As somebody who got picked on in high school FOR THE TINIEST OF THINGS, I got major flashbacks watching the first movie (first watched it when I was 10 then watched it when I was in my 20s)
Absolutely amazing video. Though I do have to say, Julie Andrews could walk around in a hot dog costume and we'd all think she was still thr picture of grace. The designer just helped us cement that into our minds with these outfits
Mia's red dress in the second movie reminds me of the dress Julia Roberts' character wears to dinner in Pretty Woman. The jewellery flying off Mia's hand and being caught by a doorman is similar to the escargot flying across the room and being caught by a waiter ("Slippery little suckers!").
The 2nd Princess Diaries is my favorite of the two! I love every single one of her outfits in the second movie, but my two favorites are the all pink suit she wears when she stomps on Nicholas’s foot, and then her more casual outfit when she rides off with Nicholas at night, wearing the blue shirt underneath the long belted gray sweater, jeans, and low heeled boots. 😍☺️ Her outfits are so classic and I think they could still work today!
i LOVE this video. the princess diaries is one of my most favorite movies and your analysis was super cool and made me appreciate the little things in this movie more than i already did. plus your voice is super nice to listen to!
I absolutely love these movies, watch them pretty often. But one thing I'll never understand is why they even bring back Paolo? He betrayed Mia and her royal secret in the first movie, yet they bring him back like nothing happened... That was always weird to me. Anyways, great video!
ive grown up watching the movies and after seeing this video i feel like i HAVE to watch them again. it never gets old am i right? also i loved how you talked about the symbolism behind the colors of the clothing. i feel bad for requesting something but like i would really like to see someone do a fashion analysis on the 2000s movie the clique. because there is a lot to unpack there haha. ❤️
Loved the video, incredible work ❤️ Although i found one mistake, on the Queen Elisabeth's photo from aronud 19:30 she's not in her coronation gown, it's a dress princess Beatrice "borrowed" as her wedding gown, but it is not a Queen's coronation gown. Subtle thing but still... 😅
I think the otter bag is meant to be a reference to her animal activism? Like she starts a couple of sentences talking about saving the otters so I assumed it’s something she bought to support them.
Is anyone else sad that we didn't get the insane, neurotic, borderline sociopathic nana from the books? Like, Julia did an amazing job and I love her in this (one of the highlights!!!) but it is not the same character as the one in the book. Nana in the books was so fucking funny. At one point she went to live in Mia's apartment and told her to bring her lemon wedges and a tonic water (???) and Mia was like "lol no" and nana chucked a shoe at her head lmao, screaming her request again XD
3:31 maybe she thinks it's terrible because it's to much money that people spend on a bag instead of a good cause, she was an activist before it became common to be one
