  • Video journalist Bianca-Maria Rathay reveals her top hacks for setting up the right environment for quality content.
Smartphones are at the heart of journalism today, giving reporters professional-quality audio and video for their multimedia news reports, podcasts, live-blogs and social media posts. The pandemic has only accelerated this trend with news organisations now reliant on journalists working from home with their mobile devices.
These changes in working practices are unlikely to be reversed, so in this masterclass, television journalist and videographer Bianca-Maria Rathay shows us how to set up our own home studios, revealing her top hacks for creating the right environment for quality content - from finding a space with the best acoustics and lighting to choosing the best equipment... without breaking the bank.
Trained as a video journalist, Bianca worked in journalism and TV for nearly 10 years as a television news reporter and online editor with RTL, Endemol Shine and Videovalis before setting up her mobile journalism training firm, SoHandy.
This online masterclass is brought to you by the Civic Journalism Lab in association with Newcastle University.
