It's beautiful! I really love the two tones of wood used in the island and it's the perfect size for the kitchen. What a perfect addition to what is now a much more functional kitchen. Great job, Jason and I'm so happy for you Lorraine!!
That's what I call perfection. How versatile is that? You can do so many things with this table like Lorraine said. You should make and sell these! Excellent!
Jason, if you change the refrigerator door to open the other way, it will be more efficient, with the flow of the kitchen. You did a wonderful job with the island!
I will stop commenting to get a rolling toolbox for a kitchen island now. But, I still maintain it’s the best solution for a kitchen island I’ve ever seen
Lorraine, if anyone needs a good working kitchen, it's you! SO deserved! So many people have gourmet kitchens and hardly ever cook. And Jason does such good work. Congrats both of you, it seems a long time coming!
I love all the options you have with the Island. It is not SO big that it constricts traffic flow plus super sturdy. Plus.. it LOOKS Gorgeous 😍 Yup a towel bar for sure.
Too funny, when the pic popped up of the island i immediatrly had a smile on my face! I think i was almost as excited as you guys! I feel you Lorraine and you're a good man Jason. Admire you two soo much
I love seeing your home come together, it’s so full of life and personality, it may be a slow process but it’s turning out thoughtful and wise as much as it is lovely to look at. Far more satisfying than a cookie cutter Pinterest home you can tell just had piles of money thrown at it.
Kitchen really looks good and so functional. So much prep room. Jason, you are a wonderful builder. Lorraine is very lucky to have such a handy partner. You compliment one another wonderfully.
You guys did such amazing job on the kitchen. Great build on the butcher block island Jason. Love how P is reading as you guys are celebrating, homeschooling at its best
Still waiting for Ben to surprise Meg with a long farm house table. Happy to see this island for the kitchen Loraine is such a sweet hard working woman.
Wow!! You all have done a great job getting all you can out of the small space!! Functional and the aesthetic is just as Lorraine had in mind. I am amazed at everything she can make happen in this kitchen. It’s not easy to preserve in the quantities she does in even the biggest kitchen, but she definitely has the skills. And Jason has the skills to make it all work hard and last. Stunning new kitchen 🫶
Probably to late to mention this for you. However others might appreciate this thought. On something like this i would definitely include quality locking casters. Makes it so much easier to move out of the way for clearing or when you decide to do things differently in the kitchen or whatever. Years down the road eveytime you move it you will be so happy you did. Have a great day 🌤.
What a beautiful kitchen island Jason. Nicely done. Personally, I love the fragrance of cedar, as well as the color. When I lived in North Carolina we had some dying cedar trees on the edge of the property that we had cut down. We used it for firewood, and it gave off an amazing fragrance. May your kitchen island see many decades of use.
Yes, it may have been a month ago but in the meantime you weathered a hurricane, hurricame remedy work, replaced the barn's facia boards, got gutters, and did some freezer camp work.
I grew up with a harvest-style kitchen right down to a grinder inset into the end of the center island for sauces and sausages that seemed to be in endless production. Where us kids knew that if we got out of line, we didn't get to go stand daydreaming in a corner or lout about being secluded in our room. Instead, we were sentenced to cranking the grinder for hours on end as penance for our sins. The ceaseless march of canning, curing, blanching, smoking, baking, drying, churning, frying, stirring... never ends when your family home's dining table seats twenty and never has an empty seat or a friend left uninvited to a meal made with love from what was grown or caught on the land or traded for in kind from the neighbors in the next holler 'round the way. That kitchen of yours is perfect encapsulating form and function without sacrificing beauty. Lorraine runs a tight ship with everything set just so leaving me wishing I could smell what is cooking in there. Your kitchen and table area may be smaller, but it keeps drawing my mind back to those days of bucolic bliss that even as my hands grew blisters into callouses cranking that grinder, I knew it was special to be there, be loved, be deservedly punished, and protest, as I might, part of me delighted in listening to the old women talk about the old men, God, and what's for dinner, because it is filled with the same since of purpose, friends, family, and fellowship as the one where I came from. God bless you and yours, and thank you for the upload.
You do great work Jason. Your wife, however, needs a separate kitchen either attached or detached from your home. You have a nice workshop that helps you do what you need to do and so should your wife have what she needs. A separate area with a sink, stove, lots of counter space (preferably with a fair amount of it being stainless steel), shelves to do canning, dehydrating, freeze drying, fermenting.
Yay, The kitchen island!! I’ll admit I’ve been waiting for this build too and it’s not even my kitchen, lol. Great job Jason and Congratulations Lorraine
Oh my, what a beautiful island! I’m jealous! Since you spend so much time in your kitchen and dining area have you given thought to putting a patio door or French doors where your large window is by your table. Then you can bring the outside in and expand your area even more!
Love the island and its versatility. Sorry, but I may have missed your response to being able to change the swing of your refrigerator doors. If you’re able to make that change, it will make the flow of your kitchen even better.
Nice job on the Island.😎 Needing to be Able to Make Something, That Would Serve Many Reasons. And to Do It With Stuff Laying Around… Kinda Priceless.👍😎💯 Saw you on a channel with Al and Another. Been Watching Al for Years. I Appreciate You Sharing, and Your Knowledge. Look Forward to More Videos.
What a beautiful makeover and the island is the cherry on top! Hard to believe it’s the same room. It looks gorgeous, and sooo much more functional. You both can be very proud….well done!!! 👏👏👏
The island is reminding me a lot of Victorian ‘unfitted’ kitchens, they had lots of moving tables and cabinets so they could do all the hard farm work a kitchen does! Love it and I have a very similar one in mine too!
🌺Lorraine you look so happy makes me happy just watching you young kids do all the projects and all the planning that goes into your very special homestead! Congratulations and continue on!
Hey Jason a timber Baking Box under the center island for all those small baking bits we collect, (cookie cutters, piping bags, thermometers) would be the perfect end of the kitchen reno
Island looks really nice. My husband made me one also. Holds the kitchen aide mixer, toaster, blender and crock pot. Gave me counter space back. it is gonna be so handy to have.
i think it will flow and feel better if you flip the hinges on the fridge as the open door becomes part of the room divide so having it open with access to the fridge being from the kitchen side instead of the dining room side
You folks need to configure a wood stove in your future plans.... I keep on seeing little bits of scrap wood from your projects and allmi can think of is -fire starter/ kindling.
I love the new kitchen island. It turned out very nice. I noticed when you're daughter opened the fridge you might want to change the door so that it opens on the other side. It's easier when you're cooking if the fridge opens towards the work area.
The best bright and useful kitchen around , Love the work you did with the island, I been working with recycle wood for over 40 years, Sure saves on the wallet, Nice job Jason
The island is perfect!!! Lorraine dreams it and Jason builds it. Fantastic job. 👏👏👏

