I was one of the Ohio Army National Guard Engineers that built that pier out parts of M4T6 float bridge and bailey bridge parts. That was in the 70s. My children fished it, my grandchildren fished, and my great grandchildren fished it. I'm glad you enjoyed it. That is why the State of Ohio had it built.
Nice little trip to Lake Erie. Surprised how many largemouth bass showed up but the action looked good. Nice to share with the crowd brother, building bridges.
Welcome to the North Coast! Always a mixed bag when fishing Erie. Surprised at no smallies or drum. That drag-burner might have been one though. Maybe a pier net might be in the future for there and the railway bridge. Nicely done!
If you're going to fish the pier at camp Perry get a beach cart! Im telling you ive fished that off and on since i was 6. Im 52 now and it's a bloody pain hauling stuff out there.
I went here last year but I was so nervous because there was military everywhere. I felt like I was trespassing or wasn't allowed to be there. Do you need a special pass or anything? I also didn't know where to park so I could go on the pier. I'm actually heading up to Port Clinton in a few days. Any advice you could give if I try to go there again?
If you park by the conference center and walk to the pier I don’t think anyone would mess with you. Even though it does say fishing access was reserved for guests at the rental houses, I think you would be OK. No one came and checked on any of us during our stay

Great video, getting ready to move to Cleveland next week, are the fish caught there safe to eat?
I imagine they would be. It’s Lake Erie so probably pretty safe.
What time of year is this?
