Totally reverse with me. A teacher from my oldest's school seen me sitting in at Olive garden sipping a drink with my(now Ex) husband during our anniversary meal. Both kids were with my Parents at Chuck E cheese at a younger cousin's birthday party. That Monday, She gave my kid a note to explain what is appropriate as a parent. I took the note to the school the next morning. Turned out she had done that to other parents and was shortly fired afterwards.

The creepiest part of Ezra Fitz and Aria wasn’t even that they got married or they made out, it was that it turned out he knew exactly who she was and how old she was before he ever met her. So he was like a true creeper. I had a teacher from 7-12 grade, my band director (save the band geek jokes I was on drum line, didn’t count lol) that was like a dad to me. I had a really hard time with serious stuff at home, and he was the one who helped me find my talent and even got me ready for a conservatory audition for college.

    THANK YOU MRS. ROGERS!!!
Omg...I thought the three kids who got sent home from my D.C. trip in 8th grade was a scandal....but your NY trip puts that to shame. We're in San Diego, and in April there was always a trip to D.C. & Pennsylvania/New York (they alternated every other year) and we did fundraising for it throughout the year. Breakfast and dinner were included but lunch and snacks were on us to buy. We actually ate at some kind of off-base military cafeteria the day we went to the Pentagon, which was super cool. One night we stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel and got breakfast and dinner there. There were at least 20-25 of us, but we also had 4 teachers + a BUNCH of parents for chaperoning. The kids that tried to pull shenanigans were caught in the middle of them and sent home immediately (the next morning for one, because he tried to climb out the window to sneak into a girl's room at like 11pm). When done right, with the correct support, cross-country trips can be great. I'm so glad ours didn't end up like yours. Thanks for finally telling it!!

Rebecca Rogers does look like Miss Appleberry from Cocomelon. She's very sweet and patient with great creative ideas.
And Bri really needs to read some Roald Dahl. He also wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach. Amazing author. Specializes in dark stories about traumatized children that have something magical happen to create a happily ever after.

We’ll all go out to the one nice restaurant in town and they’ll drink with us. The last day before winter break was a half day and we all went to lunch, two newer teachers, our principal, his wife (who is a para at the school), and I were the last ones there. Just having a few drinks and talking about how things have been going so far and moving forward.

We had a band/choir teacher like him in high school. If only the world was set up to create more Feenys and Jeans (our music teacher). Instead the vocal minority is too loud about whether gay students can confide in their teachers or whether black students are properly represented in the classroom, and because of that, I think the Feeneys of the world will be quickly snuffed out or burnt out. I fear that the next generation will not have many people to look up to, but I hope I'm wrong.

This is for Tell specifically, but everybody can answer as I know we’ve all had moments like this as teachers. But, Tell, as a pre-k teacher, how do you manage to stay calm all the time when dealing with the many antics of 4-5 year olds? Have you raised your voice at a student because of inappropriate behaviors they constantly repeat, or for inappropriate things they’ve continued to say multiple times?
On another note, for all of you, when you need help with a child, is your admin good with helping you, or do you find it a struggle to get admin to help you? Do you feel like they haven’t been in your classroom, or any classroom long enough to even know/understand what you go through on daily basis?

    • @BeeCreates929
      @BeeCreates929 2 роки тому +2

IDK about Tell specifically, but I'm a pre-k teacher, and one of the things we are trained to do (we use Conscious Discipline models at the school I teach at) is the STAR method. When a kid is getting on your nerves, you Stop, Take a breath, And Relax. Some of the training modules I have looked at, the woman was like 'this textbook says to tell yourself that you believe the best in this child, but that doesn't always work, so you can do waht I do, which is say to myself "I love chips and salsa.'" So to make a long story short, basically MY technique for not screaming at a 5-year-old or a 6-month-old (I teach infant/toddler, primarily) is taking a minute and not saying anything till the end of the day. It helps my best friend is also a Pre-k teacher and she is always available for a good drink and a good vent.

My school, any trip was an overnight trip, especially if we had to take the ferry. Ferry or plane were our only travel options. We students would all end up getting really close with the other schools as a result, especially since we would always house them when they came to us and they would house us when we went to them.
My favorite time of seeing someone get sent home though is what I always think of when people say "boys will be boys" because it was basically that. This one 15 year old from one of the other schools, his dad had given him a tazer to take with to protect himself. Well, said boy and his friend got sent home because they were caught outside taking turns tazing each other. From what I heard afterward, they were having a blast too 😂

My french teacher probably been watching too much stereotypical teacher movies because last week she didn't show up and didn't even tell the office. She just left something on google classroom for us to do but I have to idea how she decided that a group of 7th graders could be responsible enough to be left without a teacher.

"there would never ever be a classroom full of kids without an adult for a long period of time" for the last few weeks of school me and the rest of my class was left without a teacher for the whole school day. Granted we're all seniors so they probably trust us enough to not cause trouble, but still. Other staff members would come in and be like "it must be nice to not have a teacher" and then walk away. We were left alone for an hour and a half, every other day, for like two weeks.

They literally could have referenced Charlie and the Chocolate Factory when talking about Roald Dahl and I think they would have known who the author of Matilda was 😂

I took kids on a field trip years ago. I found one parent who owned an SUV and I went to the car rental and rented an SUV for myself and drove half the kids to a conference. There's no way that would be allowed now.

Okay but do y’all remember the Children’s book where little girl lived on the edge of a forest and would always pick flowers parents warned her not to go too deep or the monster would get her and she got distracted by the beautiful flowers and the monster tries to get her but she makes it in time back home it was kindof a rhyming book to like what the monster said rhymed

And I'm just a liiiittle offended that y'all didn't know Matilda was a book, since it's my favorite to this day and I read it a million times in elementary lol

There were several time in high school when they had trouble finding a sub so we as a class took attendance, brought it to the office, they have us a bucket of candy for the class and sent us back and we would just be told not to get too loud.

There's so much difference between US and UK teachers like so many of the parents were friends with teachers and like going out on a Saturday together or join in. At our prom and trips our teachers drank alcohol and it was normal

Now imagine a teacher getting high at school hours. I doubt that would be ok in the UK

@@user-dr1rg4vq2q if you talking about prom it's not school hours only the teacher that organised it is in charge. Well in the UK getting high on anything is illegal and drinking isn't

My kids HS has an McXplorers group, where 2 teachers take a group of kids at least twice a year to out of country trips! They've been doing it for years. Granted these kids must be passing, it costs a lot of money (students fundraise) & they must have full parent permission.

Y'all should watch Doc Martin to watch Luisa. She's a teacher in a small town in the UK and I feel like she's accurate, but the show doesn't revolve around the kids or her, so maybe that's why it's a good portrayal of a teacher. Luisa is just my favorite TV Teacher.
