Looks good. Here’s a tip, soak the cans in a bucket of very hot water. Put all of the cans in at once and rotate them after a few minutes of spraying. It flows much better.
It was holding up well. We sold the vehicle and went with a newer one. The people that bought it liked the look too. I went shadow black since it was the only kind available in Canada when I first ordered a bunch. Gloss and other colors came out later
I was worried about not having enough with 3 cans for chrome delete on my 2021 Rogue. DYC suggested 4 cans for my trim but seeing this video let's me know that I have enough. Thanks. Looks good btw.
Thanks! Keep cans warm and it will spray better too and you’ll avoid spitting when getting near the empty with each can. I usually leave 10% in the can then start a new one.
I saw people blacking out trim with some vinyl wrap bit this Is soo much easier to remove. I'm just going to use this product. I have some experience with Plastic Dip.
I did my wheels and grill and they turned out great, and yeah recommend wearing a respirator as the paint is very fine. Take your time and use all the cans provided.
@@tonyholmes9024 only if you spray it on too thin. It just makes it harder to peel since it keeps breaking in smaller pieces instead of large sections.
I personally like the plasti dip better it lays better and wets out better. And less coats to wear 6+ coats are needed with hyper dip and not to mention $17 per can gets expensive real fast you get the original plasti and spray gloss over and it look just as good if not better.
Each product has it's place for sure. I had never tried Hyperdip until this video and wanted to see how it was. I did my wheels on my GMC Sierra video and they turned out great. Great video, had to sub to support a small UA-cam page. Getting to that 1000 subs mark is very hard so I had to support. Great video. I'll definitely use this product
I'd suggest a spray gun attachment I made same mistake while coating my motorcycle parts and my finger was broken half way through. Ended up going to get one.
It is relatively easy provided you apply it with the right thickness. If you run into light spots, they make a dissolver to help. Light overspray can be wiped off the next time you hand wash the vehicle.
It looks great! How is it holding up? I want to black out my chrome front grill, window trim, and maybe my emblems as well on my 2018 Accord. Trying to decide between this and Plastidip - I want to keep it as budget friendly as possible and I don’t know if shelling out a bit more money for the same result is worth it. What do you think is better, Plastidip or the Hyperdip? Thanks for making this video and I hope all is well with you.
I haven't had any issues with adhesion or the look of the finish. Plasti Dip is a good choice, it is a little more forgiving to apply and more readily available at local stores. However, the finish is a little dull compared to Hyperdip. I have plasti dip on the wheels and a little wipe of tire shine glosses it up, but then makes dust stick a little more. I would recommend buying a can of either product to practice on the emblems first. Then once you are familiar with how the process goes, you'll avoid mistakes on the trim. Trim could be tricky to peel depending how your weatherstripping is designed. For the Cadillac, I was lucky there was a hard edge (like and emblem) that the product laid onto thinner, allowing it to rip in that spot as I peeled very slowly
I tried Hyperdip and it was harder to apply vs Plastidip. I found it difficult to figure out how much would wet it out before it would very quickly run. It takes more time and more coats. The project did turn out pretty good but I think I'll go back to using Platidip.
The Cadillac grill and window trim still look really good. My wheels in the AT4 too. I am a fan of both for some of my projects. Plasti Dip is easier though.
Thanks, at the time, Shadow Black Hyperdip is not compatible with glossifier (big warning on the label). But now Hyperdip comes with a Gloss black option without having to add something to make it gloss up
It lasts a long time my friend if done right. My 2013 sierra denali was done 7+ yrs ago with Plasti dip on the emblems in inner grille. I can always send pictures through a DM on Instagram
Great job! Looks really good. Did you used all 3 cans? Since you need to apply so many coats, I find it challenging to estimate the right amount of product to order.
Thank you! I used all 3 can to about 90%. I like to save a little just in case I need to respray something. You can always use a modelling brush and add dip if you make a mistake. Also spraying the last out of the can sometimes spatters
Thanks, I answer this question a lot. The product is from south Florida so if done right, it should resist heat. Applying it in high humidity can lead to adhesion problems. I live in Canada and I haven’t had any issues with -40°F and as for extreme heat, we only get up to 90°F where I live. I have used it on items that I wanted to customize temporarily. As long as the preparation is done well, it should last. If you have a spot get damaged by a rock or something, it can be repaired by peeling it off and redoing and is inexpensive. Good option for a leased vehicle too. I recommend proper automotive paint and clear coat for anything you know you want to be more permanent.
