Thank you to "Harvestman Vinyl" for this great request that sounds so much better in mono!
He advises that the mono mix is VERY hard to find anywhere, so of course going back to the original 45 is the best way to get it.
This is the original mono mix as heard when this was a huge hit on AM Top 40 radio on stations like WABC New York.

We aim to please! This is a great tune that should have charted higher, but there was just so much good music out in 1969, that it was very difficult for even really good records to get into the top 10. Thanks for listening!
Great song!! I still have the original 45 r.p.m. from back in the days.
barry leeper so do I, bought it 9-20-69 the day it hit the top 40. Oh fun days, 15 and carefree.
Great sound, remember it foundly in 1969 on am radio in Albany, NY . Agreed it should of charted higher.
Flip side was "Superman," which most people assume originated with REM.
Oh, yeah! That was hot stuff. Okay, is it just me, or did the pop music of the late 60s and early 70s ... even the bubble-gum like this ... rock harder than the so-called pop music we're hearing today!? They don't make them like this anymore ... and I believe they sure should!
Please don't ever stop making your videos any other way. Seeing the vinyl up close is just as important as it is hearing it, at least to me.
Are you sure? Some 45's were made of styrene because the labels were glued on.
These guys were headliners on their home turf down here on the Gulf Coast.
Superman was the flip side which was covered by REM in the 90s. Almost an exact cover but since I always checked out the flip side of every 45 I owned looking for a hidden gem, I still prefer the Clique's version.
Ya man, until now a song form the distant past that was just memory, Now FOUND. Great tune
I worked with little Steven for years and grew up on WRKO IN BOSTON!
Awesome!! Thanks for posting my request!
Gotta love the bass on this record...it really has a punch to it.
I noticed your Mystery Spot sticker there, I live 45 min from Santa Cruz! Nice turntable and I have always loved this version of Sugar On Sunday! :) Thanks for posting!
Great job in the posts, you obviously love what you do and it loves you back.
never gonna hear music like that again.............
When I was eighteen, really thought this group was Tommy James. And the shondells.
released in Australia on London records distributed through EMI Records
I adore this band!! Awesome post!
Their follow up, I'll hold out my hand was great also....
I bought both. Liked both.
The Album is brilliant as well shame they never did more
Texas boys
Yessir that record really does have punch to it. I never heard it before and it's a great song..
It did make me think of a song named, "My Belle Amie" which I thought was a cool song back in the day. Would you have this song in your mono collection?
I think you're thinking of "Ma Belle Amie" by the Tee Set.
They sounded so much like Tommy James and the Shondells.
This was also done by Tommy James and the Shondells. Which one is the original?
Tommy James version came out earlier in 1969. The Clique was supposed to be a replacement of sorts for Tommy James and the Shondells. Tommy James was even present during some of the Cliques recording sessions
@@marklangston7710 he also said their version was better than his, i like Tommys version as well but this is theproper way this track should sound
The Tommy James production values are apparent here
Only on Sunday?
how do you deal with copy rights?
pray you don't get caught
