PERMANENT PLAYER/OBJECTIVE OUTLINES: Sorry if you mentioned this, but it's something I found and has been sooo useful. You know how when you use the laser pointer, you see the outlines of everything for a few seconds after you close the laser pointer tool. Well I wanted to be able to see the outlines at all times, and I found a way! Step 1: in the options, change the laser pointer tool to "toggle". This way when you press the laser pointer button, it stays out until you press it again. Step 2: bring out the laser pointer in game. Notice you can see outlines as long as the laser pointer is active. Step 3: press any key that switches to a weapon (1, 2, 3 etc) This puts away the laser pointer, but outlines never go away now unless you bring the pointer back out and close it manually. As long as you swap from the laser pointer to a weapon, and it's set to toggle, you're good! Love this especially for easily locating everyone at all times since you see the player outlines.

As for bug repellant on Engy's platforms, the way I understand it is that the Glyphid's pathfinding AI treats the platforms as though they were 8x the distance (with repellant)
One way you can look at bug repellant is that it doesnt so much stop bugs from walking on your platforms as that it makes them think itll slow them down. When pathfinding, every surface has a kind of resistance stat that tells the ai how fast it would be to pass over that surface, the higher that resistance, the longer itll take to travel over it, at least in the ai's calculations. So, lets say platforms have 2x the ressistance of normal terrain, that would mean bugs will think any route around thats less than twice as long as going over them is shorter, and thus preferable. Now I'm not sure this is exactly how its done in DRG, but I have seen it done like this elsewhere, and it seems to match what I've seen here.
Regarding the stabber vines, when playing solo, you can target them with the laser pointer (anywhere on its body) and Bosco will kill it. However, Bosco will only kill one at a time, so you need to target the body each time if there are more than one vine. This is the easiest and safest way to deal with them.
Addition to 31: If you manage to time it just right, you can break yourself out of the ice by power attacking the moment before you become frozen solid Also adding to 38: I believe cancelling the laser this way will still consume half of the remaining ammo in the chamber, so don't do it too often.
To add on to Tip #44 Before engaging a hooli hoarder, if you have a scout using cryo grenades have him toss one at the hoarder before engaging it. This will either stop it in place entirely or slow it down immensely while also taking more damage from other weapons. It doesnt seem like it was designed to work like this as it seems like it has pretty high resistance to drillers cryo cannon in my experience but as of right now cryo grenades make killing hoarders extremely easy. Also freezing a brood nexus before destroying it will prevent any swarmers from spawning from it. It freezes almost instantly from any form of cryo damage so its very much worth the time and ammo efficiency to freeze them before destroying them
My biggest tip for the game is having the highest ammo efficiency and tool usage efficiency doesn't matter nearly as much as doing things quickly. Use your platforms to climb and grab stuff, throw ziplines where needed, use the drills and C4 to terraform areas to fight in better. You don't take any nitra with you when you leave. Don't waste it if you've not got nitra to soare, but you usually have a large excess of nitra on maps Tldr using resources to save time > being stingy and the most ammo efficient at all times. (Also applies to high ammo low damage overclocks mostly)
Fun Fact- even the light armor on grunts can be broken, its just also usually the case that the damage needed to break it kills them. This is most notable when taking the armor breaking mod on the Sludge pump.
In the topic of engineer platforms, my understanding is platforms with the bug repellent essentially count as double distance for bug pathfinding. So as long as avoiding the platform doesn’t massively increase distance, they’ll avoid it. But if it would either be impossible or dramatically longer to avoid the platforms, they’ll just walk over it.
3:41 is correct. I've literally just gotten out of a game where I found some pre exposed Jaditz on my terrain scanner. Fuel Cells from Escort Missions also show up (theyre a deep red) so I'd wager if you can pick it up, it'll show up 4:59: The spitballers projectile is the same; it can be broken by your team, and the bugs 13:41 You can also just switch guns. I run the overcharge booster OC and swapping back to my primary cancels the laser if I'm out of targets with too much ammo left/about yo be overrun
For the Omen Modulator: The panel for the plasma waves near the ground will always appear on the opposite side of the matrix core infusor box (the white box you put the key in to activate the event). Also, putting a resupply pod as close to any panel as possible (almost on top of it) then standing on it to make yourself just above the panel will still allow it to recognize you and expose the weak spots after some time. Do this with the plasma wave panel to easily expose the bottom layer of the Omen Modulator's weak spots for a much more trivialized Omen Modulator fight.

