Prototype 2 is one of my favorite games of all time, I abandoned prototype 1 when I was younger because of a difficulty spike and also prototype 2 was coming out and I played the second to death, I never got tired of it and even when I play it today I still have so much fun, prototype 2 will forever be a comfort game for me that I can always go back to
Dude, I had the same scenario. I got turned off after I got that parasite that takes your powers. Abandoned it for like 3 years went back and beat it just before 2 came out then played the fuck out of it.
"Where is prototype 3" is something I have asked myself for years. Activision needs to hand over the license to a dedicated team who will revive the series. Activision is too money orientated and all we are going to get from them is more cod.😂
I always thought prototype 2 was better than the first, and its the one i find myself revisiting more often. Granted, it is lacking on powers, but it looks and plays better than the first, and it doesn’t have ridiculous difficulty spikes which immerses me more in the power fantasy. Plus i prefer the goofier tone, because it does a horrible job of taking itself seriously, while also not taking itself seriously, which definitely doesn’t work, but ive always found it charming and endearing.
I've always enjoyed the final max speed in Prototype 2 that you can reach within a moment thanks to the cheetah mutation, but i understand exactly what ya mean. it felt like Heller was an unstoppable tank, sprinting like a linebacker straight through everything whereas Mercer felt much more akin to an agile, free-flowing predator, zooming and gliding past everything
I love Prototype 2, you can just go around and watch huge battles between humans and infected, full of chaos and destruction. I also liked Heller as character, some of the moments like clicking the wrong button on computer were pretty funny. I also love how that dude insults everything that tries to kill him.
Prototype 2 was a game where choice would have made the game wayyy better. Being able to actually work with and join Mercer would have been awesome. Reading the comic made me want to join him even more.
Prototype 1 was amazing and then came Prototype 2, a huge step up in graphics and the gameplay was also the most fun I had in a game with a story. Never was I just mindlessly running around throwing cars into crowds or trying to to throw someone into a wall over and over. This is sandbox at it's finest. Both games are great but part 2 look so much better.
I loved Prototype 2, especially once you're maxed, you're a literal god of destruction. I remember running around with the I think whitelight barrels, haven't played in years. I'd say that the second one was a actual improvement. I also loved doing stealth consume. I tried my best to stealth consume everybody in the missions and so forth. I thought it was very fun
Honestly my only gripe with this game was the change in charge jump. It feels so much more stiff and unnatural to have to hold the jump button to go higher rather than just charging it. That little pulse of energy Alex would get when he was charged and that BOOM as you jumped was so cool. In P2 its just like, a little dainty hop and then your magically floating and I hate it. P.S This channel is gonna take off I just know it, awesome content man keep it up
Yeah the charge jump was a little awkward feeling, the movement in general I just preferred more in the original. Thank you though mate, glad you're enjoying the videos!
They did this weird thing where your moves and powers are mostly traversal and can be strung mid air. Using pounce grab hammer throw and your kick you can really fly. Maybe that was the trade off?
I don't see the flaws in this game at all. The combat is so fluid, the variety of movement I haven't found in any similar games except Spider-Man and InFamous Second Son/First Light. The ability to have the speed of sonic, the power of kratos and the better moveability than any of the mirror's edge or assassin's creed games while giving a decently interesting story with funny/sometimes good voice acting. I'd say they removed the parkour because it felt slow, this feels like an open world action rpg and there's not many out there like it. The missions might get a bit repetitive, but the fact you are constantly unlocking new skills both offensive and defensive don't make it a chore at all. The ragdoll physics of throwing people and objects around are so fun, just curve balling a person into a helicopter or sprinting and jumping on a guy only to ride him like a snowboard face into the ground are SO rewarding. The lair missions are a combination of Spider-Man and Just Cause, but they aren't too big to get tedious. Nothing is too much to get tedious. The game has the perfect amount of side missions and collectables. I've played games with almost 500 collectables and I think anything over 100 is ridiculous, plus there is an interesting way to find them. Visually the game still holds up incredibly well too other than character models, and character animations are incredibly quick and smooth, there feels like no input lag at all. I played the first game and other than the story, I thought it was a pretty boring game. I LOVE this game!
