I'm looking forward to your full review. I just received two of these just before Christmas. They are a definite upgrade from what I had. Much deeper bass. I've located them in the front corners of the room which is great for aesthetics but they are a little boomy at times. I'm probably going to have to play with the location to improve that. The other thing I still lack to some degree is the 'kick in the chest' aspect that I have felt in a friends home theater. I feel like these should be able to give me that but haven't found the magic setup yet. Thanks for your great reviews. Again, I look forward to your full review of these subs.
My sub is a DIY ported 12" 500watt box from Parts-Express. It was fun to look up data on driver size and excursion vs cabinet size, as well as effects of lengths of ports. The custom sub integrates really well with my setup (both sound and having a cherry wood finish instead of just the black that regular brands have). My living area isn't that big, so 1 12" seems plenty (my front towers are considered pretty good for large full range, so I also ran calcs to be sure the subwoofer could go below 20hz...it does shake glasses on my kegorator with deep-bass scenes). Being cherry finish, it also blends in with my contemporary furniture (important for SO factor). I did think it funny that when I first ran the Audyssey setup, it said to move the sub's volume to half-way. I knew that was going to be too much, and sure enough, after manually dialing the test tone to 75DB, the volume is more like 1/4.
Sorry to hear you were sick Youthman. Glad you’re getting better and you did great on this video. I have Dual PB16 Ultras and loveee them. Quite scary actually lol. I was watching the the latest Jurassic World last night and oh boy did my PB16 Ultras scare the lights out of me.
Youthman great video! The best unboxing video to date on UA-cam . I just purchased one for my Wife's system . It's probably the best 15" sub woofer buy on the market .
Hello Youthman , Love your show. I recently purchased a pair of polk pws 505's used , they make a significant difference . I own Klipsch and polk speakers . I will look at SVS PRO 1000 and Klipsch R 115SW .
I've done the DIY route with 15in Dayton drivers, 18in Aurasound drivers. The later was a clone of the Monster Godfather subs that I really liked. Got a bug to go commercial once I got new mains and went with Power Sound Audio S3000i. With a miniDSP it is flat to 10hz in room. Love the sound of a good sealed sub with headroom.
I was seriously considering a pair of these before going the diy route, but I read so many reviews saying the amp had died, so basically the high failure rate scared me away from buying any newer Klipsch powered subwoofer, that and the 400 watts seems very weak compared to many other 15s on the market. I believe Klipsch has fixed the amp failing issue that plagued the early production 115s and 112s...that might be worth looking into and mentioning in your next video on these.
Youthman Oh really, why would they send them to you to review if they’re being discontinued? It will be interesting to see what they come out with next, hopefully something more powerful to compete with some of the other brands.
They were going to send me an R-115SW many many months ago. But for whatever reason, it took them quite a while to send them to me. They reached out to me at the end of last year and asked if I would be interested in reviewing an entire 7.2.4 system. So that’s when they sent them but even then, one of them was damaged in shipment so they had to wait to get a new one to send to me
I run that exact setup, 2 Klipsch r-115sw & love mine, lots of output & lows for days, I use to run a single velodyne 15 which was also great but I do love the Klipsch 15s I'm going to build my own subwoofer setup at the end of the year, probably do a 6th order using 4 x 18s
I have two of these r115sw and also to the ultra 16 and they work together pretty great it's all about the way you set it up and my room sounds amazing with all four subwoofers no complaints here another great video👍
They are a thing of beauty for sure. I am currently running 2 r-10sw subs in the center back of my room stacked. A svs pb-2000 front left and a old new stock 2010 sw-112 on the right. Both front subs are totally different from each other but come together very nicely. I have pondered adding a 115 in the mix though for sure. Still undecided. Hope your voice gets straightened out my friend. Good video

Currently rocking an old Velodyne sub, with a jbl woofer that I swapped in because the other one suffered foam rot. But no worries! It gets the job done and one of them was free 😂
I've got one of these. Paid $500 for it new at Frys on sale. For that price, I don't think it can be beat. I've had no problems with it yet after about 8 months.
What's up Youthman! I love your hometheater setup! Did you design it? Is there any chance that we will be able to see your pre-construction plans with an explanation as to why you made the decisions that you did, or is there a video already explaining it?
