Me and my sisters loved this movie as kids. My dad actually dubbed a copy of it on our vcr when we rented it. Both sisters have since passed away, thanks for doing this vid. Brings back great memories.
Imagine how good a horror version of this movie could do now, with all of us who grew up with the Garbage Pal Kids are now adults and would love to see them and we don't need our parents permission to go see it.
I always remember Astin in the final few seasons of THE FACTS OF LIFE. He was like the 'hot little brother' character strategically added to the show in hopes of getting girl viewers to crush on him. Also George Clooney was in the last couple seasons which is beside the point.
I think this is a good time to point out we probably said that to our parents sometime long ago as well and kind of has merit as long as they know of some of the stupid crap they're in to watching ( CGI infused movies with crap writing or "reality shows" that serve no purpose for entertainment😁
@D. Anthony Franco Same here, Didn't realize the awfulness until much much later but that doesn't mean it leaves the special place in my heart for it 😊
My kids do the same thing when I watch movies from my time" its boring" except my 16 yr old she loves old movies sits up and watch cats eye the boring movie but still watch it.
Katie Barberi’s USA acting career didn’t take off sadly. However she is actually a native of Mexico, 100% bilingual and has starred in many Mexican soap operas so there’s that.
Your closing on this movie makes me think of Swamp Thing. I remember loving the movie as a kid. After watching again as an adult. I understand how bad my taste in movies was as a kid. WOW
I was 7 when the movie got released. I am really glad I heard of this movie fpr the first time a few years ago and not as a child. It probably would have traumatized me.
that original idea actually is freaking awesome. I already love this movie because I had the cards as a kid. I grew up playing with the cards and loved the gross aspect of it all. Now as an adult finding out about the original plot, I gotta say, that would have been brilliant if this was a horror movie like the Puppet Master.
I enjoy watching your videos. One thing I want to add: Katie Barberi is still active, but mostly in Mexico where she was born. She has been on several TV shows and movies there. Just look at her IMDB page. She's still has this attractive look.
I really liked this movie when I was a kid. I never realized how bad it did back then. I will say that the horror angle would be very exciting to see. I would definitely watch.
Your final fight sums up my whole feelings about that movie. I loved to collect those cards at the time. The movie was great, I was 10 years old And remember how fun collecting those cards with my friends was.
This film makes Foodfight the Movie, The Room, The Barney the Dinosaur movie, The Micheal Bay Transformers live action films, Bratz the Movie (don't ask me about that at all), and Son of the Mask look like good and enjoyable movies to watch. THAT'S RIGHT, I FREAKING WENT THERE!!
it actually came out on Blu ray as a collectors edition from shout factory. they even gave it bonus features. Special Features Include: -“The Effects of the Garbage Pail Kids Movie:” Interviews with special makeup effects creator John Carl Buechler and makeup effects artist Gino Crognale -“On the Set:” An interview with first assistant director Thomas A. Me too. I had complete sets of series 1 through 6. Rats ate them in a storage unit my parents got to keep shit in. Climate control yes...rodent free no. I was so pissed.
It will always hold a special place with me as it was the first thing I watched when I parents purchased one of those huge satellite 📡 dishes back in the 80s.
