- Oriignal Motown Records #1157
Debut 11/15/1969
Peaked at #1 for ONE week.
This is the Jackson 5's first charted record featured here in it's original Motown HOT mono mix sound, which sounded great on the big Top 40 AM radio stations of the time, such as 77 WABC!
This is the original mono mix as heard when this was a huge hit on AM Top 40 radio on stations like WABC New York.

I found this 45 for a dollar at a thrift store recently. I love this mono mix!
It really rips.
The best version of this classic ever. The Mono version is great. Stereo has it's place for some music but Mono works great for all. MJ was an amazing entertainer at 11 years old. That's mindblowing. He continued to be great till he passed. It's sad that he apparently had so many inner demons.
John Sheridan and demons are still would let him rest peacefully and they don't care! live peacefully Michael joseph sleep and rest in power!!!!!!!!!!!
Is it just me or are others as flabbergasted as I am that this song is already 44 years old, going on 45?!?!?! OMG, I remember when it was new and being a little kid jumping around to it. I remember friends we went to visit on Christmas, 1969 and the one girl got this on the LP album as a gift & we couldn't stop playing it/dancing to it. Wonderful memories. Wow, almost a lifetime ago.
ANATOLIACHTZEIN happy 50 th anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!! super Kings number one👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑!
As far as I'm concerned this is the ONLY way to hear this song! On the "Hitsville USA 1959-1971" box set they use the mono master...but the original 45 kicks THAT straight in the behind!
The Jackson 5's very first HOT 100 Hit Single.
Truly one of the best mono mixes to ever released by Motown. No other version of "I Want You Back" explodes off the turntable like the original 45 release!! Plus it holds special significance since it was the first 45 I ever owned. :)
I bought this 45 when it was new and i still have it. I love the hard and punchy mono sound!!
All that's played on mainstream "greatest hits" radio nowadays is the wimpy stereo version and that can't even begin to hold a candle to the original Mono 45 mix. This sounds like a dedicated a dedicated mono mix, not a fold down from stereo. Mono Rules baby!!!! MONO is the ONE!!!! Thanks Spencer!
bigmsound mono will always be on top!!!!!!!!!! jackson five lives 50 the anniversary of I want you back! bless you kings👑👑👑👑👑👑
Long before Kidz Bop, there was the Jackson 5. And the name of this song that says it all.
53 Years Ago. WOW 😲😳 Classic Classic Soul Gold
its chilling to listen to this recording, and remember how its exciting it was at the time, and to also consider what happened to michael jackson in the end.
In 1969, record producers mixed singles with AM radio in mind. Tightly compressed, it jumped out of the radio! The simple compressors most radio stations were using didn't have to work very hard on this one.
In 5th or 6th grade someone brought in their Jackson 5 records and played them when we played basketball in the school gym. This was one of the songs! It really got us energized hearing the Motown sound.
He'll yeah!
Oh yeah, the mono mix is hot!!! I use to play this single on my close n' play phongraph along with "Want Ads" by the Honey Cone and "I Love You - Stop" by the Stairsteps..
SQDLVR my dad had a double turntable by RCA Victor, and he has all reggae and american r and b singles, when I hear the bass of the amplifier I was totally into another world. michael is my husband ,dare no one can't nothing from him!!!!!!!!!
Makes my heart race!
Very hot mix!
The pinky out ROCKS!
Guardians Of The Galaxy!

I always loved the 45RPM version of this song. Thanks for posting!!!!!!!
I love Vinyl
HOT is a good term to use for this classic.
Nice
I can't believe this is from 1969! I always thought it was from '72. There's just something about that awesome disco/Motown infusion that is so catchy! Unfortunately I don't like Michael Jackson, so I never gave TJ5 a chance, but this is amazing.
Reached #1 in January 1970 on the Hot 100.
We have a Mystery Spot in upper Michigan, too
In late 1975, the Jacksons became the second Motown artists to leave the label after a lawsuit. Because of the legal entanglement, the group had to change their name slightly when they signed to Epic afterwards.
Charles Wagner Jermaine Jackson, who married Berry Gordy's daughter Hazel in 1973, stayed with Motown after his brothers left. Another Jackson brother, Randy (not the American Idol judge) replaced Jermaine. Jermaine would later discover an Ohio-based band, Switch, and help them secure a deal with Motown. Later still, in early 1980, he had his biggest solo hit, "Let's Get Serious", which was produced by Stevie Wonder.
Great channel, dude!
😍😊