Prototype 2 is one of the my favorite games of all time, something about it just feels so rewarding to play, the combat is very enjoyable and I know people complain Heller is to godlike but that is what makes it so fun, once you're fully upgraded you can just decimate everything and somehow it doesn't get old. The only thing I miss about the first game was the way the city descended into chaos bit by bit, P2 and it's zones were ok but I loved how the city just got infected over time and chaos erupted onto the streets. They simply don't make games like this anymore which is a shame.
Prototype 2 was an overall improvement gameplay-wise, but I honestly prefer the original, despite its difficulty spikes towards the latter half and less fluid combat, mainly because Alex felt so much more interesting as a protagonist. He was NOT a good guy by any stretch of the imagination, he was a chaotic netral who just wanted to find out the truth about his past, Blackwatch and end the outbreak. And the fact that the game leaves you on the question of how human Alex is was *fascinating* since, like the player, Alex had no particular investment in anyone except Dana and Ragland, who are the only people in the entire game who didn't try to kill him or betray him. Neither the player nor Alex ,storywise, bats an eye at killing a civilian to heal or to go into Critical Mass and it fit with the point that the game was making about *power* and what it does to people. And when you consider this, Heller is just a plain weaker protagonist. Sure the more comedic scenes with him were really fun and having a main character who actively shittalks was cool, but with him having an actual moral compass, it creates a disconnect between his action storywise and in-game. He can murder countless civilians with no problem, but he overhears the Blackwatch agent talking to his daughter on the phone and now he feels guilty? Because he relates to him? What about the people he kills throughout the game that had families of their own? See the disconnect here? Plus, it didn't help that Alex became a villain offscreen. Yeah the comics explore his struggle with the imlication of his existence and his eventual fall to his own nihilism, but even with that I feel like they took Alex's character in the most boring direction they possibly could and that just rubbed a lot of fans, myself included, the wrong way.
I'm glad someone finally mentioned this. One thing I found interesting about Heller was that he actually felt like a completely different character in gameplay; slower than Mercer, but a lot more tanky/defensive with a focus on blocking instead of dodging. He would've been more likeable as a character if the game punished the player for killing civilians and marines, or at the very least acknowledge it in the story. It would've shown that he's still human with a moral compass.
@@Kiro_Khajiit Heller even says at some point mid game that he is no hero and basically gives no fucks, obviously the part where he spares Rooks or whomever because of his daughter is only because he relates in that moment due to his own daughter. I don't think the disconnect is that large, Heller knows he is a monster but he just wants to save his daughter and fuck everything else (well besides Dana)
It may be a hot take here, but i prefer Heller over Mercer, and if they made a 3rd game, I wouldn't mind if he was the protagonist again. I always found Mercer's edgy, emo character to be a bit too corny for me. Sure, you can say that is the point of his character (in which you're probably right), but i felt that Heller is just a more relatable character. He is a family man, a guy with nothing else but his daughter left in a dark, grim world. I can't understand where the hate towards his character comes from, but this is just my opinion, so don't take it to heart.
My biggest gripe from the change of the first game to the second is how the upgrade mechanics changes it from being a sandbox in the first game, to a arcade type game in the second. I love that in the second game upgrades changed the appearance of the different abilities, but by changing away from a currency to purchase upgrades system to a do mini games and kill specific enemies caused me to want to explore and just fuck around in the game a lot less. I was always going to areas looking for specific things instead of just going in and causing chaos
@@Username-wj8pz must be the type of person who likes playing on easy mode and having the game give u all upgrades for free huh? Even a game like Minecraft was given an objective due to complaints of nothing to do in the world plus Mercers just a boring protagonist who had nothing going on for him but only THOUGHT he did lol
How I like to think of prototype 1 & 2. Is the same as Watchdogs 1 & 2. While 2 has better features, visuals and gameplay mechanics, 1 has a much stronger story and is much more gritty
I'm finally getting around to watching this and what a great video it is man. Alex was always a very distanced protagonist who saw himself as the hero when in reality he wasn't even Alex Mercer anymore he is literally the virus and the virus is slowly taking over his mind but he thinks he's still himself because he retain his memories. I've seeing him as the villain even though he could have been so much more in this game. I would love to see 3rd game with new mechanics, graphics etc.