@@Donslife Thank you so much for the update and information. I can only imagine how many times you have answered that question lol. I live in Hawaii and its always humid here and hot. I wanted to try this on my Tacoma before switching out the grill. You did an excellent job and the results looks stunning.
Hawaii! Very nice. I’ve only spent some time in Maui. If you can apply it in a climate controlled garage, just like painting automotive parts would require.
Spraying the product takes longer due to drying between coats. How much you want to mask dictates overall clean up time. any light overspray can be wiped off. Any thick overspray can be peeled off. If you like this kind of DIY stuff, it can all be done in one day no problem. People Plasti Dip entire cars. I haven't done that.
Are you able to show where you zip tied the overlay grill too. I am in the process of purchasing but want to make sure it's tight and don't want it to be loose or anything.
That’s the way this stuff peels. If two different kinds of surfaces come together but still have a big enough gap, it will rip perfectly in that spot. This is where the film is the weakest. This is while you don’t mask right up against the emblem, otherwise the film will be too thick where it bridges the gap.
It's still not a dark enough black. You can tell the difference between the real painted black vs the hyperdip black. I just stopped using these types of products for that reason.
Maybe I missed it but why did you overspray on the top of the grill and in certain areas around the emblems why did you have to peel it why couldn’t you just mask it ?
Yes, masking tape is usually too thick that the hyper dip bridges the gap (now smaller) that the emblem adhesive creates. Once everything is dry and you try to peel, it is risky and will probably pull at the emblem coating and come off
They have more blacks available now. Unfortunately at the time only Shadow Black was available in Canada, which is Satin. There is a gloss black available 👍🏼
😂 It has come up in the comments! If you’ve used the product before, you’ll learn that ‘if’ there is any overspray, it is actually dried up before landing on things a few feet away. So it just wipes off. I would recommend masking about 2ft minimum around where you do spray, but no harm to anything either way. Thank you for watching the video! I appreciate it!
Sweet! My other tip is to give it the recommended coats. Makes it easier to peel off if you ever get board. Also if it is colder where you are spray, put the cans in some hot water. It will help. If it is like 75° in the area, no need. Another viewer shared that advice. Just make sure the can is wiped dry so you don’t drip water on what you’ve sprayed
@@Donslife Hey I appreciate the tips. It’s not super cold but the weather has been up and down. I live in Nashville so the weather is all over the place. I believe we are supposed to have some 60-68 degree days up ahead.
You mentioned it was blacker than the plasti-dip but in the end it still had a grey-ish color. Was that just the lighting. Would have liked to see it in the sunlight
It is less grey and more black overall than Plast-Dip (shadow black color). I do have pictures/videos on Instagram and also a follow up video. Since it is a rubberized coating, it has more of satin finish, so direct light it will reflect more. Here is the video if you want to look for it : Hyperdip, Plasti Dip and Vinyl Wrap Durability
@@rustystick I did! I had to go with what was available at the time (in Canada). Good news is that they are compatible. So if I really wanted to change it up, I technically could lay on some gloss coats over top.
It is durable enough for automatic and wand washes. Assuming it is applied correctly too. I like it for things like this because it is low cost and temporary without causing any damage.
Thanks for the compliment. The Cameo was good. No overspray. If it had, it would have been dry-fall and easily wiped off with a microfiber cloth. I was doing a full wash and wax the next day on it, so I wasn’t worried. I am impressed you knew it was a Cameo!
That is the oversprayed product. It is a peelable kind of rubberized paint. Their website has tons of info, I just wanted to try it out on this project and since it is temporary in nature, nothing was harmed in the process
Do you Know if you can do a truck chrome bumper?? I am NOT cheap, but my white truck came with chromed bumpers when I bought it and I just want to paint front and rear bumpers black...going with the bottom half all blacks look...
Yes you can if the chrome is rust free. I suggest going to (DYC) dipyourcar.com’s UA-cam channel and watch some vids for large surfaces. They do whole cars!!
Hi, Thanks for the great video, I am thinking same thing to my new RAM 1500. It's been amost 2 monthes. how is the paint works? , Does it clean? any peel off? how long it would last? Appreciated in advance!
