A friend of mine, bought a used Ford Escort 1.3 Ghia ...looks very similar
Nice special edition of the Escort. We didn't get any special editions called Firefly here, but with those body coloured mirror housings, reminded me from Escort and Orion Laser trim level here around that same time period. I seem to recall it had maybe white hubcaps, different design to Ghia hubcaps.
Very attractive model. As you say, it is close to the Ghia, but more sporty.
Yay! I actually got this on Saturday night here in Cagayan de Oro City Mindanao Philippines again! Of course, these were never sold in Australia back in 1988. It certainly would have been worthwhile considering because it was pretty much Ghia spec without the Ghia badges, and I'm guessing a cheaper price. Red means it goes faster ha ha ha!
A nice limited edition for what you get. Pretty much a Ghia like you say, i do like this colour, it makes it look a bit more sporty than the standard Ghia especially with the colour coded door mirrors. I wonder why they didnt do the Orion Firefly? I would have liked to have seen that.
I wasn't aware there was an Escort Firefly. I do however recall right towards the end of the Mk4 production there was the Escort Eclipse. My teacher had one of these, and thought it was quite a nice special edition. Again it looks like the Firefly would of been also very attractive over a Ghia.
Great channel this brings back some great memories,
Thank you
Worked in a dealership at the time can remember the fiesta but not the escort, both were based on the Ghia models, most cars in the brochures were Essex registered being Ford is based in Essex and some in the pictures were management roll cars, this one in this brochure is unusual for not having a Essex reg number
Aw that’s interesting- someone did mention it could be a made up plate as no records shown for that plate.
False plate I think, no MOT record.
Could well be a made up plate
