This is probably the best video I found for my camaro on all UA-cam, he shows you how to basically cam your car and how to gain 16 horsepower which is quite a bit, thank you so much dude
It is a clutch By LUK. My speed Shop sourced it. It only has 3500 miles and the feel is stock, meaning it is not heavy or hard to engage. Overall I am pleased with it.
Has turning off the heat monitors caused worse performance for you? I have full headers and exhaust on my SS and always had the check engine light on. I saw you turn off the monitors for the sake of the cats and tried it myself and now my car pops and gurgles but it doesn’t feel as powerful as when it was just tuned without having touched the monitors.
I didn't experience any loss of power but when the car was eventually put on a dyno they did tell me there was a lot more power that can be added from this basic tune.
A ghost cam locks the variable cams into a position that replicates the sound a camed engine has. The V6 engine is a Dual overhead variable timing engine using 4 cams where as the V8 is not capable of variable timing and is run by a single cam. I makes it sound closer to that rumbling V8. Its a gimmick. I don't really use it much, Once in a while I will turn it on.
I did. remember this is not a part this is changing the tune of the engine. Any gain you get will cause a loss elsewhere. I have done another modification that brings some torque back but havent done my final runs yet to see how much my gains were for the video.
@@GregorySalvatore I saw on the phastek website that premium is only recommended but not required, but I’ll probably go with premium too for better performance overall, thanks!
yes but I had to provide proof I had tires that are rated at least V ( I think) in order for them to take it off. The V6 is capable of hitting 150ish mph and you need to have tires capable of those speeds to have it turned off. The RS package came with 20" wheels and a higher speed rating. Your car came with 18 and a lower speed rating tire from factory which is why it has a limiter.
@@GregorySalvatore My car has 20s on it after market and I just bought brand new continental DWS06 plus all season tires I believe they are rated at 168mph
sorry for the delay, I have been working a lot, there are headers available for the V6 and I have a link in the description. I REALLY enjoy them. The downside I found of the ghost cam I found is I have gotten a blinking engine light (REALLY NOT GOOD) I don't know if that is actually doing damage but it worrys me. It happens when it sits and idles for a longer period of time. I have the aggressive cam loaded. I don't leave it on all the time, really only when I want to show off.
The LFX cant because the headers and heads are one unit. And i dont have a ghost cam but id imagine it would play havoc on some of the electrical shit while its idling, alternator constantly going up and down and shit, might not put out consistent power maybe. Just at idle. And im just guessing, like i said, i dont have one. Also it kind of seems like something that can maybe start to cause you to get a little piston slap after a while. Just what i think. Probably wrong.
@@GregorySalvatore Will any windows based touchscreen pad with USB port work? Im asking only because I'll only use it once and will have no use for it after that. Plus i don't want to spend alot of money on it
yes. a tune is software so you have to give to get. the tune in my car caused torque to fall to gain hp. But I did get the torque back with the intake manifold spacer mod I did.
MIne are DNA Motoring Headers BUT beware bot a simple bolt on the Driver side had to be heated up and bent a little bit. It was touching the floor pan.
All I've read is a bunch of bs,about this lfx engine ,do this little engine really make 335bhp.What ever happen about gear ratio's and torque converters? WAITING
This is the LLT engine with 300 hp at the crank. The program I am using test for horsepower at the wheels. Gear ratios and torque converters can rob power which is why you have to do the conversion math. At stock, the 2010 V6 Camaro had a baseline of 300 at the crank and 250 at the wheels. Currently my car has about 370 at the crank and 300 at the wheels.
I find it amusing when you're talking about Forced Induction being "A huge expense" You've got almost full bolt-ons already. Headers? Those were in the neighborhood of what? $500~? Ram air intakes aren't cheap depending on brand, A exhaust system is anywhere from 1-2k unless you're buying really cheap stuff. Your tune was a few hundred, your clutch was probably a few hundred, again depending. Here is the question, are you doing all the install yourself? You're already 2k~ or more into this in parts, and supposedly getting a 45+ WHP gain. With all of that and the tune it's not completely out of the question. This also doesn't assume any costs from a shop installing these parts. I've got a '18 V6, and slapped a roots supercharger on it, and got 90WHP, however. That puts me about 360-370 to the wheel depending on the day. If I go to E85, injectors, and put in a catless downpipe and better exhaust, I can push to a 10lb pully and make 425WHP easily. The exhaust will be the most expensive part of that set up. Sure the supercharger was 2x the cost of your equipment(depending again on your totals) but I also am getting more than 2x the performance, before bolt-on changes. It's a trade off. Small costs, done in increments, or a large upfront cost for bigger power. You are easily set up now to handle a big single turbo, a centrifugal supercharger, or a roots supercharger, and you'll fly up to 400+WHP. Only thing you gotta watch is your EGT, and look for spark knock. Once you start chasing real power, you have a choice to make. Take me from me I'm addicted and I love and hate it. You either go all the way, and dump money into that little LFX, or you bite the bullet and trade up to the V8, which has more power to start with (from where you're currently at) and much bigger gains from bolt-ons. Also much more widespread platform support for modifications. P.S the ghost cam is fucking stupid. Just go to a major cam manufacturer and have them grind you a custom choppy cam, it's not very expensive, the install will be the bitch. You'll also see performance increases.
Not even close. The clutch needed to be replaced and I decided to upgrade while doing it. The price difference wasn't that much. All the other bolt ons I got for around a grand and either installed them myself or did it as part of an engine rebuild after spinning a bearing. So comparing a grand to a supercharger... i would go this route. Personally I think I would upgrade to a v8 before I supercharged the v6. But my dream camaro is the 6th gen zl1. Hey you guys seem very knowledgeable about making a v6 faster . I have a 2016 3.6 Lt . And I’d like to make the most out of it what’s the best way to go
@@jeremiahajman It all depends. If you want low cost, you can't make a huge difference. You can get a Trifecta/Overkill tune and get almost no noticeable changes except some throttle response. If you're willing to buy a full exhaust system (not a "cat back" that doesn't change much) in addition to getting a tune, you can squeeze a little more out. With how the LGX V6 is, you need to be willing to spend the money for Turbos/Centrifugal superchargers, or a Roots supercharger kit. That'll set you back 5-6k, but you'll be able to get 400WHP~ (that's 500 crank, stock is 335) Depending on what else you do and how hard you want to run the engine.
@@Z51MAELSTROM thank you for your insight . My plans are a borla dual back exhaust system , cold intake , and a tune (overkill, trifectaetc) which would you recommend. I don't know what you are looking at to determine that I didn't take it to the same rpm, in both cases I ran it to near redline (about 6500 rpm vs about 6800 according to the graph). I can only assume you are looking at the RPM at max power. That is not the rpm I ran the car to, it is the RPM where the maximum power is generated. This number is used to determine your best shift points.

Unfortunately the lfx engine doesnt allow that. You will have to reload the tune to put it in and take it out.
What is the set up for the tablet, tablet mount and display for the dyno?
it is a windows 10 based tablet mounted with 2 magnetic vent mounts and using realdash as the dyno with a bluetooth obd2 module
So since I added a catless downpipe and im currently getting the cel for the o2 sensor code, I can turn that off in the app?? I
Yes. The app upload allows you to turn off certain codes and keep them in the test cycle.