Thanks for watching. I posted a video yesterday about washing and durability. ‘Hyperdip, Plasti Dip and Vinyl Wrap Durability’ If applied properly it is fine to wash and can be glossed up with tire shine if you wanted to. I expect it will last more than 5 years. On my Denali the Plasti Dip lasted 7 years and then I sold it.
@@The-Mpathe 2 full bumpers...I would think 3 cans per bumper (total 6). Maybe have a an extra can or two for back up. You are better off to have more coats on than not enough. Peeling off thin Hyperdip or Plasti Dip is a pain. Hope that helps and it would be great if I can earn your subscription!
Thank you! I have used Plasti Dip on wheels many times and based on how this Hyperdip is holding up on all of this trim, it will be my choice going forward. Hyperdip has been designed for wheels and automotive applications. I will be making more videos soon with it on another vehicle!
at 6:50 mark when you're peeling back the tape would it ever make sense to run a quick razor blade first for insurance that it peels where you want it to?
It held up amazingly! I made a video about not using bug and tar remover to clean the parts. Just soap and water is sufficient. We sold the vehicle a week ago before we take delivery of our new one. I will send a link to the video in case you missed it. HyperDip and Bug Guts! How I Clean it Ensuring it Lasts! Works With Plasti Dip Too! ua-cam.com/video/-jxAR6Qy3x8/v-deo.html
Appreciate the response. Can you take it through cat washes or is that a no no? I used our pressure washer on the plastic dipped wheels on my sxs and never had an issue, but don't want to do all the work and see it blown off the truck.😅 (If you answer this in the video you linked me, sorry. I just got finished mowing and wanted to respond.)
What is the final finish like ??? Is is flat, ultra flat, eggshell or satin ??? I would like to restore some very faded black grill inserts and side moldings. The original factory finish was an eggshell finish. Could this product reproduce that look ??? Car is 20 years old and factory replacement parts are no longer available. From the video images, it looks like the finish I want. Thanks. PS-- How durable is this product ??? Will it eventually wear off or is it permanent ???
The final finish of ‘shadow black’ is mostly satin. They make others like piano black, metallic and gloss too. It is more of a peelable paint so it won’t wreck anything by accidentally overspraying it. I personally have only tried it on wheels, grills, emblems and window trim. I don’t know how well it would work on plastic moldings that have a texture. Assuming you could degrease it and clean it well, it might work. It might be best to try Plasti Dip first (cheaper) as a test. If it works well, but the then peel it off and go with the color / finish you want with hyper dip. The longest I have had Plasti dip is 7+ years on my inner grill and emblems on a 2013 gmc sierra denali. Sold it a few months ago, all still intact. Bugs didn’t wreck the grill finish either. Remember Hyperdip is newer and intended more for automotive so it should be just as good if not better than Plasti Dip. I only use these products when I want a temporary color change and when I want it back to stock, I can peel it off or the next owner can if I sell.
@@Donslife Thanks so much for the info. I am just looking for a product that will restore the original finish on a few trim pieces as they are not made any longer and junkyard items are in just as bad or worse condition then what I have. Is Plasti Dip permanent or does it also peel off ??? I need a permanent fix. I don't want to try regular spray paint as I don't think it is very flexible for use on soft plastic and would probably crack. Any other product that you would suggest for my needs ????
Plasti Dip is the original peelable product. Hyperdip is just improved for automotive. Either are worth a try and both are flexible I don’t know what these trim pieces look like to give a full opinion
@@Donslife Thanks !!! I will research them and maybe try on a scrap part to see what results they give. I just want my car to look good again. Its trim is now a mottled, splotched, uneven mess of black, gray and smoky white depending on how much sunlight each part received over its lifetime. I have tried 5 different trim restorers and all they did was make the parts more shiny but did nothing to bring back the original color and wore off after a few weeks.
@@femto7970 That’s funny! Consider subscribing because I have more of this type of content coming since I just bought a new truck! It will certainly be given the customizing treatment!
Hi There! I would advise wearing a mask/respirator. Even though I had a large ventilated work space, it is no substitute for properly protecting your lungs. I was excited to work on the project and it slipped my mind 😞. Safety first!
It should be okay, but probably depends on the design of the wheel's surface and if you can clean the surface really well so no contamination inhibits proper adhesion.
