You have to remember drake gained his core audience with this album, and we felt everything he said because we were leaving high school and he was making the soundtracks to our life's. Basically I'm saying this album was the most relatable album of our generation and now that we're older and I our late 20's early 30's. It's nostalgia for us at this point it's a classic.

6:30 what she’s describing is the OVO sound that Drake and his producer 40 have perfected. The samples, drums etc are downsampled (played at a lower sample rate) to give that underwater feeling.
People mistake it for just using a low pass filter to cut out the higher frequencies but it’s not, 40’s way is much better.

The reason why I think people think it’s his best album is because of nostalgia and this album is way more R&B heavy (like views) so it’s more popular with girls particularly. Most fans who love his rapping prefer Nothing Was The Same or if you’re reading this it’s too late and a lot of people (including Drake himself) say NWTS is his best album. Most cohesive. I highly recommend checking out the timestamp records. They are only 6 songs and have his BEST rapping and will make for a nice short video. Full of disses (P diddy, Kanye, Tyga etc etc) and just demonstrates his best rapping. I agree with you when you say you’ve heard him rap way better because he has improved significantly since Take Care.

Nah bruh. The reason we think its his best album is BECAUSE ITS more R&B heavy. Drake has always been a rapper with a great R&B voice to since I was in HS and I think many people can agree. When you tell me to list rappers, Biggie, Eminem, Lil Wayne and others come to mind. Just to name some examples. Drake doesn't come up in my head as a rapper. More of an R&B singer who can rap.

i like the honest opinions here. and when you played marvins room, you hit it right on the head. drake is my favorite artist because he makes music that ive lived in real life. the same exact situation he sang about in marvins room, ive been there, multiple times. partying hard to get over someone just to get drunk and feel even worse about the situation so you call her up and make the situation worse by bad mouthing her new partner

Her Loss reaction would’ve been great. Glad you started with this though. Understand the criticism of this album especially years after its release, y’all also have to realize this is when Drake FINALLY established himself, so him talking about women, strippers, and drama in his life makes sense considering this was all new to him. Hope y’all continue his discography

Like others have already said a lot of the love for this album is nostalgia and it's very strongly relatable for a lot of people on the time of it's release, as a lot of us who love this album were probably at the age of just finding our footing with relationships and stuff. It captures that whole vibe really well, sonically and lyrically.
I get the feeling it doesn't hit as much for you guys due to this and your circumstances making it not really relatable as you mentioned on Doing It Wrong. Which I feel also soured maybe some really good tracks later on in the listing.
His story telling on Look What You've Done is really nice and sincere, it's one of his best songs imo. Maybe not sonically as admittedly it does drag a little. I think the vibe on Real Her is nice also, Wayne and Andre's verse are both fun and filled with witty one liners. I think we can all agree The Ride is amazing too, glad you guys liked that one.

I think NWTS is a good album to react to next. It's my favorite and most concise album of his(13 songs and 2 bonus tracks). The albums has a pretty good balance of the rap, r&b, and pop stuff. While his voice, lyrics, flows, charisma, production is also more improved from Take Care, this was also a time when Drake starting to rap over more harder hip hop instrumentals then the ones he was doing on Take Care, Thank Me Later, and So Far Gone.