Great video, might be because i 100% agree with most of your points haha. I know the first one had more abilities but it could just be so frustrating and didn't feel like a polished product like 2 does. I also really love that you liked Heller, i thought he was great, he was a badass, had some great lol lines and iirc the stuff with his daughter was actually surprisingly moving, i think his visual design is good as well for some reason. Also something you don't really address but this game has fantastic graphics, they hold up damn well in my opinion especially revisiting on PC with Max graphics, 1 REALLY looks it's age, i remember it looking pretty bad for the time.
Yeah I don't really touch on graphics in my retrospectives because usually I'm not expecting them to hold up today but you're right, Prototype 2 did look gorgeous still today. Glad you enjoyed the video mate and I'm relieved to hear I'm not alone in my opinions on this game 😂
The correct question is, "Does anyone WANT Prototype 3?" I mean the feelings toward this series is so mixed that I don't know if there's enough fan demand for it in the first place.
I loved this franchise. I really liked the 2nd even if most didn't. I would even like to see Heller return, I share the same opinions as you did. He was more likeable to be around for me. And the gameplay all around is just... FUN. A 3rd installment plz...
Just bought both games off ps store for less than 10 quid, having missed out 1st time around Im impressed with prototype, the military are an actual threat and smart, and the whole thing has the feel of some eighties ace horror/action flick, like the fly 2. Yeah some mission design is frustrating but you just have to risa above it lol.
Prototype 2 clearly improved upon the original but also came with it's own issues, the biggest one is difficulty - even at max difficulty you will eventually reach god-like status and the game gets boring since there's no challenge.
That was one of Prototype's biggest issues as well though. I'd rather god like status in a game where you have these insane super powers than the alternative of using vehicles to survive.
@@MayorHairBear It's true that in prototype 1, Alex was made of paper in higher difficulties but the powerbalance in 2 is on the opposite side of broken. I got to a point that I was avoiding getting perks because no enemy was a challenge whatsoever, immunity to bullets, healing while the shield is active and the shield makes you invincible, it's insane.
@@Contragonista I prefer P2's easier difficulty, it makes far more sense when you consider the powers, yeah some of the perks are overpowered and I did the same as you by not using them to make it slightly more challenging but it never once bothered me, we should be godlike, Mercer was getting chewed up constantly and even a single helicopter could bring about his demise which made no sense.
I'm excited to sink my teeth into this video. I never actually got around to playing this one and know almost nothing about it so this couldn't be better placed for me!
People complain about the “Annoyingly Resilient DNA” bit, and admittedly, it could’ve been explained better, but honestly, this makes more sense than people think for one reason. Remember Alex’s line from the first game: “All the people I’ve consumed… they’re in me. They ARE me.” Now, a lot of people always say the original Mercer died, but this line kind of changed things. Mercer was the first person Blacklight consumed. This means that Blacklight IS Alex. So Alex’s DNA does make up some of the Alex you play as. It would also explain why, unlike Mercer, people like Heller, Koenig, and Sabrina Galloway didn’t lose their memories and become completely different people when infected with the same strain and basically becoming the same thing. They weren’t dead or dying, so their brains hadn’t deteriorated at all. Unlike Alex, the evolved were basically the same thing as Mercer without the amnesia drawback. And since their DNA is still gonna be a part of them, it also explains why Heller’s DNA, as poorly explained as it is, is still some sort of factor. And with the added Blacklight in his system, it’s also why he is now resistant or completely immune to consumption. If he was still human, that’d be one thing, but now he has the Blacklight Virus within him bonding to his DNA, rather than being connected to Mercer. Think of it this way: Heller can now do everything Mercer can, and but his own unique DNA bonded with Blacklight when he was infected by Mercer, and enhanced with it. And it makes some sense. At least one other Evolved had a unique ability that Mercer, to my knowledge, did not: Sabrina Galloway, who could track all Evolved except two: Heller and Roland. So, as poorly explained as it was, Heller’s resistant DNA isn’t exactly something that should be a non-factor. Just my opinion and personal explanation on that topic, but I felt like I should at least say something about it.
