I work with a couple of guys from Guerrero and they are the nicest , most generous, people you can ever run into and they always hook up the best lunches
Negatives/warnings are extra appreciated, thanks! I'm in upstate New York considering some sort of Mx living.. I'm 61 and fear I won't have as many options in a decade...
LOL I'm 66 years old and have already sold my house and retired in September 2024, BUT plenty of "older" people are taking the jump and moving to different countries. I think the key is to embrace the challenges and enjoy the rewards!
I visited Mexico at the age 20 to79, and other countries, I only purchased a home in Chicago, condo in Oak Park, and Time share in Acapulco. I am 82 now, and have lived in Queretaro since 2021 at 79. I live in a furnished studio, that includes , maid on a monthly basis. I can spend $672 to $915 depending on the USA and Peso. I order my groceries online once a month for home delivery. RENT was $771 this month. I am very generous to maids and delivery people. Earthquakes are why I did not retire to Acapulco. YOU still must be alert, no matter where you live.
These people are my neighbors. Or were... And I'm sure I've met her at Costco, she's familiar. I've started researching moving to Mexico and I go back and forth about it. I can fully retire, basically I am now except for a few hours a week as an in-home caregiver. . I'm 68 years old and semi-disabled so I'm ready to stop even my few hours as a caregiver. And the circumstances in the US are so disheartening and the future is so very bleak for women here that it breaks my heart. I don't want to be stressed anymore. I don't want to fear a loss of civil rights and chaos through misunderstanding of economics. However, I watched a video last night of an expat who talked about those new neighborhoods where promises aren't kept and contracts can be broken with no consequences in Mexico. So now I'm not quite sure where to go with this. Maybe you could put me in touch with this couple because we have very similar goals and certainly similar sensibilities. I even used to race sailboats down in LA harbor! Thanks for your time, and thanks for the video.
I hate , Hate , Hate regrets. I have worked for and absolutely hated the A hole boss's. 1st do your due diligence and research where you need to be. WE started with Aruba, then Panama, jumped to Ensenada Mexico and we worked our way down the Baja. Cabo has too many tourists. Working our way via magazines, TV shows word of mouth and YT shows like RV seeing you, Mariana, Doug and Hope and of course Mr B's show and of course "Flash". Real Estate listing are but a click away. Start clicking. I (maybe we) want desperately to move. We have the money plus acreage and 2 houses here in NS but a promise to my dying Dad to look after Mom is the only reason we are still here. Well that and Tuscany is Pam's 1st choice lol. Minus 3 here sunny and minus 2 tomorrow plus my aching joints are good reasons to run. Oh well someday... I hope. Another hit out of the park Mr B. P n D
Wow, that is a fast move? How is it, all rich, or richer.. Americans and Canadians, (Croatians ) (I'm also Croatian). just pack up and move to Mexico? No application for residency in home country, I was waiting 11 months for consulate interview, just to get cancelled. Plus all other fun stuff just to get passport stamped, then 2nd part for canje? Eveyone says, we sold everything and moved.? I love to do that. But it's not as easy as people make it..If it is, please do share how? I don't want to go through the daunting process again. Draining, especially gathering banking info and driving 2 hours to MX consulate office.
@@MyMemories07 sorry your consulate experience wasn’t great. That’s much more common now than before or early on during the pandemic. And I’m afraid it will get worse during the new US administration. Best of luck to you!
I have gone the route of seeking residency first. It took me over a year to get an appointment at the consulate in my state in the US. I had to bring all my signed and stamped financial information & go through all of that. The difference is that it doesn't take me very long to fly there. Mexico allows United States and Canadian citizens to visit for up to 180 days on a tourist permit that is included in plane tickets or can be obtained at the border. So they can do something like this before getting residency. They just have to leave the country every 180 days & then come back.
Aloha - Is it safe in La Paz for Americans? Can you find a place for 150K? I've been watching this channel for years but worry about safety and now the cost has gone up. Mahalo
@@jasperhayesusa yes on both counts. You can find homes for right around $150k. Check out this video from my buddy Gord: ua-cam.com/video/gw1Uej5BumY/v-deo.htmlsi=XPGZlhnw80vB_C2c
As long as you're not looking for a large home and aren't in the prime areas, yes. Prices have gone up considerably since 2020. The home in this video sells for around $300k now.
It's interesting that you say that. This complex was previously barren land, probably owned by a Mexican family. They built a lot of houses where there were none before. I can understand how it's gentrification when a wealthy person rents an apartment that was previously rented by a less-well-off person, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on why this is gentrification. Thanks
Yes. You are absolutely correct. Rich white guys moving down to Mexico, giving people jobs, obeying the law, and helping the locals. This is in COMPARISON to MILLIONS of people who have migrated illegally, bring a lot of crime, broken hospitals and schools, and destroying our inner-cities (much to the demise of our black population). I prefer GENTRIFICATION any day to GHETTOIZATION.
Why all the wealth envy? Get to work and maybe you can be a high achiever too. I am sure the locals appreciate the employment and capital coming to their country.

LOVE IT!!! "Let's just sell the house and leave."
What a charming, motivated couple. Thank you for bringing them on!
For all foreigners who want to live in La Paz, they should buy right now because every year the prices go up very quickly.
Good for him. Not many take that jump.