I don't think it looks wack but I agree. You don't have a shiny white sparkling paint with like a flat black matte look. Almost makes it look like those two tone platic trim pieces that fade overtime in the sun.
Hey I got a question so is the grille chrome ? Does this stick to chrome or you need to sand it down in order for paint/ hyper dip to stick? I’m asking I got some wheels and Hyper dip seems the best way to go to paint them
Good News! As long as they are clean and free of any contaminants, it will stick. I did my chrome wheels on my 2013 Sierra Denali and right before selling it, took it all off and the chrome was like nothing was ever on it
@@Donslife my chrome is in bad condition that’s why I want to plastidip/ hyper dip them. I want to do gloss black hyper dip on them. Can you do a video on that? With chrome wheels?
I might be Hyper Dipping my stock wheels on my new truck since upgrading my wheels right now is not in the plans. If you chrome is plastic some deep pitting might show a little unless you filled in any spots. If you have chrome on metal, I probably wouldn’t cover it until the rust was sanded off. If I do make a video on dipping damaged surfaces, I will let you know!
Hi, is it scratch resistant? I remember the old plastidip isn’t and you can’t use it on grill or front of the car. I’m about to order but need to make sure it doesn’t get scratch
It is possible to scratch it. Normal environmental things like heavy rain, snow, mud, bugs don’t seem to harm it. It is a low cost coating that can be peeled off and redone if it did scratch. My wife curbed a wheel with dip on it. It peeled it off in that spot, so I sanded the rim smooth and redid the dip on it.
Hi Danielle, I left a gap on each side for overspray, then peeled the overspray off and fortunately it didn’t lift the main part I wanted to cover! Thank you for checking it out! Don’t forget to subscribe...I just upgraded my truck and have some more stuff like this to do! 😊
Its not spray paint and it won’t/didn’t stick to surrounding surfaces like paint would. We’re good! No classic trucks were harmed in the making of this video
I just do it for my own projects. It takes a few hours in most cases, mostly waiting 20 mins between each coat. Cleaning and masking a grill : 15-30 mins. 6-8 coats take a minute each with 20 mins dry time in between. Clean up maybe 15 mins.
The vinyl was cut out to reveal the stock ‘black’ sensors. I agree it looks better the same color and I may put some vinyl over them. For the winter I will probably leave it alone.
That my friend is a wrap I installed the weekend before this video was made. If you want to see it, the title of that video is : Cadillac Escalade Full Vinyl Wrap Start to Finish!
This was Shadow Black in the video. At the time of making the video it was all that was available in Canada. Shadow Black is a satin finish and not glossy
About the same. But don’t use bug and tar remover, it can soften the material. I use a medium scrub brush with hot soapy water after road trips as a first step before a normal wash
It is pretty scratch and abrasions resistant when used on a vehicle. It is a new and improved Plasti Dip (made by the same company) but engineered to be better for automotive use.
Covered this question lots in the comments, as have some other people that have used this product or plasti dip. Yes you can wash it at the carwash and it will hold up assuming it was installed properly. (Prep, Low Humidity and Proper material thickness)
Non existent, the particles are much larger than spray paint. I have used plasti dip for years and if you control your spray pattern with proper distance, you may be surprised at how controlled you can be. If there was any, it would be so light, it would be dry-fall (not sticky) and just wipe or wash off. Extra masking never hurts though.
I certainly could have moved to two vehicles but I found that there was next to no overspray carried in the air as the droplets are heavier than spray paint. The spray pattern is pretty tight too. Painters plastic would be a good option to use in a tight space. Nice thing about this products is they aren’t permanent. I did check the two vehicles early on and there was no Hyperdip residue on them. 👍🏼
Looks great. My wheels are currently sprayed with the regular black and I'm wondering if it's worth it to switch it to the hyperdip shadow black. I've read that the hyperdip has a much smoother finish. Do you have any experience with regular plasti dip vs hyperdip?