I’m pretty sure he lost his memory because the infection took over his corpse Also people often think Alex would win because he’s the OG virus COMPLETELY neglecting the fact that things like the black plague or coronavirus are EVOLVED diseases which were trained by things like climates certain creatures with different blood types and just straight up tampering and it annoys me to no end when Alex shills scream the fight was rigged when it was the ONLY logical outcome
One gripe, the “Mercer” we play as is explicitly stated to be the virus and refers to Alex and itself as different beings the virus just took his memories and believed them to be its own not unlike how Alex consumes WOI targets
I feel both games have different things to offer. I love to play both and greatly enjoy both. Honestly after free roaming in both games it’s kinda hard to play other open world games because of how fun and awesome the parkour and running and jumping is.
Man i completely agree. In the original the claws were completely useless but oh lord the blade was completely broken beyond belief to the point where i was spamming axe drop on the hunters for those sweet instakills
On ps5 and revisited prototype 2. Man I love how quirky this game is and it’s definitely better than I remember. I just wish that story was a bit more fleshed out. But man gameplay was fun.
Came around your channel a few weeks ago for the first time. Quality videos from what I've seen so far! Many thanks for the Prototype retrospectives. I remember enjoying these games, despite not remember that much all the same. Now I'd like a new installment for Prototype! I'll subscribe now. Again thanks for these videos and all the work you've put into it.
I just hate that they downgraded the movement system from the first like how fast you can run on buildings and how high you can jump. I like the running speed in 2 but when you run up a building it's so slow it ruins the momentum.
Mercer may seem Heller worthiness because at the first cutscene he tackled Mercer for a little while and Heller kept hitting Mercer so maybe it's because of that.
Also can we all agree u do run faster in prototype 2? When u get god speed and cheetah u literally reach max speed in a few seconds and it’s so badass. Mercer starts off faster but I think hellers max speed is a bit faster
i think one of the many reasons people liked to play as mercer is because we ALL know how we play in prototype: we kill, we infected, we consume and we do these to EVERYONE without ANY mercy it dosent make much sense for a millitary seargent to act like a pscycho, but mercer? its very possible he's doing it for shits and giggles story wise; the games sort of make sense though first game is mercers story mercer is fresh out of the grave. only just born from the remains of his human self's selfish actions - we are learning alongside him about himself and the world around him second game is heller's story; a random guy, one of the many we could have killed in the first game, except if they had the powers we had, and their reasons for fighting third could have, should be, pariah's story; learning about the end game perhaps? maybe following the story of a boy who is torn between two people who seem to hate him equally; his biological mother died in the first game, and heller would be the cannonical last evolved, possibly, that he could meet who would pariah want to stand with? the humans who treated him like a freak and a test subject? or the only other infected individual who wants him dead? both sides from his perspecive now seem to hate him, yet the first game made him out to be some kind of god-tier entity in regards to blacklight infected people
2 is so bland, combat wise. The combat comes down to hit the dodge prompt and tendril up enemies when necessary. Or ya know, hit shield and be immune. The devastators have zero risk and are limited in options. The military is a non-issue when you have free finishers, bullet proof. Level up system is inferior. Also, I gltiched the final boss on my low level intense run. I had to level up to a certain level for Mercer to take damage on his final phase. I did many computer restarts and had the same issue. And the story? Oh brother.
It is really easy you're right. Not an issue for me personally but I understand why people want more challenge. If Prototype had more of an Arkham combat system I would agree
I'm replaying 2 now and man I remember it was fun but I never got into the upgrades there's a whole shit load of things to do lmao I'm having Hella fun
Yes this game is repetitious but it's so awesomely entertaining that it's a non-factor. I cannot get the original prototype to play on my laptop but I'll keep trying. I thoroughly enjoy escaping into a world where I can embrace my inner megalomaniac.