For a 22 x 25 feet room . Dual klipsch r 115 or dual pb 4000 . Sometimes i think. Was it not better to buy a second klipsch sub 🤔the svs is a great sub . But yes cost alot 😁
2) SPL-12. ALL the sub I need. trick is to place them opposite of each other and placed the rear one in 180 degrees for a better ATMOS low end blend on rear surrounds. I have my setup set for two presets 1) for 7.2.4 for Theater Mode and 2) for 5.1 for Music ONLY. All on Emotiva Heads/Pre/Amps
thought about going with two of these but end up getting two Rythmik FVX15 subs. Very happy with my decision. They are great quality and sound fantastic....deep and powerful for the price.
Great choice Klipsch makes good speakers but there subwoofers always disappoint don’t know why it’s not that hard to make a good subwoofer SVS Rythmik JL Audio even the Monoprice Monolith do, you would think they would have figured it out by now but it doesn’t look like they ever will.
For metal music in a very large room would you recommend 2 12.s or 2 15.s I like that the 12.s are smaller. Or my wife does rather lol but worry 12.s won't be enough. 16x25x9 room open to big kitchen
I have one of them, in a very small room. I tried corner, which I didn't like, because I could hear the location. I tried center front, which was great, but missed my leg space, now it's right behind me, not better than center front, but the bass omni-direction and with movies you feel it better.
Hi my brother, how are you? I have two sub of 15 inch klipsch so the question is I have to put the cable in the same thing L LFE both side left and right of the subwoofer or what they have to do. Thank you so much.
Youthman I actually haven’t run any rew, I do have a calibrated mic on order. But other than that only the Pioneer run room correction. I’ve tried to balance by ear but I can’t dial it in exactly to run both. I usually just run my Klipsch only with music and run both with movies.
Notice that the gain control on the back of the unit goes to "11". The guys at Klipsch have a sense of humor. They've seen the movie "This is Spinal Tap"!!
Nice I have two of these as well. They’re so big I had to put them in the back of the room behind my couch Because there is no room up front. But I love them.
really luking fwd to ur view on this. I own a R115sw in my small room & it needs very little power to come to life frm ny av rcvr, compared to my old svs/xtz subs. Before I had my SVS PB 13 Ultra's I had 2 Klipsch SW115's. They truly sucked!!! After 4 months the back plate started to rattle. The sub was replaced with a new one. Then the other sub started to rattle?! The back plate again?! I got rid of those things and bought my 2 SVS subs and never looked back!!! A lot of people love Klipsch, but I have no love for them at all!!! I see in the corner you have that Klipsch THX Ultra 2 sub with the amp?! I almost bought those and the amps, but after I had the problems with the Klipsch subs? I just wanted to forget about Klipsch.
Klipsch hasn’t made a lot of “awesome” subs. I feel the RSW-15 are fantastic as long as you don’t need sub 20Hz. I’ve heard great things about the R-115SW. Haven’t heard much at all about the SW115’s.
@@Youthman You didn't miss anything. That's why you didn't hear about them. Klipsch phased them out real quick and replaced them with the sub you're testing now. Here in Europe I checked forums to see if others were having the same problem? Everyone was having the same problem with the back plate! Klipsch did a terrible job with the SW115's!
I think just about every manufacture produces some lemons from time to time. I’ve heard a lot of people were having issues with amp failures on some of the SVS sub offers. Don’t remember which model
I would be interested in your view and perceptions of a pair of M&K Sound X12 subwoofers. During a period between the mid-90s until they closed in the early 2000s M&K Sound was the King of Subwoofer brands. The majority of major films were mixed using M&K subs and loudspeaker systems.
Thanks for your reply, @@Youthman; perhaps you will make contact with them in the near future. I have been using their subs since 1993. I own three MX70 and one MX70B dual 8-inch mini-monsters. Purchased the first pair of MX70s when I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, then another when I lived in San Diego County and finally found the MX70B after I relocated to The Valley of The Sun.
Those subwoofers look exactly like my 2 subs! 😎 Albiet they are not the SVS PB16 or the PSA S3611, these 2 subs tend to tick off the neighbors, and quite a bit I might add! lol I think these R-115SW's sound fantastic! JMO... KEEPERS OF THE SOUND!