Jason, if you change the refrigerator door to open the other way, it will be more efficient, with the flow of the kitchen. You did a wonderful job with the island!
They probably have a kit for that.
So BEAUTIFUL!! I could watch you build all day long!! What a talent!!
I will stop commenting to get a rolling toolbox for a kitchen island now. But, I still maintain it’s the best solution for a kitchen island I’ve ever seen
I use one for my office desk.
@ this is the way
My parents bought a tall one for pantry storage for their old farmhouse.
Jason, you should draw up the plans and add them to your website! It turned out gorgeous, and I love how versatile it is! Great job!
Too funny, when the pic popped up of the island i immediatrly had a smile on my face! I think i was almost as excited as you guys! I feel you Lorraine and you're a good man Jason. Admire you two soo much

That looks so nice, great job Jason it makes her kitchen just right for Lorraine...
I love seeing your home come together, it’s so full of life and personality, it may be a slow process but it’s turning out thoughtful and wise as much as it is lovely to look at.

The island is so versatile and it also looks great. Good job Jason.
You guys did such amazing job on the kitchen. Great build on the butcher block island Jason. Love how P is reading as you guys are celebrating, homeschooling at its best
I love how the green bowl on the shelf ties everything together. (I’m surprised you didn’t reverse the fridge doors.)
YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been waiting for the island build!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still waiting for Ben to surprise Meg with a long farm house table. Happy to see this island for the kitchen Loraine is such a sweet hard working woman.
We are too. The Hollers and Sow the land came for my neck of the woods and I'm out here too. I love watching them all
Looks lovely everything you create always awesome to me. Great work made with care and love 👍🏽
Hi, Jason! Your workshop is certainly organized. I’m loving the stainless steel table you are working on. It reminds me of a restaurant table.
Nice job Jason that island is going to be so convenient for Larraine's homestead kitchen. Your kitchen has really turned out beautiful.
So very happy your sweetheart gets her island!!!
Yay Lorraine. How beautiful, Jason !! Looks wonderful. The kitchen looks awesome. 😁😁😁

They said they purposely built it without because they did not like the look.
Agreed!!!

Haven’t started watching the video yet, but just saying right off the bat, Love the thumbnail. You guys are adorable!
Fantastic addition to the kitchen. Multi purpose and Lorraine is happy!

Island should be about the size of the table.... Lorraine said she uses the table all the time... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT 🎉🎊🥳💕💕🥰🙏👍👋👋👋👋👋
Gorgeous! Nice craftsmanship and design. Maybe paint the posts in the corners the same color as the cabinets?
Beautiful and functional island! Great job!
For keeping the island still, I find shelf liner rubber sheets keep even cutting boards stable. Beautiful piece of furniture! Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦🌻
Looks great! I’m again so blown away at how Jason can take sticks of wood and turn it into something beautiful. Such a talented guy!! ❤😊
Clever Jason. As long as your dear wife is smiling 😊 the kitchen is so much better.

Great to see Loraine’s lovely smile!
You do beautiful work Jason.
What a lovely kitchen now! You could switch the refrigerator door to the other side maybe??
A beautiful piece. Impeccably made. Yay❤❤❤
That is perfection. Just switch that door handle and you would have a perfect square work space. Handy man to have around.
Really wish you would do a build book of all the stuff u build with cut lengths and steps
have you seen the build plans on our website?
@ awesome thanks for the tip ❣️
Can you reverse the doors on the fridge/freezer? I think that would be a very good strategic move for your kitchen.
Island looks really nice. My husband made me one also. Holds the kitchen aide mixer, toaster, blender and crock pot. Gave me counter space back. it is gonna be so handy to have.
Jason's got the best eye-crometer around! what a build, nice.
i think it will flow and feel better if you flip the hinges on the fridge as the open door becomes part of the room divide so having it open with access to the fridge being from the kitchen side instead of the dining room side
You folks need to configure a wood stove in your future plans.... I keep on seeing little bits of scrap wood from your projects and allmi can think of is -fire starter/ kindling.
I’m loving the kitchen and the island just looks amazing and goes really well with the cabinets xx
I love the new kitchen island. It turned out very nice. I noticed when you're daughter opened the fridge you might want to change the door so that it opens on the other side. It's easier when you're cooking if the fridge opens towards the work area.
Yet again another great project… sweet Lorraine is surely happy❤
Really a beautiful island. Just watch that you don't get a little rock under the legs before dragging it around. Dinner looks delicious 😋
It's beautiful! I'd take one just like it!❤
You should continue floating shelves on the other side of window n stove. Love Island ❤️
