Well tbf if they're not that desperate to withdraw all of their money, I must say they're already well off because they're not tempted to take it all, and also I bet they're someone big backing him/her/them up because to launder that so much money and not even a trace of it is really something else
If they sent it to an exchange they did it so they could transfer it to a new wallet without the public being able to follow it, and did it under a fake account / stolen ID
Kira, one thing you should consider is that those are not just transfers, they could be (and most likely are) payments sometimes. If you know where to look there are services that deal exclusively in coin, cutting out the government from the equation. Coin being one of the better ways to trade for services/products without having governments track ur activity (especially when it's less than legal) or taking their often ridiculously sizable cut.

I wonder how many accounts or wallets are out there are just dead wallets. Just wallets that are lost to people or forgotten about even if someone is no longer around to gain access to that wallet. Then the money just sits with no one able to get it or cash it out.
Just from my own experience I can assure you that there's big % of BTC that is gone for good. I was mining BTC on my gaming pc the very first months of its creation, just for the sake of novelty. So did my friends who found out about it. Back in a day you could mine hundreds if not thousands of BTC a day... But at that point there was no real value anyone could perceive in it. The only thing you could buy with it was drugs on Tor network. But even that was sketchy af, because we were young and even if we wanted to try ordering something it was too scary to even attempt such thing being delivered to your address so, I stopped mining. I bet that my wallet alone would account for a small percentage of all of the BTC market. Unfortunately, that wallet could never be recovered.
I'm setting here in Canada with tears in my eyes from thanking so hard.. this is brilliant on so many levels. THANKS YOU MR Swingnotch on the Internet.. if you never caused a scammer to have a heart attack or burst aneurysm, this one hundred k recovery for sure came pretty close.. keep it up, please...
Wow, congratulations on your impressive investment success! Your discipline and focus on delayed gratification is truly inspiring. I'm curious, what are some of the key factors that you consider when making investment decisions? Do you have any tips for those of us who are just starting to dip our toes into the world of investing? Thanks for sharing your story!
Yeah, back when it was worth absolutely nothing and 10k bitcoin could be mined in 3 1/2 days. That's nothing but a win win for both sides - the guy got pizza for something that was worth nothing and what he got back instantly and the guy who sold it to him got rich as well for finding it a fun idea (if he kept it for long enough). Let that part sink in.
Every time i think about it, i wanna rope. I couldve been free. My entire family couldve been free. We're only ever getting worse off. There is no escape. It was over before it even began. No, "beginning" was never a possibility in the first place.

Any 'decentralised' currency that allows the project owners to blacklist or seize is not a decentralised currency, and is worthless to me. If you fuck up and lose $500 million by being an idiot, that's on you dude.
tbf there is a handful of cryptocurrencies that are truly decentralized and untrackable, if i was to steal a big amount of crypto i would exchange it for monero and then slowly sell those off.
To be fair it's not like they can flip a switch and seize it. You'd have to send it to an online wallet/exchange and even then only if the exchange cooperates with the freeze/seize request.
you do realize that those are off ramps and you have no idea what you are talking about, recovering hacks currency through forking of the chain is super super fucking hard and creates problems and most people won't be behind it and thus are fucked.
Bless you Kira keep doing what you're doing many of us mere mortals need reminders of what some people do to other people in the name of greed. Nah man they increase premiums and make you and I non thieves cover their real and forecasted losses

Maybe that’s the hackers goal is to launder the money slowly over the years instead of all within one year. That way if you keep having new addresses funneling money then it would get lost over time? This is a crazy story and great work!
What if the real goal was to make all those bitcoins unavailaible, thus making them even more rare and driving the price up ? Meanwhile the hackers make money with legal bitcoins on the other side. It's like hoarding a reserve of diamonds to make them artificially rarer and more expensive. That's how cryptos work, right ? I'm not an expert.
I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this. Because you're right. The worst thing that you can feel is hopelessness. And I hope that someone who is on the verge of losing hope finds *sentinel Recover* and realizes that as long as you're still alive and breathing, there's a chance, there's HOPE that the future is brighter then the present day.
What if they are waiting for the statute of limitations to run out, I checked and its only 15 years in Japan or 30 years if the crime is punishable by Life imprisonment. So in 9 more years they can freely spend the cash and who knows how much its going to be worth by then billions maybe, that kind of money has a lot of power attached to it
Glad to see Kira using the open distributed ledger for his investigation and believing everything he is seeing. Crypto is all suppose to be a scam though. Also, Tornado Cash did not tumble BTC (just an FYI). TORN is/was an ETH project that at best could tumble WBTC. So one would have to put the BTC in a virtual machine that would give WBTC, then you would have to tumble through TORN. Correct me if I am wrong.

As an independent woman I started my first investment plan with just a $1000 and now earning weekly income of $4830 in cryptocurrency exchange with my personal broker.
I had problem comprehending trading in general. I tried watching other UA-cam trading channels, but they made the concepts more complicated. I was almost giving up until when i discovered content and explain everything in detail. The videos are easy to follow
I've been making a lot of looses trying to make profit trading. I thought trading on a demo account is just like trading the real market. Can anyone help me out or at least advise me on what to do?
Trading on a demo account can definitely feel similar to the real market, but there are some differences. It's important to remember that trading involves risks and it's normal to face looses sometimes. One piece of advice is to start small and gradually increase your investments as you gain more experience and confidence. It might also be helpful to seek guidance from experienced traders or do some research on different trading strategies.

