I agree with you on several points but for the intense liner that is actually a great color for deep/darker skin, since a lot of people with darker skin have a darker lip line. At least coming from a black women most of us use brown lip liners. I brought the whole intense collection, it’s still in the mail tho. Your video is incredibly informative.
Im gunna have to disagree with you on that point because I am sure you can see that the intense shade is already very deep and would work perfectly fine on deep tones without a liner at all. If anything, a deep plum shade would have made more sense than a dark brown liner which totally changes the colour of the lipstick! Have you received it since you posted this comment? How are you liking it?
I completely 100% agree with you. Black women have a darker lip line and I agree the darker color for a more intense lip line was spot on for brown and dark skin women of color. Looks totally different on our shade.
Z N I thought the same thing. The original Pillow Talk is the Matte Revolution so it’s weird they’d do different formulas. I feel like it’s a cash grab cuz it’s not well thought-out.
I cannot agree with you more. I have deep tan skin, hazel eyes and blonde brown hair. I don’t want a berry lip-I can get that from maybelline. I want a makeup artist to find a real pink nude for deep skin. And the eyeshadow palette? And I want pillow talk for a medium eye. I am never going to wear fushia. What a waste of a shade when she could have done a universal bronze. The only thing I liked was the blush. It looks amazing on my skin. It’s like she now has two polars-deep skin and light skin. No medium in my eyes.
After buying the pillow talk medium lipstick and trying it out I think you are right .. it is not a pinky nude lipstick for medium skinned toned people but however if any of you guys desire a deeper pillow talk OG shade then get the Supermodel lipstick its how I wished Pillow talk medium would be 👍🏼💖
So glad I watched your honest review before buying.. The medium lip liner and lipstick looks fine. But I don't understand the concept behind the intense lip liner..
She released the pillow talk light recently which I am interested in as its cooler toned, but its glossy!! I want matte formula like the original pillow talk matte lipstick! So spot on! I DONT understand why some are glossy and inconsistent! She is missing the point with having the same range "pillow talk" lipstick but for a variety of skin tones, as she is changing the formula so people arn't getting the same options!
Yes!! I hate making pillow talk "work", pillow talk medium isn't my look but better :(- I love your comments. So true, huda beauty so easy to use, everything just looks good on medium skin. Have you used Charlotte's colour matcher? When you get to some shades you can't view them on the medium skinned model.
I was searching on UA-cam for Pillow Talk Medium and Intense reviews on Indian skin and you popped up. Absolutely love your review, so refreshing and honest instead of ar$e kissing the brand. The medium does look really nice on you and I think ill now get this shade. For me berry/purple-ish colour lipsticks make me look ill/dead and I was checking to see if the Intense shade was like this. I couldn't rely on the images on Charlottes website as it looked unrealistic. Don't get me wrong, Charlotte Tilbury products like, magic cream day and night, Hollywood Lips in Dangerous Liaison (love, love, love) and her blushers are amazing. But this Pillow Talk range is not her best for darker skin tones. Thanks for your review and keep posting more...xx
Bravo - finally someone calling out this brand. There are so many things wrong with this brand on all levels but most people are duped by all her patronising hype and marketing.
I was considering buying the original pillow talk lipstick, but since I have the same skin tone than you, I think I won’t bother. Then I thought that maybe the medium shade would be the solution but... I don’t want a matte finish, I want a glossier one AND I want a nude colour, but just for people with my skin colour, I don’t want a berry shade. So, thank you so much, you just saved me money. If I want a nude shade for people with medium/tan skin, I think I’ll get a HUDA lipstick instead
Thank you Shahleena for this... Finally someone speaking my heart out on this much hyped 'pillow talk' collection. I always felt the same its not intended for medium tones so why call it universal...!!!
Thank you for this review, i was ready to purchase the full range since the original pillowtalk does not work on my skin but i think i will invest in another Natasha Denona palette instead. You are completely right, why call is Pillowtalk Medium and Intense but then she gave us berry lipsticks when Pillowtalk is a nude! I was expecting a mude lipstick with this release.
I am from India and I do think Charlotte Tilbury is a bit overhyped and also very expensive. I do own the pillow talk medium and the intense blush and do like them on my skin tone but do not find them unique. I feel some shades from less expensive brands like MAC are probably harder to dupe than this. Having said that the product I enjoy the most from CT is their eyes to mesmerise pot shimmer shadows. I genuinely feel they are worth the spend. Other than that, well you put it out there!