Just got this game and this guide gave me more confidence to play. I played survivor and love it but this was kinda confusing trying to play without friends
I just started yesterday. I accidentally shot someone in the face with several platforms, fun times. Someone else bought me a beer (I think) and showed me how to use platforms better. Several people showed me how to do stuff, great community 👍🏽
Adding to #36 about floating C4: You can do the same trick on any mission with flares. If you toss the Satchel Charge and immediately chuck a flare, the flare will bonk the C4 and you'll get the same suspended effect. This is super useful if you aren't carrying axes or you're using the Volatile Compound mod on the C4 (more damage, but the charge will explode early if it gets hit).
The other day I had 4 bulks spawn into a mission with exploder infestation 30secs into the mission. Either they really do spawn more or the game just really really doesn't want us to complete that mission
Another tip surrounding Pots of Gold/Dark Morkite that I see a lot of players misconceive: if you break gold/morkite via “floating” (removing any connection the ore has with terrain, thereby making it auto-destroy), you still get the multiplier from your drink on the drops. This can come especially in handy if you come across a Crassus Detonator and elect to float the gold from the explosion.
A small correction about number 25 the dwarf that the characters are referencing when grinding on pipes is called "Stony Rawk" not "Stony Rock". You can see this if you have subtitles on I just realised that this is both a reference to rock and stone as well as Tony Hawk.
when im doing escort i always explore all the rooms before starting dottie. Swarms dont happen before you start dottie so aside from the pre spawned enemies and maybe some extras that spawn (there wont be many) you have all the time you want
Tip 76 is typically how my group and I play, but we got really bad RNG once in a point extraction mission and we only got enough for 2 ammo drops and 4 Nitra short of a third. We didn't win that mission sadly.
26:59 engineer's platform gun pairs well with the gunner's ziplines due to this not just pairing well with scouts grappling hook. also disgusting when combined with driller on the refine liquid morkite missions. they pair well with everyone.
My brother briefed me on a few unwritten rules when I went on certain missions, such as spamming were rich until management gets pissed, or grabbing durettas head, or if you buy beer you pick it up last AND you must salute before you drink and the biggest one of all…. IF SOMEONE ROCK AND STONES YOU, YOU MUST RECIPROCATE SAID ROCK AND STONE
BTW on the engineer repellant platforms, the bugs treat the platforms like they're 2 times bigger than they are. So if a bug sees 2 paths, one across a platform and one around the platform that is 1.99 times the length, the bug will go around the platform.
I agree MOST of the player base is wholesome, but I've ran into some jerk that kick you (almost) at the end of missions or right at the start, it's so annoying
Here are my 3 tips: As gunner against enemies with the weakspots behind them you can fire your rockets aiming above and behind them and the rockets will go past them but if you look at them the rockets will turn and smack them in their weakspot makes quick work of opressors and works against bosses as well. As scout cryo grenade will one shot any flying enemy because they insta die if frozen and they all stop in place before they shoot, the thing is frozen enemies can be stepped on so you can grapple to the ceiling throw a grenade directly down on them freezing them and stepping on them as they fall so you don't take fall damage. As engineer your turrets can aim straight down so you can place them at the edge of any cliff or platform to give them more area to shoot. Glyphids are forced to stick to any surface they walk on so if you have a boss fight have your driller trenches as the glyphid boss crosses the trench they will look down with their weakspots facing up so having 4 or so trenches as your turrets go ham on them will maximize your damage.
Something I found out is that gunner's minigun lies to you about how much ammo it has from what I've seen it has half the displayed ammo because if you tap the fire button until you fire one round it will count as 2 in the ammo counter
I’m fine with green beards as long as they don’t do anything stupid, like ending the mission early, taking ammo when they don’t need it, starting events before we have any nitra.
Love your tips, love your videos. Just a small feedback, though: ORIENT is a word. ORIENTATION is a word. ORIENTATE is not a word -- use ORIENT instead. Thank you G.W. Bush for introducing this non-word into the lexicon.
probably been mentioned, but Bet-C and the uneffected by ice is probably to do with the mobility imparement of ice making you slide. As Bet-C would prob have ice picks on the tip of the legs to keep from sliding.
Another addendum to fall damage tips: Falling onto a fellow dwarf (and even some enemies, specifically ones you cannot stand on) will negate fall damage. This is great when you need to rescue the scout who grappled poorly and you don’t have a platform lol Fall damage is calculated based on your speed when you stop on collision. But since you cannot stand on top of some entities, you “bounce” off of them instead, resetting your momentum and not counting as a stop.
