A little something extra that I think is worth mentioning is when you're jumping/falling to a zipline or cave angel you don't have to time pressing "e" You can just hold the button down as soon as you jump and you'll automatically grab it when you reach it.
This also works for Pipelines. I cannot Imagine how often jumping away from enemies onto a pipeline from the highest Cliff of a cave Saved my drunk dwarfen butt
You're probably aware, but I'm just throwing this out there for people who don't know: This also works for every other interactable thing in the game like pushing buttons, resupplying or grabbing stuff. Very handy for picking up fossils during a fly-by or catching a mineral that a friend tossed to you!
-ressuplies pod can and will kill you if you stand under them. -boarding the drop pod with the secondary objective items either in your inventory or your hand will not complete the objective. You need to deposit them before leaving -holding "e" while falling lets you grab a cave Angel or a zipline. You don't need to time it. -grabbing a zipline lets you escape the hold of mactera grabbers. -pressing "x" makes Bosco either drop or throw whatever he's holding. -do not freeze a Crassus detonator. There wont be any gold spawn -a greenbeard is almost always welcome. A greenbeard who doesn't read the chat nor answer ISN'T! -while looking at the map, press the spacebar to align yourself with the direction you're facing in the map overview -the unknown horror is visible on the map (a black sphere) -in "on site refinery", the leaks are visible on the map. -aquarqs and gunk seeds are visible in the map once you've popped them or dug them up. -press "e" while holding the laser pointer to set a waypoint where you're pointing. -if you can, bind the grenade to a button situated on your mouse. being able to move while aiming is quite pleasant. (particularly for impact axes) -EPC mining can also be useful for bringing down the scout who died 50 meters above everyone. -Bosco can kill fester fleas if you ping them. -Dreadnoughts cannot be set on fire. -balance the damages between the 2 dreadnoughts (arbalest and lacerator). otherwise they will heal like crazy. -Bet-c does not give xp. if you want to avoid her, you absolutely can. -kill the Tyrant weed's healing pod in priority. dont ask, just do it. -bring Dotty's head back on the pod. She's part of the team. -wait for the other players before attacking the mineral hoarder. (or the prospector, or starting an event) -if you click with your laser pointer on the differents parts of the OMEN MODULAR EXTERMINATOR, you can see what weapons it is going to use. (bottom one is always the lasers. second and third floor can be any combination of drones/heavy burster/twin slicer) -in "on site refinery", do the secondary objective BEFORE starting the refinery (especially if it involves gunk seeds). the bugs will certainly overwhelm you after the liquide morkite is safe. -if you hate swarmers (who doesn't?) "thorns" is a really good perk. More over, if you have a weapon that does less than 15 dmg, in HAZ 5, you will NOT one-shot a swarmer. -the "strong arm" perk DOES NOT grant you a carry speed for gems and other heavy objects. the beer "backbreaker stout" does. (this might have been patched. -do not run in the memorial hall. it's really not respectful for Karl. -as gunner, if you like to hang whil shooting, it's a good idea to set up a parallel zipline 2 meters under your first zipline. if you fall, you can catch the other one. -as a gunner in an iron will state, resurect your teammate, THEN set up your shield, then die. Your teammate will (hopefully) rez you right after your death. -as gunner, if you purchase the shield expansions in tier 1 and 3, your shiled will be big enough to protect the entire dildozer. -yes, it's actually called a "dildozer", look at its pointy end. -as engineer, press "r" (reload) when having your turrets selected to toggle between which of the two you will relocate. -as engineer, please plug the hole created by the ressuply pod, especially if close to the uplink or the fuel pod -as engineer, "turret whip" will also work on other engineers' turrets. (not sure about the overclock "turret discharge" or "turret arc" for the stubby voltaic SMG though) -as engineer, please set up plateforms just above your eyes above the OMEN MODULAR EXTERMINATOR buttons (not stacking them on top of each other.) this will (hopefully) negate the lasers cutting your ankles but you will activate the buttons -"repellant additive" can also be used to funel the bugs on your proximity mines, make sure to use this strategically. -proximity mines will disappear in an explosion 3 minutes after exploding for the first time. -if you hear a scout screaming whil being stuck on the ceiling, either place a plateform under him or stand under him. otherwise, he'll fall to his death. -as engineer, call you sentry before leaving Hoxxes IV. (you can do it while the animation of the pod leaving the planet is playing) otherwise your turrets will be left alone on Hoxxes. They will be terribly sad. (also, management is tired of buying new ones each time you go on a mission) -as scout without an engi (or a bad one), you can hang on the wall above the gold you want to mine, then call Molly. She'll come right under your feet and you will be able to start mining. -as driller, "hardened drill tips" in the tier 1 upgrade of your drills only upgrades your REAL drill speed by 20%, not 50. ("Drilling in the name of" made a good video about this) -as driller, drill a tunnel in which the crasus detonator can explode. (you're a dwarf after all, express your love for gold) -if you are using a weapon overclock that does something with bullets when they are hitting the ground (bounce elsewhere or convert to electro/cryo minelets), use blow through rounds as well: you will hit your ennemy, and then the bullet will have its interaction with the ground as well. -do not, under any circumstances, tell management you are in possession of a weapon overclock.
mabye you dont know or didnt read the stats/description, but yes the backbreaker stout is for carry speed, in terms for perks though, there is. strong arm perk does flare throwing and carry throwing distance, unstoppable perk does 50% resistance to slowdown effects (like the sludge in fugus bogs) and give i think up to 30% increase in movement speed while carrying. tldr; the perk unstoppable is like the beer backbreaker stout, not strong arm
A very small thing but worth mentioning nonetheless: In the radioactive exclusion biome, the cave vines are passive and you can actually pet them the same way you would a lootbug. I’m saying that because when I first encountered those things hanging from the ceiling and reaching for me, my gamer instincts made me blow them to oblivion. Don’t waste your ammunition on what is essentially a friendly organism !