While it wasn't the greatest sequel, I did enjoy my time with this game and it was the first game I got full 100% completion on so I do have a soft spot for this one
I honestly prefer 2 to the original prototype, true taking away certain abilities wasn't a great choice, but utilizing the ones you do have instead of resorting to just one power was a good silver lining. I found myself using all the powers equally which makes the game much more fun. The story is just well.... there. Not bad not good just there. I will say the government conspiracy in the first was a lot more interesting. Overall prototype 2 is just good old fun.
1:07 One of the Main things that i didn't like about Prototype 2, most other things were good. Was the fact Alex Mercer, the Protagonist of the 1st game, seemingly out of nowhere, became the Villain. Turns out, they made an Comic about the reason why prototype 2s events occurred, but never promoted it. Heck, i only knew after luckily finding and watching some Comic UA-camr covering it. 😂 8:34 I like Mercer more for the Opposite and Different reasons.
I guess some changes make sense because Heller is a different person after all and was human unlike Alex who was all virus no human, just memories of Mercer. The heavy movements and new abilities (and other removed abilities) maybe because of his military background. It's also reflected on his blade with the saw-like serrations, which look like the ones on military knives. The one where you call hunters comes from him being a soldier commanding them I guess. And the less parkour-like movements too. Your video actually made me play this game again and I had a lot of fun with it. Story wise yeah it's bad ngl. In the first game Alex was saving everyone and now he's trying to destroy (?) them idk. But again the way the story is told makes sense. Heller is human and Alex isn't. It's now in a more dialogue type of story telling than the memories story telling like in the first game (which I kinda liked).
Honestly, despite some of the improvements in P2, it's so boring to get through because of how easy it is. You can get an upgrade that turn off bullet damages, your shield is pretty much indestructible, the enemies barely chase you and can easily be avoided by just jumping away or just run around a corner, tanks and helicopters are pathetic because of the finisher and the air grab make getting it even easier. In P1 you're still a god but the enemies still pack a huge punch, in this however there's barely anything that can pose a threat.
@@billyboleson2830 there's some jank in the first game but that's not 100% true. The shield not making you invincible, no bullet proof skin and Strike Teams actually chasing Alex gives a more balanced difficulty to the first game than anything in the second.
Your pacing is great mate. I can watch your videos at 1.5x (my ADHD brain) and I can still understand everything you say. Great pacing and inunciation!
I love both games. For me P2 has more positives than negatives over the P. I enjoy both but if I have to decide which one I enjoy more I would def. say P2. The only sad part is we will never get P3 :-(
The "protagonist" swap from Prototype 1 to 2 wasn't just abrupt or the cause of a genuine schism in the fanbase, it was lazy, ill-considered and stupid. The clever move, if you wanted to make Mercer villainous, would be to force the player into heinous, self-serving situations. To construct the plot of the sequel such that Mercer has no alternatives, either in service to his vaunted unity plan or mere survival, than to slaughter everything in his path. Let the player be the villain. As for Heller... personally, I loathed his character for much the same reasons you enjoyed him: he is brash, crude, sophomoric and the "perpetually angry black man" trope has never appealed to me, as far back as Barret from Final Fantasy 7. Besides, the whole Mercer versus Heller fight was beyond the pale of mere idiocy. Mercer won handily and, being the virus incarnate, not only should have been able to devour him regardless of some gobbledygook "resistant DNA" but capable of eradicating him in a number of other fashions. It was Batman vs Superman all over again, with the same inherent flaws.
he was a war hero who lost his family g lol he's not going to be moving around in a good mood.. plus everything your saying about him is Kratos lol but yall looooove Kratos
@Raziel2696 maybe the reason people love Kratos is because they got moments of his past in cutscenes and the sole reason as to why he was so angry about his loss and wasn’t so irritating to the point they wanted to rip their own ears off. Heller on the other hand, while having some humor to him, unfortunately didn’t appeal to them in the slightest bit and his opposition towards Mercer didn’t make sense since his family was still alive during the first outbreak.
