3 things I need to correct in my haste to get out this video. 1. The Competition Chart, states cost is 25k, but 19.1k is the base price here in Germany - Standard options, no center stand & speaking of center stand: 2. The Center Stand is missing from my weight savings calculation - which is about 2+ kg. 3. The BMW K1600 does not have inductive charging.
Here in Bulgaria the base price comes around 18.7k euros (36.6k BGN) from the dealer's website. That is with the white color and the base 3 years warranty. No taxes included. It is pretty stripped down tough - I wouldn't ride it without at least some accessories...
I always watch your video's, and your Competition Chart is very informative, but, unfortunately, as I'm dwarf like, I struggle to mount a big bike. So I ask, is there any chance you could include a column on your chart for the standard seat height? Regards
Had the 2021 R1250R Lost it when Van hit me and the bike. Ordered a 2022 1250 GS for coming out of Rehab as a reward for getting through the rehab and to prove there are no inhibitions towards riding . 👍 Served it’s purpose released and sold. Now have the 100 anniversary R 1250R 2023 fully loaded. No regrets 🏍️👍🇨🇦

Nice review! The GS has evolved a lot since the original R 80GS. As far as weight goes, my 2007 R 1200 GS weights standard, from the factory 226kg I have changed the heavy exhaust system to a light weight titanium Mivv system and shaved off another 6kg. My GS is now only 2kg heavier than my R nineT!

Thank you for your honest, kind words. The only reason that I'm "raw & classic" is because I am a "1 man show" and I have the bike for just a short period of time, for this video was just 36 hours. If I had the bikes for longer periods of time I could be less raw. I get bikes from the dealers, not direct from the OEM, I'm hoping that I will get big enough one day to get them directly and keep them for longer periods of time but for now, this is all I can do. Second time watching this great review - enjoying it as a virtual alternative while I wait for my r1300 which arrives in Oz by early Feb hopefully! Great insights and picked up a couple of things the second time. Ive picked up some complaints by some reviewers (who seem to be old GS obsessed) I just sold my 2022 1250 GSA after doing around 30K on it to get the r1300.Your review helped me decide not to wait for the GSA version and go for a lighter bike this time around. Ive ridden the Pan America, KTM and Triumph - the GS was preferred. No bikes available to ride yet in Oz so watching the GS videos will have to keep me going till mine arrives. Thanks for the vids, saw that you bought one yourself. Incidentally I have seen a couple of reviewers complain about the vario panniers failing on the central locking or difficult to get off, be interested in finding out if this is a common thing or early production gremlin.
I really hope to see the lowering suspension on the RT. My issue always has been that when I have the seat low enough to comfortably flat foot the bike I become to cramped as the seat to peg distance is then too short. Guess I get to wait for the 2025 RT
BMW has raised the level in the class, now everyone must have active cruise control and suspension, blind spot radar, full Integral ABS Pro brakes, electric windscreen, etc. The other competitors can add more technology, but combined with engine power in terms of torque and low center of gravity, it will be more difficult to achieve. I am sold, have placed an order for triple black.😊

Scott Test rode one and found it to be very "BMW" like in the handling department. Very vague and not connected. The quick shifter was very clunky from 2-1. Other than that it's nicer, to me, than the 1250 GS. For me my 2023 Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Explorer kills it in the handling, shifting, acceleration and Fun to ride boxes. New Benchmark? They are now trying to play catch up. Great video as always Sir Ride SAFE and BE safe! 👍👍
Thanks Scott very good review. I changed my 2021 Rt for a 2023 Rt maybe I should have wait the Rt 2024. Question for you ? Quick shifter maybe nice to have but really tell me what is use for what is the real purpose of it ? I have this option on my Rt but changing gears is taking me 1 inch pull on the shifter done in 1 second personally I would like more having the option to go automatic than having a quick shifter which I really don't use much
You had me at spreadsheets! Lol. I do the same thing. At this point I have about 10 years of bikes of all kind and thousands of datapoints. It’s mildly psychotic but I like it. Keep up the good work.

