- This footage has never been seen, we shot this after the UMIST show which was a mental show as well. It's a great interview eventually, probably not the best idea to start with a question about Charles Manson but Dave and Andy rescue the interview and we get some good insight into how hard he works, Black Flag, Ian McKay & Fugazi, the Misfits and loads of other stuff.
Henry has such great facial structure so tight and symetrical, he's a great looking guy.
precisely
Was.
kinda looks like Ted Bundy here
@@billytankx You assume they hadn’t already.
Patrick Bateman vibes
Why?
Because Fucking REAL.
Henry was Real in 81... he was Real in 88..
And he’s Real now.
No BS.
Not fake.
My inspiration when I was 18 and angry.
My inspiration now when I’m 54.
Because he’s fucking Real
I'm 52 and totally agree this interesting is a gem.Henry the diamond in the rough!
funny thing is, literally right after this interview, the minor threat "complete discography" came out on CD.
Henry Rollins Interview Oct 28th 1988 Manchester UMIST 1510pm 23.5.22 in the good old days the 1970's... they could hire out a studio for a couple of days and have no over dubs and still make an album... someone needs to get back to the immediacy of the moment and churn a heap load of shit out in such a short amount of time eg: osees - which seems to be the only band of note which seems to be churning out release after release without an sign of let up...
Good idea to interview him while he's tired.
S but yet we all watch it
I'm so stoked that Henry says y'know a shitload.
this is such a great interview ! hard to find rare and decent footage of Hank from the eighties that hasnt been doing the rounds for years. nice to come across "new" interviews like this. ive met him over and over again throughout the years, he was always cool and took the time to chat. great work ! thanks.
Henry Rollins Interview Oct 28th 1988 Manchester UMIST 1502pm 23.5.22 indeed a couple of years later i went to see the guy shadow box and sing - his name was rollins.
I fucking love this dude.
As big of a Misfits fan Henry is, I have always been curious of what he thought of Danzig. Here we have it. Thanks for posting this!
@Cporosus1 haha when'd he say that?
Such a good interview. Good questions, great answers. Very natural. I love it. Thank you for uploading this.
Great interview!
For those who want to hear his opinion on Danzig,
20:22
Wow. Thanks for sharing.
thanks for this
definitely a peek into the oldschool punk vault
Awesome! Thanks for posting this! (uh, 8 years ago, lol)
this is great guys
wow first time I've heard Rollins say anything negative about Rubin. always was surprised he liked him so much
Yes this is right after the show
sweet interview dude thanks for this little piece of history :)
It's rare to hear him mentioning anything Glenn/Misfits-related.
not really, he has misfits tattoos, they love eachother
Hah. Is this after a show? Totally nerding out about acoustics. That's awesome.
That's cool. What a nice birthday present for me.
I've liked Danzig I since it dropped. But Hank's right - it DOES sound like the Cult. I remember thinking that when I first heard it.
Michael Colello fuck I can’t unhear that
It's that Jim Morrison influence
It was AWESOME stumbling upon this while trolling.... Great interview. Thanks!
Hard to believe a band like fIREHOSE with their “econo” aesthetic would’ve spent 30k on a record. Especially the SST releases. Sonic youth on the other hand...
I am filming
Dave Arnold told me about this ' it's a great interview
It's funny he rips on Rick Rubin here...years later they would become (good) friends.
Jack Talon - it is a tattoo of a flag a black one.
no its not - its a screw or nail
droctagon3k i'm pretty sure it;s an upside down goats leg or something similar
one of my favorite stories of his was when him and mackaye went to Europe with black flag for the first time. the two of them were stoked to meet all their favorite English bands while the members of black flag were more apathetic. sure enough each experience they have out there goes terrible. bands totally dismiss them. fans throw bottles and steal their equipment. when people give artists from that era grief for being prickly have no idea what they had to put up with
How odd would it be if he was petting a Chihuahua? Thought I saw that for a sec super weird
is that you interviewing him?
5:52
PAILHEAD!
I fucking love Pailhead - I always jam to those songs on guitar, super fun
Was this during get in the van????
Wow '88
🙋✨⚡⚡💘💟💖✨

It's just a black out piece he never finished.
Was he in Rollins band already ?
Black Flag
@@jessickalush3305 i think he left Black Flag before 88’.
@@kadathrekords5667 That's true. I didn't actually see the date. I just was going by history about his jaw hurting. I write s out that in get in the van. Guess it's happened more than once lol. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.
@@jessickalush3305 Yeah i know, hope is always here.
At 3:10 he mentions Chris Haskett, his guitarist, so... Rollins Band.
Egg Hunt.
Hard to believe the interviewers are speaking English.