In Japan serious crimes (murder etc.) expire after 30 years.. i believe thats their plan. To move the money 30 years and then cash out without consequences.
Would be the smart thing to do, if they’re not old they could just wait out the 30 years then cash out with no consequences and live the rest of their life, set for life. With generational wealth that will be passed down, getting away with one of the greatest crypto hacks of all time
I just down understand it, do they keep moving the money in hopes that they will be able to later use the moves to obscure it? Are the thieves hoping for some new tech that facilitates this?
Depending on where they live, they could also be waiting for any statute of limitations to be reached. In the US, it’s a 5 year limit for grand larceny and for any cyber crime.
@@bubba99009 honestly: probably not worth the risk. if you got that much money around and know that you can actually get away with it, why take the remaining risk to get it early? Even if you're working at McDonalds you can still live like that for a few years before moving into your new mansion.
Possible explanation here is that it’s not the hackers sending coins to the exchanges - they could have done a lot more, lower profile, swaps for other assets, or leveraged defi marketplaces, or even done things like funding NFT projects that would have let the funds eventually land with someone who could plausibly claim they didn’t know the funds were stolen, nor the actual identity of who provided them, and weren’t under any obligation to do the research required to figure that out.
The bitcoin was collected into a handful of addresses and the filtering to new addresses is entirely consistent with every other hack you can see with analysis. Most of the bitcoin you can see sitting at an end location as of right now, so that isn't a plausible or possible explanation unfortunately.
Theyre moving and being mined each time they move.... They stole that, created an exchange, they're now moving all of this and getting paid legally by passing it through their own miner and getting paid to move their own money wallet to wallet ...
It may be as simple as the original hackers no longer having a decent chunk of those funds - could they not have spent it at places that accept bitcoin? This would also explain why so much is sitting in exchanges…

P.S. my mom's had several scam calls since, but now she enjoys playing with them....hoping she'll get more calls. Maybe she'll join you someday in the People's Center...

What makes this amazing is that in Japanese business you are expected to apologize publicly (a volunteer embarrassment) and you would never see any other crypto exchange do this.
It’s not embarrassing, it’s part of their culture.

Same here until I read this. WTF? That's half a billion!

As far as I can tell, looks like an inside job. One wallet, one coin, one malware, it almost sounds too easy.
not one wallet but thousands lol and the fact these funds are still being moved around its almost like they are trying to recover all lost funds using the stolen funds and with time everyone will forget and boom cashout big time

Very fascinating stuff. Great video and love the visuals!

Thanks Kira for educating us
A well-crafted and insightful video that effectively conveys its message.
Any 'decentralised' currency that allows the project owners to blacklist or seize is not a decentralised currency, and is worthless to me. If you fuck up and lose $500 million by being an idiot, that's on you dude.
Exactly, it’s not decentralized at all. Not anymore, anyway.
Reasons why crypto is a joke
tbf there is a handful of cryptocurrencies that are truly decentralized and untrackable, if i was to steal a big amount of crypto i would exchange it for monero and then slowly sell those off.
A bit how people have robin hood syndrome and don't realize those costs always get passed down. Someone scams insurance or rob a shop and people think oh its the insurance company or underwriters that suffer. Nah man they increase premiums and make you and I non thieves cover their real and forecasted losses
Y’all should stop calling everything “the bare minimum” when it’s literally not. Respect is the bare minimum, actually going out of your way to comfort and have an open ear for someone isn’t. Hearing these people's voices over the phone so thrilled to be evil, almost giddy sounding, is utterly disgusting. Thank you *STRONGWIDGET* all you and your team does to shut them scammers down.
Which voices?
Maybe that’s the hackers goal is to launder the money slowly over the years instead of all within one year. That way if you keep having new addresses funneling money then it would get lost over time?
This is a crazy story and great work!
What if the real goal was to make all those bitcoins unavailaible, thus making them even more rare and driving the price up ? Meanwhile the hackers make money with legal bitcoins on the other side. It's like hoarding a reserve of diamonds to make them artificially rarer and more expensive.
That's how cryptos work, right ? I'm not an expert.
Makes Sense!
If your goal is to steal the money that is one thing, but if your goal is to take away someone else's access to the money they won.
One of your best videos so far. Nice one.

I will advise you should stop trading on your own if you keep losing.
If you can, then get a professional to trade for you i think that way your assets are more secure
I'd recommend Annabelle Hartfield, her profit is great even when there's a dip

In Japan serious crimes (murder etc.) expire after 30 years.. i believe thats their plan. To move the money 30 years and then cash out without consequences.
Would be the smart thing to do, if they’re not old they could just wait out the 30 years then cash out with no consequences and live the rest of their life, set for life. With generational wealth that will be passed down, getting away with one of the greatest crypto hacks of all time
wow, nicely done mate
love your work
Thankyou :)
I just down understand it, do they keep moving the money in hopes that they will be able to later use the moves to obscure it? Are the thieves hoping for some new tech that facilitates this?
Yea basically
Depending on where they live, they could also be waiting for any statute of limitations to be reached. In the US, it’s a 5 year limit for grand larceny and for any cyber crime.
Yea I'm not sure why they didn't start using mixers as soon as they became popular to start to hide the trail a bit.
@@bubba99009 honestly:
probably not worth the risk.
if you got that much money around and know that you can actually get away with it, why take the remaining risk to get it early? Even if you're working at McDonalds you can still live like that for a few years before moving into your new mansion.
Having Millions of Small accounts could give them the way to take out a smaller anmount like $20K every couple of days

An unknown entity? So, North Korea then?
Nk has pretty obvious tells, they move the money and start converting it really quickly. This doesn't fit any nation state Hackers.
Can’t they put into into monero ? And do a completely anonymous exchanges into other coins?
Theyre moving and being mined each time they move....
They stole that, created an exchange, they're now moving all of this and getting paid legally by passing it through their own miner and getting paid to move their own money wallet to wallet ...
Wow...just woooooow. And no one important has been caught??? WOOOOOOOW
