Being a 16 year old teen wanting to become a doctor, this is definitely my escape from reality! Thank you for the such interesting videos! It makes my day and make me think about it all day.
I flashed a big smile when you said you were having dinner with your parents and then when you actually showed your parents. I love how you talk to your staff and show great leadership without being a dictator lol. We all know the type
Everytime you say "second year" it makes me so happy because I've been following you since your first day/first video ❤ I'm in my second year of medical school and you're one of my biggest inspirations!
I give such respect for drs, I couldn’t imagine remembering so much of this medical knowledge you have to learn. I just wish all drs were as nice like you are ☺️
I love your videos they are so inspiring I'm decided to go to nursing school at 54 thanks to watching your videos I've been patient care technician for 15 years now..
Your videos are the best videos I’ve ever seen. I love the way that you are so kind to everybody. Even though I’m only 13-year-old girl I would love to become a doctor one day. Love the vlogs keep them up. You inspire me every day
Siobhan, can you explain a little bit about why med students and residents pull such long shifts? Here in the US there's been a push to reduce the number of hours medical personnel can work, out of concern for things like fatigue leading to medical errors. (Maybe this is my own biases talking, but I assume it's not as bad in Canada, just because I view you all as more...civilized than Americans.) At this point a lot of the argument we hear from medical educators is "Well, this is how it was done when I was in school and I survived, so you can do it, too." What are your thoughts on the subject?
I have my first shift at a new job which is at a group home for disabled people tonight and I'm sooo nervous!! It's the first time being all by myself talking care of 6 patients which all have very different needs.. your videos inspire me so much, thank you!!
I can’t wait to see her become an attending and then a fellow. I can’t wait to see what her future has in store for you! You have such an upbeat and amazing personality
These videos are my Grey's Anatomy!! Every minute interests me! Don't know if this is a possibility but could you film a video on your workout routine?
I love how these vlogs are real life and Greys is a good show but I love how this show what it is like for real doctors and how different it is from a medical show to real life.
Falling asleep with the light on and a textbook in your hand. I couldn't understand you any more. A typical study night for so many of us university students.
Violin MD aw your kindess and modesty are so heart warming. thank you for investing the time in editing these and replying to all these comments although how busy your life is. keep on going, Doctor, you will definitely make it far ❤ you got our backs on this journey for sure 😊
Love these! I’ve spent so much time in the hospital receiving cancer treatments- on the pediatric floor!! It’s cool to see everything from a doctor point of view!
sorry to hear you have spent so much time as a patient in hospital - I hope that means you are finished with treatment, or at least spending more time at home now! really glad to hear you are enjoying the videos :)
Violin MD oh thank you!! I’m spending a lot more time at home. I had a bone marrow transplant and then severe GVHD so I was in the hospital for a very long time! Here’s to hoping I’m forever cancer free :)
Rachel GVHD sucks but is not necessarily a bad thing. It means you new bone marrow does a good job! My best friend daughter went trough hell 7 years ago with this and is as of now as healthy as she could be! 😊 All fingers crossed for a cancer free life!
Siobhan, I'm amazed at how you keep up your energy level. I'm sure part of that is because you take care of yourself, and I'm sure another reason is that you love and believe in what you do. Thank you for sharing this week of your life with us!
Thanks Randy! yes i made a huge effort to flip my schedule and actually get sleep and take care of myself this week. It definitely made a big difference!
I found your channel while at work yesterday and binge watched every video! Your videos are pretty enlightening into hospital life! Can't wait for more!
I went to school/lived around where you are doing your residency! Now an ER nurse in Ottawa, ON. Makes it that much more interesting to watch you though when it all feels close to home,
Ahh I’m obsessed with ur Chanel, u have this way of looking st things in such a positive way and u always seem so happy and ur videos r so interesting. Pls post more I love your channel soo much!!
I’m barley gonna start going to college this fall, and I’m studying to become a PA. Seeing your videos has gotten me excited and motivated to try my best and become some one successful in the medical field. ☺️❤️
I don’t know if you already have a video, I did try looking. But if not, you should make a video explain how you get into medical school, how long it takes, how much it costs. Then talk about what made you want to become a doctor, what’s been some challenges and tips to give to people wanting to become doctors. You’re working in my hometown, I also am in the medical field as well, and work for the same corporation you’re doing your residency for. Currently on mat leave with my little guy! Thank you for all your great work, love your videos.