I love your vids and was hoping you can assist with a question. I'm building a home theater for my new home and have purchased RF7 III's, RC 64C III, RP 600M, RP 402s, 4 5800 CII's and 1 Klipsch R-115SW Subwoofer. All my speakers are still in boxes so I haven't even tested them yet :) :) My question is in regards to the subwoofer. I see a lot of great reviews on the SVS PB 16 ultra and I wanted to know if I should continue to save and buy the SVS 16 ultra or spend my money on other aspects of my home theater and just get a second Klipsch R-115SW? From watching your vids, I know you used to have 4 Klipsch RSW15's and now own SVS PB 16 ultra's. I figured who better to ask :)
Thank you for the kind words. The PB16 is a very nice sub. Also take a look at Power Sound Audio. The S3611 is a beast with dual 18’s. Cost less but no bells and whistles (app, built in DSP, and nicer finish). Just depends on what you are looking for. My advice is to always invest in a great sub and center channel as they provide the most impact.
I’m putting together a complete Klipsch stereo system with the floor speaker towers, 15” Subs and Centrals . 👍👍Do you think the system will sound great. I’ll be pushing them with the Yamaha R-N803 receiver.
There are plenty of other better subs in that price range but I really wanted one of these to keep with the copper driver look of my other speakers. However, as of this week it looks like Klipsch has already discontinued them with no other 15" sub to replace them except their "SPL" model for more money. Damn.
Looking forward to your test on these ones. Haven't heard them myself but from what I understand, they are a great bang for the buck. They may not keep up with your PB 16's but for the money they should preform well. I think it was home theatre magazine that got spl,s similar to the SB 16's down to about 20hz. Won't have the cool app or quite the adjustability but hoping it has a good showing. From what I understand they have a tight sound for a vented sub which should be good for music.. I'm thinking they may be a good match for my Chorus ii's....
I'm running two these, plus an R-112SW in my theater/game room in the basement and couldn't be more pleased with them.

The other thing I still lack to some degree is the 'kick in the chest' aspect that I have felt in a friends home theater. I feel like these should be able to give me that but haven't found the magic setup yet.
Thanks for your great reviews. Again, I look forward to your full review of these subs.
Thank you David
Thank you Charles. I appreciate the kind words.
Finally! I have been waiting for this forever! 😄
Soooo sorry it’s taken me so long. Lots going on with new job / career and lots of gear in for review
No matter the sound, klipsch cones look so good
I love my dual 115's, they've been doing a great job for me the last few years. Can't wait to hear what you think of them...
Thanks!
Hello Youthman , Love your show. I recently purchased a pair of polk pws 505's used , they make a significant difference . I own Klipsch and polk speakers . I will look at SVS PRO 1000 and Klipsch R 115SW .
Great!!! Finally I can know your opinion about these subs 🤩
It’s coming
Love these subs. But, have to stick with my R-12Sw's I have, for financial reasons lol. Thanks for the unboxing , beautiful subs.
Two emf 15’s 4 cubes each crown xti 2000 @2 ohms 1000 watts each sounds amazing!!!
Sounds like it would! Very cool Elite
Using this for my computer speaker setup paired with The Sixes.
Looks like they are discontinuing them
Youthman Oh really, why would they send them to you to review if they’re being discontinued? It will be interesting to see what they come out with next, hopefully something more powerful to compete with some of the other brands.
They were going to send me an R-115SW many many months ago. But for whatever reason, it took them quite a while to send them to me. They reached out to me at the end of last year and asked if I would be interested in reviewing an entire 7.2.4 system. So that’s when they sent them but even then, one of them was damaged in shipment so they had to wait to get a new one to send to me
Black n copper monsters unboxed 🔥🔥
I run that exact setup, 2 Klipsch r-115sw & love mine, lots of output & lows for days, I use to run a single velodyne 15 which was also great but I do love the Klipsch 15s
I'm going to build my own subwoofer setup at the end of the year, probably do a 6th order using 4 x 18s
Good video
Thanks! My voice is getting better by the day.
Youthman you should do the spl 150 klipsch. Wonder what you think.
Should be very similar to the R-115SW
I've had a pair for a couple years and they sound awesome!!
Very cool. What are you running now?
@@Youthman I'm running a 7.2.4 full Klipsch system!
