You should talk about student fights and what to do. One of our favorite long term subs was fired due to not breaking up a fight fast enough according to the school. Keep in mind he is 75 and is recovering from cancer.
Same! I love that the cohort runs the gamut from pre-k (Tell), to elementary (Lauren), to middle school (Bri), to high school (Rebecca). It really helps that they can give such a fantastically huge range of experiences here.

To answer his question: YES kids know they have a Karen mom. My mom was one and I learned to tell her the bare minimum or else she was going to go off on someone for literally doing their job.
I once got a sunburn on my lower legs after going to the pool one summer. When we got home, my legs were so sensitive that as my mom put aloe on them, my legs felt like they were getting burned again. Don't remember what we did instead but it didn't last for long.
My birthday always fell during teacher days right before school started. For years my husband took me to an office supply store for my birthday so I had the best equipped room in the school. People always wanted to know how I got the school to buy a small laminator, electric pencil sharpener, electric stapler, etc - no, none of that was common in the 20th Century. You better believe my name was engraved into all that stuff ‘cause it would for sure disappear. One year someone gave me a bunch of personalized pencils that said “Mrs Townsend’s pencil”.
You are so right about the speed limit in Memphis! Everytime we have a teacher training in Memphis I stress out for days. I'd rather drive in 2nd gear through Atlanta rush hour traffic than anywhere on 40 or 240 in Memphis!

As a 1980's kid, the thing to do was to go to the Jersey shore for senior week right after graduation. Catholic schools had the first week and the public schools had the second. Never go to the Jersey shore in June. Lol I thought they stopped doing that until my 11th grade daughter said that her and her friends were doing that same thing after graduation. I said "Oh hell no, I KNOW what goes on down there!!" LOL Love your videos. You guys are awesome! Thanks for sharing.
My teacher had went on a trip and left on a Friday so she had a sub and when she came back she realized that the sub had taken favorite grading pen out of her drawer that she had hidden under a pile of papers.
Interesting that Tell said that it's encouraged to be eye level with the children... I have to say as an ex teachers assistant in a middle school, a lot of bad behavior and not being able to discipline comes from students feeling that they are one the same level with adults. This becomes clearer as they get into middle school and high-school
I would genuinely watch it if an entire episode was designated to substitutes. There was once a sub in one of my classes who literally went through all of my teacher's stuff and reorganized everything (copies of tests, worksheets, etc). My teacher was livid when he came back and told the school to never put that sub back in his room.

Hello I’m 14. My grandma is a bus driver for a different county I’m in so we had different spring break weeks. So for my spring break I rode the bus with her all throughout that week to help her keep the elementary kids in line. It was a lot of fun and me and the kids got along great. Some kids that didn’t like my grandma liked me a lot and vise versa. It sucked waking up early but it was fun talking to the kids. My grandma drove them for a semester and didn’t know all the names but I learned all them in 1 week cause I talked to every single one. School ended a week earlier so I rode with them for the last week of school and talked to the 5th graders about the middle school cause I did only 6th grade there. I even rode some 3 weeks of summer school with her just because I was bored. I didn’t talk to any one them though; they were elementary, middle and high schools all at one time cause their short on drivers.
I'm a Canadian high school student I'm in 9th grade I just barley started but my principal is walking around the school I see her almost everyday just walking in the halls and the principal and my teachers are all nice friends and it's great
all i’ve ever done on spring break as a teacher is go visit family out of town and take my kids to see all the sights. i really want to go to a beach someday
Sitting here watching this on my spring break, literally dying with laughter. Mine is not until the week of April 11. It has been a long crazy school year, but I only got six weeks left!
The sun is so much stronger here in Florida. My first weekend here, my now husband and I went to the beach a few times over the weekend. That Monday I had to drive to fort Lauderdale (over a four hour drive). I hurt so bad. I had burned so badly that I was literally purple! I was covered in blisters and just hurt so bad (and I also had bronchitis). I must have quite the site for anyone who saw me, especially my boss lol
My husband and I got married on June 26, 2022 simply because I wanted to have time to do crafty stuff for the wedding, I wanted to do my r bachelorette trip to Six Flags Over Georgia when school was out (our last day was May 26 2022), and I definitely did not want to worry about my classroom prep time being taken up in July or having to use personal days for my honeymoon during the school year.😂 I was so stressed out planning the wedding last year that I had a freaking siezure out of nowhere. I didn’t even get to do much of the crafty stuff because, I was laid up the week before the wedding bc I had to have emergency surgery to drain a giant cyst that came out on my abdomen. Thank God for my sister (also a teacher) who worked on all of my crafty stuff and my Mom (former nurse) who drove an hour out to my house every day so she could pack my wound and take care of me so my now-husband didn’t have to miss work and could still take off for the honeymoon! The surgeon and everyone else were super surprised that I healed up enough to where I wouldn’t have to have the wound packed on the wedding day and I could go swimming on our honeymoon! ❤
This year, my city has different spring breaks. I just had mine (went back to college) during March 7-11. Now half the city is on break, including the 2 biggest district. Funny thing is that Texas decided to be bipolar and went from 80 to 32 like it saw a state trooper. Also a group of teachers from my mom's school are going on a wine tasting for their spring break
I went to high school in Sacramento decades ago. My Spanish teacher went to Mexico during spring break to visit family. He kept screwing up English that Monday afterward.
They have sunscreen patches you can buy that turn the color of your skin when sunscreen is applied and turns purple when your sunscreen washes off and you need to reapply I was a camp counselor worked outside all day 6 days a week it was my lifesaver

My last spring break, right before we left on our trip, my face, particularly my teeth, were hurting really badly constantly. Halfway through the trip I wake up one morning to half of my face swollen to twice its normal size.
