- The F30 version of the BMW 335i was the successor to the E92 model with the same nameplate, and had a relatively short run of approximately 4 years, and there has been no replacement, although I do suspect the 340i was supposed to do the job.
This variant would probably end up being somewhat of a collectible since it had such a short run and likewise, it is quite rare in this country since it was only in 2012 that we saw it here, and the model was phased out in 2015.
The original car had a base 305 PS 6-cylinder inline engine with a turbocharger, and there is great potential for tuning - but the standard version wields enough grunt for it to be fun.
For Malaysians, the 3.0 litre engine has 'bearable' road tax, so this is a good car to pick up, if you can find one. It's a great 'sleeper' car, and can still yield reasonable fuel economy if you want to drive sedately. The 8-speed auto-transmission is not as sharp as a DCT, but nowadays, the auto transmissions are getting to be very good.
The particular test car is 6 years old, but was lovingly kept by its original owner until our co-host today, Soon King took over the ownership a while ago.
The engine has gone through a Stage 1 tune, so has approximately 350 horses and 500 Nm of torque. Brakes are M-Performance 4-pot.

nice video as always Uncle YS. the thing most people don't realise is, just how good and fun the BMW 3 series cars are and it's something that been built into these cars for 7 generations and counting. you can take any 3 series straight out of the box and have a fun drive even in standard form.

Malaysia also has a few units of F30 340i with B58. Very rare car, the last unit i saw sold used on Mudah was rm240k before MCO.

This one costs so much less, and can but second hand. 4WD is faster around the bends, but this one, if set up properly, can give it a good run for the money. I am okay with either or.

Uncle is such a legend. I have a F30 320d. Planning for stage 1 tuning. But worried about the faster wear and tear reducing the lifespan of the car. What are your thoughts on engine tuning uncle? Would you recommend?
Of course when you drive harder the wear and tear on everything is accelerated. Stay stock if you are concerned. From your tone it seems you are not the type to exceed 4000 rpm, so any mods would probably be useless anyway.

Sometimes you want to jink it a little to help the tail to come out - that helps the car to turn. The purpose is to break traction.

try karting. easier to demo. pay for cheap kart, no brake just use steering to corner.
provoke the kart to point where u want to go. takes time to be confident.
I have an f30 335i as well, I'd seriously recommend getting an aftermarket titanium or stainless steel charge pipe to replace the crappy unreliable plastic charge pipe that BMW equipped the car with.

@@soonking3596 haha rare breed we have bro. A very worthwhile upgrade that’s normally left out by even Motörhead’s. After upgrading can accelerate off of tolls without the need to worry about the dreadful stock charge pipe cracking or blowing up hahaha
@@_Black_Jesus_ hahaha yes bro.. i only know 1 other person that has the same car, been looking around for other owners. That is true many leave it out as they feel it isnt important. I personally had mine crack twice before changing to the metal ones.

First came here around 2007as E92, face-lifted in 2009 and replaced by F30 335i in 2012, roughly.

The 340i is faster because it has xdrive, which helps it around the corners, and more power so it can accelerate faster.
