- THE SECRET to Perfect French Crepes is mixing all the ingredients correctly!
Hey, friends! Today, I'm sharing the perfect French crepe recipe that's an absolute must-try. In a bowl, combine 8 ounces (230 grams) of all-purpose flour with 3 tablespoons of sugar, a pinch of salt, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Make a well in the flour and crack 3 eggs into it - whisk gently. Gradually add 17 fluid ounces (500 ml) of warm milk while whisking until it forms a smooth, thick batter. Remember, reserve some milk for later! Melt 1.5 ounces (50 grams) of butter and add it to the batter along with 1/4 teaspoon of vanillin and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice for that extra kick. If you don't have vanillin, 2 teaspoons of liquid vanilla extract work just as well. Once mixed, pour in the remaining milk and whisk till smooth. Heat a non-stick or ceramic-coated pan over high heat, add a thin layer of batter, and cook until golden brown on both sides. Don't pour too much batter! These turn out thin and flawless. Top them off with anything you like - breakfast is served! Share your thoughts in the comments below the video - I'd love to hear from you. 😍

Hi food lovers! 🍴 I hope this French Crepes recipe brings some joy to your day! 😍 Let me know in the comments if you have any questions or suggestions! 🤗
Hi! Nicest crepes i ejoy.. Thank a lot for this receipt.. I am from Mauritius 💓💓💓
Perfect!Thanks🙏
Please if you can tell how many crepes does this make ?
Better use just 400ml milk and instead of baking soda=chimichanga add 100 ml beer and less sugar and butter. Yummy!
French here, never heard of using baking powder too. I tried with or without butter/oil in the dough and you can't really taste the difference so no added fat is required. What makes a big difference in taste is adding dark rum! (Negrita is perfect for this). There's millions of variations to make crêpes ;)
Same advice for the rhum, very cool flavour add !
That's awesome, Thor! Storm breaker must be the secret ingredient to perfect French crepes! ⚡🥞
Okay, I won't use oil, butter or baking powder. We'll try maple syrup, organic honey, molasses, or dark rum. Thx !
In Paris on a week of business during 2004, one morning I was served crepes for breakfast and I could taste vanilla in the crepes. Every cook, often each region, has their own unique way to make foods.
@@TheROMaNProject Yup, I use it sometimes too. You can also use orange blossom. As I said there's an infinite way to flavor them.
The only secret is : preheat your frying pan as you cooking the dough, it has to be very hot (7.5, 8 / 10), once it's ok spread BUTTER nut to cook your crepes gorgeously colored and tasty.
250g flour
4 eggs
1/2 liter of milk
And that's it !
Vanilla is optional... Our grandmothers used to add some Fleur d'Oranger. If you add these reserve dough for almost an hour to give flavours the time to diffuse.
Variant: once the crepe is cooked, spread some sugar then add few drops of lemon juice.
Bon appetit ! Cheers from France !
Preheating the frying pan and using butter definitely adds flavor and color to the crepes! 😊👍
In my country Slovenia, pancakes are so much easier to make. No baking powder, no butter... just flour, eggs, a pinch of sugar and salt, we add 3/4 of milk and 1/4 of sparkling water, to be light and mix. Are perfect.
That sounds like a delicious and simple pancake recipe! 😊🥞
Exactly like in my country. Just a few ingredients 😉
Greetings from Hungary 😊
🙃greetings from Slovenia, your neighbouring country😊
Agreed 🤗
U pravu si susjede...❤
I make this 4-5 times a week. For breakfast, lunch and dinner or as a goodnight snacks as well :D You can have them with fruit, nutella, meat or vegetable filling. And I can balance the protein by adding more eggs or protein powder. You can use them for everything literally.
Commenting from Aalborg, Denmark
That's awesome! 😄👍 Enjoy your versatile and protein-packed French crepes!
I followed your recipe exactly and the crepes were PERFECT! Thank you!!
I'm so glad to hear that the crepes turned out perfect for you! 😄
I grew up in France (Annecy city) when i was a student i used to work in a crêperie. We do add baking powder (Alsa levure chimique) and corn starch (Maizena) to make it lighter, certain packaging of Alsa, you can read a crepe recipe including baking powder.
Yes, adding baking powder and corn starch can indeed make the crepes lighter! 🥞😊
Merci pour la précision.
Blessings +++!!!
I always use baking powder.
Adding yeast instead of backing powder is much better and it gives the crepe more beautiful color .. and the original french crepe is without lemon I think lemon is an American add
@@georgek3527 yeast, you mean levure boulangere? I will try, i make salted crepes with ham and cheese weekly. Thanks for your suggestion
London here...
I'll definitely try this recipe.
Thanks for your video.