Hi Chris! I have lots and lots of experience with Plasti Dip. Especially in black. The difference with Hyperdip is noticeable and it seems to present itself a little darker and more satin than flat like Plastidip. If you go back a few months on my channel you’ll see a Plastidip removal video for my GMC Sierra Denali using a pressure washer. One important thing to mention: Hyper Dip’s instructions state that it is not compatible with Plastidip, so I recommend starting fresh with whatever you choose. I decided to give Hyperdip a shot since claims to be better for vehicles. I forgot to mention, the escalade wheels are 4yr old Plastidip and in person look dull compared to the Hyperdip, but time will tell. Consider subscribing if not already! ✌🏼
@@Donslife I ordered the black HyperDip wheel kit, can't wait to try it out. They just rolled a new HyperDip color, I think it's Anthracite Gray and it looks Great, but I decided to stick with the black because I'm going for a blackout look on my car.
I have a question. I want to do my front grill, chrome window trims, decals/badging, and rims on my Honda Accord. How many cans do you think I would need?
Hey Jman, Wheels usually use 1 can each. I used almost 4 on the Cadillac Grill, window trim and badges. 8 total would do all of it. You might be able to get it done with 6 or 7 since an accord has smaller pieces (like the grill). I hope that helps!
@@jmang5089 Trust me, to little is the worst. You end up doing less coats out of panic. Then the project won’t turn out quite right. Having extra never hurts and you then have some if you scratch your dipped wheel or grill for any touch ups. The website I shared has wheel kits. I might be ordering one soon for my wheels and making a video. I can’t handle the stock colors and I am not ready to go buy new wheels yet.
@@Donslife Thanks so much for the advice! I totally agree about the rims. I can’t afford to drop 400ish on a set, especially because I’m just leasing, but the stock rims look terrible. Another question as long as you’re here, how do you tape around the emblems on the rims? An exacto knife? I’m worried I won’t get it right with my rims being that it is a small, round Honda emblem.
@@jmang5089 excellent question. For those tiny Honda emblems (I assume they are mostly flat), careful use of a knife just cutting part way through the dried coating might work. You might have to cut as you peel too keeping the blade almost touching the emblem. Or just leave them covered, it might be a good look? Good Luck!
It will last years. It is supposed to be a ‘true’ automotive coating and not just a general coating like Plasti Dip. I have been using Plasti Dip for over a decade. I sold my 2013 GMC Sierra recently and it had 8 year old Plasti Dip on the emblems and it never peeled off.

Also my Instagram shows updated pictures from time to time showing how things like this currently look

Still 100%. Message me on Instagram and I can send you pictures
Looks great .
I'm curious though as to the longevity of it ?
I'm looking to do the badges on my truck .
Thanks !
It lasts a long time my friend if done right. My 2013 sierra denali was done 7+ yrs ago with Plasti dip on the emblems in inner grille. I can always send pictures through a DM on Instagram
The silver under the fog lights should be done black too, Worm!
I think I will! At the time, and I don’t remember the reason, wifey didn’t want it done.
How has it held up thru the winters now update ?
We have sold this vehicle. It lasted 4 winters before selling it. I had to touch up a few spots from stone chips and they blended decently.
Great tip! Thanks.
Absolutely beautiful but how long does it last? Can it last through car washes and detailing? In extreme heat and cold?
Looks great. What took longer, the prep or the paint?
Spraying the product takes longer due to drying between coats. How much you want to mask dictates overall clean up time. any light overspray can be wiped off. Any thick overspray can be peeled off. If you like this kind of DIY stuff, it can all be done in one day no problem. People Plasti Dip entire cars. I haven't done that.
Are you able to show where you zip tied the overlay grill too. I am in the process of purchasing but want to make sure it's tight and don't want it to be loose or anything.
I am away for a week. But you can email me and I can send a pic when I get back
Before peeling the tape, did you run a razor along the edges of the grill and trim? How did it peel away so easy?
That’s the way this stuff peels. If two different kinds of surfaces come together but still have a big enough gap, it will rip perfectly in that spot. This is where the film is the weakest. This is while you don’t mask right up against the emblem, otherwise the film will be too thick where it bridges the gap.
It's still not a dark enough black. You can tell the difference between the real painted black vs the hyperdip black. I just stopped using these types of products for that reason.
I understand
How cool will that grill look after one summer of bugs...
Just wash it like you would a vinyl wrap. I did the inner grille on my Sierra Denali with PlastiDip and 7 years later, it is still covered Black.
Once everything is dry and you try to peel, it is risky and will probably pull at the emblem coating and come off
@@Donslife good answer 👏👏👏👏👏

Am I the only one who is thinking about the overspray/fine mist getting on that badass truck or the other car lol ? Great job though turned out great
😂 It has come up in the comments!
