Been watching 'Stros since those 100 loss seasons. I have NEVER seen Altuve so angry and demonstrative towards an ump
Mets fan here, but I love Altuve. Has he ever been ejected before? He's a very chill guy. Of course he was 100% correct here. Wasn't it reviewable?
@jimwerther one other time in 2016 ironically the ump the ejected him in that game was the crew chief in this game. But yeah occasionally he gets upset but if he is that upset then it's a you problem and not a him problem.
@jimwerther not sure if it's reviewable but probably not because there's a clear angle where it changes direction off his cleat.
He likely wanted to make up for his baserunning mistake in his previous at bat and then got robbed of that.
Ive never seen him act like that before and I've watched the stros my whole life

Players should be able to fine umpires for wrongful ejections
Pretty sure slamming your helmet down and loudly cussing is grounds for an ejection. And if you're saying because the ball went off Altuve's foot, that's not reviewable and impossible to see with the naked eye unless it takes off at a weird angle, which it didn't. That's MLB's fault, not the umps. Gotta make that reviewable, just like the ball hitting the knob of the bat, or the hand is reviewable.

@@xstros9086 Absolutely not. Do you have any idea how fast that happens? No way to see it other than replay. Our best chance was the ump hearing it make a weird sound when it hit Altuve's cleat or coming off at a weird angle.
It did hit his foot watching the replay but at least they won. I don't think I've ever seen Altuve that incensed but there's a first for everything I guess.

Home plate umpire shouldn't be brought back for any more games. Pretty shit showing from him overall. Strike zone was miniscule and the Altuve call was really bad.
He was terrible calling way off balls strikes. It’s pathetic what MLB calls “Umpires”.

Reading some of these comments, and one has me wondering why anyone assumes that because McCullers is on the IL that he is a missing piece? That guy has stayed on the IL since 2018 and hasn't come off it. I acknowledge the others, but if you haven't been paying attention to the ball club Lance McCullers Jr. has yet to play a full season since 2017.
Plus he pretty much tipped all his pitches in the world series in 2022, he can stay in the IL IMO
@@pothead8157 yall tripping hardddd. Must be casuals or new "fans" if you disrepect Lance. If he comes back this year or next or never it doesn't matter at this point.
Dude has put his body on the line so many times and didn't get proper treatment because of the lock out and played a pivotal role in both of our titles.
He stayed in to eat those innings and save our bullpen in 2022 even though his arm didn't have it. If he comes out and the bullpen has to throw 50+ more pitches, who knows what happens.
Not to mention how much he loves the city and gives back to it.
All reports say he's coming back this season so no need to hate on a dude trying to help the team just to hate.

Nicely done! Too bad you couldn't do this last year or earlier this year. Also, I'm really tired of watching Astros Lopez to first base when they are giving the opposing team a 'gimme.' we pay a lot of money for tickets, and we don't get a good product some of the time. Runner should always spread the first base like they mean it. Jose altuve is the worst offender. I watch the play on yesterday's game against the Mets where he could have beaten the throw.
