  • This old dinosaur rocks! Especially with the dual 6' drag harrows running in tandem behind it! Join me for today's land management and food plotting episode as I am constantly looking ahead to find better and more productive ways of planting my food plots on our Southern Illinios farm. A few month's ago, as I was looking toward the future, I purchased an old 12' John Deere disc harrow to try to increase my productivity on working up my food plot fields down the road. Well, today is 'down the road!' Join me as I take out my KIOTI RX7320 and set up the old John Deere 12' disc and test it out for the very first time. Also in today's episode I will be adding 2 6' disc harrows in tandem behind the 12' disc to smooth out the dirt behind the 12' disc and to increase my food plot productivity.
This could be a food plotting game changer! Recently I bought an old John Deere 12' farming disc and just today I added 2 very aggressive harrows on the back and gave them a quick test run! This will definitely be a game changer for working up the fields for food plots and more! #kapperoutdoors #kapperoutdoors2 #foodplots #foodplotsfordeer #12footdisc #johndeere #disc #discing #discharrow

The John Deere disc and harrows do a good job!

Joe, keep those bearings well greased to avoid having to replace them. Also try Chisel plowing first, and then go over it with the disk. Your disk is more of a finishing disc...not a bogging disc. But even at that, looks like the ole/new disc is working fariry good for ya. I have a 13ft JD disc about like yours that is my main disc to finish working up my plots. Trusting you will like using your disc as much as I do using mine!! Real help and time saver to get those plots worked up and planted!!

When through, 5-gal bucket of grease and a cpl stiff paint brushes and smear grease on the discs. keep things from going south, especially if left uncovered and outside

Thanks! We just got a soaker this morning! 8/27. But we'll see if the plots survived the last 8 days of intense heat!

Looks like its gonna work great. Time to weld two tongues on the back of the frame of the disc to pin those harrows too.

We are in pope county. Planted 1.5 acres just before the heavy rain the first week of august. A little earlier than usual but last year’s drought in the fall killed us so took advantage of the heavy rain

Good deal, you hit the timing pretty good. I missed my first couple of chances in early August. We just got a good soaker this morning 8/27 so we'll see if my little plants survived the last week of heat! Thanks and good luck!

That disc is probably older than you! It's doing a good job though.

Looks Good Kapper. Nice to see old equipment work good. Mow #15 this year in 105 degrees heat index. Spray gravel drives again. We’re does that volunteer grass come from in gravel Kapper? Bought a battery powered pump sprayer 4 years ago, keep the battery in house in winter and set it on mower and spray. It’s a back saver.
My back and lungs were hurting by the time I got inside or I dragged the alley and parking areas. Did Mr. Haney stop by and sell that to you? 😂. Be a fun Parody. ❤️