2 -r115 subs, reference rp280f right and left, rp450c center, rp250s surrounds(4) and cdt-5800 ceiling speakers (4) !!!!
I use the Denon 4200x receiver to power it all. I have had a Sony 55es front projector for the last 3yrs. The picture still looks great! I'm in a wheelchair and home theater is the one thing I truly enjoy. I love the Klipsch setup and maybe someday I can afford a 4k laser projector? I heard Optoma will be introducing a series of laser ones this year between $3,000-$5,000.
You've done a magnificent job on your system! I wish I could afford some decent recliners that aren't so expensive...
My name is Nick, by the way, and I love the IMAX look you've given to your theater.
Sub is Single Klipsch RS-12SW. Fronts are RP-280F's, Center is RP-25c, Rear Atmos is RP-41SA's, Side Surround is Klipsch R-14S
Wondering if you’ll do the new monolith subwoofers for a review :). I currently have a mix of monolith, svs and psa lol
I have the R 112SW in my livingroom and I love the deep base. I have one sub now but i want to buy a second one. 😉
Keep up your great reviews! 👍🏻
I don't have subs (or my home set up) just yet, but man, your set up looks awesome. Looking to build a room/cinema when I move house this year. You're right about the look of that copper cone. Looks fab. Keep up the great videos.
Great review! You told me everything I needed to know about these subs. You could clearly see the scale of them as well. They look amazing. I use 2 small Yamaha subs in my theater and I would like to change them for these now. Glad their available through Amazon.
Great idea to open the boxes, cut the bottom and flip it over! No longer will I struggle trying to pull the item out the top of a box lol!
Glad the video was beneficial Stew. Thanks for watching!
I love my Klipsch R 115SW, they are awesome! My neighbours hate me btw 😬I guess somebody will have me killed, when I get the second one 😇
Haha and they will take your subs
@@Youthman Haha! Remember that the subs need to break in to sound great. Btw, you should get Evil dead (2013)on bluray. This movie has amazing audio and insane bass." Audio Review: 5/5 The sadistic and depraved horror remake also finds its way to Blu-ray with a highly-entertaining, reference-quality DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack that will even your neighbors screaming bloody murder. The design is chockfull of all sorts of warped sounds that will have your stomach churning. From nails piercing skin and blood splattering across the floor to the detailed sound of flesh being ripped apart by a piece of glass, the mid-range is extensive and precise with splendid acoustical details. The low-end is robust and high-responsive, adding depth and a powerful oomph to the many jump scares. Imaging is broad and engaging with excellent, well-balanced channel separation and outstanding vocals which are never drowned out by the rest of the gruesome mayhem.
The bedlam continues with an enthralling and continuously active soundscape that saturates the room with a nightmarish atmosphere. Rain comes pouring down all around in large droplets; flies buzz with frenzied excitement above and behind; sinister laughs are heard in the distance from the cellar or in another room; the haunting creaks of wood echo throughout; and the scraping sound of a crowbar dragged across the floor moves from the back to the front with stunning ease. Directionality and panning are flawless and discrete, generating a nerve-wracking environment of dreadfulness. The lossless mix is impressive and terrifyingly immersive, one that raises goose bumps and will have you jumping off your seat. Crank it loud and strap yourself to the chair because this is a fun ride." (bluray.highdefdigest.com/9329/evil_dead_2013.html)
Thank The Good Lord i live out of town. I can take full advantage of my system
I've added the second one that pissed off wife who thinks I'm way overboard with incredible sound. BTW, she said her Alexa suits just fine? Say that again?
@@davidahrens7601 Haha, you show her who´s the boss ;-) When it comes to speakers, its never enough ;-) Enjoy shaking up your home and pissing off your wife! I smell a divorce in the future!
I am using 2 Klipsch R12SW And i love the bass from these
Very cool David
12" Acoustech PL-200 Platinum Horn Series, not too shabby... I'm really happy with my subs.
R115 is one. Of. The. Best sub. With very deep bass
Youth!! My G, I have 2 of these in my living room as we speak. I love em! Tons of low end! Best bang for the $$. I scored both of mine for $1000-1100. Can’t wait to see what you think.
Sweet deal!
Beautiful design have that subwoofer
Currently rocking an old Velodyne sub, with a jbl woofer that I swapped in because the other one suffered foam rot. But no worries! It gets the job done and one of them was free 😂
Free is always good
I've got one of these. Paid $500 for it new at Frys on sale. For that price, I don't think it can be beat. I've had no problems with it yet after about 8 months.
