- A bit of Telecaster talk as I add a Fender block inlaid Player series neck and some Fender Classic Gear vintage style tuners to one of my Teles. Why I did it, how I did it, and what it sounds like!
Thanks Derek, glad you enjoyed another half hour of me wittering on! Clearly a man of taste when it comes to telecasters!
Great Tele collection video, Alan :) Nickel hardware always looks classy! Never seen that Player neck before - looks different for a Tele. The spaghetti logo is definitely my favourite one. Brass compensated saddle bridge and vintage tuners are also my #1 choices. Both the Tele necks I purchased used for my partscasters came with Fender split post tuners retro fitted (screw type on the Fender licensed neck and modern retro on the Fender Player). I wouldn’t choose any other type for a Tele :) Fitted a set of Tonerider Hot Classics in one of them.
Great video Alan, Teles are just the best of them all.
Cheers Frazer. As always, you are a man of wealth and taste!
Nice work!
Thank you very much!
I did a similar thing with a sparkly purple metallic Squier Tele deluxe ha. I installed fancy block MOP inlays to a maple neck, plus the necessary upgrades of nut & saddles to Tusq, and better tuners (imo all Squier's need those 3 upgrades at a minimum), and also took some of the gloss away from back of neck. I'm now as happy playing that as I am playing on my Fender's
That sounds awesome and I couldn't agree more - Squier make some great guitars these days and seem to offer a lot more choice than Fender as well. And who wouldn't love a purple sparkle Tele?
If you upgrade a Tele you don't have a Tele anymore.
Often I'd agree with you, but I think it depends on what upgrades you apply. These tuners are standard on American Performers and the block inlaid neck is a Fender genuine part Telecaster neck, so I'm happy it is still all Tele! 😂