@@Donslife appreciate the tip! I’m going to use this on my Titan

Nice smooth finish. In your opinion would you recommend hyper dip over plasti dip?
I absolutely would for automotive use. I still need to see how it holds up through the seasons. Of course washability needs some testing too.
Did you sand prep it or use a tack cloth?
did you overspray the window trim and peel back like you did the grill - or did you mask tight to the window trim?
Masked a little bit away from the window trim and just peeled the little bit of overspray in between.
@@Donslife you see DYC brought out a gloss aerosol black?
@@rustystick I did! I had to go with what was available at the time (in Canada). Good news is that they are compatible. So if I really wanted to change it up, I technically could lay on some gloss coats over top.
@@Donslife I've been using dyc since before Fonzie had biceps.. definitely a fan
@@rustystick 😂 It faces lots of scepticism, but it makes sense for several applications.
What if you go through a machine car wash, will it ruin the dip and scratch it up ?
It is durable enough for automatic and wand washes. Assuming it is applied correctly too. I like it for things like this because it is low cost and temporary without causing any damage.
Weren't you worried about overspray getting on your Cameo? I would have.
But, your Escalade does look really good now.
Thanks for the compliment. The Cameo was good. No overspray. If it had, it would have been dry-fall and easily wiped off with a microfiber cloth. I was doing a full wash and wax the next day on it, so I wasn’t worried. I am impressed you knew it was a Cameo!
Does hyper dip ship to California?
Yes 👍🏼 ships from Florida. Link in the video description
Is there a light up Cadillac grille emblem
There are only aftermarket ones, not GM as far as I know
What is that really elastic tape at all the edges? Or is that the paint?
That is the oversprayed product. It is a peelable kind of rubberized paint. Their website has tons of info, I just wanted to try it out on this project and since it is temporary in nature, nothing was harmed in the process
This is the way GM should of black out the trim and the front grille..
Do you Know if you can do a truck chrome bumper?? I am NOT cheap, but my white truck came with chromed bumpers when I bought it and I just want to paint front and rear bumpers black...going with the bottom half all blacks look...

Thanks for watching. I posted a video yesterday about washing and durability.
‘Hyperdip, Plasti Dip and Vinyl Wrap Durability’
If applied properly it is fine to wash and can be glossed up with tire shine if you wanted to. I expect it will last more than 5 years. On my Denali the Plasti Dip lasted 7 years and then I sold it.
@@Donslife wow! Seven years. Definitely a go!
How many cans do you think it would take to do front and rear bumpers?
@@The-Mpathe 2 full bumpers...I would think 3 cans per bumper (total 6). Maybe have a an extra can or two for back up. You are better off to have more coats on than not enough. Peeling off thin Hyperdip or Plasti Dip is a pain. Hope that helps and it would be great if I can earn your subscription!
This looks good!! Have you tried it on wheels?
Thank you! I have used Plasti Dip on wheels many times and based on how this Hyperdip is holding up on all of this trim, it will be my choice going forward. Hyperdip has been designed for wheels and automotive applications. I will be making more videos soon with it on another vehicle!

It's factory all chevy gmc cars come out of the factory like this
What is the final finish like ???

I’ve seen some people masking up for this project, so we don’t really need to wear a mask while spraying this?
Hi There! I would advise wearing a mask/respirator. Even though I had a large ventilated work space, it is no substitute for properly protecting your lungs. I was excited to work on the project and it slipped my mind 😞. Safety first!
Use common sense.
No . I have done it and it’s all good no need
Hmm, wondering if you could use it for motorcycle rims?
It should be okay, but probably depends on the design of the wheel's surface and if you can clean the surface really well so no contamination inhibits proper adhesion.
Eh. Looks the same. They need to make a gloss black. When you have a vehicle with shiny paint and dull looking black trim pieces it looks wack.
I don't think it looks wack but I agree. You don't have a shiny white sparkling paint with like a flat black matte look. Almost makes it look like those two tone platic trim pieces that fade overtime in the sun.
I’m assuming this was the more matte version instead of gloss hyper dip ?
Correct. This is a satin finish. At the time gloss black wasn’t available in Canada
@@Donslife please it’s a great video idea and you have a Instagram. I can show you my wheels
@@rajeshdayal5182 you bet! I will check it later tonight
How does it not peel everything off when you’re peeling the edges?