I can understand people saying prototype 2 ran and looked better but the first is just a much better game imo. Play it today on pc with the hd fix and patch. It runs amazing and looks even better and its the best way to play prototype in 2024
I like mercer in the first game, even if he's character isn't the best executed of them all but i also liked that Mercer is the villain in the second and the reasoning of him being that way in prototype 2 is explained in the prototype 2 comics and you kinda understand why he thinks the way he thinks.
"Where the heck is Prototype 3?" I'll tell you where it's not. In Activision's plans. It's insane to me, how tf can you make such a good game, both visually and mechanically, and all of a sudden decide "Hmm..Not as much money as CoD? Don't bother showing up for work Radical." It's insane to me how much money Activison has, to pump out CoDs and remaster old classics like the Crash Bandicoot and CTR Nitro Fueled, but even in 2024 they don't have enough money to hire a team who will work on Prototype 3? Are you kidding me? This story is so interesting and so cool. They're only wasting potential. Not only that, but imagine Prototype 3 with nowadays' graphics, the old school mechanics and another sequel to the story. I swear to god, if the old school games don't bring a large amount of people to them, mostly because of nostalgia and curiosity what's new in the franchaise, then idk. But wasting a potential of such a great story, is like burning your money directly into the fire pit. Not that CoD isn't doing that for them either way nowadays. We want change. We want new games. Not CoD. Enough of that American games market. Just because 99% of America plays CoD, doesn't mean you can't and shouldn't make any other games. But oh well. I guess sticking to the quote "Don't fix what's not broken and still gives you money" is just Activision's policy nowadays.
I wouldn't say it was bad at all, i actually enjoyed the sequel but i would say it ditched a number of things that made Prototype 1 the incredible game it was. For 1, mobility was greatly decreased, unlike in the first game where you were basically an incredibly agile character, Heller seems so heavy compared to Mercer and thats a bummer because in the first game you felt like you were the most lethal organism in Manhattan and that the super speed is meant to compensate your brutal combat. Another thing is that Mercer does not like act like the way he was in the original game, like when you play the original game and then play P2, it feels like such a unnecessary day and night difference, which makes me beg the question why i even rooted for him in the first place. I mean yeah Mercer technically isnt really Mercer, its the virus that physically embodied him but still it feels out of place that he suddenly goes full blown villain whereas in the original game he was a very morally grey character
Honestly, I’d rather play Prototype 2 than 1. Yeah 1 has some better stuff but it also has disgusting difficulty spikes and level design that’s downright horrid. At least I can still have the same amount of fun in 2.
My thoughts have always been that when Alex consumed Elizabeth Green in Prototype 1 her consciousness was able to hide in Alex's mind, and slowly infect his thinking with hers, the final catalyst being when someone he called a friend shot him the head for money thinking he was just a normal human. The support for this is when Alex called Hellers daughter "the Mother of the new world", when Alex first met Green she said "I am your Mother".
Yea the story of Prototype two was... a little disappointing. The cinematics of the game also make me cringe 😬. Granted I still liked the game but prototype 1 definitely has the superior story

That's a great point, I didn't feel the urge to just fuck around as much here because I was usually off actually working towards some sort of goal.
Okay so you prefer mindless button mashing in free roam with nothing to actually explore over actual goals and incentives to explore
@@zzodysseuszz yes, because that's what Prototype is all about
In the second one, I played that one first on the 360, I loved messing around
@@Username-wj8pz must be the type of person who likes playing on easy mode and having the game give u all upgrades for free huh?
Even a game like Minecraft was given an objective due to complaints of nothing to do in the world plus Mercers just a boring protagonist who had nothing going on for him but only THOUGHT he did lol
You can think of the changes in Parkour and powers as James Heller is not Alex Mercer
I love game analyzing videos and this was perfect. now i have a whole new channel to watch while being high
Welcome to the channel mate, I hope you enjoy the videos!
How I like to think of prototype 1 & 2. Is the same as Watchdogs 1 & 2.
While 2 has better features, visuals and gameplay mechanics, 1 has a much stronger story and is much more gritty
7:54 had me rolling over lol
I actually like Prototype 2 more than the first one.
