I have a great tip for you Ari. If you ever have that happen again, you can cut back the white and the overspray paint area with Tamiya Polycarbonate cleaner using an earbud. After you remove the overspray, you then blow it back in and you can't see it anymore. I've done it a few times myself and it's saved a few paint jobs along the way. It's a right pain I know, as you don't see the overspray until you put down the lighter colour. Great video :)
Just remember, the kits that take the longest to build are the best kit's!!!!!!!! P/S, I think your wheels are spot on, I think that's exactly how I'll do mine! Ralphie
That came out really nice. Great save with the strategic decal placement. We all have to do that every now and then! The bodies always take so long to come out that well.
Wow, what an absolutely stunning looking car, you've done a fantastic job! I have a real soft spot for the early to mid 1980's Group C racing cars, they were the best looking racing cars ever made, in my opinion. Awesome stuff!!
Great build, impressed by your handy work! Always wanted one of these when raced RC cars in the 80s, if they released the TWR Group C Jaguar would have to get one
Dot 3 brake fluid on a Q-tip removes little paint screw ups. Retouch paint, and it's perfect. I have used that method on lexon bodies going back to my Tamiya Frog in the 80s.
Long time Tamiya Lover and kit builder, with MANY kits! l think you did an excellent job! I'm in the process of starting the same body, and THANK YOU for the tips and warnings! My first RC car, Porsche 959 in 1989......"Shelf Queen" after realizing what l had! Thanks for your video!😊👍
Use Hair Dryer to heat up stickers after application. Heat them up and press with finger or soft cloth. They will be almost like melted to chassis. Tamiya stickers are perfect to use this method.
That's beautiful! Great job with the paint and body work. It's funny. I'm looking at where you filmed at the train station and I said to myself looks like Long Island. Then I saw the sign for the highway.
LOL... Just wanted to show my mistakes... Didn't want to pretend like it was perfect when it wasn't but in the grand scheme of things it didn't really matter considering I was taking it for a run. No matter how careful you are something gets scuffed or scrapped
I try to finish the body before I build the chassis to avoid being burnt out on the build. Love this kit but Tamiya needs to stop screwing around and rerelease the 959 already. Looks great!
I think we will see the 959 for 50th release, but unfortunately not how we want it. With the release last year of new Porsche dakar I think it will be that as some tribute?
That’s the most sole destroying feeling. Peeling back the protective film and finding overspray. Turned out great. The decals have changed from original so adding a few extra doesn’t do any harm. It looks factory that’s the main thing. I’d always use symmetry when adding any decals if possible 👍
I had a mean uncle with this kit originally... he screwed it up so bad paint and build wise it broke my heart... love seeing a newer version but old school finish on a cool old school kit!!!
I just noticed the racers names decals.the top name is Jackie Ickx , i think he was Belgian and I remember him particularly because he raced and shared a car at Bathurst in NSW Australia with Allan Moffat a Canadian who had moved to Australia in the 1960's and was spectacularly famous for his touring car racing victories driving Ford Falcon GT and GTHO .very nice work on this Porsche. 👍👌
I am in the same boat, the chassis was super fun and quick and the body slowed me down a lot and I have not felt like cutting out the decals and getting them on there yet! I really need to and it will probably be a Thanksgiving day thing for me. I agree that the sticker make great oops fixes and like you said, unless you know they look like they are supposed to be there! As far as changing the livery to suit what you like, go for it! I couldn't tell one from another so whatever combo looks the best it the way you should do it!
This is spectacularly beautiful stunning. Does this kit have the Rothmans tobacco livery? In Australia we have a ban on tobacco advertising so I'm pretty sure we can't get the Rothmans decals. Very nice 👌👍♥️
It comes with decals that say 'Racing' instead of Rothmans, which was what the real Rothmans team used in countries that didn't allow tobacco advertising on the cars. There is a company named MCI that sells aftermarket Rothmans stickers for this kit.
Did you know that Tamiya also made a small Tamtech version of this car? Also, Kyosho made a 1/12 scale version of this car with a pre-painted body and also a clear body. Both of those cars are no longer made. Thoughts?
Was because of your channel and the purchase of your MCI decals that I made the decision to change what was intense blue to royal blue and I am hoping that when the decals get here the blues actually match up properly. I am also going to do some Porsche sacrilege and I am going to go pro white where it should be PS one. I drive the Mercedes C 11 my daughter that’s eight years old is the Porsche fanatic and a Volkswagen and when I come to think of it as well as Audi. Volkswagen Porsche Audi I believe they’re all the same anyways my son began to get upset that we were about to have so much fun that he just begin randomly looking on eBay trying to find something in that class and unfortunately he stumbled upon a really really good, Really well priced 1999 Toyota GT one TS 020. And he took all of his allowance money and I have never seen a child clean more dishes and more chores that were unnecessary then that 10-year-old kid has done in the past month but he made it and we are now looking at A new car that really shouldn’t be built. They should be sitting on a collectors shelf, but we are about to crack it open and build after we complete the Porsche 956, we’re about to work on the 1990s Tamiya Toyota GT one. And I am really scared of the triple decal sheet that makes the red paint job look as if there are white hairs in the paint job each one of those decal sheets were you don’t know where to cut and what lines to follow because there aren’t any
Thats amazing that your kids are into the hobby especially your daughter at a young age. Thats great that you have something to share with them... Your passion is now there's.... With paint and stickers...just take your time... I know its early but Happy Holidays.
Hah. "Blast from the past". I had the Nissan. Beautiful, detailed body, mirrors, air-duct, full-interior and all. Terrible chassis, though. Not an F1, and not a pro-10. Combining the worst traits of both. Too heavy, for starters, absolutely terrible tires, laughable "suspension". Only worked for a bit on heavily cola/sprite sprinkled circuits. Replaced them with 1/8 Onroad soft compound Comp foams. Hand-turned to fit the body. Sauced them to the moon (always stank up the place.. "could cause cancer.."
Very nice! The challenges were well worth it. Well done!
I have a great tip for you Ari.