As a beginner at Deep Rock, this primer was well executed and very informative. No BS. No yammering on. Straight and to the point. I thank you and my ADHD thanks you. Excellent video! I appreciate you!
Tip 101: if one of the liquid morkite geysers in a on-site refining mission is more than 100 meters DIRECTLY ABOVE the refinery, then just abandon the mission, ~4k credits is not worth 47 minutes of your life.
Had that 1.53% chance of a dreadnought pop today. We were doing a hacking pod. At the end of a point extraction. The bugs were already constant, but when the dread showed up? Pandemonium. I don’t even know how we got the data cube and made it to the pod. It was very rock and stone
god dreadnoughts showing up are terrifying when it isnt an elimination mission, probably due to lack of preparation. Me and my friends do 4 player elimination missions all the time and we can handle 2-3 at once mostly fine. When one appeared on our refinery mission we nearly lost. It is so unexpected and that is the worst part about it, if you can make it through you feel absolutely incredible, plus it can be better if you are lacking in single target or lacking ammo, due to only one threat rather than a bunch.
For number 75 let's say you have to deposit one aplaca bloom for the secondary mission and you keep it in your inventory and do not deposit it and take the dropship, you will fail the secondary mission. You need to deposit it before boarding.
@@literatemax minerals get depositied at the end of the mission, unless they have some sort of gameplay related condition to them (which is most of them). mission related resources will not be considered, such as morkite, nitra, and secondary objectives. heavy chunks need to be deposited, as they don't count towards your resource collection until they are. so really that only leaves generally meaningless resources: gold, crafting minerals, and beer materials.
@@ReapeeRon You also don't get experience for having stuff in your pockets. Best practice is to always deposit before getting in the drop pod if possible.
Some Additions to Tips 6. 1:40 Thin Containment Field can also be broken by other dangerous projectiles such as the acid attack from a Spitter or Menace. 9. 2:43 Iron Will is especially helpful when combined with the perks Field Medic, Resuppler, and Vampire. Field Medic can help you revive you fallen teammates faster and Resuppler can make reviving yourself with a resupply much faster and more beneficial. Vampire also allows you to revive yourself when no red sugar or resupply is nearby. This perk build is a personal favorite of mine which can save a failed mission when everything goes wrong! 11. 3:24 The IFGs also do 30% bonus damage to anything inside of them. Combine this with the Stubby or Zhukov's Conductive Bullet modification and you'll be doing 60% more damage just from an IFG along! 19. 5:58 Something I would recommend to change in the settings is to enable Toggle Laser Pointer and Terrain Scanner. Just try it once and you'll know why it's really good. 25 7:14 Two reliable ways to deal temperature shock damage (which is a 200 disintegrate damage to all enemies each time it's applied) is with Scout and Driller. With the Driller use the Cryo Cannon and the EPC with Plasma Burn to deal Fire Damage. With the Scout use the Drak-25 with Thermal Exhaust Feedback and the Zhukovs with Cryo Minelets. 27 8:07 Also make sure to not stand on your platforms when you're using repellent. The bugs will straight up ignore them. The best use I found with repellent is to make a path to funnel the bugs to. 44. 13:01 The Driller's drills can also be used to prevent flying rocks from colliding with the Drilldozer. Just drill facing upwards and below the rocks and when they hit your drills they'll break apart instantly. 47. 13:51 This is unfortunately false. Hitting reload on the Minigun will play it's gunsling animation which has no effect on cooling. This is also true with the drills. However there's no reason no too if you're cooling of the minigun and don't want to use your secondary. 59. 17:13 You can also pet the Hexawing Gniffers and Breather plants in Azure Weald and Radioactive Exclusion Zone respectively. These two are just for fun. 66. 19:06 Specifically Mutators (just like Hazard Level, Mission Length and Complexity) contribute to the Hazard bonus which is what Credits, XP and crafting minerals are multiplyed by at the end of the mission 72. 20:33 To my knowledge Dreadnought swarms will only happen on Mining, Point Extraction, or Refinery Missions. I'm completely sure they won't show up during a Salvage, Elimination, Escort or Industrial Sabotage mission, but they could show up during Egg Hunts.
Also 71. Not only Gold and Nitra but all minerals you have like crafting minerals count as well. The only thing you should make sure are deposited are secondary objective (be sure that the checkmark is there before the pod takes off) and big minerals like Jadiz, Enor pearls, compressed gold, etc
Unsure of the Dreadnought swarm coding, but they do absolutely show up on Deep and Elite Dives. I've actually had a Random Dreadnought swarm get called called at the same time an Dreadnought Elimination was active as on objective and had to fight both simultaneously - though it was the secondary in the stage. Over the past couple of years, I've probably had at least 4-5 dread swarms called during Dives - it is not a mechanic coded in to the specific dive seed, it's still random. On the toggle laser pointer option - that's completely personal preference. I actually find it infuriating having the toggle on, especially if you use it to spot highlight enemies in darker areas you intend to immediately start firing at. Having to manually deactivate that pointer really breaks the flow if you rely on using the pointer a lot just to guide yourself/level set your POV all the time like I do.
If you want to challenge yourself, drink a blackout stout then quickly start the mission as soon as possible, you should blackout AFTER it hits 0. This sometimes causes the drunk effect to stay active the entire expedition.
I drank like 2 Glyphid Slammers and got the same drunk effect the entire expedition, thankfully I had another dwarf helping me not die from horrible aim
A super helpful map tip - When spinning the map around it can be hard to tell which way you are facing vs the way you want to go. Hit Spacebar to have your Dwarf align with the way you spun the map.
@@janachten3167 On PC we hold tab down to have the map open, then to align yourself with the new direction the we hit spacebar which is also jump. So, hopefully the binding is the same. Probably can also just open up the map spin it a different direction and then spam other buttons until one works assuming there is a console option for this binding which I assume there would be.
@@janachten3167 I'm on PC but I would suggest while viewing the map look at the bottom of the screen to check for a tool tip indicating what button to press.
