- Rebel Without A Cause gave birth to portraying Postmodern Teenagers on the big screen with James Dean leading the charge. This video goes in depth to analyzing masculinity in the 1950s and how it was portrayed on screen with the focus being on teenage masculinity.

James Dean was a class act and put everything in the roles he played. Just three movies but he became a legend..
James Dean Always Has Been And Always Will Be The Definition Of COOL.
The Rebel Outlaw.
RIP James “Jimmy” Dean.
This was a super well made video!! Wish it had more views
more to come
Dude I feel James dean dad and actresses dad in film shows emasculated man and overly masculanated man's depiction. And the police officer shows the perfect balance and James deans future resemblence when he grow up.
perfectly balanced as
Just watched it! Man, even the mansion they end up in is an establishment of the older - older generation. The stars are in the ceiling, enclosed in the observatory. Closed inside their town, their community
sm i left out of the video that makes u think nice observation
@@LetsMakeItOfficial69 Crappy sentence, hard to understand. You got good grades too huh? Where is the video that makes me think, "Nice observation"?
When you graduated they told you, "You are the future.", and is it true. Glad I am old. Your entire generation has been severely sabotaged, and you will need a baby sitter, and they are always bastards. Good luck kids. It breaks my heart.
@@EarthSurferUSA literally choke. Don't be rude, old man. Leave if you have nothing nice to say. The video was great. Were those sentences put together well enough for you to understand?
@@EarthSurferUSA Cut the crocodile tears and faux sympathy, asswipe. Someone’s improper grammar isn’t an excuse to go on a random, self-fulfilling tirade. Condescending, smart ass prick. I can only imagine how shitty your interpersonal relationships are.
This was a great video essay. I like how you deconstruct the themes so well. Keep it up!
thank you more to come

In 82' high school drama. We did Rebel. I still have my script complete with doodles. I played Buzz Gunderson. Our drama teacher Mr. Allen was amazing.

Recien acabo de ver este video Me parece excepcional sobre la pelicula y su analisis!! James Dean es mi actor idolo de toda la vida I love him!!
This is a really informative video, thank you. I just wish you didn't have the swearing at the beginning because it means I can't share it with students.
Thank you, I am constantly at war with myself over whether or not to keep these videos child friendly and professional or to be more open to my type of humor and speaking how I typically do amongst friends.
God i love this movie. Through one night Jim goes from a boy to a man
I don't agree that he was without a cause, as the title implies. Perhaps it might be ironic. I feel he was trying to make those around him better, especially his father.
I enjoyed that dude
Thank you so much, your support means an actual lot to me! What would you like to see in the future?
@@LetsMakeItOfficial69 Anything James Dean related tbh!
@@LetsMakeItOfficial69 james dean everything
I disagree with the rebel label. As it turns out Jim’s desire was to be a real man an honest man a responsible man He wanted to go to the police with the absolute truth no matter what the consequences were After buzzes
Death was the realization for Jim He realized it is time to be a man even if there were dire consequences. It was his own disfunctional parents who wanted him to lie and keep his mouth shut they still wanted to coddle and protect him from a undesirable outcome. Jim understood the BBC pattern just keeps repeating and he was going nowhere. That’s the real beauty of this movie. Jim finally understands manhood is about truth and accepting resposibility no matter what. He n knew he couldn’t turn out to be his parents or accept their destuctsble protection He is pleading with them to let him do the right things in life. Begging them toy listen and be. T
I just bought "Rebel Without a Cause" on DVD recently thinking I was buying American nostalgia for $37.00. It turned to be a propaganda attack against "middle class" families in the USA. The extra's even have a lot to say about the immoral atmosphere of hollywood even at that time, if you have the morals to understand what they say, (statutory rape and communistic producer Kazan),----------------------and you probably don't.
James Dean may have been a good young man, but that movie was propaganda.
There was nothing masculine about that movie.
1950s was americas PRIME

Total facts.