Every kid had these cards in the 80’s & early 90’s! I loved the cards! The dinosaurs eating ppl & ripping them apart were always my fave, & my hubby’s fave as a kid too. I didn’t know about the movie till later.
The weird part about this move is that Jim Cummings (the voice of Darkwing Duck) did he voice of Nat-Nerd and that Elvis impersonating Garbage-Pail Kid!
I remember when those cards came out. I had them, and "Wacky Packages" all over the place. Back then, the "kiss of death" for any product was for parents to like it. If you had something kids/teens liked and parents hated, you had a gold mine.
thank you so much for doing this one took me back to my kid days you had to be here and be a card collector to understand the cards were huge when the movie came out
I've never seen the movie, but the thing that surprised the hell out of me was the fact one of the original creators of the cards, Art Spiegelman, was the same guy who wrote MAUS. That really blew my mind.
For all its sins The Garbage Pail Kids does feature the single greatest fart gag ever committed to celluloid. During the bar brawl Windy Winston farts in a man's face, blowing off the attacker's baseball cap and mustache. That irreverent bit of slapstick is one of the main reasons I still love this film today.
GPK, both the cartoon series and the movie version, were a big hit here in Manila. The cartoon series was aired every Saturday morning from 1990-1993 (back-to-back with Beverly Hills Teens) and the movie version was shown in the summer of 1994.
Here is a fun fact. The actress Katie Barberi ended up appearing on Mexican soap operas. I know because my mother is a huge soap opera fan and viewer and I would watch some of them with her because they had some really hot actresses in them. I recognized the actress right away in a couple of them.
Thank you again for doing yet another video Minty. I was never interested in this video, and it has been ripped apart by so many lists for being terrible, but thanks all the same for doing this video.
I loved this movie as a child! I collected the cards and I definitely remember watching this movie as soon as it came out! I really do wish that they would remake it because I know they could make it look amazing! But I do wish they would go with horror this time. Like a dark, horror comedy. THAT would be great! Thank for taking the time to make this video for us!! You're AWESOME! 🤜🤛👍🤪🤪😊
Great, cult Film, and definitely a must watch if you haven't already!! I had the V-hs tape, but then I upgraded to the DVD, so iam caught up with that 1....Lol 😆. Great job Mr. Minty!!
I was born in the 70s, American, and loved collecting those cards. My world was shaped by afternoon television too. Still never knew this movie existed.
Minty- thanks for bringing us obscure movies like the Garbage Pail Kids/a.k.a. Gang. i've never seen the movie but now i want to. Happy Thanksgiving from ur American fans!
Heeheheheheh another EXCELLENT video, Minty!!!! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️
4:12, Seriously, I really wanna know why they would reject the idea of having the film be a Horror Movie.
Me and my sisters loved this movie as kids. My dad actually dubbed a copy of it on our vcr when we rented it. Both sisters have since passed away, thanks for doing this vid. Brings back great memories.
I still own this movie on VHS and I'll never let it go
Ae you sayig you like it?
I doubt anyone would want it lol
Not true. The movie on vhs is worth about 80 bucks on ebay
@Lebo leigh Leigh Don't ask me.
I hope that Peacefrog regetted owning it.
Thank you for performing this public service.
Imagine how good a horror version of this movie could do now, with all of us who grew up with the Garbage Pal Kids are now adults and would love to see them and we don't need our parents permission to go see it.