Recently started to watch your videos. I’m a nursing major and just love seeing things from a medical student point of view!! You’re so positive and motivating! Anyone would be lucky to have you as their doctor!!
Great job Doc Had central line had ruptured appendics surgery, developed sepsis and had central line put in 2 week stay at sturgeon hospital in St albert Alberta. Docs saved my life.
I want to be a doctor when I get older, and your videos inspire me even more! You are one of the only channels that I have discovered that shows what the hospital is like behind the scenes! Love your videos!
Love your videos! It makes me understand why things are the way they are in the hospital when we need help. This is so helpful to understand that we are not just laying in the hospital feeling like we are gonna die and wondering where the Dr is.
i LOVE your videos!!! so cool and nice to see a volg style MD work day like this!! especially with the consults and mystery cases its so interesting!!! coming from a health science major and major love and interest from the medical field love love the vidsss
Omg I can’t explain how much I love your channel and YOU! Just subscribed and can’t wait to see more! So interesting to be apart of your everyday work!
I’ve never looked you so drained before! You always look so energetic and happy, kind of a refreshing change even though your energy is amazing of course
Great video! Every Saturday I look for a new video from Violin MD and it always makes my day! I love the intro too, I also play violin and have played for around 11 years!
Keep it up Shioban! I hope you get to do fun things outside of work, too! I’ve shifted jobs as a nurse every year now and it’s difficult not having family around and not getting real relationships going anywhere really. But the fun side is discovering new places, work cultures and getting new friends all over again!
At my high school there is an allied health program where at the end of my years I will be a cna. I am really debating it. But watching your videos gives me another understanding of the life of a doctor.
It’s so great to see you again!! I love your videos! There are other people who are trying to do what you do, but they just don’t come close. You manage to really give us a sense of what you do without compromising patient safety or confidentiality. Thanks for another great video! Can’t wait till next week!
I’ve been watching your videos recently because my sister is a surgeon and I’ve always been interested at how everything goes (aside from seeing it in grey’s anatomy). Can’t wait for more videos
McMaster should be thankful to you. If I were a physician in Canada, I would definitely put this great hospital on top of my list for residency. BTW, awesome video as always :)
Love your videos so much, they really help me understand, from an inside-perspective, what it's like to be a doctor and the true fun (and sometimes hard parts) of being one!
Saturdays are simple - porridge, volunteering, running and waiting for the notification from this channel. I was never a night owl with studying, pass on that.
I've been thinking about something since I started watching your vlogs not long ago. I would love to get some handy tips for everyday people - how to perform CPR, what do do if you find someone with low blood sugar/seizure/whatever condition on the street (except calling to get an ambulance there to take them to you in the hospital asap, of course).
I just paused your video and headed over to google to learn all about Hyponatremia. Came back and finished the video. I love when you give us opportunities to learn! Thank you❤️
Thank you for making videos. You show what it is like to be a medical resident. I am thinking about going into med school and you show in your videos that it is worth it to become a doctor. Thank you again.
I just came out of a 12h night shift for EMS, completly know how you feel, especially when there is a lot of work to do and you don't get enough sleep during your shift
Ive recently subscribed and I honestly love your channel!!!!! It's amazing and im so happy I get to see how it's like from a residents point of view 😊💞!!!!
As a student nurse, I found night shifts so much better than day shifts in a HASU (hyper acute stroke unit), mainly because my mentor and I are down in A&E from the start of the shift till about 2300 usually, and then the rest of the night is calm as we only have two or three patients, who are always stable, independent and self caring patients.
So glad I found your channel! Literally watch your videos before bed, and you’ve got such a bubbly personality and the prettiest smile. Please keep being an inspiration to everyone and stay you 💓💓
I really love your videos. It’s great to see behind the scenes how doctors work together, especially the residents. I find it hard to keep a good schedule and you seem to do an awesome job of it. Great channel and I hope you keep it up as you are able! PS: Your mom could be your sister! She looks so young!
Walking home post night??? I could never do that... i usually sleep the whole day and evening before night shift... can’t believe u went to the gym that’s amazing

I am guests because they are all under staffed
Ashleigh Watson if you want to see understaffed and no beds or space come to any hospital in Ireland.
It feels good knowing that there are doctors like you that are such kind hearted individuals and sooooo intelligent! Keep up the great work!
I have my first shift at a new job which is at a group home for disabled people tonight and I'm sooo nervous!! It's the first time being all by myself talking care of 6 patients which all have very different needs.. your videos inspire me so much, thank you!!
