Even if this is just an early build or something, it just feels so soulless... It's so clear that this game isn't planned well, they should have built up a new game from zero instead of trying to be lazy and repurposing 7DtD for this, genuinely feels more like just a 7DtD mod than a separate game
I agree :) When I first heard of this game, I was very excited. A whole new game, new cool stuff. And then it turns out re-using a flawed engine/game that barely works for even the base game. Looks and feels more like a mod for sure. 7DTD as the main game has huge issues with multiplayer and zombie hordes attacking. We all know this. Performance is not good, problem with hitboxes, latency, and a host of issues. As a survival game we forgive that, but for a L4D type of game that really doesn't play well.
I saw the booth at PAX East and honestly couldn't be bothered. It's like seeing a new book from an author who is supposed to be finishing off their other trilogy. They also had the 7 Days to Die forever beta in the PC free play area.
I was initially more excited, until I realized they're just re-purposing existing game into ... this. Problem with 7dtd is that it doesn't lend itself to being a 1v4 horde game. It should have been re-developed from scratch.
Seems like 7DBM could be designed for CGL/ESports type competition…
One might have thought so. However, net-code for 7dtd is just not up to pvp properly. Sure it does help that it's mostly players vs npc zombies, but with the hive master being able to take control ... you get into those issues where netcode is even more important.
I think they need to finish 7 days to die first, but I don't think I would buy this game
I just want Alpha 22 to come out and be available on my xbox.
I personally was excited when they announced. And ... I guess I was expecting a NEW game. This seems more like a modded 7 days to die. It's using the core 7dtd software, as opposed to truly making a proper new game.

Seems like 7 Days crossed with Left 4 Dead's multiplayer where you play as a zombie. Honestly... Not a fan. I think they should have finished their first game for now, which is still needing lots of bug fixes and promised content that still hasn't made it in.
Indeed. I think re-using 7DTD might have been expedient, but it's just unwieldy and clunky and doesn't make the game stand out as different.
I think they should focus more on 7 days to die. Pushing Bandits and other promised features. And fixing all there bugs. Especially the old bugs. Focusing on a "new game" will only lead to two unfinished buggy games because of splitting focus and resources. And face it many people will not support the new game because of the history of 7 days to die.