Another tip regarding pipelines: if you fall from a high place directly onto a pileline, you can keep your E key pressed and, upon touching the rail, you'll immediately slide and avoid any and all fall damage, no matter your fall velocity or height. Pretty useful for all classes not called Scout!
I just started playing the game this weekend and I'm having a blast! There are three things I learned right away: 1. The community is really nice and helpful towards new players! Thank you! ❤ 2. You have to spam ROCK AND STONE as much as possible. 3. When you find a big chunk of gold you don't deposit it right away. You all gather around it with the laser pointers and yell "We're rich!!"
Been playing with a group pretty consistently since launch on playstation last month. This channel has been real helpful, especially with the overclock guides and such. Keep up the great work!
A little Tip for Drilldozer mission that ive been doing that helps a lot in solo. You can use Bosco to mine Oil shardes on the roof of the cave so you don't have to mine up to it. Makes drilldozer in solo more tolerable. I forgot to add that you will have to use the battery laser thingy to pick it up still but it'll save you time still.
For tip 73, you can also order Bosco to break a crystal for you. It will go for the base and not the tip, but it's a way to get rid of them eventually. Its Tier 1 Mining Expert perk will also make it destroy a crystal faster. For tip 86, you can also keep your E key pressed while jumping (on PC at least) and you will always grab a zipline while falling without having to time the button press.
Tipp 101: You can pre-drill doretta missions. Use the compass in the top middle of your screen and go for direction 220, be sure that you are not to high, low, left or right from where doretta is facing or you drill past a cave. Tipp 102: You can also pre-drill on morkite missions. Go for the 220 on your compass again and drill down in an ankle about 40 to 45 degrees. This makes the extraction go alot smoother. Best is to have your team go the regular way to mine stuff from the tunnels while you already set up the escape tunnel during the mission. Note, this is quite fuel consuming, better take a max fuel drill for that.
A little fall damage tip for brand new players who chose the scout path, when falling you can use the grappling hook and shoot the ground below you when it’s reachable but you cannot use it if you went high WITH it unless you work on a good charge rate.
Overhangs (even without the repelling additive, though regular enemies will just walk over it) also are handy to help prevent things like Meances, Webslingers, or the worst of all Acid spitters, from having really ridiculously far lines of sights to get a cheap shot or two at you from above. Also helps if the roof is low enough grunts or other similar enemies could attack you from their position on the roof. Though like was stated, be careful on placing too much. Since you are cutting off line of site for you and others also.
Regarding engineer platforms with repellant, the platform in the path of a bug increases the distance in the calculation of the bug optimal/shortest path. So all you have to do is make that number higher by increasing the distance to travel on the platforms, at some point with enough platforms in a row, the bug will go around it, even if there is a great distance, since it sums up to less distance than walking over 5 platforms in a row for the straight line path. This means you can make wide overhangs as well, just increase the number of platforms going forward in the middle of the overhang, and gradually decreasing towards the sides. For example, the overhang over a pod would be centered on said pod and almost come to cover it in the middle, the overhang will have the shape of a half moon.
As a driller main, I LOVE that last tip and it makes so much sense too. I am pretty surprised though that you didn't mention the really good tip, (for goo gun for example) which is that any weapon with a "hold click" kind of charge shot mechanic that takes up extra ammo, can all be used at 1 ammo in the clip and still work just as well. I always use this on the sludge pump to get some free easy shots off.
For tip 79 and resupplies, on my first multiplayer mission with randoms, the graybeard called in 3 resupply pods (one for each player, or just 4 resupplies each)… During the boss fight, when I went to get my 3rd resupply (of the whole mission), I realized they were all empty. The other greenbeard (lower level than even me) had taken not only all of his but also my own (and probably some of the graybeard’s). It’s not rocket science, it’s basic math 😂 I am a greenbeard and even I can tell that you have to freakin share lmao… It can be forgiven, sure, but remember that if you take everyone else’s ammo, you also take away their fun because they can’t do anything anymore.
With tip 43, you can also freeze the Crassus before it dies and get the same effect. This also cancels out the gold crater that a Crassus leaves behind, so make sure your Cryo driller knows not to do this Also I did not know about Goo negating falling damage!
I had no idea about the dreadnaught thing until one spawned in my escort duty and destroyed Dotty. It’s also the only time I’ve ever lost due to Dorretta being destroyed
@@ReapeeRon it's early still, so I'm not sure if you're being serious or not :p in case you are, try it. Drink 2 beers til you are tipsy then order a Leaflover's. No more drunk
Just an edit for tip #5: Hoverboots does no fire damage but does apply heat. (The difference is heat is what heats up enemies, and fire damage is simply a damage type that some enemies may or may not be weak or resistant to)
Since DRG came out on PS4,you became my Wikipedia of Rock and Stoning !!! You are doing a great job man! and by staying objective while still been subjective about your own preferences, you give people ideas without hindering their own progress and playstyle. Good job mate ! Did i hear a ROCK AND STONEE anyone !!!?
I've played Deep Rock Galactic for over 600 hours. not ONCE did I EVER notice #76 happening, but I know that even with little nitra veins, salvage missions have always felt manageable on resupply pods. I feel so confused, how this was never something I acknowledged or noticed.
Once again a great video. Well structured and informative accompanied by your sunny attitude. You light up these infested caves like no one before you. Thank you, Rock and Stone.
Excellent video, add one, when you are doing missions to protect the bulldozer, you can simply with a driller drill in the direction 220 and it will take you right to the core. This takes a bit of the excitement out of the game, but allows you to clear areas before bringing in the bulldozer.
This vid missed a very important tip for on site refinery missions, you can hold the interact button (usually E on pc) to automatically start riding on pipes to save yourself from fall damage without having to time the button press. It also stops you at unbuilt pipelines and begins repairing automatically, which makes the repair job a little less tedious.
