    For years, we just did the blessing over candles, wine and bread. Then my daughter married an Israeli and I felt so inadequate with regard to our previous life-long practice of Shabbat blessings. I appreciate this video and will practice until perfect :) Todah rabah!

      You should never feel inadequate for the way you choose to practice the religion. Everyone connects to it and gd diffently. If you want to do more and explore further avenues thats fine but you should also be proud of the traditions that you have managed to keep for years

    Finally, a version perfectly articulated in a key that matches my range. Todah rabah.

    Thank you so much for your clearly explained and beautifully articulated and sung blessings. They are a great help in learning and memorizing the prayers. Todah rabah!

    Thank you Michael as I am teaching my sons Kiddish/Kiddush on Friday nights in our home, this helps a whole lot. We are all learning Hebrew prayers , and this past Shabbot was very special, we felt the presence of L-rd G-d come and hear our Sabbath prayers during candle lighting prayer and all of the others we are just now learning. It is exciting to hear my Sons say them to G-d in hebrew!! so thankful I found this so I can share it with them!! Baruch HaShem Chaverim and Shalom!!!

    Very nice. You sing the notes right on key and go slowly. Thanks for putting this up.

    Thanks for sharing this. I was teaching this to my adult Hebrew class this morning.Please note-there is a typo in the transliteration around minute 4:10. Hinchilanu is written as hinchaltanu-may be confusing for those trying to learn the Hebrew.

      Sharon, this has been drawn to my attention before but unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to deal with it. I made this video several years ago and am no immersed in other projects. My apologies for any confusion.

    Hi! I'm a Jew attempting to become more traditional. Must the Kiddush be chanted? I can read Hebrew but the chants are hard for me to remember.

    • @mikeweis64
      @mikeweis64  5 років тому +2

      There is no need to chant anything. As long as you can read the blessing, that is all that's required.

    No doubt about it: There is an error in the transliteration at ~4:12 wherein "hinchaltanu" is written and it should be hinchilanu, as the cantor sings it correctly. Hinchaltanu comes MUCH later in the prayer, somewhere around 5:08 I think. Great job, great vocalizations, great instructions. Thank you very much. Shalom.

    Shalom from Brazil. As I am getting to know Hebrew recently and in portuguese we have not got much material in Hebrew. No that I have found. so, I wonder if there is any possibility of you sharing this Erev Shabbat kidush with me please? I may thank you in advance and let you to know that I may get it translated to portuguese to share with other chaverim near my home. Lehitrot.
