Hey Nick, I agree with you on the way the grip feels and it being snappy. I owned the original MC9, and traded it in on a M&P Shield Plus for that very reason. Much more pleased with the M&P Shield Plus. I’m interested to see if you have more malfunctions during the 1000 round test and review! Thanks again for another great review, and your honesty…that means a lot!
I appreciate your opinion greatly. I concur with you on how a carry gun should operate out of the box. As a soldier from the early 90s to mid 2000's I am a creature of habit. I completely strip the gun, clean, inspect, address burs then lube then test... It's late 2024, every gun should run flawlessly out of the box, I agree.
@@averagemarksman It better, Your videos are sound and logical...Yet almost half our country isn't. I hope You are used to bring truth back to the gun world if not America.
Nick, I have shot some of the larger Caniks and found them to be snappy. I can only imagine that smaller one. I just thought it was me. Their triggers are nice but I always found them snappy. Needless to say almost 700 rounds and 1 malfunction is not bad in my opinion. Keep up the good work. Thumbs up.
Nick, 600+ rounds before a malfunction is very good. Thank you very much. You and your family have a beautiful and blessed week. LORD GOD Bless and stay vigilant.
Throw some talon grips on. It's a micro nine. We need something to hold on to. And that's particularly helpful to those with sweaty palms. The Shield Plus, to me, has the best texture. But I still added talon grips for extra traction.
Thanks again for the reviews! I had 2 FTF's as well, First 50 rounds, 1st w/ Blazer 115's, 2nd Blazer 124. Was using the 20 round extended mag from my SFX... testing mag compatibility. Could be the Mag as I believe it may also have created a pre-mature slide-lock on my TP9 SC. With only 50 rounds, it is a bit concerning to me. If in the heat of need, that could make a difference... even with all the military training I've had. Out of curiosity what is your favorite EDC / CCW? I believe you may have said you were a Shield+ carrier? Thanks again!
Listen man, you scared me a bit by the title🤣😭🤣😭🤣but I been watching this series since the jump, and im really glad to this new mc9 models running good since the hiccups with the mc9. My mc9 has no issues so far thank the lord, 4 caniks in and man, im glad i never went the glock route.
@@averagemarksman honestly please try that in the next video if possible. Would love to see. Sometime whenever i load only 4-5 in a 18 round mag, it fails to feed when inserting mag from a slide stop release.
I’m thinking the operator caused it. He just said his fingers keep hitting the slide stop lever. I can almost bet that is the root of it. I had a similar problem with a Kimber not wanting to go into battery after 800 plus rounds. I was convinced it was the gun and sold it. Had a friend with me at the range when I was having similar issues with his and he pointed out it was my hand position.
@ I can see your point but that is a static situation. Not the same as firing it. One issue in 700 rounds is not an issue in my opinion. Now my Kimber was a different story. I couldn’t go 50 rounds without a failure to go into battery. I am mere pointing out your dislike for the feel and how you pointed out how your hands fit the weapon may play a factor. I personally don’t like the Canik feel either. I like their triggers and that is it. Once again I do enjoy your content.
True about not returning. Mechanisms bumped during operation are often subject to failure to resume normal function afterward. Plus dirt, and there's the first malfunction of the run, @averagemarksman . Beards looking good. Get plenty of pictures of it that color 😸
I considered that but i had to rack the gun twice. You can hear it hit the stop when I let go racking the pistol. Slide stop issue. A little research shows that it is a known issue with various Canik models.
I"m gonna say, it was probably your finger pushing the slide stop under recoil? Interestingly, the longer slide seems to tame the perceived recoil some....easier to shoot This one , seems like an Sig 320 that shrunk.....same dynamic...., they rock back and forth in the hand....
The other day i said a friend had problems at 400 rounds. I was wrong it was at 700 (not kidding). He would have the exact thing u had and it started doing it very often. Canik knows there is a issue. If you get on canik mc9 threads you will see tons of issues. Thing that fixed it was a dpm systems recoil guide rod
@averagemarksman yeah it threw him for a loop! He couldnt beleive it ran good for that long before it started doing it. Cheers brutha, love your channel
@@DonaldPowell-k6z if I did bump it, when I racked it the first time it would have dropped. It was locked open. After some research - Canik has had issues like this on several models.
Awww Man... No A.V. 1,000 round certification patch for the Canik MC9L. A little sad to see. Looks like the Springfield XD MOD 3 holds on to the current thousand round throne...
We addressed the malfunction in the following videos. The slide was stuck in the locked back position. The gun had to be racked multiple times with a loaded magazine to drop the slide.
Honestly, that's kinda disappointing. If the 700 rounds was spread out through a few months without the gun being cleaned or lubricated, I would understand, but it shouldn't have had a failure within a week. Hopefully, it was a fluke and the next 300 go smoothly.

I’m a big fan of the Shield Plus. I’ve also been carrying to BG 2.0 a ton because it’s so light. I have it on in the last few videos while shooting.