Regular detonators won't explode if you kill them with a headshot. Also Bosco really is MVP. He can dig out compressed dirt, he can dig out minerals on the wall, and he can dig out resources inside walls (Aquarks, compressed gold, jadiz, enor pearl, etc.) and automatically carry them back to you, which is _really_ nice when they're in hard-to-reach places. If you ping carryable things on the ground, he'll also bring them to you (for example, you can shoot down a gunk seed and ping it on the way down, and he'll find it and bring it to you) so on point extract missions you can just sit on the onsite refinery and let him do all the work. Plus he'll track down and kill fester fleas if you ping them. Basically, if you're solo, ping everything and Bosco will do the rest. (And if you salute him he salutes back!)
Recently found out about your channel Reape! Gotta say, has to be the most informative and thorough DRG channel out there! Subscribed and hope to see you on the caves, rock and stone
You can put personal waypoints by pressing Use key while using the laser pointer. Useful for Driller if you are doing rival data deposit hacking or On-site refining where you can place the way point on the objective and then drill precisely towards the objective.
27:52 Any direct damage dealt to those shots will stop them. Meaning any class with a high fire rate weapon will easily deal with the spitballer (EG : Gunner with the base minigun). Simply make sure that you are aiming your stream of fire at the mouth where the spitball will spawn when it's about to shoot one, and you are trouble free.
Great tips, thank you! Speaking of common courtesy, I once had a guy pop a dreadnought egg before we were ready and then leave the session.... we were on haz 4 with 3 dreadnoughts and he totally screwed us all over since we were still looking for nitra to resupply before the fight..
For the floating rocks against engineer platforms I think they nerfed this tactic since now when the omaron explodes between phases it also ruins your platforms too. You’d have to put those platforms up very fast when that phase begins which def would be hard to do.
You just have to prepare a bridge, just outside the Omaron’s range, then create the roof just as the first stage starts. Depends heavily on terrain, but if you have the ammo for it, it’s easy.
I feel I should point this out, Reapee, but for Tip 63... Hazard Ratings and Cave Complexity being used to determine stops can be thrown out the window. From the MISSION SELECT screen, underneath, where the quota for missions can be found (# Eggs, # Moarkite, etc.) it tells you a number followed by a Fuel Cell icon. This tells you how many stops are in the mission. I found this out recently and was only a thought until I went into a mission (The mission said 2, I thought 2, and there was 2 pit stops.), making it easier to determine a good plan. That aside, I'm still new to the game and some things I never of, really nice! Thanks!
Very well thought out tip list, but you forgot to mention one thing: Pots o' Gold is a great buff to have if you need more credits from completing a mission, but it's not a good idea to have when you start an open public game or join a game because not every teammate will have that buff active. Unless you tell them in advance to leave the gold for you to mine, thusly benefiting to the high bonus gold count in the long run, you're better off just going with either Red Rock Blasters, Slayer Stout, or Rocky Mountains as your buff. Pretty much any buff that doesn't have to rely on shared effort.
When doing the pickaxe event you can also tame ebonsteves that are invulnerable to enemy attacks and FF, but disappear after the event is over EDIT: This was unfortunately patched!
Super comprehensive and informative! You can see that you put in a lot of work into this Video, good job Ron! Actually the best DRG content creater out there!!
For number 28.) Bunkering/Overhangs, you really don't need repellant for the overhangs to be useful. I usually make a small overhang no matter what because it gets Mactera to fly lower and be easier to hit just by existing, no repellant needed. For number 95.) Promote - While I agree that promoting a dwarf as soon as you can is the best play, be aware that you can only take promoted classes into Deep Dives.
#71 Leaving minerals in your pockets while leaving does automatically get added to you credits, but it doesn't get added to XP for some reason. Unless of course this was fixed recently that I'm unaware of
From what I have seen the Plasma Burster mod on the Hurricane is working as intended. It wrecks anything airborne as the missiles pierce, turn around since your targeting is still on the airborne enemy, then keeps repeating the process.
Number 101: Keep an eye out for pink boxes on your minimap tablet. Those are either rocket boots that require a game of flappybird to unlock or a lost dwarf backpack with a cosmetic item inside. Number 102: Don't go up to 100% heat on your driller's powerfist drills. Try and time it and practice only going up to 99% or a bit lower. The cooling period from that point to go back to 0% is much quicker then waiting for the overheat animation. This'll let you drill where you wonna go faster and can be really helpfulI during one of those "2 minutes left to extract, whole team's counting on you drilling to the drop pod" situations. Rock and stone!
You can also bounce off the head of another dwarf, handy to know if you're stuck in the ceiling and there's no platform nearby. And if you kill the brood nexus by freezing it, the swarmers won't spew out of it afterwards. Great video, didn't know goo softened the landing!
It feels like a lot of dwarves either don't understand or don't care that popping an egg spawns a swarm. I dread Egg missions because there's always that guy that wants to rush. They'll pop yet another egg with no resupplies and a double swarm already breathing down their necks.
Another use for the platform gun on escort missions, you can use it on the lasers, use 2-3 to reach the top amd you only need to break the top bit for it to stop, and if any others are close to one you already have platforms and can jump to the nearest one
I've got 1000+ hrs in the game, and a couple of these I had not seen or done before (e.g. using the drills to stop spitballs). A few things I don't see very much are: using the bubble shield to push back and/or delay bulks, especially on escort missions. I always run to the bulk and put the shield in front of it so the team has extra time to explode it before it gets too close to the dozer. Another good shield tactic if you have 2 gunners, is to alternate shields (drop 1 once the first shield is out, then the 3rd after the 2nd is out, and so on). This keeps your team in a shield about 90% of the time; good for holding objectives like uplinks, fuel cells, and black boxes, as well as waiting for the slow ass / mule at the extraction pod. (With 1 gunner, it's also nice to drop your last shield 10 sec before the pod opens, right in front of it.) Also, an epic scout will knock down red sugar off the high spots in the cave for the rest of the team to stay healthy (and point it out with a ping and/or a chat). RnS!
