Missing some step to ensure correct level or proper quantity filled. •After fill to the overflow hole plug the level check hole temporsrily. •Start the engine and circle thruogh the gear P, R, D, S and back to P, momentarily stop aboit 3-5 second at each position. •Once the radiator started stop the engine. Unscrew the level check plug let excess fluid flow out til tickling out. If no fluid vome out top up til fluid flow out. •Finnally put the level check plug and tighten to spec. If you remove the airbox earlier, install it back after these final steps.
Great video, I personally fill back up via the CVT dipstick. Like you, I measure how much is drained and I add the same amount back. Getting the air box out is a headache, as you eloquently point out 😂
I’ve only filled via the bung. There maybe different methods and different versions of the cvt transmission. Here’s one i found showing a 2015 ua-cam.com/video/_uiqEYriJ1A/v-deo.html Glad you found the vid useful 👍
felicidades por el video profesor es el video que necesitaba muchas gracias he visto la mayoria de sus videos y estoy suscrito a su canal.saludos desde almeria españa.
Great video but I replaced my cvt oil on my 2015 Honda Fit made in America and did not remove the air box assembly I used a flexible hose and fed it down through the spill plug
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you! I’ve not got a link for the washers, but i’ve just typed in “Honda Jazz cvt washers” on eBay and it brought up various items 👍 I just asked for them at Honda when i purchased the oil.
Great video ! I want to try replace the cvt oil DIY, but difficult to buy the HCF2 Oil in Northampton, can you tell me where can buy the HCF 2. OIL, Thank you so much !
Thanks for the positive comment 👍 The Honda Main Dealer will have the oil. Listers Honda is in Northampton… 2 Museum Way Riverside Business Park NN3 9HW Hope this helps 👍
Theres no hole on the top that i know of. ( or maybe i just havent looked) ) We just use a clear hose and a small hand pump to pump the new fluid into that upper fill hole bolt. She only takes 1.7 qt.
I followed this guide the first time I changed CVT fluid (good guide). This time as I was watching the video again it struck me - why not just remove the battery? Its easier, faster and less of a hassle, and worked just as well^^
@@nw-diver The next time the father in-law wants his gearbox oil changed, i’ll remove the battery and record another video 👍 Thanks for the feedback, it’s good for anyone watching the video and reading the comments 😎 Regards, Sandy.
I have a question about the washer that you replace in this video and in the oil change video. Is this a part with a specific part number? I was planning on doing this but im kind of unsure about where to get this washer/its dimensions.
The crush washer is to have a proper seal once its crushed between the drain plug and gearbox casing. So a new crush washer will give a good proper seal, its cheap thou 😅
Great video and explanation, looking forward to doing it myself soon! Is there a reason that you didn’t fill the fluid through the fill plug, but to take the air box out to fill through the plastic bung?
Thanks for the positive comment! 👍 As far as i’m aware the plastic bung is the filler plug, but i could be incorrect 🤷 Don’t forget to check out my Honda Jazz Playlist 😉 Hope all goes well when carrying out the job. Report back on how it went 👍
If you can reach out to the filler rubber plug by sneaking betwen the battery and the air box, no need to remove the air box. A new crush washer gaurantee good seal avoiding leak.
Thanks for the question! I was unsure of the answer, so i gave the Honda main dealer near me a call, and he said… “there’s no filter on a 2017 cvt transmission”. He just recommended changing the cvt oil every two years. Sorry i didn’t know the answer, maybe worth doing some more research 🧐

Check out my jazz playlist 😜
I wouldn’t drink from that coffee cup after you sprayed that drain plug🤣🤣🤣
It all adds to the taste 😂😂
Well explained, I've got a 2015 can I use the dipstick or do I look for a rubber bung to fill up gear box

Yes, there are other ways to get the oil in.

There should be a rubber fill bung, it’s very hard to see and access.
I believe you.@@gilberesrepairs

So, you only removed the battery, none of the air box assembly?
Agreed! Yeah just lifted the battery out and unplugged some of the electric cables. It felt like cheating🤣

I purchased the washers from Honda when i purchased the CVT oil. I’m unsure of the dimensions, sorry.

When do we need to change the CVT filter? Mine already doing about 50k Miles

30k Miles is when you should be changing the cvt fluid
@@archie_bunker Excellent, thanks for the information 👍
There is a filter in gearbox but Honda don't have it as a routine maintenace to replace it.
The CVT Fluid to change every 30k miles or 2 years.
Help! . I added 4 quarts and the level hole is still not dripping. 3.6 liters came out (if that matters)
Are quarts the same as litres?
I’m in the uk, so we use litres.
Is the car sat flat on a level floor?
@@gilberesrepairs 3,784mls in four quarts. I think it's enough to drip. The car is leveled
@@LuisOrtiz-ko6yt Has the gearbox got any signs of previous leaks?
I would add another 200ml to see if it starts to spill out.
@@gilberesrepairs I'll get an extra bottle tomorrow. Thanks a lot.
