o man, how can you stay so cool in such a big operation. I was already freaking out watching this video. looking forward to part 2! I really like your video's
Christian, thank you so much for putting that much effort recording/editing these videos while on site, i can imagine it is really time consuming.. really appreciate it, looking forward to pt. 2! :)
because the actual fixtures occupy 40 channels, but the fixture in capture has a different channel number. I will often add a few channels of space between fixtures on shows like this where modes might not be documented properly. this allows space for errors.
Pretty sure most of the lighting fixtures on stage are from China's 'big' lighting manufacturers like Terbly/Goldensea (who I think own Ayrton), ACME e.t.c. Also, love those dual sided 360 bars (Jolly D5 BS), they look very cool.
Does anyone know what the bag / holder on the hip of the guy at 12:43 is called or where I could get one? Looks very comfy. When carrying radios, I always attach it to my jean pocket but that gets in the way a lot of times and that would work so much better. @Christian Long time viewer, first time commenter. Love your channel!
Ooh! The Avery labels for fixtures is fantastic. Goodbye label machine! The problem with the label printers is the label tape is heat sensitive and some get turned black due to bad placement. The advantage of the label printers is they can be used on site and on demand. But... sometimes black labels.
Noob answer; he times the light to the music so they match. Real answer; there are certain ways like for example a SMPTE Timecode. This is a protocol where the dj sends a signal via ethernet to the console with the track he plays. On the console are all the effects and cuestacks preprogrammed and get triggered by the signal from the DJ. On smaller Shows the light operator just prepare his effects and then run them manually by pushing the triggerbuttons. This is the case for the most festival type shows, when there is just one LD and not every act got the own preprogrammed show like on Tommorowland or Ultra. Hope this answer will help you. Best regards from Switzerland.
Im very interested in the work that had to be done prior to this video! What CAD Software did you use? How far could you influence the scenic design? How is your workflow regarding settimg up the lights on the pc and then extracting a showfile from it? I work in a small shop as a CAD planner with Vectorworks and I always ask myself how that all works on big shows like this.
Great video! One thing i noticed: it sounds like you're recording the voiceover with a stereo microphone, and it is a bit weird, the sound isn't completely in the center, a bit shifted to the right. Summing the VO track to mono should fix this issue.
Hello. I'm so excited after watching your videos about event production, lighting, stage design.. Do you have a university degree in this field? However if you do not, will you recommend to receive it?
it was a pleasure to work with you, let's do it again!!!

Great video. Thank you for sharing your job. (you do what I dream of since I was a 8 years old kid)
4:58 why do you have 40 channel offset between fixtures although they are 39 channels each ? Is it for convenience ?
because the actual fixtures occupy 40 channels, but the fixture in capture has a different channel number. I will often add a few channels of space between fixtures on shows like this where modes might not be documented properly. this allows space for errors.
Thank you :)
