@MegaWinnieGirl True. It was a statistical generalization. My point was that no one has the right to deprive women of the right to defend themselves, by whatever means women see fit. During the Paleolithic Era, males routinely did whatever they wished to women they encountered. With the invention of firearms, any woman who has the strength to pull a trigger, can prevent a male predator from overpowering her. Women must not be deprived of this option.

About that family case: Having a gun doesn't necessarily mean no bullet can hit you. You can fire back (or shoot first, as you suggested), but guns don't make you bullet-proof. The odds rising the danger are at least at par to the odds of successful defense, or even higher since most cases don't contain punk monsters.

Im Australian and even with one of the strictest gun laws in the world i know where to get a gun, just saying you can ban guns but it won't make them impossible to get it will just make them illegal and harder to find..
The desired effect is to make guns harder to find. As an example, no one thinks a law against speeding will eliminate speeding, but ... speeding will occur less often.
Several school shootings occurred with legally bought weapons, and to claim that they would have occurred anyway is not stating facts. Do you know of any democratic country which have banned guns? I don't, the issue is called control.
Also 2nd amendment was created back when guns took 30 seconds to load and fired one shot at a time. Yet people claim the founders somehow knew every gun produced in the future and would still make it entirely the same without any exceptions. I for one wish every home had access to a RPG because they don't kill people people do.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" see that thats my argument and you can't argue with me anymore
Loved the part where Ali G criticized the 1 gun a month rule by using the Christmas argument and the spokes person said it was a very good point! Shows just how much some people will agree with very stupid arguments just because it supports their agenda. Reminds me of the left as well.
Maybe there is poverty in Europe and UK, I guaruntee in many cases it's not as bad as yours. However if any of you ever came to live in true North of the UK I could 100% guaruntee your safety yip without a gun too. How's that? we simply don't need them don't carry them and can even leave our doors open at night. To some extent I do pity your countries reliability for guns.
cenahater5000, I don't think you're doing much to help the pro-gun side by using filthy language and calling people you don't agree with childish and racist names. I do agree with what you say, self defense is obviously the most basic of human rights, but the way you say it could be a little more polite.
They need to regulate guns more. Guns should only be allowed if the person has a licence, which would have an ID number which would be ingraved on the gun. People could not own guns in a built up area; you can only have a gun if your in a relatively remote area eg on a farm, ranch or large estate. For personal protection people could have tasers and mace/pepper spray.
Scumbags will always pick a weapon with which to inflict damage... in the UK guns are hard to come by so knives are more common but that doesn't change the fact that a gun is a far more devastating weapon than a knife.
I know that .50 cal rifles are banned in CA. As far as I know .50 cal pistol are still legal in CA. Pre ban .50 cal rifles are fine to own. Im glad 1000's of .50 cal rifle were sold pre ban : )
@byron84 We could do with having guns legalised here in Europe. Especially the UK. People need to protect themselves and their families from the rising number of, let's say "scum".

The desired effect is to make guns harder to find. As an example, no one thinks a law against speeding will eliminate speeding, but ... speeding will occur less often.
the only thing banning guns does is stop to law abiding citizens from having guns and only letting criminals get them, Fact@@studiocorax8790
Several school shootings occurred with legally bought weapons, and to claim that they would have occurred anyway is not stating facts. Do you know of any democratic country which have banned guns? I don't, the issue is called control.
I'm british and I love the fact Americans carry guns. The people in America hold a lot of power. Not just the government.
***** more people die from alcohol and drugs in the USA every year than from guns.
+SmoothCobra 3 Lol you need to pick up a history book buddy!
Yeah lets buy guns to protect ourselves against the government while we die of cancer.
+Tommyfungun
Saddam Hussein had a lot of guns and more besides. It didn't do him any good when he got on the wrong side of the U.S. government.
Also 2nd amendment was created back when guns took 30 seconds to load and fired one shot at a time. Yet people claim the founders somehow knew every gun produced in the future and would still make it entirely the same without any exceptions. I for one wish every home had access to a RPG because they don't kill people people do.
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" see that thats my argument and you can't argue with me anymore
jordon pierce Ah, American brainwashing.
jordon pierce LOL
+Aruxion Jordon is right. We have a Constitution you statist fuck.
Hell yea anyone says otherwise can get the fuck out of here
I'm laughing so hard at how cringe you guys are xD
Laugh track is so awful why was it made
Guys, it's Ali G. Stop talking about politics and ENJOY THIS AMAZING ACTOR!
Dude, I don't like the political system and the laws in Australia, but I would have more important things to say in an Ali G interview!
@burnout541 Sounds like a plan!
No there is no proof as its a paradox. And the Bible is not the absolute law for everyone; we have the constitutional right to have our own religions.
Nobody has the RIGHT to anything. You have the RIGHT obey the laws of physics and thats it. The rest is just opinion and attempted self justification.
Hey, I like guns too... in movies and videogames. I'm just not really a fan of criminals running round the streets with them.