12:03 - Axes deal 240 damage in total. 80 kinetic AOE damage in 1.5 meter radius + 160 melee damage in singe target on a direct hit. If the axe kills a bug with it’s AOE damage, it does not stuck in bug’s body, meaning that you can pick it up and reuse. If enemy has more than 80 hp, axe would firstly apply 80 AOE damage, and then finish it with 160 single target punch. This also explains why axes are able to easily clean up gas fungi in fungus bogs: They are dealing 80 damage to everything in 1,5 meter radius while flying
ha tip 78. Yup, one of the worst missions I ever had in 1000 hrs was where I was playing a duo mission, we came to an absolute hellish room. "Ok lets take this slow, focus on the leeches and spitballers and..." I shit you not, a Nemesis spawned directly behind us blocking our way to previous safe room we cleared. Neither of us run the anti grapple perk, so we were forced into the hell room. We died in short order. The nemesis isn't really a tough boss, but its really unfair when it spawns directly on top of you. I've never had a bulk spawn that close to me before, and neither should the nemesis. Especially not when it has those push barriers. We couldn't have snuck past it if we wanted to with those stupid barriers that also go through terrain... x_x
What?!?! You can shoot the drones missiles?!?! Makes so much sense lmaoo. Oh and that's why I can pick up my axes sometimes! Wow thanks thanks for these tips! I'm level 800 but still finding out new stuff about this game all the time!
About the axes, as far as I know they do direct damage as well as AOE damage, if it’s only the AOE that hits the axe is retrievable. As for why you can pick it up after hitting the gas things in fungus bogs, no idea.
I have heard this as well. I'm pretty sure that the deal with fungus bog gas mushrooms is that there is a class of object that more or less counts as a terrain entity but has hitpoints despite having no health bar, and axes are just not consumed when damaging them. Electric crystals are the same way, but they take three axes, none of which are consumed. There are also a bunch of random plants in this class. Then there are stabber vines, which seem to be entirely their own thing, and do consume axes as far as I remember.
I knew most of these tips but the one to throw objects through webs blew me away. I've always been edging around them unless I had the Flamethrower....
Actually I do feel the need to say something. On escort missions swarms WILL NOT happen unless something specific triggers them until Doretta is moving. After that swarms are when Doretta is 5m into a wall or periodically when refiling her. So it is worth mining ahead to clear rooms and get overclocks. The proyand controversy comes with how boring it is however sometimes feels necessary such as cave leach cluster.
I didn’t know the black out beer was for the entire mission I drank a beer in the chair while going down and regretted it instantly I was playing a deep dive for the first time😂
7:00 For number 23, you can also drill or mine behind the oil deposits until it disconnects from the wall and it will all drop in a nice, condensed pile.
Regarding Number 26: If you press and hold the interact button while mid-air you will automatically attach yourself to a pipe or a zipline if you are in range. No need for a frame-perfect key press to attach yourself.
Embedded detonators are so fun to use on bosses. They can turn a 3-cycle boss like the hiveguard into only a one-cycle fight. That and orbital drops make for faster boss fights, too.
4:45 NEVER do anything first besides bottom. makes event incredibly easy being able to actually move around freely. drones die quick, but you die quicker getting sliced.

Tip 88 at 34:54 is somewhat wrong. The wave cooker for the driller secondary doesn't have unlimited range. The On-Site Refining, Salvage Operation, and Point Extraction missions, where incoming or exiting mission platforms or drop pods bore "infinite" vertical holes into the ceiling, bugs can occasionally spawn or wander far up those bore holes. If they're far enough up, I've been unable to hit them with my wave cooker. To be fair, the bugs have to be ridiculously far away, and is pretty rare.
It does the same amount of damage either way, unless you are using mods or overclocks to buff the focus shots. The focus shots always use up 2 ammo every time you shoot them.
You don't actually have to time it to correctly land and grind on the pipes. You can just hold interact, and you'll always grind on them when falling on them. Makes it very easy to land on them and to chain jumps to hit high speeds.

77 doesnt work anymore, they decreased temperature needed to freeze breeder and now it is 2 cryo granades
Thank you for the heads up!
Just got this game and this guide gave me more confidence to play. I played survivor and love it but this was kinda confusing trying to play without friends
YES YOU PUT THE RON ROSS DRAWING IN!
I had to.