He was like the 'hot little brother' character strategically added to the show in hopes of getting girl viewers to crush on him. Also George Clooney was in the last couple seasons which is beside the point.
From my admittedly poor memory, Clooney came off a bit douchey, IMO.
My son walked into the front room when I was watching the movie and he promptly told me Mom this is stupid
I see why it's looks terible movie
I just got embarrassed.
I think this is a good time to point out we probably said that to our parents sometime long ago as well and kind of has merit as long as they know of some of the stupid crap they're in to watching ( CGI infused movies with crap writing or "reality shows" that serve no purpose for entertainment😁

It was one of my favourite films as a young teenager and still is
Thank you
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮👎👎👎👎👎👎
I remember in elementary school we weren’t allowed to have garbage pail kids cards
Hey, I love the Garbage Pail kids and so do a lot of people.
I love the cards to death and the 80s♥️🤘😎🤘 but i hate to death the garbage pail kids movie.🤮💩
I still have a few of the trading cards and a copy of the movie, which I watch every now and then.
Me to lol I was 10 when this came out
Jason Groves cool😊
Same here. I have 4 un opened boxes.
You don't watch it. Come on man.
LMFAO the school bullies look like a blade trinity reject squad
Welp now we know we're they got the look for hahah
That one dude does look like a young Triple H lol
lol
I still want to know the fraction of cocaine snorted when the pitch meeting for this movie
Hopefully Pitch Meeting does a video for the film. I can't imagine it would be an inconvenience.
@@projectmayhem6898 let's suggest that
Too much cocaine 😂
Minty: UA-cam is wired
Lystra: NO IT IS FUCKING Garbage
I'm guessing 3/4 .
I like how the gang that bully the kid are in their 20’s.
30's seemingly!
If Jack Black can play a high school bully in "Neverending Story 3", then anything is possible.
@@thewolfofwallstreet627 Look out, it's The Nasties!
Who says it still isn't a horror movie? Everything about that movie is freakish to look at. Makes me highly uncomfortable.
@Joe Blow
Your mom hates you
@Shove This L Up Your Ass
Love how you came limping in with that. All caps... Pffft
in the movie, the state home for the ugly wants them off the streets for being gross, everybody is different, so don't be hatin'
@@futuramayeah
You seem offended

Katie Barberi’s USA acting career didn’t take off sadly. However she is actually a native of Mexico, 100% bilingual and has starred in many Mexican soap operas so there’s that.
I didn't know that
She was recently in 'Saw X'!
MINTY i'm 40 and i grew up with these cards. just had some really cool pictures and art. don't know why it works but it does. great video again.
The 11th thing i didn't know about this movie is that I wasn't aware that they even had a movie!
Katie Barberi I thought was spunky when I saw this as a kid. Heck, she grew out nicely as well.
I watched this movie back to back 20 times when I was a kid lol 😂
Loved this movie as a kid. They should of went with horror
*should have 😉
@D. Anthony Franco fuck you it's a terrible movie!
This movie is horrible!
They still could. Make it where bad ones come to earth and good ones come to help some kids/teens. I love to see that
Your closing on this movie makes me think of Swamp Thing. I remember loving the movie as a kid. After watching again as an adult. I understand how bad my taste in movies was as a kid. WOW

What would it do to you today, Montz!
@@Shred_The_Weapon It would just disgust me and leave me baffled how something like that even got produced.
"Montz" .. lmao
I apologize, *Moritz.* My eyesight almost always prevents me from spelling correctly.
@@Shred_The_Weapon No problem. I genuinely think it was funny.^^
Tangerine was in a fun episode of Freddy's Nightmares
Could you imagine if this was a horror movie? Chuckie actually could have been one of the dolls.
He also would've been one of the tamer "kids" (by comparison) as well.
GPK trading cards were such the rave here in the Philippines from 1987 to 1990. Totally made my childhood memorable!
As a kid, I loved the movie... as an adult... I still love it.
that original idea actually is freaking awesome. I already love this movie because I had the cards as a kid. I grew up playing with the cards and loved the gross aspect of it all. That gum the cards came with....... 2 or 3 chews and the flavour was gone.

I watched this movie a lot when I was a kid. Amazing research for it. I did not know any of this! THUMBS UP!
I'm loving your film analysis videos, Minty! They're factual and informative but also personal and funny. I'm a fan of your work!
I had soooooo many of these cards!! I love collecting them!! Wish I still had them.
I really liked this movie when I was a kid. I never realized how bad it did back then. I will say that the horror angle would be very exciting to see. I would definitely watch.

This movie was so off the beaten path when it came out.

this was life in my child hood cards was as cool as the film....minty you did it again 👌
I liked the way you called Eastenders a sitcom. It's supposed to be a gritty drama but has turned into more of a sitcom over the years.
"...experts at making 1980s fashion designer clothes." See, when you say that out loud in hindsight it makes sense...
Yikes, I didn't know there was a movie. But I loved the cards when I was a kid.
Cheers.
Im 31 years old swedish guy and still fucking love the garbage pail kids cards and the 80s.😍🤘💀🤘
I loved that movie when it came out lol. And I watched it over and over again 🤣🤣
I think those costumes is actually really a good attempt at what the Garbage Pail Kids looked like on the cards
Im happy this Ep was remade being the original was broken. Fantastic work.
