    I don’t have access to hemisqualene here in the UK, so I used olive squalene instead and used the serum as a sort of overnight hair mask, and honestly, it is BRILLIANT. It leaves my hair incredibly soft and shiny and is so easy to comb through. Just thought I’d mention an alternative use! 😊

    I love this!!!⭐ Thank you, Marie!!!🌹 This hair serum makes my hair shiny and soft and bouncy! If I put too much in, (a little really does go a long way), it looks great after I wash it, kind of like a hair mask! If I use the *tiniest* bit around my face, it smoothes the fly-aways. My hair literally looks 10 years younger! This is a simple, cheap way to make beautiful hair!!!

    Made this. Love it. Instant fave.
    (Mods: grapeseed oil, squalane...'tis what I had on hand.)
    I have a lot of hair yet still managed to underestimate this serum. ONE SQUIRT WILL DO, FOLKS.😗👌She ain't kidding. 🤣 **(Especially if, like me, you used squalane instead; it's heavier, better suited to skin, and lacks the dry-touch lightness of hemisqualane.)**
    Anyway.
    Absolutely love the fact that my hair feels+smells divine on a dime. This worked wonders on my wavy hair despite my heavy-handed application.
    Not sure you'll see this, as this is an old video, but I love what you do for the formulator community. I never would have gotten into this had it not been for you. Thanks again, Marie.🐝Take care! 🌹

    I made this 4 days ago! This, and the calendula eye balm, became my first humblebee projects yay!
    However I think something went a little wrong in the process. The BTMS never fully dissolved, the color wasn't opaque as yours. There were flakes that remained even after I heated and held a little longer in low heat. Eventually I ended up with less than 25 g because I had to strain the flakes. It still emulsifies and works great on (still a win!) Do you have any experience similar to this? Perhaps with BTMS-50 I should stir throughout the heat-and-hold? It's my first time using this ingredient and I want to love it. Yesterday I did a quick trial melting some grapeseed oil and BTMS-50 and that resulted in an even, slightly opaque mixture. I'm gonna do a trial again this evening with added cetyl alcohol and see how it goes.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 років тому

      Hmm. What's the ambient temperature like where you live? What elevation do you live at? You can give the mixture a quick blast in the microwave if your water bath isn't getting hot enough :)

    Hi Marie 😁 I’m a huge fan of your work. I made my first lip balm yesterday by following your online free course 😊 It smells lovely. Today I’m making a conditioner using aloe Vera, babussu oil, sweet almond oil, cetyl alcohol, emulsifying NF and Germall preservative. The problem is I’m unsure of how much of the Germall I should use. I’ve done my research and the recommended usage is 1.0% - 5.0. When I watch your videos I see you normally use 5.0%.😐. Also with the emulsifying wax and cetyl alcohol, does the amount of these two ingredients depend on the amount of water use? In other words Can I use 4 cups of water and maybe 10 grams of ewax and cetyl alcohol? Should the water and oil balance out or can I have more water than oil for a looser texture? Do you have any suggestions for me?

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому +2

      Hey! So, you've got some decimal issues.
      The recommend usage rate is 0.1%-0.5%.
      I use 0.5% (HALF a percent) NOT 5%!
      I can't answer your last question well as you can't mix volume and weight measurements like that-you'll need to do everything in percentages. Since if sounds like you're still pretty new to DIYing I'd recommend following a tried-and-tested conditioner recipe before striking off on your own. Something like this (www.humblebeeandme.com/olive-and-jojoba-silk-conditioner/) would be a good place to start; it already has the aloe and you could use babassu for the jojoba and sweet almond for the olive. You will want to get BTMS-50 as that's what makes this a hair conditioner and not a hair lotion :)

    • @asiagreen4338
      @asiagreen4338 6 років тому

      yes I actually meant to type 0.1% - 0.5% doing many things at once lol and thanks so much for the recommendation. I will keep you posted on the results. Thank you

    Hi there,
    I have to say I absolutely enjoy your videos! For this particular formula, can I make it water based formular as well instead of all oil based ingredients? Since btms 50 and cetyl alcohol can be the emulsifiers? Thank you again for sharing your knowledges!

    Hello!! Quick question, would you be able to use the hemisqualane as a substitute for water in lotions? Ive become addicted to your videos lol and am trying to find a more natural way to preserve my products and im wondering if this could replace waters in lotions

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 років тому +2

      No; that would be like substituting olive oil for broth in a soup recipe. Using a fat instead of water is a fundamental change to a recipe. You’re correct that it would remove the need for a preservative, but it will yield a fundamentally different product that would not be a lotion.