I just started yesterday. I accidentally shot someone in the face with several platforms, fun times. Someone else bought me a beer (I think) and showed me how to use platforms better. Several people showed me how to do stuff, great community 👍🏽
Awesome! Welcome aboard!
Adding to #36 about floating C4:
You can do the same trick on any mission with flares.
Floating C4 was fixed
The other day I had 4 bulks spawn into a mission with exploder infestation 30secs into the mission.
Either they really do spawn more or the game just really really doesn't want us to complete that mission
Another tip surrounding Pots of Gold/Dark Morkite that I see a lot of players misconceive: if you break gold/morkite via “floating” (removing any connection the ore has with terrain, thereby making it auto-destroy), you still get the multiplier from your drink on the drops. This can come especially in handy if you come across a Crassus Detonator and elect to float the gold from the explosion.
Apparently, the last hit you make to destroy it has to be directly on the ore, not the terrain in order to get the bonus
The number of times ive riden a pipe past the build structure symbol hopefully never happen again. So helpful !
Yeah hope that it helps.
A small correction about number 25
the dwarf that the characters are referencing when grinding on pipes is called "Stony Rawk" not "Stony Rock". You can see this if you have subtitles on
I just realised that this is both a reference to rock and stone as well as Tony Hawk.
when im doing escort i always explore all the rooms before starting dottie.
Yes, there is a lot less unfortunate mining accidents that happen if you do all of those things. lol.
@@ReapeeRon not the mining accidents 🤣
Once the blackout drunk section ended i felt like i had the best vision lmao. yo go from strugglingggg, to seeing totally clearly again its wild.
Thanks Ron!!! Was really looking forward to this! YAY
Rock and Stone!
🐙
Thanks!
You can build a pipeline onto the shorter pillar next to the button on the pipeline minehead. And then build up and up and up on to the mine head.
BTW on the engineer repellant platforms, the bugs treat the platforms like they're 2 times bigger than they are. So if a bug sees 2 paths, one across a platform and one around the platform that is 1.99 times the length, the bug will go around the platform.
Missing the Yeast Cones during the armor breaking section triggered me.
I agree MOST of the player base is wholesome, but I've ran into some jerk that kick you (almost) at the end of missions or right at the start, it's so annoying
That is very true, but sadly that will happen with any online game.
Here are my 3 tips:
As gunner against enemies with the weakspots behind them you can fire your rockets aiming above and behind them and the rockets will go past them but if you look at them the rockets will turn and smack them in their weakspot makes quick work of opressors and works against bosses as well.
The Ebonics are too strong!
@@ReapeeRon I don't think this has anything to do with Ebonics.
I love putting two taser bolts and an IFG on dreadnoughts. Feels so mean!
It is really strong.
Thanks for recomending good open lobbies. A lot of people are not keen on new players like me
94. I had a bulk detonator show up on salvage mission... instant game over. It was solo haz5
That sucks when that happens.
I prefer to place molly or resupplies on the omen activation nodes. You can use them to open up the tower and as cover
That works too.
As a new player i like to play as a gunner and protect more experienced players and follow them.
Awesome!
@@ReapeeRon now after 10 hours of gameplay i am less noobish.
probably been mentioned, but Bet-C and the uneffected by ice is probably to do with the mobility imparement of ice making you slide. As Bet-C would prob have ice picks on the tip of the legs to keep from sliding.
You can also prevent explorers from exploding by killing them with the wave cooker since it disintegrates them.
Another addendum to fall damage tips: Falling onto a fellow dwarf (and even some enemies, specifically ones you cannot stand on) will negate fall damage. This is great when you need to rescue the scout who grappled poorly and you don’t have a platform lol
Fall damage is calculated based on your speed when you stop on collision. But since you cannot stand on top of some entities, you “bounce” off of them instead, resetting your momentum and not counting as a stop.
Same reason shooting upwards with rocket fuel Boomstick hurts you
12:03 - Axes deal 240 damage in total.
Nice vid as always Ron! Rock and stone!
Thanks Rock and Stone!
ha tip 78. Yup, one of the worst missions I ever had in 1000 hrs was where I was playing a duo mission, we came to an absolute hellish room.
"Ok lets take this slow, focus on the leeches and spitballers and..."
I shit you not, a Nemesis spawned directly behind us blocking our way to previous safe room we cleared.
We couldn't have snuck past it if we wanted to with those stupid barriers that also go through terrain... x_x
Sometimes, Deep Rock can be like that.
You forgot the part where bringing dotty back with you gives you real life xp
Lol I didn’t even know stabber vines could be hit anywhere else
No, Driller is pretty awesome just like all the other classes.