The edges have the thinnest film so it breaks or rips in a perfect line. There is some technique involved but it is easy to get the hang of.
Question? What happens to the paint after repeated trips to the car wash?
Holds up really well. Shouldn’t peel at all. In fact I made a follow up video specifically about it!
AMAZING 💛💛💛
Looks amazing.
Thank you Tanja, I agree...Turned out pretty well
Did you mask off the window trim completely or did you leaf a gap to “peel”?
Hi Danielle, I left a gap on each side for overspray, then peeled the overspray off and fortunately it didn’t lift the main part I wanted to cover! Thank you for checking it out! Don’t forget to subscribe...I just upgraded my truck and have some more stuff like this to do! 😊
Why would you leave that beautiful red truck in the garage while you're using spray-paint?
Its not spray paint and it won’t/didn’t stick to surrounding surfaces like paint would. We’re good! No classic trucks were harmed in the making of this video
What do you charge? What was the time to get this done? From begging-end?
I just do it for my own projects. It takes a few hours in most cases, mostly waiting 20 mins between each coat. Cleaning and masking a grill : 15-30 mins. 6-8 coats take a minute each with 20 mins dry time in between. Clean up maybe 15 mins.
@@Donslife nice! Just wanted to know the average time it takes from start to finish? 3-5 hrs? Looks like that would take about 5 hrs
Other videos say a mask is a must?, I usually use plastidip outdoors and didn't wear one.
He's inside a garage, should he or nah?
I would recommend wearing a mask. I should have too regardless of air flow/ventilation. 🤷🏻♂️
The front sensors you painted them or is that stock ? Look better if they matched color of car
The vinyl was cut out to reveal the stock ‘black’ sensors. I agree it looks better the same color and I may put some vinyl over them. For the winter I will probably leave it alone.

You missed the pieces by the fog lights
I know right! Actually it was left out as per my wife’s request. Maybe now she’ll be okay with me covering it!
What is the exact color of this hyper dip? Is this the piano gloss black?
This was Shadow Black in the video. At the time of making the video it was all that was available in Canada. Shadow Black is a satin finish and not glossy
Has anyone done this outside and not in a garage? How did it come out?
I have done outside applications of Plasti Dip. Both require low humidity and a clean surface. Also avoid a windy day and direct sunlight
Do bugs wash off of the hyper dip better than the original grill?
About the same. But don’t use bug and tar remover, it can soften the material. I use a medium scrub brush with hot soapy water after road trips as a first step before a normal wash
How resistant is that product to scratching or abrasion ?
It is pretty scratch and abrasions resistant when used on a vehicle. It is a new and improved Plasti Dip (made by the same company) but engineered to be better for automotive use.
I just wonder how this holds up long term with washing etc.
Covered this question lots in the comments, as have some other people that have used this product or plasti dip. Yes you can wash it at the carwash and it will hold up assuming it was installed properly. (Prep, Low Humidity and Proper material thickness)
So how bad was your overspray on the onmasked portion of the car and the one next to it?
Non existent, the particles are much larger than spray paint. I have used plasti dip for years and if you control your spray pattern with proper distance, you may be surprised at how controlled you can be. If there was any, it would be so light, it would be dry-fall (not sticky) and just wipe or wash off. Extra masking never hurts though.
Looks awesome! But how durable is it during washing and detailing?
It holds up just fine! I made some videos about it too!
Good job but why didn't you move the red truck an white car
Will this hold up against an automatic car wash?
I am confident that if applied correctly it will last through dozens of automatic car washes.
It does but please, don't use automatic car wash. It destroys your paint little by little creating swirl marks and micro scratches

@@Donslife Sweet thank you! I saw some other videos and tried to guess the amount myself. I was only going to buy 3 hahaha
Good Luck!
How long can you expect that hyper dip to last?
It will last years. It is supposed to be a ‘true’ automotive coating and not just a general coating like Plasti Dip. I have been using Plasti Dip for over a decade. I sold my 2013 GMC Sierra recently and it had 8 year old Plasti Dip on the emblems and it never peeled off.

@@johnnyblaze1098 no worries! I would just open the hood, door, etc and put a piece of masking tape where the spray might get to. Even if you didn’t mask in the crack/gap it would wipe off pretty easily with your fingers.
