Do a reaction to Mexican banda
@@maggiereneemusic have you reviewed "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"? If not , I will probably sponsor that.
Grand Funk Railroad - I Can Feel Him In The Morning .... Beautiful deep song by a very talanted 3 piece band lead by Mark Farner lead vocals and lead guitar.
Could you please react to Juan Carlos "Buwan". Thanks a lot.
My dad passed in 2004. I am so grateful that the last words I got to say, both to his face at my last visit and in the phone call the evening before he died, were "I love you, Dad."
This guy was a master balladeer. His music was absolutely beautiful.
Rest In Peace.
Dan was an amazing lyricist. He was a poet and you can't go wrong looking at more than the big 3 that he's known for.
I totally agree. I love Nether Lands - but sadly I cannot find a video of Dan singing this song. (True for many of his songs. Only seems to be the poor quality, outdoor concert videos.). 😔
Dan's dad was known in our town, where he left a legacy leading high school and civic orchestras. Kudos.
My dad passed 13 years ago and this song, along with Run For the Roses (a song about the Kentucky Derby) still hit hard every time I hear them. Dad was a historian, a veteran, a horse racing enthusiast and an overall incredible person. Some things just hit harder than others and this is one of those that puts me in a melancholy mood of memories.
One of my all time favorite songs. I lost my dad in December, 2023 and I think of him every time I hear this.
This song is a beautiful tribute, and a reminder or us all that we are not promised tomorrow. Reach out/visit with your loved ones, and say "I love you" as much as possible. No one gets tired of hearing it.
I still can’t hear that song without tearing up.
Same here.
Me either...love you Dad...
I cry every time I hear this song. When he sings the line "and papa I don't think I said I love you near enough" it breaks me. Thank you for doing this reaction to the great Dan Fogelberg.
In the past, I've been known to listen to Dan Fogelberg for hours on end. After hearing this song again this morning, I'm going to dig out all my Fogelberg CDs and listen to him today. I loved Dan's voice and guitar playing. He also wasn't hard to look at.
RIP Dan. I miss you.
Innocent age is a masterpiece by Dan Fogleburg
Mike & The Mechanics "The Living Years" is another great tribute song. 😊
I imagine that Mike gave you a few Fogelberg songs to review, but if not, check out Same Auld Lang Syne, whiich of course is a frequently played New Years Eve song, but it is really an ode to a high school romance he had. The writing and singing is great. You may wonder since he died so young, it was cancer, which he battled for the last few years of his life. RIP Dan, and I hope your dad is leading St. Peter's band with you taking the lead vocals!
I miss hearing this being played on the radio. It always seemed to bring us back to what's important. My dad passed away when I was 14. We took care of him at home while he was dying of brain cancer from July to October of 1978, so when this song came out I felt it.
Dan's catalog is a gold mine. A poetic genius. He died of prostate cancer. There's a simple and cheap blood test. His last message was urging men to get checked.
I didn't know he had passed. That's so sad. Always thought of him as a gentle guy with a beautiful voice just making his music. RIP Mr. Fogelberg.
Simply beautiful - this song, video and your reaction. Thanks Maggie 💖🎶
Great stuff from back in the day; when music was made by people w/ talent & instruments.
So many great story tellers from the era.
grew up with this song as losing more friends and family-it means lot more than years before.
This is such an amazing tribute to his father. Of course the studio version is “better” but the live version has passion
Pretty much what I was going to say.
Fogelberg was the soundtrack to so many boomers. Check out his book; can’t go wrong with any… Netherlands is my favorite. Great react; thank you!
I totally agree. The yearning to experience more expressed in the song and messages are so very moving, especially in view of his early passing.
The Age of the songwriter seems like ancient history. You are right that you don't hear writing like this aymore. The height of this kind of music was with folk music in the 60s and 70sand railed off in the 80s/Either of the other 2 songs mentioned in the biography would be excellent to review.
Twice in this song, about halfway through and at the end, there is a horn interlude. Dan's father composed this at Dan's request.
I’ve always loved this song from back when it first came out. Great reaction, Maggie. If you could possibly check out ( in your spare time 😁) David Phelps take on Kansas’s Dust in the Wind. He did this with his 2 daughters. Great arrangement and excellent harmonies. Thanks.
Loved this song when it came out, but I truly didn't come to understand it until my own dad passed in 2016. My last words to him was I love you.
