Thank you Rabbi for taking the time to share our customs and beliefs in this way. I’m not a strict religious Jew but I’m always trying to do better. I thank Hashem for letting me find your channel. May G-d continue you bless you with such kindness and G-d’s wisdom. Shalom shalom
I know the verse in English, hearing it in Hebrew is amazing! I am not Jewish, but we share the same Old Testament. Thank you for the reminder that Joseph raised his family in the midst of a heathen culture and even worked for the Egyptian Pharoah! That should encourage all of us!
Hashem showed me that we cover the bread so no other prayer but the prayer for chala bread will be placed on the bread. HaShem said because of what the bread is made from like rising doe, other prayers will affect the bread. The wine you don't pure until your ready to pray over it. There are certain reasons why everything is done carefully. You understand more than others. You are the only one i have found very much close to the correct way to do everything. I really like your videos ❤
Greetings Rabbi, thank you so much for these video's. In South Africa we have a halachic whatsapp group, could I recommend them to share your videos on the group please?
Question - I work in healthcare, but some weekends I’m at work until 11pm on Friday when I return home, and Saturdays I’m off from work. When I come home is it ok to do the kiddish and blessing over challah only? I won’t light the candles but can I at least do kiddish and challah blessing? Can I recite the candle lights blessing without actually lighting the candles? And also if I didn’t light the candles is it ok to do the Havdalah ceremony? Please advise
I would love to give you a complete, well thought out answer. Unfortuanitely I didn't see this untill late Fri. afternoon. I'll continue after Shabbos. Have a wonderful and uplifting Shabbos
Regardless of whether or not you lit candles you would make Kiddush and eat challah on Fri night. Actually if you didn't say the Kiddush Fri night for some reason you would recite the Kiddush blessing over a cup of wine Shabbos day. At the end of Shabbos you would recite the Havdalah. If I can be of any assistance in your journey to keep Shabbos, please feel free to contact me at asrpr2@gmail.com @@RabbiRappaport
Question - I just recently started observing Shabbat. if I miss this coming Friday candle lighting, I need to always light one extra candle for the rest of my life. Correct? Or is it one extra candle only on the following Shabbat?
I would actually say that in your situation you wouldn't have to light an extra candle. For a person who Sabbath observant if they forget or miss once they always add an extra candle, for you who us just starting to keep Sabbath I wouldn't recommend an extra candle until you are more comfortable with Shabbos. I would love to continue this discussion if you want to. Better would be to connect with me through my email at askrpr2@gmail.com
The content is great, the videographer is horrible. I don’t know what their deal is with zoom, but they should have framed the shot before filming and left it alone. That said, toda rabah for this wonderful content, Rabbi! Shabbat Shalom! 🕊️ 🕯️ 🕯️ 🥖 🥖 🍷
So what? Do what works for you according to your Rabbi. Don’t tell the Rabbi how or how not to instruct, he will teach according to what his community needs. Seriously, you do realize everything on the internet isn’t about you or for you, right?? It’s cool you’re Chabad, but maybe you should be seeking out Chabad content and not ragging on other people for content that doesn’t apply to you. 🙄 Shabbat shalom

Question - I live alone and I always buy one big challah loaf. Is it ok just to use that one loaf or do I always need 2 loafs?
The first two meals of Shabbos are supposed to have two loaves. I would recommend you use Challah rolls or small challos.