I've got it paired with a R-12SW. They seem to mesh well.
Yes! A review on those! Thank you!
Review will come later after I have spent some time with them. This was just an overview.
I have one R115SW and it rocks... Would love to add a second. Great video!
Thanks. Once I went duals, I’ve never gone back to a single
Great video review!!!
Thank you Youthman!!!
Thanks David. The review is to come after I’ve actually spent some time hearing it. This was an Unboxing / Overview
Great unboxing. I am running dual monolith thx 10 inch subs, they are amazing!
Really waiting for your review of these R-115SW's..i have one and im really pleased with it..
thought about going with two of these but end up getting two Rythmik FVX15 subs.
I’ve heard good things about Rythmik
Hi youthman, now am using two different subwoofer Atlantic 642e sealed and Jamo 300 ported. Planning to switch to SVS PB 2000 dual.
For metal music in a very large room would you recommend 2 12.s or 2 15.s I like that the 12.s are smaller. Or my wife does rather lol but worry 12.s won't be enough. 16x25x9 room open to big kitchen
Once I went with 15’s it’s hard to go back to anything smaller. Now I’m using (4) 18’s lol
Great Video once again Youthman, I love your style! I’m running a r-115 and a mini Marty with an 18ultimax. Love my Klipsch for music and movies!
Thanks Eric. Looks like you have the low end covered. With different brands and size drivers, have you found it difficult to blend them together?
Youthman I actually haven’t run any rew, I do have a calibrated mic on order. But other than that only the Pioneer run room correction. I’ve tried to balance by ear but I can’t dial it in exactly to run both. I usually just run my Klipsch only with music and run both with movies.
Gotcha. I’m fairly new to REW myself
those klipsch look great.....im running one wharfedale 15 inch for now ..i will be ordering another one
New to the channel super nice set up . I'm just about 2 years into my 7.4.2 home theater it has baby speakers ...... but there growing up so fast 😀
Awesome! Welcome to the channel Mc Nobody.
Notice that the gain control on the back of the unit goes to "11". The guys at Klipsch have a sense of humor. They've seen the movie "This is Spinal Tap"!!
😀
Nice I have two of these as well. They’re so big I had to put them in the back of the room behind my couch Because there is no room up front. But I love them.
Awesome! How do you like them?
Youthman I love them.
Most people that own them seem to enjoy them. Looking forward to reviewing them.
Did you test them yet? How are they compared to the SVS SB16Ultra and PB16Ultra you had? Also how are the compared to the PSA S3611 sub?
really luking fwd to ur view on this. I own a R115sw in my small room & it needs very little power to come to life frm ny av rcvr, compared to my old svs/xtz subs. I heard its demo in a 23 feet room & even though being a modest 400w rms they still filled the room very well. Am sure duals in ur room will rock, luking fwd for final review.
Thanks
Hello sir
I need an advice I’m going to upgrade my av
Should I go for the...
Emotiva RMC-1 or
Marantz 8805
Thank you
I haven’t heard the 8805 yet but based on my experience with the 7705, my vote would be the 8805.
I just listed my SR8012 and will either be upgrading to the 7705 or 8805.
If you do end up buying either one of them and are able to use the links in the description of my videos, I would be appreciative.
I watch all your videos and I like all of them
I know you recently make a video reviewing the emotiva RMC-1 and I don’t think it was a good review it has a lot of issues ,, but right now emotiva have a deal or trade in things so I was think to try it but since you are the expert I think I’m going to go with the Marantz 8805
This what I have currently
Klipsch rf-7iii
64iii center
6 160m bookshelf
Pioneer elite lx 701
Emotiva xpa-5 gen 3
Emotiva xpa 7 gen 3
SPL-150 dual
Oppo 103
Panamax m5300
85 inch song tv
Harmony elite control
Those look fantastic! I love the orange cones on Klipsch, favorite color... Great overview Youthman, looking forward to some play time and your thoughts
Thanks! Ok...for the record...they are copper, not orange 😂😂😂
@@Youthman I stand corrected... very true. But I'll still consider them "burnt" orange 😉😂
Just bustin your chops. I was recently corrected when I described the Reference Premiere as having Gold trim rings instead of copper trim rings
Oh yea I know, I would expect nothing less! 😉
Great video. Would you be willing to share what settings you used for phase, Low-Pass and Gain when both subs were hooked up? Thanks!