Oh no, you're going to make me cry. I can't stop now. though. When I sing this I'm not singing about my Dad (nothing against him), I'm singing about my Grandpa. He was always the one that encouraged the music.
My mama was my choir director and so was my daughter. This song hits me double. The eighties were so good with soft rock hits.
I love and miss Dan, thanks Maggie! I went to many of his concerts in the 80s and 90s, sometimes with his full band, sometimes he would add special guests like flutist Tim Wiesenberg, sometimes it would be just him playing his guitar or piano like in this concert! The last time I saw him was at a solo concert on the shore of Puget Sound in Seattle, beautiful night and beautiful music! He left quite a legacy himself! My favorite song of his was this one, but Longer is a very close second! He has so many great ones!
Another song of Dan's is "Run for the Roses" which for those of us who have raised and trained horses is very special.
Simply Perfection.
Very good review and song
My favorite Dan Fogelberg song is Netherlands which is from a very early album of the same name. The orchestrations are amazing. Another favorite is Run For The Roses. in addition to those that you mentioned. Thanks for sharing Dan with everyone with this great reaction.
Dan Foigelberg is a great rabbit hole to go down. He was a great song writer and singer. I was saddened to hear when he passed away. Thank you for doing this song.
My 1983 girlfriend introduced me to Dan, and I'm still grateful. The original studio versions are cleaner, but the artistry is there throughout.
Rock In Peace Dan Fogelberg.
Must hear his Same Old Lang Syne!!! Loved and cried to both songs often. Listen to John Denver's "Mathew", too
A Father's Day favorite. Dan is gone now. Beloved singer-songwriter.
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
This song reminds me of an ex-girlfriend’s dad who was a cabinet maker. He was as kind and gentle as a person could be. Unless he told you, you wouldn’t have realized he had been a Sherman gunner (think Shia LaBeouf’s character “Bible in the movie “Fury”) in Europe in the 4th Armored Division in Patton’s Third Army in WW2.
Do old lang syne by Dan Fogelberge next😊 Inspired my first screenplay
I Dan Fogelberg in concert in the 80's
Great reaction! Well said
One song they didn't mention on Wikipedia is Run For The Roses ! Beautiful song !
Imagine that you are Lawrence Fogelberg, a Big Band leader, and you live long enough to see your style of music fade away, and then you see your son become a popular musician and he plays this song for you at Carnegie Hall. As he said, nothing was left unsaid.
A wonderful artist. Music is just not the same anymore.
TV Dan Fogelberg song you should react to I think would be either “ Longer” or “Believe in Me “.
I miss you Dad. 💔
Mine was the best man I have ever known. Not a day goes by I don't think of him.
I recently learned this song on my guitar.
This is what music is for, this right here, to reflect the Love which is God....
Maggie - I hope you choose to review more of Dan Fogelberg’s amazing songs. Please, please, please check out the lyrics to “Netherlands” -so poignant and almost profound. I would be really interested to hear your thoughts his high register in this song.). I loved his voice. However, sadly, there are few videos of him singing, so you won’t find many songs where you will have the visuals to help point out and describe his technique.
thank you so much. i had forgotten this.
Listen to Same Old Lang Syne. Based on a true story from Dan's life. Different from this but equally as powerful.
David gates from breads song everything I own is I tribute to his father but many people think it's about a break up with a woman. it will bring tears to your eyes.
Hey Maggie check out of The Warning: Three Sisters from Monterrey, México, Daniela (Lead Vocal, Guitar), Paulina (Drummer, Background Vocals), and Alejandra Villarreal (Bass, Background Vocals). Rock band (Choke official video)
So glad you didn't have to pause.....
I am considering joining...
You should try "There's A Place in the World for a Gambler"
Love Dan Fogelberg. There are many to choose from his collection. Are you interested in a band where the lead singer hits solid g#6 in several songs?
He has another great song auld lang syne You should check it out
The Innocent Age (1981)
Please react to Bob Dylan “Lay Lady Lay”
Have you already listened to "Summer Breeze" by Seals & Crofts?
I prefer the studio version.
And at 70 yo I can't get my son to return my phone calls for 3 months.
Can you analyze Tom Jones version of my way
another Dan Fogelberg song of real life is Same Auld Lang Syne, referencing a true incident in his life of meeting up with an old girlfriend, you'll cry
