I bet it will split wood nicely, as it is now. So be careful if you put it on a grinder. My biggest concern is how heavy it is, and how short the handle is. If I get one, my first job will be to find a new handle that is more like 18 to 20 inches long.

Nice review as always brother. Let me axe you a question. What would you recommend for a throwing axe?

It definitely looks cool, but it's easy to see what you mean about it being too thick as is to cut very well. It certainly was heavy enough to bludgeon its way through some of that wood. With a little work it could be a good axe. Thanks for sharing this with us.

How would you rank this compared to the Ned Foss 15” heavy hatchet you reviewed recently?

This one is much lighter. The other has a more acute edge which cuts and digs in better. Same handle length and feel. Both are good but I like lighter. Just gotta take the grind down some.

One last question. If you had to guess, what is the angle of the edge? I usually put a 24 degree edge on my tomahawks and hatchets. A good edge that will hold up to hard use. Any idea's?

It is thick. I'd say over 30. Good splitter but needs work for chopping/cutting. There is a lot of steel behind the edge. Cool axe though.