Gain was likely around 50%, phase zero and crossover all the way up with crossovers in the receiver set to around 80Hz
Agree, one can do better for the price.
@@Youthman Yeah,I think I heard something about that too? I've had my PB 13 Ultra's for 3 years now and I've never had an issue.
All of my other speakers in my theater are Klipsch reference series except for the surrounds which are from the synergy line.
I would be interested in your view and perceptions of a pair of M&K Sound X12 subwoofers. During a period between the mid-90s until they closed in the early 2000s M&K Sound was the King of Subwoofer brands. The majority of major films were mixed using M&K subs and loudspeaker systems.
I have not heard any from M&K
Thanks for your reply, @@Youthman; perhaps you will make contact with them in the near future. I have been using their subs since 1993. I own three MX70 and one MX70B dual 8-inch mini-monsters. Purchased the first pair of MX70s when I lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, then another when I lived in San Diego County and finally found the MX70B after I relocated to The Valley of The Sun.
Those subwoofers look exactly like my 2 subs! 😎
Albiet they are not the SVS PB16 or the PSA S3611, these 2 subs tend to tick off the neighbors, and quite a bit I might add! lol
I think these R-115SW's sound fantastic! JMO...
KEEPERS OF THE SOUND!
Awesome Michael
I am running 2 of these subs with a pair of RF-82IIs towers and a RC-62II center My Atmos are ceiling mounted energy speakers and my rears are RB-61IIs. Pushed by a Onkyo RZ820. Pretty awesome subs IMO
Awesome setup Michael!
What’s better? 1 SPL 15” klipsch sub or 2 12” klipsch subs
What’s the difference between the Klipsch R-115sw Subwoofer and the SP-150?
I just bought the younger brother R-112SW and Denon AVR-X3500H, because of space. Ohh does it hit low. I can't imagine what big brother sounds like.
I live in the Netherlands so I think they still will be there to buy.
You don't mean that klipsch has stopped with the R 115 SW!!!!
My understanding is they have discontinued them
Happy with my Dual SVS PB-16 ULTRA's
Whats the mean problem with klipsch subwoofers ? I see many people have problem with amps ? Now I have yamaha sw300 and think to replace it with Klipsch R-115SW what do you think ?
Nice set up man.
Thank you
Hey Youthman what's up?
It has been a while now since you're tried these big boys, what are your impressions??? 🤔
@@Youthman Thanks for your reply. I'll check out the S3611.
I’m putting together a complete Klipsch stereo system with the floor speaker towers, 15” Subs and Centrals . 👍👍Do you think the system will sound great. I’ll be pushing them with the Yamaha R-N803 receiver.
Which models are you looking at? I was very impressed with the Reference Premiere series as they offer excellent sound and a great value.
There are plenty of other better subs in that price range but I really wanted one of these to keep with the copper driver look of my other speakers. However, as of this week it looks like Klipsch has already discontinued them with no other 15" sub to replace them except their "SPL" model for more money. Damn.
There are currently 16 left on Amazon. If you do decide to buy one, I would be grateful if you use my affiliate link in the description of the video.
Im thinking the same thoughts as you are. Will see after I’m able to spend some time with them
perphas u may try Procella Audio V21 (dual 21inch subwoofers in a box)
hi nice video, today arrived me this subwoofer, but i have a question, what is the Recommended Crossover Frequency in the subwoofer and the reciever?
I set my sub dial to 120Hz and 80Hz in the Receiver.
thanks! the sound and the power of this subwoofer is amazing, was a great buy!
Still running two RW-12d’s. Had to replace one plate amp a few years ago however. Dreaded Klipsch amps and their issues...
I believe they had some issues with the Bash amps. I don’t believe the R-115SW is a Bash amp
Hi sir klipsch thx ultra2 is it combind set? or individual speakers
They look so good!!
I agree
How is the klipsch subs compared too the svs pb16's?
Stig-Øyvind that’s what I’m wondering
i had one of these.. but idk if is the accoustics of my place or what i was but they didnt feel like they were loud..
