It's beautiful! I really love the two tones of wood used in the island and it's the perfect size for the kitchen. What a perfect addition to what is now a much more functional kitchen. Great job, Jason and I'm so happy for you Lorraine!!

Wow!! You all have done a great job getting all you can out of the small space!! Functional and the aesthetic is just as Lorraine had in mind. I am amazed at everything she can make happen in this kitchen. It’s not easy to preserve in the quantities she does in even the biggest kitchen, but she definitely has the skills. And Jason has the skills to make it all work hard and last. Stunning new kitchen 🫶

Probably to late to mention this for you. However others might appreciate this thought. On something like this i would definitely include quality locking casters. Makes it so much easier to move out of the way for clearing or when you decide to do things differently in the kitchen or whatever. Years down the road eveytime you move it you will be so happy you did. Have a great day 🌤.

What a beautiful kitchen island Jason. Nicely done. Personally, I love the fragrance of cedar, as well as the color. When I lived in North Carolina we had some dying cedar trees on the edge of the property that we had cut down. We used it for firewood, and it gave off an amazing fragrance. May your kitchen island see many decades of use.

Yes, it may have been a month ago but in the meantime you weathered a hurricane, hurricame remedy work, replaced the barn's facia boards, got gutters, and did some freezer camp work.

I grew up with a harvest-style kitchen right down to a grinder inset into the end of the center island for sauces and sausages that seemed to be in endless production.
Where us kids knew that if we got out of line, we didn't get to go stand daydreaming in a corner or lout about being secluded in our room. Instead, we were sentenced to cranking the grinder for hours on end as penance for our sins. The ceaseless march of canning, curing, blanching, smoking, baking, drying, churning, frying, stirring... never ends when your family home's dining table seats twenty and never has an empty seat or a friend left uninvited to a meal made with love from what was grown or caught on the land or traded for in kind from the neighbors in the next holler 'round the way.
That kitchen of yours is perfect encapsulating form and function without sacrificing beauty. Lorraine runs a tight ship with everything set just so leaving me wishing I could smell what is cooking in there. Your kitchen and table area may be smaller, but it keeps drawing my mind back to those days of bucolic bliss that even as my hands grew blisters into callouses cranking that grinder, I knew it was special to be there, be loved, be deservedly punished, and protest, as I might, part of me delighted in listening to the old women talk about the old men, God, and what's for dinner, because it is filled with the same since of purpose, friends, family, and fellowship as the one where I came from. God bless you and yours, and thank you for the upload.

You do great work Jason. Your wife, however, needs a separate kitchen either attached or detached from your home. You have a nice workshop that helps you do what you need to do and so should your wife have what she needs. A separate area with a sink, stove, lots of counter space (preferably with a fair amount of it being stainless steel), shelves to do canning, dehydrating, freeze drying, fermenting.
