It's a much cleaner sound and the headphones are more comfortable to wear for longer sessions. Schiit as a brand is nice and look amazing but also don't have an overwhelming presence on the desk. I also use the head amp pre outs to go to my Edifier Luna Eclipse speakers for games like rocket league where sound cues aren't as necessary. I’ve always viewed “pro” headphones as closed back for recording (so there’s no chance of mic bleed), and open back in the control room for mixing and mastering. So you need both, but more of the closed back if you have a studio.

    I am very pleased with the sound of the DT900Pro X! The Clampforce though was a bit too strong right out the box. But that did not stop me from keeping it because I am fully convinced of how they sound. It´s no problem to widen the headphones by stretching them over 2 pillows or something and just leave it like this for a few days, it made it so much better already!

      @rinderkappajoe 2 роки тому +1

      As I said you can easily stretch them. I removed the pads and put the headphone over a row of books and left it for quite a while. The difference was quite remarkable and they got much more comfortable. Still I ended up selling them in favour for Denon D9200 but that had nothing to do with the clampforce but with gear acquisition syndrome 😅

That was until I bought 3 different pairs of headphones that all sounded great but I couldn’t wear them for more than 30 minutes. After all this time I keep coming back to my MH-751’s, I can wear them basically all day. As a massive fan of both the DT 1990 pro and the DT 1770 pro, I've come to really appreciate the Insanity both can offer. The DT 1990 pro in terms of it's near perfection in terms of analytical sound while never being boring. And the the DT 1770 and its sheer enjoyability of its low end. I love the 900’s personally. I have tried the 1990’s and couldn’t seem to get accurate mixes on tracks. The 900’s sound a lot more neutral, and what I’m hearing on the headphones seems very accurate across systems. To me it’s an easy decision but I’ve seen many people who enjoy the 1990’s dislike these. Since the tuning is a bit more neutral it might be boring in comparison to the exciting v shape of the 1990’s. I recommend ordering a pair on Amazon since they have a good return policy if you dislike them.

    There is so many reviews that say these are worse than 770 n 990 and many that love them. I used to own 770, 990 n 1990 and love them all and now I'm planning to go back to beyers. My question is does anyone own 770, 700X, 990, 900X and compared them over couple of hours or days and which ones do you prefer. I guess that this is something that I will have to do eventually. I returned the 770’s and 990’s I had because the highs were unbearable for me, and the sound signature was so different from my ath m40x that I couldn’t get a decent mix on them. I have had the 700’s now for over 2 weeks and I have to say they are my new favorites. It’s almost as if the m40x’s and 770’s had a baby. It’s a bit flatter, the highs can be still extreme at times but it doesn’t push it too far like the 990’s and 770’s did in my opinion. From what I remember the soundstage is slightly less on the 700’s than the 770’s but definitely an improvement from my m40x. I think if that baer spike in the high is a bit extreme for you then these are definitely worth a look. I would think the 900’s would sound amazing with the same drivers but open back.

I used to use Sennheiser hd 380 pro for my video editing and video sound mixing and I was satisfied with the flatness and unbiased sound (after a while I realized that it was not as unbiased as I thought!) so I decided to switch to a new headphone for my editing (consistent bass and a bit warm, bright at mids and not sharp or airy at treble) and now this is my big question: what is the right pick under 350$ ?

I also own the (now discontinued) Beyerdynamic Custom One Pros (COPs) and the 2020 updated version of the Hifiman Sundara. I love the Sundara, but being an open back I have used it a lot less due to enviroment sounds (ceiling fan, dogs, neighbor construction, etc.). Now I have the oportunity of buying another decent headphone (father went travelling to the US). Looking to spend around $200~300 at the most dollars, what should I go for that complements my current possessions??? Meaning, I want some variety tho' not anything over the top that super specific for one use case. I was thinking about the HD6XX from DROP, but they're open back as well... So, besides the Sennheiser HD6XX, anything else you can recommend? Already having a beyerdynamic, not sure if I should go for these (especially cuz I'm looking, primarily, for another closed-back). Any help would be greatly appreciated! Love jazz, rock, pop and everything in between.

      Try the AKG K702 with your K5 Pro. I own them and the HD 6XX, but lately I've been listening to the AKGs a lot more. If you like an extremely open, airy and detailed sound, they're for you. Yes, the bass can be a bit light, but it's tight and very precise. It all depends of the quality of the recording, as they're VERY revealing and don't sound particularly good with modern digital recordings (for that, go with the HD 6XXs, they "smooth out" the harshness of excessive treble). If you're a bass head though, you should avoid the AKGs. These headphones are SERIOUSLY underrated, they're actually super close to the HD 800s in terms of soundstage and imaging.

Also the Amiron Wireless are also very enjoyable…although its AptX HD is now getting a bit dated as Apple is about to put out a new wide band wireless to pass LossLess Audio. I was so hopeful that the new 700 ProX was the pair....but I wonder if I'm ever going to find the same level of warmth and accuracy through and through without it being overbearing. Man the ATH M50X let me down....the search continues. (If anyone has any suggestions for a good competitor to the MDR-V6, please help.)

      As weird as it might sound, the best closed-back I've ever used was an Hyperx Cloud 2, they're based on the Takstar Pro 80 and are very comfortable to use the entire day while the sound is also very spot-on with all the music I listen (Classic Rock, Electronic, Indie). They're also very cheap so you can buy one pair to test and gift a friend if you dislike them.
      The velour pad makes it even more enjoyable, so if you buy the Hyperx Cloud Alpha (comes with removable cables) you might want also to buy the velour pad for it to make it even better.

      I have a pair of HD6xx's and I have the dt1990 pros, I also have the dt990's and I can tell you the main differences I find between Sennheiser's and BD's, is tonality, and sound stage, Sennheiser's, in my experience, sound a lot more intimate, close, and warm, like I could rest my head back and just listen. Beyerdynamic's are a lot brighter, colder higher frequencies shine here, which make them better for gaming and in my experience, better for movie watching as well. I will put it this way, it takes a certain degree of focus to appreciate the detail and sound stage that Beyerdynamic's present, but the detail is there, and it is amazing in certain applications, when I put the Sennheiser's on, I don't have to worry about anything that I am listening to, most music sound great with it, some video games can feel a little claustrophobic in comparison to BD's, but regardless, I think Sennheiser's are great for pretty much all listening experiences, that Beyerdynamic 10khz bump, can make certain listening unbearable, but they have their applications, and I cannot replace them for gaming and Sci-fi movie watching
