SSDs get pretty hot these days, I'm wondering what impact it will have on the battery. Too bad Lenovo couldn't find space for a 2280 drive to begin with.
Awesome video mate, well explained. Fancy doing your own install guide for your emulator lenovo legion go and any hiccups you may come across? Just purchased a refurbished one dirt cheap from a credible seller 👍
@Swickedy thank you. My device is fully set up. I gonna start over if I make a video for emulator. But here is a link you can checkout ua-cam.com/video/5uGk-zPFoXg/v-deo.htmlsi=_mWidzdnW0tc-NJI
I have the same plate and 2280 adaptor, have yet to switch over. I also bought the verticle 2280 adaptor. I'm not sure if I want to throw in a spare 2TB I have or get another 4TB.
Hi, can you perform an ssd speed test in order to knows if you are getting pcie gen 4 speed? Mine adapter cannot exceed 3500MT/s on a LEXAR NM790. Thanks
@@raybca i customised my Legion as for you with a dedicated custom cover and 4TB SSD (in my case I added an high profile heatsink) then in conclusion, added 2 30x30x7 mm fans near the main fans (exhaust). It looks nice and noizy at the same time but it helps a lot during the hard gaming sessions.

What USB port is it connected to? If you want the fast speed, you'll need to connect to USB 3. You'll never get fast speeds on USB 2. You can tell, if it's a USB C that will be 3. If it's an old style port, then if it's blue then it's 3.
@@raybca Is it connected directly to the port, or are you going through a USB hub? If you have other devices connected to the hub it will throttle the speed as it can only handle the total amount the port can.
Hello may i know whats the status of this installation between ssd and the battery hows the temperature? im wondering ssd and the battery are attached together might be having bloated and can cause fire because of the heat....tell us whats the update with this?thank you.
Thats crazy no thermal pads or heatsink , 😮 will the battery blow up ? I would look into getting the back plate replacement with a opening for a heat sink soon .
@@raybca sure, we all want to know trust me. I was watching a few videos last night after seeing this and the thermals were worse with the vented back plate .... It didn't make sense but you can see for your self
@paulzeev hi I've been busy. Im using my legion Go daily , and I dont see any problem. no issue, the speed still the same. I will try to make update video soon. Im just busy busy right now. Thank you
Try HW Monitor it's free software and can tell you all the temperatures in a second. 😊 Particularly the SSD temp and CPU possibly the battery one too while gaming
I do not recommend this modification, it may work well for a while but the distribution of components is designed that way for a reason Battery and SSD should not be together Use a less invasive modification, don't risk it
@brandongazpartorres920 I agree with you. I took the risk on this modification. But so far, my unit is working well. I will make an update if I see any abnormalities. Thank you
@rizkyjayadi7456 Good question, i don't know the exact temperature, but so far, I dont have any problem with the performance. I was playing for 5 hours the other day, and I dont see any issue. Too bad I dont have a thermometer to test it.
There are several tools for windows that can show you the temperature of the ssd. I use HWinfo it’s free and gives a ton of info. The ssd in the video is one of the coldest ones, so probably it won’t harm to place it near the battery, but many of the modern ssd’s can reach close to 100*C under load like when installing a game, and I would not like such temps in proximity to lithium battery
@@raybca thanks for the asnwer. I just curious about ssd temp if we placed to Battery because is it safe or not for long term. I found some channel make some Mod case they make slot for 2282 ssd so i look it's more safe than place on battey
@ibapreppie the time i made the video M.2 2242 4tb wasn't available. This upgrade serves me well, and im not changing it any time soon. It's good that 2242 4tb is now available. it's way easier to swap out the NVMe.
I've been looking for an in-depth ssd replacement tutorial and you explained it well! Great video!

FYI .... I screwed up the bluetooth antenna trying to peel it off the bracket ... I don't think you are supposed to peel it off.
@randomheroyoutube Sorry to hear. The cables are very thin, and we have to be careful when doing the process.

@themadatheist1976 That's totally up to you. 2tb is not a bad option. I just need 4tb because I use my legion Go as my gaming handheld/travel pc.
What is the function of aluminum foil on the Legion Go SSD?
@@labibmustofafor the heat.

@Axospirit85 hi I posted a picture of it here. Feel free to check it out. Thank you
Your adapter is probably only working in x2 mode instead of x4. You can check it with CrystalDiskInfo utility.
I fixed it buying a new one. The previous one was damaged on the flat( hardly bended).
@Axospirit85 good to know. Let me know if you have more questions. I will look for answers. Thank yku