So glad to hear it, London! Wishing you success with your crepes and sending blessings your way too! 🥞✨
My grandmother was from Finland and she made these for me. Finnish Pancakes! No baking powder and less sugar. She sprinkled sugar on top when done. Yummy!
Thank you for sharing your grandmother's Finnish Pancakes recipe! 😋🥞

Wow, that's quite the compliment coming from a seasoned crepe maker! Thrilled to hear they were a hit in St Eustatius 🍳🎉!
I didn't change a thing with this recipe and it was absolutely delicious 😋 My family loved it too, so, thank you!
We're so glad you and your family enjoyed the crepes! 😄🥞
My favorite method is putting ingredients into blender and mix on medium speed until smooth. Never added baking powder or vanilla or lemon. My crepes curve up around the edges after I flip them. Sweetened and sliced strawberries with whipped cream is our family favorite topping.
Your crepes sound delicious! 🥞🍓 It's great that you've found the perfect method for mixing the ingredients. Keep up the good work! 👍😊
Turn the heat on the highest.
Throw wet ingredients in a shaker. Shake for a 10 seconds
Throw in half of the flour. Shake for 15 seconds.
Throw in the other half. Shake for 15 seconds.
Fry.
Use more salt. Use any kind of fat or oil you want.

North of France here, we don't use baking powder (crêpes should not rise), lemon nor vanilla in French crêpes. Here in the north, we sub 1/4 of the milk for beer. Your take on the recipe looks yummy, will try, without the baking powder. 😉
👍🥞 We appreciate your input from the North of France! Enjoy your crêpes without baking powder, lemon, or vanilla and let us know how they turn out! 🍺😊
I would choose not to use beer! This looks delicious
I was told when we had our holiday camping in north west France (Carnac) they used sparkling water not beer …they were delicious, my children were weened on them 🤗
Yes I concur that using beer is the best. The crepe is light as a feather> Let the mixture rest 4 at least 4hr - overnite if u wish.
Pour moi, c'est moitié lait , moitié bière !
Cooking is an art and not everyone is gifted with it but everyone has the potential to learn it. I like it. Your style and big thumb 👍173 💕 ☕
Thank you so much! 🙏😊
Well said !
Made crepes and ate them as one of my favorite food. Being a French Canadian this could be not just breakfast but supper, with Canadian cheese, or molasses. At that time nobody paid attention, and being part of a family of 8 children, was a very economical supper. Now 84, and still relish them.
It's wonderful to hear how crepes bring back such fond memories for you, especially with that Canadian touch of cheese or molasses! Keep relishing them at 84! 🥞🍁
Canadian ham, cheese and molasses sounds wonderful & delicious ! 🤗 8 kids is nice ! I was an only abandoned child but I survived on the food threads anyway.
Breaking the eggs in a different bowl and get the white string out of the eggs. Whisk flower and milk first, so that you dont get any lumps. Than add the eggs! add a little sesame oil for the flavour and maybe some vanilla sugar. that is just the way I do it. thank you for this video!
Great tips on avoiding lumps and enhancing flavor with sesame oil and vanilla sugar - thanks for sharing your method! Happy crepe making! 😊🥞
100% French here and even more from Brittany where the crêpes are from : never heard of baking powder in the recipe but some of us put a glass of beer in the batter for the yeast and the acidity which helps a lot with the flour so baking soda and lemon make sens but are not used here
🇫🇷 Merci beaucoup pour votre commentaire intéressant ! C'est génial d'en apprendre davantage sur les différentes façons de préparer les crêpes en France. 🥞🍻