What do you mean with "blow it back in"? Thanks!

Ralphie
Ok yes
wow that looks spot on. and that Tamiya sticker up front looks really good.. so much so, I may do the same!
The good modeller is the one who knows how to hide mistakes my friend! Good Job! i hope tamiya releases the same chasis but with Mazda 787B body.
That came out really nice. Great save with the strategic decal placement. We all have to do that every now and then! The bodies always take so long to come out that well.

Nice work, my friend had this back in 89 and I had the Toyota Toms.
Gauranga

Thank you and glad you enjoyed it
That car came out beautiful and looks great running. Good job Ari
Thank you
Unreal, looks awesome, cheers from this Aussie in China!
I have this sitting my bench ready to get started. Yours looks nice bro! Always tricky doing white last cause it shows everything.
Wow that turned out beautiful! Congratulations on a successful build!

For sure. I use a blow dryer... works great.
That's beautiful! Great job with the paint and body work. It's funny. I'm looking at where you filmed at the train station and I said to myself looks like Long Island. Then I saw the sign for the highway.
Very nice build, i like this beautiful car.
You: So there's this microscopic bit of overspray, let me zoom in a billion so you can possibly see it
Me: gimme that running video of this bad boy!
😆
LOL... Just wanted to show my mistakes... Didn't want to pretend like it was perfect when it wasn't but in the grand scheme of things it didn't really matter considering I was taking it for a run. No matter how careful you are something gets scuffed or scrapped
I wish I could buy all these cars, that came out awesome and I just love it!! Nice work.

I hope a 959 is in the future for tamiya.. fingers crossed.
And the Group B Celica.
I think we will see the 959 for 50th release, but unfortunately not how we want it. With the release last year of new Porsche dakar I think it will be that as some tribute?
I think all the cigarette company advertising on the original was too problematic for a rerelease, or so I read somewhere
Looks like it drives pretty well ! I haven't put electronics in , i was going to shelf it in mint condition.

Yes, you are right, stickers ARE what makes the cars go faster. Probably the most important part of any build.😁
Hahaha thanks...
I had a mean uncle with this kit originally... he screwed it up so bad paint and build wise it broke my heart... love seeing a newer version but old school finish on a cool old school kit!!!
Beautiful job on the build. Body looks fantastic.
Great result, sometimes it really works being creative with decals!
The car looks great!
Thanks for sharing.
paint my car any-day pal superb build.🤩
excellent job on the finish really nice paint work and decal cutting and install!!! that took some time
great model, super work
Nice job, mate!
Wonderful build and paint 👍 And looks even nicer once in motion 😎 Well done 🤝
It's been a long time since I've seen a 1/10th pan car chassis in a kit. Beautiful looking result there Ari, well done sir.
It looks great. Good job. Mine's on hold as it's too cold to paint outside where I live now.
Looks sic the body is the finishing touch
Came out great.

Great job on the body, i agree with the yellow window sticker 👌 it defo looks better with the rothmans lettering aswell
Fabulous looking kit. I've just received mine but am terrified of Painting the bodyshell
I know that area.... great place to drive... I used to live just North of there.
It looks great. Your car, do it your way. Kick the tires and light the fires.
Exactly... thanks.

What a beautiful model👍
Man I still haven’t built my Mercedes C11 kit since its release! Now I got to go and order this one as well! 😂

I drive this car on Forza Motorsports. It’s phenomenal!
Nice
Race it next year on the fenderbender Race way your super fan 😂.

My LHS sold like 3 of these as they were were being offloaded off the delivery truck.
Does the manual tell you which spray color to use? Is there a code for the colors? Just white and blue correct?
You only use white and blue spray paint. Tamiya PS1 white and PS4 Blue
Running @ 8:20... music instead of drivetrain/tire sounds
Lol, stickers are my go-to if i mess up something on the paint. 😂😂😂🤷🤦♂️
Can you Tell me where i can get the Rothman stickers?❤
mciracing.ca and make sure you choose 1/10 scale
Miss the Nissan r390ck

With a beauty like that You need a show er and a go er.
Tamiya, why didn't you make the front and rear wheels match?
I just work with what I got. But I think there is someone on UA-cam who has a video out about 3d printing wheels.
The wheels are the same as the full size racing car - the "Racing" version not the "Rothmans" version. Google it.

Pour-Sha
I am shocked that this car is 159 dollars, I guess the add ups and get pricey though.
same old chassis and a new 956 body should have been done 30 years ago

ITS SO DAMN SLOW what a joke.
Cool...
Cool car, but this music sucks.
What type of music do you like?
Why are you here for the music? Just mute it
Nice car but man your music just blows. These came out in the 80s. Use music from the era
Had to hit mute, that music was awful.
