This is one of my favorite comedies as well. My wife and I saw it in the theater when it first came out and found it be delightfully whimsical, although both of us remembered the 60s as being far less glamorous... but then we didn't get to experience the decade in swinging London like Austin Powers did.
It's funny to think that in a few years the time between the Austin Powers movie coming out and the present will be longer than the amount of time he was frozen.
You could probably do a follow up of this showing the differences between the US & the international versions of the film. As an Austin fan, I had no idea we got a watered down version here in the states! BTW - You're "Yeah baby!"s were on point. Well performed!
Dude this is one of my favourite trilogies thank you so much for doing this I haven’t watched this upload yet but I already know it’s gonna be blowing my mind with new information about this film that I knew nothing about before👌🏻😁👊🏻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
Being a teenager throughout the 90's myself, I would definitely agree that Austin Powers was the most quotable comedic movie of that decade... right behind Friday that is. This is my opinion and is based solely on my experiences with the kind of people who I associated myself with, whether randomly or regularly, and that is that as much as those people liked to quote Austin Powers AND Dr Evil, I definitely heard more people quoting Friday. And with Friday it wasn't just the main characters (Smokey and Craig) who were quoted, a lot of the small characters who were only in a scene or 2 had memorable lines that were often quoted by the public, at least in the part of the public that I was around the most.
Peter Asher from Peter and Gordon, and a producer for many famous music acts, told his audience once at a show in Buffalo New York that the Austin Powers look was based a lot on his look, and that Michael Myers actually told him
Being from East coast USA, I can tell you that for me and for everyone I knew at the time, no one saw the movie in the theater. I specifically remember walking out of a different movie and seeing it listed on the theater across the hall and thinking "What the hell is that movie? Looks dumb"... ...Then the VHS hit... and I probably never laughed so hard at a movie so many times with such replay value in all my life. By the end me and my best friend had entire scenes memorized. Good times. Goes to show you, can't judge a movie by its box office numbers.
I remember before the movie was released me and a friend were obsessed with watching 4 clips from the movie they released on the web when dialup internet was a thing. We used to go around quoting the sharks with freakin laser beams scene before the movie ever came out. We were so happy the whole movie turned out funny ;) Thanks RealPlayer!
Austin Powers International Man of Mystery completely passed me by at the time. I saw The Spy Who Shagged Me without having any idea that it was a sequel.
Great video! MTV here in America saturated their broadcasts with Austin Powers adverts in preparation for the premier, including frequent playing of Ming Tea's "BBC" music video. I thought everybody went to see it, because everybody was quoting lines from the film with that "British" accent 😀
BS. Kids are just interested in different crap now and don't understand humor like this. It's irrelevant to them, they are busy collecting sneakers and skinny jeans.
now i have a sense of purpose for adding the australian version to a dvd collection, this series was a staple in my childhood, and mike meyers in general, classic
The best writers tend to be writers, not actors. Of course some do both, and some actors get so into character that they can feel how certain lines should or should not go. But that's not something that should be pushed too hard, IMO.
Great job Minty. Your Productions are getting better all the time! Thank you for all you do, you genuinely bring a smile to my face and I enjoy watching your videos 👍

Finally... now those 60s band musical breaks make sense!
Austin powers never gets old a great classic!!!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
My coworkers and I quote this movie so much. Man of mystery is one of the funniest movies ever
I always hoped for a fourth one, where Austin and Dr. Evil teamed up to take care of a new threat, Dr. Evil's son.
Fun fact: ERB did a rap battle between Austin Powers and James Bond.
What I love about the franchise is the same actor plays the antagonist and the protagonist.
It was a big deal in 97’ ! I graduated at y the time and we quoted this movie to no end ! It’s a classic!
Id like to point out part of the Austin Powers dance is very similar to the Chris Farley dance from his Chip n’ Dales skit on SNL.
Chipendales
David Honez 😂😂👍👍
Don't get me wrong I also Iove chip' n dale
11:26.....I see what you did there!!! The hard "R" rating!!! Hahahaha!!!
