but I kinda figured it would go that way. Just going off of the end of last season and where they are at in their story, only a few ways it could go really. If you have never played it Eternal Sonata has a SOUL crushing ending......I cried for like 30 minutes after finishing that game

Last of Us day coincides with the day the outbreak happened September 26 (2013 for the games and 2003 for the show).

I really hope they get people to like Abby this time around, because she is literally Ellie with slightly different life experiences. But they’re the same character, and that’s the point. If you hate Abby, you should hate Ellie
People always say that and for good reason, but post golf she's not Ellie, she's Joel. She's the person who finally finds their peace in protecting a kid and is OK with watching a world burn so long as that kid is safe. Though obviously all 3 of them are connected. All of them are as bad and good as each other trying to find their way through pain and trauma in a world that's ended.

Abby does nothing wrong and she delivers what a lot of people probably wanted to deliver in that world. I really hope people are smart and realize that Kaitlyn Dever is only playing a character and isn't actually Abby. She doesn't deserve any of the hate that Laura Bailey had to suffer.
I mean....people are the worst so yeah she's most likely going to have to deal with the same kind of nonsense. Which is ridiculous but again, people are the worst.

Honestly as someone who played TLOU Part II I wasn't sure if they could pack the same emotional punch as the game but BOY did they manage to do just that.

I played both part 1 and 2 loved them both. According to me both are masterpiece games, I know many people who thinks the same can't wait for season 2 goodluck to everyone who has not played the games 🤣.
Nope. Tee time is coming in first few episodes because there is footage from after that in the trailer.
Pretty sure just like season 1 they are going to move some things around, probably tell it chronological order rather than the flashbacks in the game. Don't expect tee time till at least the end of season 2.
@@michaeljeacock I really think it's happening in the first 3 episodes because the trailer shows multiple scenes that take place during Seattle Day 1 in the game. The music shop scene (Take On Me) is in the middle of Seattle Day 1 and the subway tunnel scenes are near the end of Seattle Day 1. Both take place a decent amount of time after 🏌️♀️. We'll see plenty of flashbacks over the next few seasons, but yeah. It's going to be interesting to see how they introduce characters and plot points from later in the game earlier in the show (like the Seraphites and Isaac). They're definitely moving things around, probably (in part) to show more of Abby earlier in the story for obvious reasons.
I noticed that the only place we see that character in the trailer is, well... either that first room or before everything evidently goes to hell. (I haven't played Part 2 and know next to nothing about it but I do know that one spoiler.)

TLOU Day has been around for quite a while-since the first game, actually. Originally called Outbreak Day. Naughty Dog would release game related promos on Sept 26, which is both the day of the cordyceps infection outbreak, and also Joel's birthday. (and the day Sarah died) ... Worst Birthday Gift Ever.
TLOU day is symbolic. In The Last of Us lore that is the Canon day of when the outbreak started.
Now fans use it like a "holiday" to celebrate the game.
I finally went to go play this game the other day only to discover it's still not on PC ! that's insane! you'd think with the show they would have ported it by now. I'm not going to buy a PS5 just so I can play this game and then figure out how to hook it up to my computer so I can record it, I just want the PC version. 😭
Remember that day when the whole world went to shit and Joel's daughter died in season 1, episode 1? That was September 26. Just like August 29 is the anniversary of judgement day.

it's not a teaser for the last of us day. It's a teaser for the second season which was released on the date that in the story is outbreak day.
This teaser trailer was released on Outbreak Day, a day that was set by Naughty Dog for the fans to celebrate the games. It also canonically is the day when the fungal outbreak happens in The Last of Us universe.
It's similar to May 4th as Star Wars days.

I am one of those people that love every minute of TLOU2 as it is. I am also fully on board for a bunch of changes and restructuring. I mainly feel like a Song of Ice and Fire book reader, ready to go on quite the rollercoaster with first timers.
Excellent trailer, so much pandering for people like me to say "that's straight out of the game" 20 times in 2 minutes, and I cannot wait for the world to meet Abby. Kaitlyn Dever's been a badass in my eyes since Justified. Team Abby all the way!
I also refused to pay full price for TLOU1 re-re-mastered, so I finally got my hands on that thanks to TLOU Day. Tis a happy day indeed.

120% agreed with your comment about the sound design. For me it became too much during the birth scene and episode six of season one of House of the Dragon. That’s when I was like really guys? Really? Was that necessary? But yeah, I am intense levels of not emotionally ready for the second season of this show. I know exactly what you’re referring to, and you really think it’ll be at the end of the season? I always imagined it being pretty close to the beginning. Maybe not the first episode, but not at the very end. Granted, I don’t know quite as much about the second game as I do about the first, so there might be pieces I’m not putting into place. I just wish Max audio described their trailers like Disney+ does. They should get on that.

Yeah, I love the Actors & Actresses, and the sound design and visuals are an achievement…But I don’t need this. I really didnt need the first season either lol. Its partly because we already have SOOO many series that are emotionally hard to sit through, but I think even if we didnt this franchise is just not a “sit down, good cry” time…It just hurts.
Unless you have played the game, season 2 is going to wreck you. Unfortunately season 3 will probably not come out since Last of Us 3 will not be out until at least 2030 according to reports.
The cinematography in this show is just unreal, every single shot in this trailer is just visually amazing especially for a TV show.

For those that have played the game, you know whats coming. For those that haven't, be prepared for the "Red Wedding" treatment.
It'll be interesting to see how they will structure the episodes. For sure, it won't be a 1:1 recreation of the game's timeline. And if the rumors of a two season-spanning adaption of the second game is true, I see the 'inciting incident' happening as a cliffhanger for season two.
Jay and Adam, please play the game, or at least watch the playthrough, if you are not gamers. Playing or watching the game will give you way better context when season 2 starts in January. Just fyi.
The thing about the music choices in this trailer is very telling. First of all, of course theyd pick that song but when the music gets very tense. Almost like that tinnitus ringing sound, thats literally what you hear during "that" scene. These guys nailed the "gamers will know what were implying but the show fans will have no idea what their in store for and just think this trailer is epic". Fuck them for that but also hats off to them cause this is a great trailer. Im sold.
They're splitting Part 2 of the game into at least 2/3 seasons of the show, for that reason there's only going to be 7 episodes in Season 2.

End of episode 2 is going to be brutal for those of us who played the game and shocking for those who did not.
I was like 'do they know?'...& then the golf references, 'Okay, they know'.
Its more than just a panic attack sound you are talking about in 4:54. Its the same sound as in the game during the ski resort golfing scene making you not want to see season 2. That sound has layers of fear, panic, and tragedy unearthing the scene trauma you wanted buried