Same here 🙌

The correct question is, "Does anyone WANT Prototype 3?" I mean the feelings toward this series is so mixed that I don't know if there's enough fan demand for it in the first place.
I loved this franchise. I really liked the 2nd even if most didn't. I would even like to see Heller return, I share the same opinions as you did. He was more likeable to be around for me. And the gameplay all around is just... FUN. A 3rd installment plz...
web of intrigue in prototype 1 was a masterpiece
I remember playing this a long time ago, and I remember the gameplay being smoother, but the story irritated me lol
The story isn't great, but the gameplay is very smooth. Feels fluent
This game series has a special place in my heart
I just want a 3 for this franchise with us playing as paraya tye perfect prototype
We need Prototype 3!
Hell yeah mate, well enjoy the video and let me know what you think!
@@MayorHairBear boutta watch, so hyped I love this game.
People complain about the “Annoyingly Resilient DNA” bit, and admittedly, it could’ve been explained better, but honestly, this makes more sense than people think for one reason.
Remember Alex’s line from the first game: “All the people I’ve consumed… they’re in me. They ARE me.”
Now, a lot of people always say the original Mercer died, but this line kind of changed things.
I’m pretty sure he lost his memory because the infection took over his corpse
Also people often think Alex would win because he’s the OG virus COMPLETELY neglecting the fact that things like the black plague or coronavirus are EVOLVED diseases which were trained by things like climates certain creatures with different blood types and just straight up tampering and it annoys me to no end when Alex shills scream the fight was rigged when it was the ONLY logical outcome
Prototype 2 one of my favourite games I think it’s better than 1 and I really hope they bring a prototype 3 out
I'd love to see them make Prototype 3 some day!
I love how when your about 60% into the game your basically immortal. It's so hard to die in this game lol.
Oh after a certain point you have to go out of your way to die in Prototype 2 and you know what, I'm here for it 😂

Welcome to the channel mate, happy to have you here and glad you're enjoying the videos!
Yes! Finally. First notes of the Music and my hype is real. Can't wait for colder weather to play it again!
It's a great wet weather game, such a mood!
Another solid video mate, can't say much else since I haven't played the game but going around and causing chaos looks pretty fun!
Thank you mate, appreciate the support as always!
Also can we all agree u do run faster in prototype 2? When u get god speed and cheetah u literally reach max speed in a few seconds and it’s so badass. Mercer starts off faster but I think hellers max speed is a bit faster
Bro 100% yes. You just stay winning with these prototype takes man
Thank you mate, glad you enjoyed the video!
I had fun with both but I think Prototype 1 just felt better to play and come back to. Way more versatility
I think if I was coming back to one to muck around in the open world I'd pick the first game, but campaign wise 2 is just so much more enjoyable
@@MayorHairBear a
I love prototype 2 man, one of my favorite games and i replayed that game like manymany times
i think one of the many reasons people liked to play as mercer is because we ALL know how we play in prototype: we kill, we infected, we consume and we do these to EVERYONE without ANY mercy
it dosent make much sense for a millitary seargent to act like a pscycho, but mercer? its very possible he's doing it for shits and giggles
story wise; the games sort of make sense though
first game is mercers story mercer is fresh out of the grave. only just born from the remains of his human self's selfish actions - we are learning alongside him about himself and the world around him
second game is heller's story; a random guy, one of the many we could have killed in the first game, except if they had the powers we had, and their reasons for fighting
third could have, should be, pariah's story; learning about the end game perhaps? maybe following the story of a boy who is torn between two people who seem to hate him equally; his biological mother died in the first game, and heller would be the cannonical last evolved, possibly, that he could meet
who would pariah want to stand with? the humans who treated him like a freak and a test subject? or the only other infected individual who wants him dead? both sides from his perspecive now seem to hate him, yet the first game made him out to be some kind of god-tier entity in regards to blacklight infected people
2 is so bland, combat wise.
Oh brother.
I feel like Prototype 2 was too easy. Even on hard. I would've liked a fair balance between the two difficulties would've been great.
