Just scratch the rock or soil nearby 15in and it takes 2 seconds to measure. Some guys like me mark their rod with tape or elastic Not judging just helping out. Nice catching. 👍
Looking to fish Erie for the first time this summer. Any suggestions on bait and spots for my son and I to hit from shore? Also why didn't you keep anything from this video?
This is Bolles harbor. Free and easily accessible. Luna pier is good spot too. Sterling state park has several spots. If you want walleye hit the blue rail pier.
Rattle traps and soft plastic minnows on 3/8 ounch jig heads, and yes you can verticals jig both, and also cast and retrieve the jig, if you cast an retrieve the rattle trap you'll get bass instead.
I’ve been fishing for at least 2 hours and haven’t caught anything in the last 3 days. Done every piece of advice for onshore fishing since I don’t have a boat. It’s really starting to annoy me since I feel like I have a really good idea on fish migration and places to go. Just no bites. I love fishing but what’s the point when no fish bite? Got at least 20 different jigs and colors too.
The Dollar Tree sells tape measures where you can lock the tape out for only $1. You don't have to spend $4-$5 for a good one and it looks like you could use that kind if you don't have one already.
Hello, can i know what size of this bait u're using ? i'm from Erie and i wanna give this bait a try but before i order it can u tell me what size are u using and how much does it weight ?
This question is about a different video of yours. Maybe you don’t want to share but if you are willing to, where did you net all those shad? I can’t find any around Macedonia ANYWHERE. If it makes a difference I’ll PayPal for the info :)
You might be thinking of a crankbait, or something. I should have shown it better in the video, but it does sink and quite quickly actually. I recommend them and I think the actual name is either rippin' rap or rattle trap.
Can someone in the comments let me know what kind of bait I should use in Lake Erie I am at the PA side of Lake Erie rn and don’t know what kind of baits I should use???
nightcrawlers works every time or you money back guaranteed! Minnows is a very close second or first depending on weather and how heavily fished the area is.

Anthony tenorio I'm from lorain . Where abouts is good to fish I've been fishing the river there hiting some nice fish but would like to catch some better fish on the lures
Never fished lake erie but I fish the reservoirs a couple hours south where I live. We have 5 here and i rarely catch more than one walleye a trip lol. We'll pull up 30 crappies a piece which is what I usually fish for.
AmericanFishDude I fish up by Huron lighthouse and I've never seen so many Walleye but you wouldn't believe the amount of massive Sheephead I catch up there.
oh yea for sure those things are everywhere! So much fun to catch too! I have caught and incredible amount of 4-8lbers and about four 9lb +. my largest last year was 10.7 lbs!
I don't understand why so many people talk shit about catching Sheephead. 90% of the fishing I do is catch and release so as long as I'm having fun, what does it matter? Not to mention that these guys, pound for pound are the hardest fighting fish up there in my opinion.
Exactly! and they say they are garbage to eat, which they do contain a lot of pollutants but I have eaten two smaller ones (14-17inch) and they were not that bad at all!
So frustrating, on the Ontario side of Lake Erie it seems all you catch is Drum/Sheephead. In this area Sheephead are considered a bad fish so no one keeps them. Everytime I caught one I would give them to Asians fishermen or toss them back.
Hey. I talked to the guy who manages that yacht club. He took some convincing but he agreed to a per month arrangement to use their breakwall. He said a few others do it as well. If you’re not one, message me I guess. I wouldn’t have known about the place without your vids so thanks a ton man. I’m pretty excited to get out there.
Starting at the 0:01 mark - TOTAL INCOMPETENCE......let's harvest walleye smaller than Lake Erie Perch.....if they aren't big enough throw them back dead or dieing......as you can see floating against the wall
I know everyone is wanting to keep this place secret. That’s understandable. I’m dying to find a place in/around Cleveland where I can get some real fish that isn’t heavily pressured. Message me privately and I will pay for the information. I don’t want to discuss amount publicly, but I’ll pay well.
AmericanFishDude I figured that from the last comment on the thread but knowing where this is at would help to know where to go looking for a public wall nearby. By the way, did they not offer you a membership like you’d asked for? It sounded like they might. I’ve been calling all the private clubs asking if they’ll take some money to let me fish their walls. No one yet but I’m still hoping.
if i only had a tape, i'd use one hand to both hold the fish down as well as one end of the tape, waiting for the fish to lie still probably isn't the most efficient measurement method.
Where is the Wall located? And dude how many fish are you missing by trying to measure a fish with a tape measure that doesn't work out very well you don't get a very accurate measurement either
the wall is a secret ;). it's usually just walleye that don't let me measure them but a yard stick or something would work a lot better than the tape measure.
Comments funny as hell I grew up I swear lol.
Scratch 2 marks in the rock 15” apart next time.
Painful trying to watch u measure that fish
B List ikr
B List the measurement fiasco was brutal
Hahaha, yes it was
The white perch poop I use as face paint
U just caught a bunch of little fish... what a waste. Asian fishing tactics...
We are so quick to judge how people do stuff. Two young guys out having a blast instead of glued to a screen. GJ guys.
Take a piece of tape and mark 15 inches on your rod. Then all you have to do is hold the fish up the mark on your rod. No extra equipment to carry.
7134silver great tip!
Did the same thing for walleye fishing the Maumee river
Rough water makes good fishing. It breaks up that direct sunlight. Dusk and dawn. Cool catches by the way.