An addendum to the dash breaking slows tip. In general, if you can reach a high enough threshold of speed bonus, you will completely beat a slow. For instance, scouts mods that add movement speed, rich atmosphere, etc. can easily allow you to ignore slows like snow, blizzards, and sandstorms. Stacking harder can potentially let you beat webs or goo, but this is much more difficult.
I know this is an old vid (and someone probably said this already), but pressing 'r' does not cool down your minigun. It's just an animation that takes time, and your minigun cools down at the normal rate while the animation is playing! That being said, there's a bunch of stuff I didn't realize already (like that the nuke doesn't lose resources when blowing stuff up). Keep up the good vids! : D
A favorite trick that I like to use is to throw a L.U.R.E. behind an Oppressor which will usually turn them around and then you can shoot at the exposed weak spot without concern of damage, or being flung across the map. As a side note, I'm pretty sure that L.U.R.E.s do not work on each of the main Dreadnaughts, the exception being any of the "smaller" bugs spawned by said, Dreadnaughts. Also, what Bosco mines is not simply a in conjunction of what vein you selected. Where you select is actually the center of a large circle, and Bosco will mine anything with in that circle (unless you pointed at dirt or rock that contains a singular, grabbable object, such as an egg or gem, or a leg to a mini mule). So make sure to select the center-most of where all the minerals are.
Awesome video man! I've been playing the game for a while now, and turns out there's still lots to learn about this game. Keep up the awesome content!! Rock and Stone!
Great Video! There's a ton of good information for new players. Following just a few of the 100 tips will improve your gameplay. Very impressed that you did a full 100 tips.
Close the door to your room when using the CRISPR on Driller. You may not actually notice your own maniacal laughter, but everyone else in hearing distance will.
Slowdown effevts are actually really really good for ghost missions. Densification beam (microwave), dazzler module (shard defractor), scouts ifg, etc. It may feel like you are wasting ammo but slowing down that thing periodically can give your team the space they need to survive, especially in a crowded cave.
For Tip 73, I like to use the RJ250 Compound on your 40mm to break the beam crystals. A nice well placed shot does the trick. Lots of ammo, fun mod, and useful if your teams a little, uhhh, off.
You can deposit on the side of the ship if you didnt finish the secondary mission, it might even be suggested sometimes when calling Molly when it goes to the ship
thank you for the vid. im lvl 500 but didnt know about the reload animation cancel and the drill block trick xd always good to know new stuff btw, not sure if you explained this but you can cancel mining animation releasing the mine button right after the hit, immediately starting next mining cycle. if well executed, may save some precious frames. Also works offensively when hitting enemies, may also help a bit when triggering vampire perk. Needs a bit of practice otherwise you lose some cycles by releasing earlier
I've found that gunner is the best dwarf for solo missions, being high damage, long range and the bubble shield guarantees invincibility for at least a few seconds. Driller is also good.... Except on missions that have wide open areas and you have lava gushers out of range of your flamethrower and every time you go to build a pipe a fucking stingtail fucking yoinks you away and you also have spiders fucking sniping you with webs and Bosco decides to ignore your order to fire the fucking rocket.... Engineer and scout honestly work best together than with the others due to their utilities.
going over the last tip you can just shoot the spitball so when you're driller you don't need to pull out your drills to block the shot you can just shoot it more preferably with the pistol or plasma charger but the sludge cannon and I believe the flamethrower works too as well as all the other classes' weapons only weapon I know of that doesn't work is the Microwave Gun
That hover boots thing saved my ass a few times when I fall really far. Sometimes I've drilled through a rock and just fell because it was a hole on the other side. On xbox its hold Y
One thing I found out the hard way - once Mission Control says "lift off: or something indicating that the pod is leaving, even if you manage to get in after that, you are considered lost and will not contribute to survival bonus of the mission.
when you already knew about tip 50 and use it religiously for point extraction "Bosco is your best friend" Also he can be used to kill fester flees if you don't want to chase them. and if you're running an electric Stubby build you can get the enemy low on health and 1 shot them with the basic pickaxe attack saves me around 4 shots perclip.
When you fall hold E ( dont need spam it ) to grap to anything like a zipline or an edge. When you open your map press space to reposition ur character where you looking.
71. I've seen that gold counts for money, but minerals in your pockets don't count for XP unless deposited. Also carried items like data cubes don't count unless deposited.
Cool!
You're probably aware, but I'm just throwing this out there for people who don't know: This also works for every other interactable thing in the game like pushing buttons, resupplying or grabbing stuff. Very handy for picking up fossils during a fly-by or catching a mineral that a friend tossed to you!
I'm new at the game so this rly helps
@@sodecdash9336 I just spam E, but thanks for letting us know!
-ressuplies pod can and will kill you if you stand under them.
-boarding the drop pod with the secondary objective items either in your inventory or your hand will not complete the objective. You need to deposit them before leaving
-holding "e" while falling lets you grab a cave Angel or a zipline. You don't need to time it.
-grabbing a zipline lets you escape the hold of mactera grabbers.
-pressing "x" makes Bosco either drop or throw whatever he's holding.
-do not freeze a Crassus detonator. There wont be any gold spawn
-a greenbeard is almost always welcome. A greenbeard who doesn't read the chat nor answer ISN'T!
-while looking at the map, press the spacebar to align yourself with the direction you're facing in the map overview
-the unknown horror is visible on the map (a black sphere)
-in "on site refinery", the leaks are visible on the map.
(particularly for impact axes)
-EPC mining can also be useful for bringing down the scout who died 50 meters above everyone.
(or the prospector, or starting an event)
-if you click with your laser pointer on the differents parts of the OMEN MODULAR EXTERMINATOR, you can see what weapons it is going to use. (bottom one is always the lasers. second and third floor can be any combination of drones/heavy burster/twin slicer)
-in "on site refinery", do the secondary objective BEFORE starting the refinery (especially if it involves gunk seeds). the bugs will certainly overwhelm you after the liquide morkite is safe.