As an authentic french dude (actually living in France), most of us don't use "baking powder" in the original recipe, I know it does exist but the majority of us don't use it.
But he forgot one of THE MOST important ingredient : BUTTER which is the secret ingredient for most of the french recipes ! 😅
You can replace also the refined white sugar with "cassonade" which is natural cane brown sugar (it's even better).
Of couse if you can put the content of a natural vanilla pod (just the tiny black grains inside), it will be insanely good !
Finally some of us french are adding just a tiny bit of rum (just the equivalent of a table spoon, no more, but you can do without also).
And please for god sake do not grease the pan with oil ! A real french man will use butter (but be careful because butter is burning if there's too much heat) !
here's the recipe of one of our great Chef : Philippe Etchebest "Meilleur ouvrier de France" (which is a title reserved to our VERY BEST ONLY)
Sorry but we're using the metric system 😅 : So for 4 to 6 persons :
40 g de beurre (butter)
4 oeufs (eggs)
250 g de farine (flour)
40 g de sucre en poudre (sugar)
60 cl de lait (milk)
1 cuil. à soupe d’eau de fleur d’oranger ou de rhum, Grand Marnier … (1 table spoon of Orange blossom extract, Rum or grand marnier, your choice) => this one is optional.
Merci for the authentic tips, mon ami! I'll definitely try with butter and cassonade next time. 🥞🇫🇷
@@FastEasyRecipes with pleasure my friend 😉 You’ll see butter really makes a whole difference !
He did include Butter in this video.
My prefered recipe : the same , but half milk , half beer (light , lager type )
This is new recipe to me. Thanks for sharing. I am from India. We make similar crepes. But we use wheat flour and semolina. That is: 1/2 cup wheat flour+ 1/2 cup semolina. Mis it well. Add 3/4 teaspoon of sugar and a pinch of salt.mix it again and pour water in it to make same batter as french crepes. Spread groundnut oil on medium flame heated pan. Pour the batter and spread it with spoon slowly. Trunk it upside down twice till it's colour becomes light brown & crispy. Add more sugar if one like sweet taste. That's all. 😊
Your version of crepes sounds delicious! 🥞 Thank you for sharing your recipe from India! 🇮🇳
@@FastEasyRecipes try it. Hope you may like.
Similarly one can make using red chilli & coriander leaves. Also add half spoon Cummin+ coriander seeds powder. Rest is same. This will give little spicy taste. We eat this with pickles.😃
Thank you for your recipe. I tried it precisely as you did and they turned out beautifully.
I'm so glad to hear that! 😊👍

Greeting from Houston, Texas in the US! I once spent about a week in Paris on business when I was in my 20's and I ate nearly every meal from the street carts serving crepes even though I was on an expense account at the time and could have eaten pretty much anything. It's strangely the first experience I ever had with Nutella... a Nutella and banana crepe was my go to. After I got back to the states I found Nutella in the stores but it was the trip to Paris that introduced me 🙂
I'm so glad you enjoyed your experience with Nutella and banana crepes in Paris! Mixing all the ingredients correctly is definitely the secret to perfect French crepes. 😊🥞
I love crepes, especially lemon/sugar ones where you sprinkle each crepe with a bit of lemon juice then a little sugar and fold. The tart lemon juice & sugar make a really nice breakfast, lunch or dessert for dinner. Yum. I’ve never added baking soda to my recipe but will give this a try.
Pace of the vid is perfect. Some others take way too long by showing just about every second of putting it together, which is unnecessary. Or it’s way too fast and you can’t jot things down.
I’ll look forward to others!😊
Perfect ! Thanks for sharing.
So glad you appreciated it! 🥞 Keep on cooking up those perfect crepes!

Greetings from Amsterdam!
Dutch pancakes are a lot thicker than French crepes, but not as thick or fluffy as American pancakes. When I grew up, we had them exclusively for dinner in the evening (in Dutch culture, we normally don't eat warm foods for breakfast) and we would make hearty pancakes by adding cheese, or sweet ones by adding powdered sugar or a thick caramel-like syrup. 😊

Being french and cooking crepes quite often, I can tell you that there is no baking powder in the batter, your recipe is the American version of our french crepes, this is kind of weird, but I will give it a try ! 😊
No worries, give it a try and let me know how it turns out! 🤗🇫🇷
No American would add baking soda to crepes either, unless they were following the recipe of someone who has no idea of what they are doing.
@FastEasyRecipes In fact some people in my area put some beer in the batter to make lighter crepes, it has the same effect it creates some gaz bubbles in the batter but I will try your recipe for sure, yes !
The acid lemon added late reacts with the alkoline baking powder and the result is a fluffy crepe that would soak up sauces like in a crepe suzette.
Checking my brandy and Countreau reserves, need oranges.
Kudos from Brisbane
Thanks for the tip! 🍋🥞 I'll make sure to add some acid lemon to my crepe batter next time for that extra fluffiness. Cheers from Brisbane! 🇦🇺

Yes, but... the secret to *really* good crêpes is taking part in the Paris-Brest-Paris cycling event and eating them at the roadside from a stand that villagers have set up with a sign reading "Crêpes 2€50, free for PBP riders". Believe me, they're the best.
👍 That sounds like an amazing experience! I'll definitely keep that in mind for my next crêpe adventure! 🚴♂️🥞

I so agree! My aunt from Paris would never put lemon or baking powder into her crepes. And instead of regular sugar one uses powered sugar. The crepes need to be thinner. For that one uses a special wooden crepes batter spreader. Her tip: you can read a newspaper through your crepe😊