It is really easy you're right. Not an issue for me personally but I understand why people want more challenge. If Prototype had more of an Arkham combat system I would agree
It wasn't a perfect game but honestly felt like it was over hated and the soundtrack is mad underrated
I'm replaying 2 now and man I remember it was fun but I never got into the upgrades there's a whole shit load of things to do lmao I'm having Hella fun
It's seriously a great time, love replaying this one!
This man hasn't truly played the game, he didn't play the whole game as one of the zombie characters.
Everything you said in this video I 100% agree, I thoroughly enjoyed prototype 2 more than the first one.

This series needs to come back
Yes this game is repetitious but it's so awesomely entertaining that it's a non-factor. I cannot get the original prototype to play on my laptop but I'll keep trying. I thoroughly enjoy escaping into a world where I can embrace my inner megalomaniac.
I think prototype 2 is a good sequel both gameplay and graphics wise but the story is a major downgrade
I hated how slippery the controls were in Prototype 1
These types of games don't sell anymore. And if they do, they will be called Spiderman clones
While it wasn't the greatest sequel, I did enjoy my time with this game and it was the first game I got full 100% completion on so I do have a soft spot for this one
Yeah we need Prototype 3 tlto complete the story cause the 2nd Prototype ending is literally a cliffhanger
If you took the abilities and movement of prototype 1 and the mission design from the 2nd game would make for an almost perfect Prototype.
That Opening Song still is an absolute Slap!!!
8:34 I like Mercer more for the Opposite and Different reasons.
It's now in a more dialogue type of story telling than the memories story telling like in the first game (which I kinda liked).
this game was my childhood. i LOVE this game.
prototype 2 have better gameplay then prototype 1, but the story was short
Honestly, despite some of the improvements in P2, it's so boring to get through because of how easy it is. You can get an upgrade that turn off bullet damages, your shield is pretty much indestructible, the enemies barely chase you and can easily be avoided by just jumping away or just run around a corner, tanks and helicopters are pathetic because of the finisher and the air grab make getting it even easier. In P1 you're still a god but the enemies still pack a huge punch, in this however there's barely anything that can pose a threat.
Lmao half the difficulty from p1 came less from genuine challenge and more from the jank
@@billyboleson2830 there's some jank in the first game but that's not 100% true. The shield not making you invincible, no bullet proof skin and Strike Teams actually chasing Alex gives a more balanced difficulty to the first game than anything in the second.
I love both games. I replay them every year
Done you mean as bad ass?
Oh boy oh boy oh boy! I’m happy now. Thanks 🙏🫡
You're very welcome my friend!
A new prototype game with today's graphics would be insanely gory
Your pacing is great mate. I can watch your videos at 1.5x (my ADHD brain) and I can still understand everything you say. Great pacing and inunciation!
I love both games. For me P2 has more positives than negatives over the P. I enjoy both but if I have to decide which one I enjoy more I would def. say P2. The only sad part is we will never get P3 :-(
I just finished playing it like 2 days ago
I played porotype 1 and 2 an all the difficulty levels over the years a very big fan i prefer 2
I like 2 a little bit more
The "protagonist" swap from Prototype 1 to 2 wasn't just abrupt or the cause of a genuine schism in the fanbase, it was lazy, ill-considered and stupid.
3:34 local pasta
I can understand people saying prototype 2 ran and looked better but the first is just a much better game imo. Play it today on pc with the hd fix and patch. It runs amazing and looks even better and its the best way to play prototype in 2024
Prototype 2 GOAT
The soundtrack of this game is underrated.
I remember this game way more than those people wanting GTA 6
Not my cup of tea but gotta support the bear 🙏
Appreciate you dropping by good sir, thank you! 🙌

Prototype best ever I played
That's exactly how I feel
My thoughts have always been that when Alex consumed Elizabeth Green in Prototype 1 her consciousness was able to hide in Alex's mind, and slowly infect his thinking with hers, the final catalyst being when someone he called a friend shot him the head for money thinking he was just a normal human. The support for this is when Alex called Hellers daughter "the Mother of the new world", when Alex first met Green she said "I am your Mother".
same here
Same excuse for heller beating Mercer