Austin Powers is pure comedy gold. It is art that had to be made.
This is one of my favorite comedies as well. My wife and I saw it in the theater when it first came out and found it be delightfully whimsical, although both of us remembered the 60s as being far less glamorous... but then we didn't get to experience the decade in swinging London like Austin Powers did.
Allow myself to introduce myself 😂
Lmao😂....Hey girl the whole series is frickin halarious
His delivery of the line made it even funnier: "Allow myself...to, introduce...myself". Talk about 'dramatic pause'!!😆
@@magicvampirelver1321 Hey girl, absolutely 😁
@@jenniferbaldini3527 it was hilarious 😁
😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's funny to think that in a few years the time between the Austin Powers movie coming out and the present will be longer than the amount of time he was frozen.
my favorite quote is from the sequel
"No,we don't gnaw on our kitty"
You could probably do a follow up of this showing the differences between the US & the international versions of the film. As an Austin fan, I had no idea we got a watered down version here in the states! BTW - You're "Yeah baby!"s were on point. Well performed!
When I used to wear glasses people at school told me I looked like a black Austin Powers lol
Racist
Dude this is one of my favourite trilogies thank you so much for doing this I haven’t watched this upload yet but I already know it’s gonna be blowing my mind with new information about this film that I knew nothing about before👌🏻😁👊🏻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
I had completely forgot about Ming Tea. Thanks, Minty! 💙
Always loved the austin powers movies, it has given my dad and i quotes for a lifetime.
I always thought the quote was, "funny how Southern England looks nothing like Southern California."
The uughh when going to the floor at the end. Priceless.
You nailed that impression Minty!
13:50, I loved this film when I watched, and I still do. Thanks for the video! See you later!
The actor Joe Son is in prison for torture. Who throws a shoe? honestly...
The dude from that President Bush incident must have been a fan😂
2:40, Monty Python meets James Bond!!
I want to see that in the next James Bond movie
"Who does number two work for?"
I remember before the movie was released me and a friend were obsessed with watching 4 clips from the movie they released on the web when dialup internet was a thing.
We used to go around quoting the sharks with freakin laser beams scene before the movie ever came out. We were so happy the whole movie turned out funny ;)
Thanks RealPlayer!
I saw this while on a date back in high school and still love it just as much. It definitely stands the test of time!
They should do a new movie where its now almost 30 years later and he has to adjust again, and his clothes and slang are now extremely 90's
That is a killer idea
Which part of the 90s? Sometimes, esp. technology wise, they were almost two separate decades.
Nice one, Minty.
Now I want to see what you can find out about the sequels after all the groovy facts about the 1st one.
Imagine if he had unfrozen today, one hour tops, then jail.
Watching your videos every morning is a lovely way to start the day. Thanks for doing this!!
I just watched it earlier and I had a good time watching it
🍔 Pennywise Survivor that's messed up
7:00, yeah.... That kind of dialogue would never work in this day and age.
Too many thin-skinned snowflakes
BS. Kids are just interested in different crap now and don't understand humor like this. It's irrelevant to them, they are busy collecting sneakers and skinny jeans.
I'd say it was always big here in Canada, but then Mike is our hometown grown talent. He put the grrrr in swinger, baby! Yeah!
now i have a sense of purpose for adding the australian version to a dvd collection, this series was a staple in my childhood, and mike meyers in general, classic
I got a whole bag of Shhhhhh
They should let more actors make up lines. Especially in comedy.
The best writers tend to be writers, not actors. Of course some do both, and some actors get so into character that they can feel how certain lines should or should not go. But that's not something that should be pushed too hard, IMO.
@@patrickmccurry1563 I'm not saying every line, but I certainly think a scene or actor chemistry should be allowed to flourish sometimes.
Great job Minty. Your Productions are getting better all the time! Thank you for all you do, you genuinely bring a smile to my face and I enjoy watching your videos 👍
I watched this on DVD with my folks. We just got a DVD player and I got a chance to pick films. Was one of the best movie nights with the family, so awkward, but so funny.