Great review. I wasn't initially keen on the looks but its grown on me and besides that it sounds like it is improved in every area. I'll have to wait until some come into second hand market in a couple of years but I'm sure I'll be buying one.

By far, the most useful review of the new GS; it appears to be another state-of-the-art adventure bike. The only thing left unanswered? Nostalgia aside, is the 2034 eGS really that much better?

Hey Scott, great review thanks. I am a Ducatista at heart but this is the first time I am looking at a BMW. I currently ride a 2010 MTS 1200S that I am totally in love with but it is getting long in the tooth. (older italian machinery tends to get chubby and grumpy) I also have a xDiavelS that will always be my mistress (think Sophia Loren...)... words cannot describe the fun and pleasure that bike brings me ... I am now looking at perhaps my last bigbike investment ... I am 63 and do around 30000 km a year in sth Asia (Thailand based). . The Duke v4S caught my eye ... i dont really do serious off road ... and then came the Ducati Pikes Peak ... thought it was the bees knees for me being an ex amateur road racer ... until they announced the enduro .. ticked all the boxes ..... now this bmw1300 has confused me ... its like I have to choose between 2 gorgeous voluptuous women to share the rest of my life with ... the sultry italian or the reliable german. I am still erring on the side of the italian .... to keep me on my toes ... and keep me feeling young ... so I am interested to hear your thoughts given you have spent intimate time with both ... where your thoughts given my situation ...

Good job.👍 This bike is quite a package no doubt about that. The only question is should I wait for 1300 RT or buy this one. If they implement this engine, better front feel, 10kg lighter RT, a little better seat to foot ration, it's gonna be a killer road bike. 30k is a lot of money so it really should tick all the boxes.
I don't get why anyone should buy this while they can just get used-like-new 1250's from all the people who jump on the newest thing just to go pick up a coffee with these beasts 1250 looks better and is 99% as good, what's the point?
@@Galf506 Well somebody has to buy it new, otherwise there would be no used bikes😀 . Imo it really isn't a big difference 20k (used like new 1250) or 30k. If you care for 10k that much then you probably shouldn't buy it for 20k anyway...at least I wouldn't.
They may have made the flywheel heavier to help it at lower rpm. Could also have made changes to crank. Back in the day we used to knife edge them so the engine would spin up quicker so more hp but less torque.
Excellent as always Scott. Looks great in that green with the electric screen. Roll on the R1300 RS (for me - IF they do one)……… so you DO get bad weather in Germany (occasionally !) x

The lid doesn’t lock because they want you to buy the panniers!? 😅
This is probably the first GS I've looked at and thought I like the looks of that (that green colour is to die for). Also with the 820 low seat setting and self lowering suspension makes it well with in my short leg comfort zone. The price was a bit of a shocker though in UK I think it will be about £25K+ when you have finished adding the essential options. Will definitely be seeing about a test ride, who knows it might replace my lovely Mandello S.
@@nickzourb190 i have a feeling that the new Stelvio will have the same issue for me as the old Stelvio the seat height is just gonna be to tall with out any major options for seat height reduction.
Just came back from the dealer. I was surprised that off the side stand the new bike takes noticeable more effort to set upright than the 1250 GSA. At 80kgs the GSA with two hands on the steering bars and a lean-on with my hips, the bike is up effortlessly. On the 1300 GS it also requires a push of the legs. I tried this multiple times alternating, wanting to be wrong. But no, convinced it takes more effort on the new. Don't know what it is. Maybe the cylinders are now higher with the gear box under, and looking to keep the same clearance. In this particular aspect feels more Ducati like, top heavy. A shame. The magic of the weightlessness of the big giant seems to be gone. Which was what made the previous bike incredibly easy to live with; and this comparison is with the GA and old GSA!. Let's see when the GSA 1300 comes out, but my suspicion is that people will not the thrilled.
Great job on this review. And you're probably one of the first online vloggers yet to try this bike - I appreciate your honest opinions about this motorcycle. It's definitely on my wishlist😊. Only gripe is that it reminds me / looks like a CFMOTO 800 MT, but hey I guess the Chinese will always be ahead in this industry from now on.
Beautiful bike! I have a 2022 R 1250 GS 40th Anniversary with all options all the cases 719 package. Getting a new GS means I start all over again. UGH. My Bike is phenomenal and i love the rugged look. The two main things I like about the new GS. Electric windscreen, better quick shifter, safety features. I’ll have to test ride one to see if I’m blown away. Fantastic Review!!!
I have nothing against you, but My whole experience with a motorcycle it's the attention to the little thing on the road and the vibrations of my engine between my legs and .... Everything!!! Maybe because I am new to this😂

