@darumember Thank you for visiting our auto repair channel on UA-cam. If we make any future repairs on a 98 Ford Ranger we'll keep this in mind for an auto repair video.
Great vid, my '94 Ranger has a separate top bar and grille (2-piece) and the nut for the park light was 12 mm, not 11. Definitely needed the grille out of the way. Got the lights changed and the truck looks awesome. Thanks!
98 ranger...just did mine go from the back...take out the battery or whatever else is in the way. Turn plastic collar counter clockwise. Slide it off. Use a screwdriver to unclip the wire fitting. Pull off wire fitting. Remove old bulb by pulling straight out, no turning. Insert new bulb, clip side up. Attach wire fitting, make sure it clips. Slide on the plastic collar and turn clockwise until it locks. Reinstall battery and test.
I had to start before getting the response and shortly into the process, realized that the grill and parking light had to come out first. All went well and thanks again for your response and for making this video!!
Thank you for the positive feedback, we really appreciate it! If you have a minute, drop us a review on our Facebook page to let other people know about your experience with us. Here's a link: facebook.com/1AAuto/reviews/
Thank You for the video! My 97 ranger xlt headlights were very dull and the bracket where the bulb twists on on the passenger side broke recently so my bulb kept falling back. Between the foggy lenses and that I couldn't see very well at all at night and I live in the country so that's not good at all. This video saved me time figuring it all out on my own. 🤟🤟
@ucp1773, I just swapped out the headlamps in my '93 Ranger and the answer is "not entirely". I did have to pull the signal lamps out a bit to get the headlamps out, but I didn't have to pull them out all the way. You'll have to remove the bolt that holds in the signal lamp, as shown in this video, then just wiggle the signal lamp off to the side a bit.
Thank you for the video. I am having my '99 Ranger light replaced and lenses cleaned and polished. All the road wear damage from living in Albuquerque has just thrashed the lenses.
This is a great video. Only thing though, is you said for the adjustment clips, to set the new light aiming screws to the same position as the old ones. That's not a bad idea, but every headlight and/or bulb is different, and every time you replace one you should always re-aim it. But starting with a good base point is not bad, because then later on you will have less adjusting to do on the vehicle itself.
I have a 1997 Ford Ranger. I hit a deer recently have had some damage to the passenger side headlight and grill cover etc. Took the truck to a shop to have both headlights replaced etc. Tonight was the first night I got to try the new headlights. I noticed they were aimed to low and needed to be adjusted a little higher. On investigating the headlights I noticed I could easily move them up and down by hand. It appears the repair shop didn't put the bottom mounting piece on the new headlights. I assume they should have removed it from the old headlights and just put it on the little pivot point. Does anyone know the part number for this item? You can see what I am talking about at the 6:05 point in this video. Thanks for any help.
Very helpful and I thank you very much for the information... I might have eventually figured out how to get those clips off the headlamp assy but you really saved the day. Thanks!

Old headlights and parking chrome lights and the whole grille assembly will be replaced the new headlights and chrome lights and whole grille assembly.
Couple of comments: you did not reinstall bulb in right headlight and went right to installing parking/turn signal lights. One question, do you have to remove parking light and grill in order to install just a headlight?
If you don't remove the grill or parking light, it might make it hard to pull the main beam out. Hope this helps you out. Thanks for watching. 1aauto.com
Thanks buddy for this video, I believe you helped me before with a center support bearing too. I'm having an issue though now. I just got into an accident and ran over something that bent back the whole crossmember of which the support bearing is resting on. I have a 95 ford ranger 3.0 club, and my crossmember is bolted on however, at the junk yard all of theirs are riveted?? Im asking if anyone knows where I can find this damn crossmember or what I can do to fix my truck. It drives now but sounds like I don't have an exhaust how it knocks. The rubber is all blown out of support bearing so I know that needs to get replaced I just need to find the crossmember it rests on. Thanks again for everything you do and anything you can do to help.
Hello. I'm really curious if you could show a video on how to remove the front clip. I cracked mine and bought a new one and Im not sure if its a job that ill find to be harder then it should it would help a lot. Thanks Matt

+LIZZY HUNTER Thanks for checking us out! Yes, the grille on this vehicle will be compatible with your 94 Ranger. We only have a black grille at the moment but we are always updating our stock so we may have a chrome grille in the future, be sure to check back with us!
Thanks for the video. It helped me to install my new headlights. Problem is my headlights are shining straight down. I measured the old headlights with the new ones and adjusted the screws before installing. What did I do wrong? How do I raise my headlights? Thanks in advance. I have a 1993 Ford Ranger.
+Seth Sullivan There should be an adjuster on the rear of the main beam to raise and lower the light. This video should also help you out ua-cam.com/video/GWvSWBlAwnI/v-deo.html
Seth Sullivan I put new lights on my 96 ranger and they're pointed down and not reaching out any distance, I removed and used the factory adjusters, the lights of course are after market hopefully it's something I can can fix maybe a slight difference in the plastic molding that has them out of alignment, I'll try raising them and is it possible to move left to right, I think it is from the short adjuster on the side of the bucket, thank you for your input? Kevin

@DARKORGYV Yes, they are the same bulb. there are two different filaments inside of the bulb.
Great vid, my '94 Ranger has a separate top bar and grille (2-piece) and the nut for the park light was 12 mm, not 11. Definitely needed the grille out of the way. Got the lights changed and the truck looks awesome. Thanks!

I just finished installing new headlights and turn signal lights on my 1995 Ford Ranger XL and this video is a big help. Thanks Mike!
Thanks a lot for the upload! I'm super glad to find someone doing work on the same model. Hell, it's even the same color!

@chito59 The basics may be similar, but the procedure to remove them could be different.
Unfortunately we do not have a video for that year but the steps to get the headlight in and out are very similar.

@@1AAuto My 2002 Mazda B4000 seems similar to this Ford, but not to the same year Ford.
I broke the tab am I ok? And I touched the bulb
+ChastBlind Which tab was broken? Touching the bulb can cause the bulb to crack, shatter, or prematurely burn out.
@@1AAuto the tab for the clip that holds the connecter to the bulb. And shoot well it's okay the part was only like 15 bucks

Ford didn't make adjusting the headlights very easy.