-as engineer, please plug the hole created by the ressuply pod, especially if close to the uplink or the fuel pod
-as engineer, "turret whip" will also work on other engineers' turrets. (not sure about the overclock "turret discharge" or "turret arc" for the stubby voltaic SMG though)
-as engineer, please set up plateforms just above your eyes above the OMEN MODULAR EXTERMINATOR buttons (not stacking them on top of each other.) this will (hopefully) negate the lasers cutting your ankles but you will activate the buttons
-"repellant additive" can also be used to funel the bugs on your proximity mines, make sure to use this strategically.
(also, management is tired of buying new ones each time you go on a mission)
-as scout without an engi (or a bad one), you can hang on the wall above the gold you want to mine, then call Molly. She'll come right under your feet and you will be able to start mining.
-as driller, "hardened drill tips" in the tier 1 upgrade of your drills only upgrades your REAL drill speed by 20%, not 50. ("Drilling in the name of" made a good video about this)
-as driller, drill a tunnel in which the crasus detonator can explode. (you're a dwarf after all, express your love for gold)
-if you are using a weapon overclock that does something with bullets when they are hitting the ground (bounce elsewhere or convert to electro/cryo minelets), use blow through rounds as well: you will hit your ennemy, and then the bullet will have its interaction with the ground as well.
-do not, under any circumstances, tell management you are in possession of a weapon overclock.
Thanks for all the extra tips!
mabye you dont know or didnt read the stats/description, but yes the backbreaker stout is for carry speed, in terms for perks though, there is. strong arm perk does flare throwing and carry throwing distance, unstoppable perk does 50% resistance to slowdown effects (like the sludge in fugus bogs) and give i think up to 30% increase in movement speed while carrying.
tldr; the perk unstoppable is like the beer backbreaker stout, not strong arm
also i run unstoppable for escort so i can carry doreta, with that perk i can outrun the bugs without throwing her at all
you can toggle engineer turrets?? more tricks I did not know about.
That turret switching tip will really come in handy, thanks for the tips!
Yeah that is awesome!
As a beginner at Deep Rock, this primer was well executed and very informative. No BS. No yammering on. Straight and to the point. I thank you and my ADHD thanks you. Excellent video! I appreciate you!
Thank you very much! Glad that it could help you!
My adhd is also thankful
Tip 101: if one of the liquid morkite geysers in a on-site refining mission is more than 100 meters DIRECTLY ABOVE the refinery, then just abandon the mission, ~4k credits is not worth 47 minutes of your life.
24:51 bro made the cleanest transition known to man and thought we wouldn’t notice?
Had that 1.53% chance of a dreadnought pop today. We were doing a hacking pod. At the end of a point extraction. The bugs were already constant, but when the dread showed up? Pandemonium. I don’t even know how we got the data cube and made it to the pod. It was very rock and stone
That can be pretty scary. Glad that you made it out.
god dreadnoughts showing up are terrifying when it isnt an elimination mission, probably due to lack of preparation.
Rock and Stone to the bone!
DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE?
For number 75 let's say you have to deposit one aplaca bloom for the secondary mission and you keep it in your inventory and do not deposit it and take the dropship, you will fail the secondary mission. You need to deposit it before boarding.
Yeah, secondaries and beer plants have to be deposited to count.
Yes secondary objectives do need to be deposited.
Aplaca? Hehe
Some Additions to Tips
6. 1:40 Thin Containment Field can also be broken by other dangerous projectiles such as the acid attack from a Spitter or Menace.
9. 2:43 Iron Will is especially helpful when combined with the perks Field Medic, Resuppler, and Vampire.
19. 5:58 Something I would recommend to change in the settings is to enable Toggle
Laser Pointer and Terrain Scanner.
66. 19:06 Specifically Mutators (just like Hazard Level, Mission Length and Complexity) contribute to the Hazard bonus which is what Credits, XP and crafting minerals are multiplyed by at the end of the mission
72. 20:33 To my knowledge Dreadnought swarms will only happen on Mining, Point Extraction, or Refinery Missions. I'm completely sure they won't show up during a Salvage, Elimination, Escort or Industrial Sabotage mission, but they could show up during Egg Hunts.
Thanks for the extra tips!
Great tips. Thanks!
For 59 you can also pet Doretta’s ‘head’ and Hacksy! Be sure to do so, they work hard and deserve some love for it
If you want to challenge yourself, drink a blackout stout then quickly start the mission as soon as possible, you should blackout AFTER it hits 0. This sometimes causes the drunk effect to stay active the entire expedition.
yeah, I drank it once the drop pod already started going down. not the experience I am going to repeat, ever
Good tip!
I'm playing on PS5. Any one knows if that function exists there to and how to activate it?
@@janachten3167 On PC we hold tab down to have the map open, then to align yourself with the new direction the we hit spacebar which is also jump. So, hopefully the binding is the same. Probably can also just open up the map spin it a different direction and then spam other buttons until one works assuming there is a console option for this binding which I assume there would be.
On console you hold A / X
@@janachten3167 I'm on PC but I would suggest while viewing the map look at the bottom of the screen to check for a tool tip indicating what button to press.
Another tip regarding pipelines: if you fall from a high place directly onto a pileline, you can keep your E key pressed and, upon touching the rail, you'll immediately slide and avoid any and all fall damage, no matter your fall velocity or height. Pretty useful for all classes not called Scout!
Yeah that is a good tip!
Something to keep in mind the minigun reload animation is purely cosmetic and any decrease in heat is placebo.
I just started playing the game this weekend and I'm having a blast!
There are three things I learned right away:
1. The community is really nice and helpful towards new players! Thank you! ❤
2. You have to spam ROCK AND STONE as much as possible.
3. When you find a big chunk of gold you don't deposit it right away. You all gather around it with the laser pointers and yell "We're rich!!"
That is called the richual.
I still think pumpjacks should give O2 on low oxygen, it gets real rough otherwise. Especially on tough biomes like the bough
That would be nice.
Been playing with a group pretty consistently since launch on playstation last month. This channel has been real helpful, especially with the overclock guides and such.
