  • Today saw the first time since 2007, that a Class 45 Peak has returned to the mainline. The last 45 to go on the mainline was 45112, which last ran in 2007. There hasn't been a mainline Peak since then, until now!
45118 which is now owned by Locomotive Services Group, made its first mainline moves today. The peak has been at Barrow Hill receiving an overhaul. Today 45118 worked 0Z40 Barrow Hill - Worksop and 0Z41 Worksop- Barrow Hill. Before then working 0Z44 Barrow Hill - Crewe HS. with 40013 'Andania' and 37409 'Loch Awe' for company.
For this move, we went to Queensville curve in Stafford, the convoy had been routed onto the fast line. The first two shots were filmed by yours truly, whilst my dad filmed the last shot on his phone. 45118's first mainline tour is expected to be The Diamond Jubilee Express on July 27th. 45118 certainly looked immaculate and I look forward to seeing more of this loco out on the big railway soon.

Excellent catch here Peter, fantastic to see a peak running under its own power on the mainline, one of my favourite British diesels and think I may have mentioned before but my dad when he was young saw every one of them across all 3 classes.