Am moving to Ohio and am looking forward to walleye fishing nice vid👍
Legend has it he’s still trying to measure the walleye
Here's an idea invest in a bumper board and a extending net.
Steve Benson lol good idea
I got a net
Doing fairly good catching a verity of fish, harvest or not, looks like you are having a good time. Tight lines.
I would be wearing actual shoes...you killen me with the measurement LOL!
I was going to say how awfully hard it was to watch you measure that fish but everyone else already has. Enjoyed the video though 😁
Haha yeah I don't know why I didn't edit it out but oh well, glad you enjoyed.
Where is this place pl
is that a strike king rattle lure? it looks different from a regular rattle trap
Where is that spot
Mentor Harbour yacht club. Dont know why people hide walleye spots as if there aren't (literally) 100 million of them in the lake.
Hawg Tied thanks
Hey man where do you park when you fish here and what is the exact location ?
Its the mentor harbour yachting club.

Rattle traps and soft plastic minnows on 3/8 ounch jig heads, and yes you can verticals jig both, and also cast and retrieve the jig, if you cast an retrieve the rattle trap you'll get bass instead.

the rattletrap? im not really sure maybe 1/2 -3/4oz, somewhere around there i believe!
Yikes that was hard to watch. If it's even a question why keep the fish out of the water that long?
Like you have never made the same mistake??
No I haven't ever spent 10 minutes trying to measure a fish at all, let alone a highly questionable one

I'm going to lake Erie soon do you have any tips for walley?
From shore or a boat?
@the unlucky fisherman i actually went a few weeks ago and only caught yellow perch but i went from a little pier it was called whiskey island
How are u jigging on the bottom with a rattle trap I don't see any weight added
the rattle trap weights a lot, like 1/2 - 1oz so it is easy once you get the hang of it. Just practice!
AmericanFishDude I only seen them float man never seen one sink
You might be thinking of a crankbait, or something. I should have shown it better in the video, but it does sink and quite quickly actually. I recommend them and I think the actual name is either rippin' rap or rattle trap.
rattle traps fall in the lip less crank bait category, and all the lures like it I have seen and used sink, a blade bait will work too.
Mark on your fishing pole..15 inches...Then you won't have to fool with the tape measure 😮
Where is the wall at where u was fishing
Drum go in garden and all bottom feeders.also.!!!!
Nice job!

Put a 15" mark on your pole.
I caught like a 20 incher and i threw it back rip