Beers would be almost skippable if they ever "fixed" the beer thing. I'd skip most if they fixed it
They would still be good, but I don't know if they ever will fix that.
What?!?! You can shoot the drones missiles?!?! Makes so much sense lmaoo. Oh and that's why I can pick up my axes sometimes! Wow thanks thanks for these tips! I'm level 800 but still finding out new stuff about this game all the time!
Thanks for this great video man, currently my favorite game !
Glad you enjoy it!
Yeah it is a little strange.
It has damage stages:
1: 50 direct damage
2: 110 direct damage
3: 80 explosive damage
Only if stage 2 gets triggered, you lose the axe.
20:02 i didnt know you could even damage stabber vine outside of weakspot lmao
I knew most of these tips but the one to throw objects through webs blew me away. I've always been edging around them unless I had the Flamethrower....
It also works with the coil gun at least if you have the electric tier 5 mod.
102. You can build pipelines and travel on hurricane rockets.
3:45 13. I use it for the cargo box. Very useful.
Awesome, learnt loads with this one.
Glad it was helpful!
I didn’t know the black out beer was for the entire mission I drank a beer in the chair while going down and regretted it instantly I was playing a deep dive for the first time😂
Yeah that makes the mission much harder then it has to be. lol
7:00 For number 23, you can also drill or mine behind the oil deposits until it disconnects from the wall and it will all drop in a nice, condensed pile.
That does help.
@@ReapeeRon It's nice because it drops every piece of oil shale directly on top of each other, instead of scattering them.
I tend to try and carve the oil shale off the wall while mining it with the laser to then suck up the part that drops faster.
If you finish a kill on an enemy that leaves a cloud on death, using the wave cooker doesn’t allow the enemy to leave a cloud! (I have no idea why)
Bug repellent platforms:
Bugs see platform as taking 2x walking distance
Bug takes shortest route
That is a good way to put it.
Totally agree!
My eyes got so wide when i saw this pop up on my feed!
Yeah I’m pretty new to the game so I’m glad there are still people who post videos on it
Hope that you enjoy it!
@@ReapeeRon absolutely
#13 that waypoint is only for you (others can’t see it). Worth mentioning as I went weeks assuming others could see it 😂
4:45 NEVER do anything first besides bottom. makes event incredibly easy being able to actually move around freely. drones die quick, but you die quicker getting sliced.
You can build a bridge like 2 feet over the activation plates; the lasers pass roght under you and you're just low enough to activate them. Easiest event of the game. -Engineer Gang
Even as a dwarf who’s transitioning from green to grey beard, many tips were new and helpful to me! Keep up the great content!
Rock and Stone!
Thanks, will do! Rock and Stone!
You can pet Hack-c and he’ll shoo you away telling you to stop with a hand symbol on his monitor
Thanks!
One time I was breaking a Om..orant..? Hard stone and a boss spawn and it died because of the last blast!
(3)-Robots die instantly when lit on fire, including nemesis. (15)-Turret whip: uses other players ammo so respect them if they ask you to stop. (19👍)
(23👎) (27👎) (36👍) (40👍) (54👎)
(60👎)Loot/ event spawns are random. (63👍) (77👍) (97👍) (100👍) Tip 102: Don't hack. Having a teammate that has unlimited ammo, every passive enabled on weapons and gear are a killjoy.
You can reload other players turrets with your own ammo to make up for excessive whipping.
tip 60 yea the events are random but thats why he picked a point extraction and scout combo just go into the mission solo look around if you find nothing exit the mission and reroll. it only realy affects people who care about their mission win/fail ratio
The Born Ready Embedded Detonator trick is insanely based
It is a cool trick.
based on what?
With Number 98) the amount of health you regen is actually dependant on hazard level
You can pet Cave Leeches. If you get close enough. With your face.
To be fair, the bugs have to be ridiculously far away, and is pretty rare.
bruh it's like 2 am, I have to go to the work tomorrow, how did I even ended up here I don't even have the game
Nice vid though 👍🏻
Thanks, also hope you have a nice day at work tomorrow.
@@ReapeeRon cheers mate
Stupid question: why do you rapid fire the M1000 without focusing? Is it an overall loss of dps to take the time to focus?
It does the same amount of damage either way, unless you are using mods or overclocks to buff the focus shots. The focus shots always use up 2 ammo every time you shoot them.
26:06 nice steve u got there
Thanks!