So glad you did this video. I can't wear the original pillow talk. It's too light. I think I'll try the intense lipstick and the mediumlip cheat. Your make up looks beautiful x
I agree, the different finishes, what's the point? I kept worrying you would break your lipsticks when applying - maybe you wouldn't mind so much... but although the intense lip liner and lipstick didn't look complimentary to each other during application the combination looked very pretty on you once you finished and maybe they blended together??? Like really, really pretty!😊
Yessssss👏🏼🙋🏽♀️ i really was wondering a long time if this shade would work with my brown skin. Watching this without blinking🤤 p.s: she is a white woman making expensive make-up for white people, sad but true...conclusion after watching your video.🤔
You tell 'em Shahleena!! I can't wait to watch it again.I amm too busy laughing the first go round. lipstick tree!? I was thinking the same thing...witw? I want one too. GREAT REVIEW. This is Just what I was looking for. a real honest review.... after watching too many unhelpful videos for woc and this CT line. very very helpful. THANK YOU
Cheers to an honest review! I was always baffled by those silly claims of the shades being "universally flattering". NOPE! Im of Italian heritage and cannot wear ANY of the CT nude group of shades. Would love a video of your favourite nude lipsticks for people with a lot natural colour in their lips. No one on YT is tackling this subject. Great video and thanks again.
The darker lip pencil is for deep skin tones. I've noticed a lot of people with dark skin like to line their lips with a lip pencil that is a deep brown color. Then they will go in with a colored or a nude lipstick. The result is actually quite beautiful. It wouldn't work well with your skin tone, though. Also, this isn't the full collection. Charlotte Tilbury is also coming out with a Collagen Lip Bath in Pillow Talk. It's supposed to come out the 30th. Also, two new beauty light wands in Pillow Talk and Pillow Talk Medium. Those are supposed to come out on the 26th of February. As for the different formulas of lipstick. Charlotte Tilbury obviously wanted to give people options, but it's hard to come out with two lipsticks in both formulas at one launch. Hopefully, further down the line she'll be able to expand on the formulas. Just my thoughts on this collection.
I can generally get away with wearing most colours. I think the intense shades looked fine on my skin but the issue is not that. It is that this is not a 'nude' or anywhere close to it being a more intense deeper version of the OG. Dark skinned women wearing dark brown lipliner with an actual nude shade to 'make it work' is nothing new. I have to do it myself but why should we have to? Also, the intense lipstick is already very dark and releasing a super dark brown liner which actually turns the lipstick kinda brown, doesn't make sense. Had it been a deep berry/plum/purple, it would have made sense - but this? Waaaay too dark! I know about the rest of the collection and I can already tell you that the Lip Collagen is basically a shiny gloss with a hint of shimmer. Only for fair skins. Better off with Fenty Gloss Bombs!
@@Shahleena I do agree with you on the many points you just made. Honestly when it comes down to it, there is no excuse for brands not having inclusive shade ranges for all. I mean it's 2020, not 1920.
@@Shahleena Welcome! Your coloring is the same as mine so I always turn to you for swatches! Can you pls do the full collection of Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lips?
The reason why the medium is not a pink shade is because the definition of pillow talk is like you're still in bed but look hot as f**k. For fairer skin tones if you look at their nude lips they are often pastel pink, or very bright pink, so a naked shade for them would be more pink based. For medium skin tones, if you look at our pigmented lips they are more purple-y based especially a typical tanned Indian's, yes the fairer indians may have pink based lips in which case they can go for the OG but if you look at the average north indian, their naked lips are grey-ish purply. The medium shade is my naked shade and it looks natural on me. The intense shade is the same for black people, they have more brown and berry in their lips and a little bit of red to make it pop against their skin tones. Charlotte made an amazing choice carrying over her pillow talk range as the point of pillow talk is not the colour but the concept itself, pinks rarely look good on typical tan indian skin tones and the earlier you accept that the better.
