Ngl I feel like the reason Drakes music dominates numbers is that it’s so viby and non offensive that clothing stores and general stores play his songs on repeat lol
Exactly what mos def was saying. Not to mention he’s pushed by the machine that is UMG down everyone’s throats. They market their cash cow and make sure he’s constantly in the lime light. Which is why he constantly does “numbers” which can also be fortified to push streams or views up for the artist.
Gordo said that he was making this album while making Honestly Nevermind. You can look this up. He even said " this is why it will sound similar". This is a Gordo track. It's not a 40 or Boi1da track. I dunno why people are surprised by this.
Here's the thing about this new shit, and broadly his past few years of work: if it was some shit that was made on the fly at a bar by a single unkown person using loops and whatnot it'd be cool. It isn't though, it's made by the one of the biggest artists right now, and that's just sad.
It goes to show how the mental state of men had been lowered because Fakes music definitely lowers the bar. I can’t even listen to that dude. He’s to simply minded. He stays on so Kid Bop ish and that’s creepy looking at it now….
Can you imagine Drake ever having to produce something as exciting, chaotic, bursting, wild, nuanced, clever, witty, jazzy, organic and layered as 'For Free? (Interlude)'.
Owlboy has been one of the biggest benefactors of the streaming era. I truly don't believe any era after Scorpion would do well if it were dependent on physical sales... Which, if physicals were still the standard, maybe the decline/direction of his music doesn't go this deep into the fastfood lane. I don't respect the last 7 of his 13/14 #1 records, they DEBUT #1 bc he's Drake, then fall out of the #1 spot the following week. That's not a true #1, it's just streaming that props mans up like a crutch. This why i sincerely would love for RIAA and the certs to seperate Physical Era from Streaming era. He can be the king of streaming #1s but leave the Physical Era records to the artist that put the industry on their backs in their time. This long. Lol ayo
6:26 "I know he caters to a lot of, um-" my first thought when you hit the um was "kids? Little 13 year old girls?" I know that's not nice, but damn it made me laugh 😂

The Drake stimulus is gone. But I think Drake fans overrate how good Family Matters was & aren’t giving enough credit to other rappers. What I mean is that, if you look at break down videos, they aren’t overwhelming, the flows and cadences aren’t difficult to imitate. If Childish Gambino’s Yoshinoya teaches us anything, it’s that so many other rappers can outshine Drake. There number of artists is greater than we think and so long as you are being authentic you are already a few points ahead of Drake because that comparison is always there. We’ll know for sure when A$AP Rocky’s next album comes out. But so far we’ve seen so many people get the better of Drake by just being better artists at this point.
No I'm a fan he has to fucking rap or shut up. He needs to make That snippet at the end of 9 on Views. "They tried to kill me but they still want the Views... But I am very much alive on the 6ixxxx Sidddeeee " bro that would be his best bet. Just go list3n to the last minute of 9. He could sing that then RAP LIKE TIMESTAMP. He needs to Combine his singing with his time stamp verses. He needs to Mashup his sounds with real lyrics. I'm telling yall he is Mad at America. He knows we don't really fw this. Drake tryna get Dropped from his label lmao frfr
I still disagree with your take that no one else in the industry could've put up a better fight than Drake. Largely due to the fact that Drake made a lot of missteps on his own that caused him to do so poorly to begin with. And I also disagree that any other rapper would've lost to Family Matters. But I guess it depends what you mean, Drake would win most battles just because his fanbase wouldn't let him lose but realistically there's plenty of guys who would cook him bar for bar (including the last guy he lost to). Drake to me just isn't a battler. The Meek beef was a fluke Drake won off pure strategy. Meek wasn't ready for diss tracks and hitting him with back to back disses in the span of 4 days just forced Meek to rush a terrible response out. To this point we really haven't seen Drake go up against real competition and even make it a close battle. His one win was against a really bad response from Meek. I'm just not convinced he's a force to be reckoned with in a battle. Good artist, bad battler imo. Would love to see him prove me wrong tho.
Drake didn't loose to pusha t lyrically. The only reason pusha t won was because of the tea but surprisingly drake had the better diss which was very surprising against someone like pusha t
@@Abdullah-vg1uc Drake absolutely lost lyrically. No clue why people try to push this narrative that Drake outbarred Push. It's a complete fantasy. Duppy was mid at best lyrically, Duppy vs. Infrared, Drake already lost the battle from a lyrical standpoint. Story of Adidon was just a burial. What crazy lines did Drake have on Duppy? It was just a bunch of basic punches. Nothing particularly impressive lyrically and also not much that really relates to his opponent. Duppy was a better song than it was a diss.
How big is his fanbase if a mere 1%-2% of his 145 million IG followers didn’t counteract the nearly 2 million dislikes on Heart Part 6? And only a handful of that 146 million listened to his last 8 or so features and leaks?
@@CeeCeeMarie. The problem in this battle with Kendrick is that there's a lot more crossover between Drake fans and Kendrick fans than people think. They're both superstar rap artists, obviously not particularly similar artists but still, when two guys are that big in the same genre there's going to be a significant amount of crossover between the fanbases, which eliminated that advantage. You'd be surprised how much pop fans like Kendrick too. Between the Beyonce and T. Swift features and numerous pop stars like Prince, Madonna, Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Dua Lipa publicly singing his praises, Kendrick has gained quite a bit of respect from communities that Drake usually relies on for support. People underestimate how broad Kendricks reach is. It's precisely why Drake could never win just by being "more popular".
@@Zack-vi7is I agree with you 100% on all points. That does explain why his fans outweighed Pusha T’s fans and their beef didn’t do much damage to Drake. I noticed that Drake went from 146m to 145m followers on IG post beef (I’m sure he paid for millions to raise his numbers). He has less fans on Reddit than Kendrick does. I see more love for Kendrick online and deeper discussions about his music. Kendrick is loved by people from all walks of life. The bulk of Drake fans have shifted from women to young men. He hasn’t been that sweet guy from Toronto in so many years… I don’t think he’ll be able to win back his female fans after all the talk of guns, mob ties, etc. I never looked at him as a rapper. He ran from so many rap beefs the last decade. His sugar daddies saved him from several. He is a spectator not a competitor at rap battles. He avoids most interviews and won’t allow any interviewers to ask him to spit as they do real rappers/lyricists. And I also don’t think he’s a fierce opponent to any rapper. It’s the writers who should be feared. Drake is simply reciting. And that’s what his stans don’t want to believe.

This is exactly. It was like Fox News playing at all the airports terminals. Not even considered trustworthy news, but was the #1 station.
that drake style freestyle was actually hilariously on point
I like Drake with the melodies 😂😂😂
He should've taken a year break. Or not feature in anyone's music, then drop an album.
Kendrick was being way too kind when he said he liked the melodies.

His whole style is copying elements from South African house music
