- In this video I show you how to download and install BMW Map Updates yourself using a USB stick. The process is very easy and you can save hundreds of dollars.
Let me be clear that it is illegal to download pirated copies of maps from the internet, so please do your research and make sure you are buying your maps and FSC code from an honest and legitimate supplier.
I take no responsibility for any ramifications from the purchasing or downloading of illegal materials.

hi, where did you manage to download from please?
You are lucky with Australia/NZ Next maps since they are one folder that easily fits 32GB USB stick. With Europe Next maps there are 5 folders in total larger than 32GB. So you can either buy a 64GB stick or use 32GB stick where you don't have all the folder but lets say first 4, and then when NBT requires the 5th one, you can delete one of the previous 4 folders and put a 5th one on the stick, reinsert the stick and continue.

Windows OS, uses some memory USB stick as "Local Drive" (it makes hidden backup files on stick), make sure that turn off that feature, and re-format usb stick
For anyone that has the CIC system, note that you need to put the USB drive in the socket in the glove compartment, not the socket next to the aux socket.
What if I don’t have a USB in my glove box? That parts got a blank for me
Is the CIC original or retrofitted? Maybe someone forgot to retrofit the USB socket? Or you actually have NBT or Champ2 and can use the normal USB socket.
@@tomvleeuwen It's NBT, Got it wrong. but its factory NBT and no USB in the glove box, only 1 in the arm rest

So glad I got the navigation on my x3 updated! Currently running the latest 2020-1 map data! I'm also a tech savvy person so with a little research I was able to generate my own FSC code instead of paying those websites!!

Hi I just purchased a 2012 BMW X5.
My navigation version is a 2011 North America, There is no Next or NBT_L15184A.
I ordered a Map and received an FSC code, and instructions.
First issue is finding a flash drive that is 64gb 2.0 usb FAT32 (tried formatting software to be able to convert enfat to fat32).
The instructions send me to a site where I can download the 2022 Updated map. At this point I am not sure if my current software has the capability to be updated.
Any advice would be great.
Update sorry for delay. I was able to finally configure a flashdrive Hp 2gb to FAT32. I plugged into my USB in the Glove compartment (X5,) and was able to add the FSC code and it downloaded perfectly.
Looking to Update to Map to 2023, any recommendations where to locate the map download?
Do you have to keep the engine running to upload the upgrade or is it ok just to have the ignition switched on?
Ignition is fine for this.
What if you have Europe maps on your navigation and need to load N. America? Is it the same process?
Yes you just need to load the correct maps for your region.

Hi boosted, When i input the USB into the car, its asks if i want to update on which i click yes, but then im prompted with "please insert USB devicewwith correct activation code"? I have the FSC code but it doesn't even give me the option to input it?

Hey guys need some info, I have a 2010 X1 and I want to update the idrive system, I want to know if after the update I'll have the speed limit displayed, otherwise i don't really care for the update.
As my understanding, the speed limit comes from the Speed Limit street signs. The car must have camera where it can reads those and displays the speed limit to you. the navigation alone will not be able to give you the speed limit numbers.

I have a BMW 2015 2 Series, running EUROPE ROUTE WEST maps dated 2015. When I put the USB in, nothing happens. I have copied the files to the root of the stick, nothing happens
did you format the USB stick to fat32 format first ?

Put on a usb key. Plugged in.
But at the setting Map on the screen
I did not have choice menu like you in your vid.

I have just downloaded genuine from BMW for my 2016 340i but can for the life of me not get anything to read from the USB drive. The cable charges phones etc. but I can't seem to get any media to ready. I will note that the car was imported from Australia. Any ideas?
Need to make sure the USB is formatted to fat32 , then you should be good to go. Also use the USB in the glove box not the center console.
I am really strugling to get FSC codes. I got the map, but everybody wants money for FSC codes? Can anyone make a hint?
I was quoted $450 bucks to update the navigation map to North America (2019) for my 2011 328i Xdrive! 😤 What a freaking rip off! For that price, that map update better lead me to a pot of gold.😂

G don’t think there would be a difference between the maps on the normal cars (SE, Sportline etc) the the M Sportpaket cars
Bmw are assh as a company. In France all car manufacturers nav map updates are free and no hassle, it's all on the manufacturer website, no third party involved. Since Bmw wants to rip off people i understand why people will circumvent and screw bmw to get the update free.
What if BMW finds out I didn't pay for them when I need service? Will they refuse to help?
There’s no way for them to tell. It’s still a genuine activation.

I haven’t tried changing regions but theoretically it should work as long as you have an FSC code.

can bmw dealer see if its a bought map update or downloaded when the car is in for service?
They can see it’s been updated obviously but not where you sourced the files from.
@@boostedmedia Every BMW Driver with an BMW Account and Connected Drive Account has a Purchase and other history. So yes they can und you too, usually anything you so with BMW involving any of their services is stored in their Database. In case they have to they will quickly find out you couldn't have the e.g. map update. Also, in case something goes wrong you are screwed and they will refuse to help for free

how long does it take for prompt? I sat for like 5 minutes on nav still nothing. files are all in order drive is 2.0 and 16gb. tried arm rest and glove box. mine is CIC and i only have 1 folder named pkgdb and a file on the outside named config. Please help.

I’ve just purchased my maps and code from BMW website….downloaded them on to a memory stick and plugged it into the car. Nothing happens and there is no prompt to install new maps! The car does not reaction to usb being inserted….I’ve tried all sorts of way but there’s nothing happening! Help!

I used the process But my controller will not let me input a lower case letter which is in my FSC code ERG!
You should be able to switch between upper and lower case on the control wheel.

Not possible without additional hardware retrofitting.

How much woudl this all cost, hardware retrofit plus software from a company, not BMW since we both know they will charge alot.

@@aymanmoazin2279 it will depend on the car model. In my scenario my car is a 2013 model and thus BMW didn't have a map for Lebanon. Checking with the Bassoul Hneine it was made available in 2014 models and above.