Very well said. I live in the Mediterranean so I'm not fair. Also not dark. It's really hard to find the right colours sometimes. I'm trying for years to find a nude lipstick. Nope. Nothing out there. I love the pillow talk original lipstick. On others. On me it's like I'm wearing nothing. So I wear red. Or a lip gloss. End of story. 👏👏
Wow! That’s what I call a review. When everyone is ga-ga over Charlotte, there’s someone speaking the truth. After viewing the shades, I couldn’t understand the hype around this pillow talk, walk of shame. Wondered did I miss something! Thankfully I didn’t 😄😄Phew!
Shahleena - Thank you. You are hysterical and extremely entertaining. Have you ever thought about doing stand up comedy. Sarcastic, cynical delivery, while completely unamused. Love it. How refreshing. Love your video and love you.
omggg THANK YOU for pointing out how ct markets the original pillow talk as ‘universally flattering’. it really isn’t!!! i think the concept of medium is still meant to cater to lighter skin tones who just want the same colour but deeper. if she was trying to be inclusive the only thing she hit the nail on the head with was the intense lip liner because people with darker skin tones use deep brown lip liners for nude lips ... especially though they are too light. that’s what i do actually.
I do it too and always have done. Tbh im sick of it. Always having to make things work! The thing is that the intense liner is much too dark when the lipstick is already very dark but berry. A deep plum liner would have made more sense but this changes the berry tone into a browny shade!
Shahleena me too! i really agree with you! and now that you say that, it makes more sense. it is pretty stupid when you combine the lipstick and liner, bc the lipstick isn’t a nude. in the overall collection together it makes no sense and it’s nothing revolutionary. it does fill a gap in her line but... eh. this video made me laugh so much though!

I was happy that she came out with a deeper blush, I have medium skin tone, I just tried it on at the mall... it is way to dark for me. And I thought the exact same thing about the lipsticks.. the pillow talk name makes no sense, they are just different colors.
I have to agree with you, the colour looks shit on me, I wish all the colours were in the kissing formula...Anyway it does look very nice on you...I'm thinking of the intense PT blusher...
babe both lipsticks are two different formulations! The intense one is on the K.I.S.S.I.N.G formulation. I also dont understamd why she did itthat way.
I do enjoy how she’s trying to be more inclusive. I love the new lipstick shades, but the lipliner for the intense lipstick is like.....what? Who said this was a good idea? 😂 What she SHOULD have done is make her Supermodel and Super Nineties lipsticks permanent; those were the BEST nude lipsticks she came out with that catered to medium skin tones, and even dark skin tones. Hopefully she realizes how much she missed out on making them permanent.
Shahleena can I say your makeup is absolutely stunning in this video please do this makeup routine and girl I love your banter keep being you, honest so damm funny and beautiful! Love all your reviews and vlogs 🤗😀
Saved me money on the palettes and on these lipsticks. What a disappointment. Darker OG pillow talk would have been so nice for medium-dark skin tones 😒
As a fair skin person, all my life I remember having to “make things work”, mixing more than one shade of this or that. It gets expensive! And tiresome. The struggle is real, for all of us.

Shahleena can I say your makeup is absolutely stunning in this video please do this makeup routine and girl I love your banter keep being you, honest so damm funny and beautiful! Love all your reviews and vlogs 🤗😀
I will start doing makeup tutorials again I promise xx
Saved me money on the palettes and on these lipsticks. What a disappointment. Darker OG pillow talk would have been so nice for medium-dark skin tones 😒
Exactly!
Great review
Shahleena, for you to have a lipstick tree, of course you need to plant a lipstick seed first, right
LOL
Loooool you crack me up!!!
It could be very usefull to see the real colour of the intense lipstick on you without that dark lipliner!
Ah yes it would have been! Sorry honey! You can just about see it right after application before I mush my lips together lol
Well said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Lmao lipstick tree 🌲 ahhahaha where can I find one. Your funny
As a fair skin person, all my life I remember having to “make things work”, mixing more than one shade of this or that. It gets expensive! And tiresome. The struggle is real, for all of us.
Darlinggggggg
Sooo true CT is not good at catering to mid to deeper skintones. She is raking it in and dosent need to care. What a Shame
This is why I barely buy her stuff :(
The tree thing she explained on TATI video.
Why bother? The best nude lips for us is smoked almond by mac
Smh that's why I don't even bother with that brand.
Looks like her sister with a tan😂 The brand should discontinue Pillow talk after her comments🤪
Ur review😂😘 u r amazing