Keep up the great work!
Glad to help
One thing that I would add on to number 73 is that you can also have BOSCO mine the laser pillars as well when you’re solo in those Dozer missions 😂👏
Yeah that is true, it is also nice to mine it with the EPC or the C4.
Thanks for the extra tips!
Thanks for the extra Tips!
A little fall damage tip for brand new players who chose the scout path, when falling you can use the grappling hook and shoot the ground below you when it’s reachable but you cannot use it if you went high WITH it unless you work on a good charge rate.
Yeah that is great to know!
Yeah totally agree with that!
Tip 47 about the minigun cooling down faster when spun in false.
Yes, that is a great way to explain it.
For tip 79 and resupplies, on my first multiplayer mission with randoms, the graybeard called in 3 resupply pods (one for each player, or just 4 resupplies each)…
During the boss fight, when I went to get my 3rd resupply (of the whole mission), I realized they were all empty.
The other greenbeard (lower level than even me) had taken not only all of his but also my own (and probably some of the graybeard’s).
It’s not rocket science, it’s basic math 😂 I am a greenbeard and even I can tell that you have to freakin share lmao…
It can be forgiven, sure, but remember that if you take everyone else’s ammo, you also take away their fun because they can’t do anything anymore.
With tip 43, you can also freeze the Crassus before it dies and get the same effect. This also cancels out the gold crater that a Crassus leaves behind, so make sure your Cryo driller knows not to do this
Also I did not know about Goo negating falling damage!
Yeah you want to get that gold! I also wasn't aware of the goo up until a few weeks ago.
I had no idea about the dreadnaught thing until one spawned in my escort duty and destroyed Dotty. It’s also the only time I’ve ever lost due to Dorretta being destroyed
That is scary when that happens!
If you're piss drunk and don't want to be on missions, order a Leaflover's Special. The perk buzzkill will get you sober in a jiffy
I think you didn't spell Black Out Stout quite right.
@@ReapeeRon it's early still, so I'm not sure if you're being serious or not :p in case you are, try it. Drink 2 beers til you are tipsy then order a Leaflover's. No more drunk
Only elves drink Leaf Lovers. Dwarves either choose Blackout Stout, or jump in the barrel game ring, to sober up.
For Tip 53, an easy way to find these are by looking at the map for the trail in the ceiling (similar to the ones made by drop pods you call in)
Yeah that helps.
Just an edit for tip #5: Hoverboots does no fire damage but does apply heat. (The difference is heat is what heats up enemies, and fire damage is simply a damage type that some enemies may or may not be weak or resistant to)
Also #49 edit, that's the last pointer. The terrain scanner is the map that you open up
That is true, on both accounts.
Thanks a lot! Rock and Stone!
After only "200" hours i still learned a couple of new things. Thanks dude.
No problem, glad that it could help out.
I've played Deep Rock Galactic for over 600 hours. not ONCE did I EVER notice #76 happening, but I know that even with little nitra veins, salvage missions have always felt manageable on resupply pods. I feel so confused, how this was never something I acknowledged or noticed.
Yeah that isn't something you really would think about, you just know that you get gold and nitra from it.
Same man, 622hrs played and I didnt notice this one lol
Once again a great video. Well structured and informative accompanied by your sunny attitude. You light up these infested caves like no one before you. Thank you, Rock and Stone.
Thank you kindly! Rock and Stone!
Excellent video, add one, when you are doing missions to protect the bulldozer, you can simply with a driller drill in the direction 220 and it will take you right to the core. This takes a bit of the excitement out of the game, but allows you to clear areas before bringing in the bulldozer.
I’m a PlayStation player that just got the game and have been having a blast! Rock and stone!
Awesome to hear! Rock and Stone!
Yeah this is a great hint.
Much appreciated! Rock and Stone!
Don't overthink it. Just play the game and have fun.
Tip 101:When you see a Mushroom spam mark it.
You can put personal waypoints by pressing Use key while using the laser pointer. Useful for Driller if you are doing rival data deposit hacking or On-site refining where you can place the way point on the objective and then drill precisely towards the objective.
Yeah, I forget to do that.
This is one detailed video that everyone, grey or green should watch. Major props Ron, keep up the kick ass DRG videos!
Thanks, I am pretty proud of this one.
Awesome vid, this must have taken forever to make. New to Deep Rock since the ps launch and your videos have been a huge help! Rock and stone!
Thanks, and yeah this took awhile to make!
Great tips, thank you! Speaking of common courtesy, I once had a guy pop a dreadnought egg before we were ready and then leave the session.... we were on haz 4 with 3 dreadnoughts and he totally screwed us all over since we were still looking for nitra to resupply before the fight..
Sorry to hear that.
For the floating rocks against engineer platforms I think they nerfed this tactic since now when the omaron explodes between phases it also ruins your platforms too.
You’d have to put those platforms up very fast when that phase begins which def would be hard to do.
Yeah that is true.
You just have to prepare a bridge, just outside the Omaron’s range, then create the roof just as the first stage starts. Depends heavily on terrain, but if you have the ammo for it, it’s easy.
with almost 1000hours in DRG, I still learn a few things in this video. great job!
I think every miner should watch this!
Wow, thanks!
Thanks!
Really!? I don't think that I have ever noticed that before.
Yeah that is a good tip too.
Me as a noob: Wait, you can throw your pickaxes?
Wait... I have a pickaxe?!
Tip 101 you can use an online savegame editor to save you a bunch of grinding, and get all the OCs so you can play
When doing the pickaxe event you can also tame ebonsteves that are invulnerable to enemy attacks and FF, but disappear after the event is over
EDIT: This was unfortunately patched!
That was patched out I think.
Oof
Okay i only read the title and already LOVE this video. I'll share this will my my fellow dwarfes 😎
Hope you enjoy it!
Super comprehensive and informative! You can see that you put in a lot of work into this Video, good job Ron! Actually the best DRG content creater out there!!
Thank you very much!
I would agree with both of those.