Yes ! Well stated. I am only 5'8" and 140 lbs. I struggle with that same issue on my '15 RT.

I think that the VAST majority of GS riders would prefer that lost liter of fuel over a phone compartment (which I assume is where that space went).

I don't get why anyone should buy this while they can just get used-like-new 1250's from all the people who jump on the newest thing just to go pick up a coffee with these beasts
1250 looks better and is 99% as good, what's the point?
@@Galf506 Well somebody has to buy it new, otherwise there would be no used bikes😀 . Imo it really isn't a big difference 20k (used like new 1250) or 30k. If you care for 10k that much then you probably shouldn't buy it for 20k anyway...at least I wouldn't.
They may have made the flywheel heavier to help it at lower rpm. Could also have made changes to crank. Back in the day we used to knife edge them so the engine would spin up quicker so more hp but less torque.
Fantastic first review on this bike. Now it's shed weight and is more compact I'm very tempted to take a test ride!

Didn’t appreciate that they choose to put a charging usb port instead of and induction surface for the phone and really didn’t understand what they were thinking with the contacts for the side luggage cases!? The lid doesn’t lock because they want you to buy the panniers!? 😅
Yea, those are 2 points that bother me the most for a bike that starts @ 21k euros. You've got me pegged! 😄👍

Looks like BMW holds the holy grail of motorcycles.
This is probably the first GS I've looked at and thought I like the looks of that (that green colour is to die for). Also with the 820 low seat setting and self lowering suspension makes it well with in my short leg comfort zone. The price was a bit of a shocker though in UK I think it will be about £25K+ when you have finished adding the essential options. Will definitely be seeing about a test ride, who knows it might replace my lovely Mandello S.
23k with a lot of the 'required options' - still mega £££ though
@@nickzourb190 i have a feeling that the new Stelvio will have the same issue for me as the old Stelvio the seat height is just gonna be to tall with out any major options for seat height reduction.

Just came back from the dealer. I was surprised that off the side stand the new bike takes noticeable more effort to set upright than the 1250 GSA. At 80kgs the GSA with two hands on the steering bars and a lean-on with my hips, the bike is up effortlessly. On the 1300 GS it also requires a push of the legs. I tried this multiple times alternating, wanting to be wrong. But no, convinced it takes more effort on the new. Don't know what it is. Maybe the cylinders are now higher with the gear box under, and looking to keep the same clearance. In this particular aspect feels more Ducati like, top heavy. A shame. The magic of the weightlessness of the big giant seems to be gone. Which was what made the previous bike incredibly easy to live with; and this comparison is with the GA and old GSA!. Let's see when the GSA 1300 comes out, but my suspicion is that people will not the thrilled.
I had the same reaction after I sat on the bike and set it upright. Not impressed. I will keep my GSA.

Great job on this review. And you're probably one of the first online vloggers yet to try this bike - I appreciate your honest opinions about this motorcycle. It's definitely on my wishlist😊. Only gripe is that it reminds me / looks like a CFMOTO 800 MT, but hey I guess the Chinese will always be ahead in this industry from now on.

Beautiful bike! I have a 2022 R 1250 GS 40th Anniversary with all options all the cases 719 package. Getting a new GS means I start all over again. UGH. My Bike is phenomenal and i love the rugged look. The two main things I like about the new GS. Electric windscreen, better quick shifter, safety features. I’ll have to test ride one to see if I’m blown away. Fantastic Review!!!