I never knew the drills worked on vampire or impact axes. That's changing my perks on driller as that's a new one tbh.
Yeah it is really nice that they do.
I have played over 200 hours, and this video still had heaps of useful tips I did not know! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
#71 Leaving minerals in your pockets while leaving does automatically get added to you credits, but it doesn't get added to XP for some reason. Unless of course this was fixed recently that I'm unaware of
Yeah I wasn't aware of that at the time.
101. If you fully drink a blackout stout before the mission starts you will have maximum and permanent drunkenness for that entire mission
You can do that!
I just got into DRG last weekend when it was free to play, this video was dope! Thank you for putting it together!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just started playing the game, you have no idea how much these tips helped my gameplay. Thank you!!!!
I have over 600 hours in the game, and I had never noticed repairing mini-mules gave you gold and nitra.
It's easy to overlook.
From what I have seen the Plasma Burster mod on the Hurricane is working as intended. It wrecks anything airborne as the missiles pierce, turn around since your targeting is still on the airborne enemy, then keeps repeating the process.
Yeah maybe it seems a little strange how strong it is against the Rocks.
Thanks!
Yeah that is a handy trick too. Thanks!
It feels like a lot of dwarves either don't understand or don't care that popping an egg spawns a swarm.
I dread Egg missions because there's always that guy that wants to rush. They'll pop yet another egg with no resupplies and a double swarm already breathing down their necks.
Yeah that can be tough.
Another use for the platform gun on escort missions, you can use it on the lasers, use 2-3 to reach the top amd you only need to break the top bit for it to stop, and if any others are close to one you already have platforms and can jump to the nearest one
Yeah that is useful too!
RnS!
Thanks, for the extra tips and I am glad that there was a few things here that you didn't know! Rock and Stone Brother.
Over 9k subscribers, you need another 9k, you got this man
Thanks Jeff!
Yeah thought that was a thing in this game. Thanks!
Tip 101: If a fellow dwarf is frozen, you can pickaxe them to progress their unfreeze progress by a large chunk
Yes that is helpful.
Thanks, will do!
Great Video! There's a ton of good information for new players. Following just a few of the 100 tips will improve your gameplay. Very impressed that you did a full 100 tips.
Glad I could help!
Close the door to your room when using the CRISPR on Driller. You may not actually notice your own maniacal laughter, but everyone else in hearing distance will.
Don't worry about it my neighbors already think I am insane.
I have over 900 hours in this game, but there was 7 tips even I didn't know. Love these tips videos. Thank you for making this
Glad you enjoyed!
Wow 300 hours in and I had no idea the mini mules gave you nitra and gold for fixing them, great video ron. I wish this video was out when I started
Glad it helped
200 hours and I didn't know half these 😂 great video really love the attention to detail DRG has.
Glad it was helpful!
For Tip 73, I like to use the RJ250 Compound on your 40mm to break the beam crystals. A nice well placed shot does the trick. Lots of ammo, fun mod, and useful if your teams a little, uhhh, off.
_"You can mine very fast with the C4, but the minerals will go flying everywhere"_
*"Is it faster to mine with the C4?"*
*"Well yes, but actually no"*
It's great for mining oil shale!
You can deposit on the side of the ship if you didnt finish the secondary mission, it might even be suggested sometimes when calling Molly when it goes to the ship
That is true, and another great tip!
thank you for the vid. im lvl 500 but didnt know about the reload animation cancel and the drill block trick xd always good to know new stuff
btw, not sure if you explained this but you can cancel mining animation releasing the mine button right after the hit, immediately starting next mining cycle. if well executed, may save some precious frames. Also works offensively when hitting enemies, may also help a bit when triggering vampire perk.
Needs a bit of practice otherwise you lose some cycles by releasing earlier
Thanks, and yeah you can get some good value out of the mining animation cancels.
Awesome!
#49, terrain scanner is the map, you're talking about the laser pointer
going over the last tip
you can just shoot the spitball
so when you're driller you don't need to pull out your drills to block the shot
you can just shoot it
more preferably with the pistol or plasma charger but the sludge cannon and I believe the flamethrower works too
as well as all the other classes' weapons
only weapon I know of that doesn't work is the Microwave Gun
That is true, those do work too.
That hover boots thing saved my ass a few times when I fall really far. Sometimes I've drilled through a rock and just fell because it was a hole on the other side. On xbox its hold Y
Yeah it can be pretty nice!
#5 (hoverboots as a weapon) also applies to the jet-boots that can sometimes be found in a mission.
(and is easier to trigger, most of the time)
One thing I found out the hard way - once Mission Control says "lift off: or something indicating that the pod is leaving, even if you manage to get in after that, you are considered lost and will not contribute to survival bonus of the mission.
Yeah that is true, sorry to hear that.
2:58 iron will with a vampire driller. :O
im gonna have to experiment with that. cyro driller vampire works wonders.
It can be pretty strong.
@@ReapeeRon especially during the Ebonite Mutation. driller is basically the powerhouse during that.
I actually never knew about the extra morkite thing, that might come in handy
67. I had someone mine an entire crassus detonator with epc while my back was turned and I had pots o gold, tragic
So sad.
I've played a fair bit now, and I still learned a few things. I didn't know you could fly with cave angels...
when you already knew about tip 50 and use it religiously for point extraction "Bosco is your best friend" Also he can be used to kill fester flees if you don't want to chase them. and if you're running an electric Stubby build you can get the enemy low on health and 1 shot them with the basic pickaxe attack saves me around 4 shots perclip.
Awesome!
When you fall hold E ( dont need spam it ) to grap to anything like a zipline or an edge.
When you open your map press space to reposition ur character where you looking.
Some of these really helped out, because I was telling my friends some of the wrong things. Thanks for these tips and clearing up my confusion.
Glad to hear it!
71. I've seen that gold counts for money, but minerals in your pockets don't count for XP unless deposited. Also carried items like data cubes don't count unless deposited.
That is true, was not fully aware of that when I made this video.
